@RG1 yuuuup. I was like HOLY CRAP ANOTHER BA... oh. Ok.
@geminigirl16 I'm with you. I keep thinking... I should really pack a hospital bag... I should really clean my house... I should really *set up* a diaper changing station, books, etc in the nursery... eh. Hoping it "kicks in" soon.
@geminigirl16 This time around I had a nesting urge for about a week last month. It left quickly and now there are piles of stuff around my house. Ugh, I'm hoping it comes back before too long! I think last time my nesting didn't kick in until later (like 38+weeks) so there's hope!
If it's in town, you might want to go... I went to my family xmas 3 hours away at 14 days out (rode in back, parents drove me and emmett while husband worked). Baby was so easy at that point, just wanted to be snuggled the whole time... but that can depend on temperament of baby as well. I wouldn't fully rule it out, but if you go past due date could be reallllllly soon to be out and about
@jas1982 Yes!! That is TOTALLY what is going through my mind!! And thanks @Steephers123 for the reassurance that all hope is not lost yet.
I am forcing myself to complete a few things today, even if it's only online shopping for stuff I am missing and new shoes to fit my now 1/2-1 size bigger feet (rendering all my shoes tight and uncomfortable).
@Thscary. If it is local I would be tempted to see if I could feed baby, leave baby with your mom at home, go to ceremony. Come home, for some quiet and to feed baby again, and then go to dinner if you feel up to it. Obviously it will depend on how you feel but you might be able to make an appearance without exhausting yourself by being out the whole day.
@Thscary I'd just wait and see how you're feeling. In my experience with newborns, I would've felt okay to go after 11 days but to be fair I had really easy deliveries with minimal physical recovery time needed. I also formula fed so I didn't have the pumping/introducing bottles early issue. If you're worried about how baby will do, I can almost guarantee he/she will sleep the majority of the time. Newborns are pretty easy to take places since they don't require much more than food, a clean diaper and a place to sleep! If you can get your Mom to watch baby for some time alone while you go, I'd say definitely take advantage of it. Getting out of the house even with baby in tow helped me so much during those daunting first few weeks. It made a huge difference in my mental health for the day.
I just posted this in the shower thread but thought I might get more input here, so here goes!
Question on etiquette: During the time of planning my shower, there was a possible Canada Post strike so my SIL did Paperless Post email invitations to the guests.
Can I do nice email/e-card thank you's to people or do they have to be handwritten? As I've mentioned in other threads, I have carpel tunnel and holding a pen is pretty painful these days. Do I suck it up and write them or use online methods for thank you's?
Guys, when does the nesting kick in?! I know I have a lot of things remaining to do with dwindling time (5w+3) left and yet, I keep procrastinating!
Maybe because I have the big things (crib, bassinet, stroller, car seat, clothes) done, I'm thinking that the rest is non-essential at the moment? Is it possible that nesting may only kick in at a later week?
Never? Haha. I'm kinda in the same boat with about the same time frame left. But then again, i'm kind of a slob to begin with...so im not really surprised. Its more like a "f*&k it I'm done" kinda feeling...i just need to get the car seats installed and pack a bag...and all the big stuff will be done. If i get to the other stuff, great! If not then whatevs...it will get done, eventually.
@camichael84 congratulations on your induction date, and I'm so happy your OB is so supportive!!!!
@KimmySchmidt I agree with everyone else, definitely sounds like discrimination and it sucks that you can't do much about it. I may have an interview before I leave to return in a higher paying position and although I want to believe my company won't discriminate, I doubt they want to wait 5 months for me to return before filling the position.
I just have a random rave today - DS has slept in his OWN bed for the ENTIRE night 2 days in a row (first time in his life) and I am starting to think it's doable to have him in his room consistently when LO comes. He woke up at 7:30, we made waffles and played outside and I managed to give him a haircut that turned out better than what they do at the salon, if I dare say so myself. He got a bath, ate lunch and then fell asleep while cuddling with me on the couch. He never goes down that easy, ever. I should be cleaning now, but instead I'm bumping and enjoying some trash TV (teen mom, anyone?). Today is a good day!
@asht we bought our house 5 years ago and the house was built in 1991, and the unit is original. We say every year that this will be the year we have to replace everything. Sucks to know its coming!!! I want it to die next year, I think a new unit would lower our bills and actually keep the house cooler....just not this year!!!!!

I would say hand written. Get your husband to help you or a very understanding friend/family member who can write while you dictate. Print address labels to minimize that writing. I had carpal tunnel with my first but it went away pretty much right after he was born, so if you'd rather you could wait until then. I just find online methods impersonal.
There are things I want to reply on and will later, but quick random... getting a mani/pedi right now and there are three sets of mothers and daughters (aged probably 8-12). I cannot wait until my daughters are old enough to do this with me!
Weird dreams and nightmares have been brought up frequently around here. Anyone have a nightmare so bad they didn't want to sleep for the next few days?? Ugh. It's a good thing Wednesday is super close because I need some reassurance that these 2 are ok and to get this whole c-section thing over with. Anxiety is not my friend!
@AnnaS930 My IL are going to see Lyle, too! I'll have to tell them the chair trick for next year.
@frogdog06 Hanna A are our favorite clothes for DD. I try to stock up bigger sizes during their clearance events. She can sometimes wear the dresses for a couple of seasons because they're so flowy.
I love tit agreed with a lot of the other advice and congrats! @UnwritteN12 Wednesday is SO SOON!
Back to hand me down clothes sorting and washing -- first real step to prepping for this little guy... Also just started a list of things that would be helpful for mom/mil to do while in town for birth / while I'm in hospital for CS. MIL just said she be happy to paint the kids' room if we get the supplies. She's a gem!
@seitzy3 hoorayyyyy to a date night. I was just thinking that we def need to set something up before this LO comes along.
@KimmySchmidt I am a teacher as well and that sounds like discrimination at its finest. Sorry you're going through this, it's such a defeated, helpless feeling.
How things have changed! The highlight of my day so far has been buying a wrist brace to help my carpel tunnel. FX this helps alleviate the numbness and weakness!
@diagonalley Thanks for weighing in, I appreciate it!
My BFF is getting married the beginning of Sept. I will probably have baby by then. I'm hoping I can make it to the ceremony, give her a quick hug and head home. I really don't want to miss her big day but we will play it be ear. I don't want anyone touching my baby cause I'm weird like that so I'll see.
@abberson helps that my husband works at beans, keeps me updated on policies!! Chairs can be dropped off at 6am day of show! Hope they enjoy.. it's also a great place to just listen while you walk /stand around outside!
The thing that bothers me most about Friends is that Rachel clearly also steals Monica's thunder at her wedding. Why is she not upset about this? She was upset about Rachel and Ross kissing when she and chandler got engaged.
@Themaritimemama I never had it with my first, only got it in labor with my second but I'm already having some come out now. I guess it's a good thing not to experience it! It's just an annoying mind game like BH vs real deal contractions.
Speaking of. My BH can suck a fat one too. Allllll day today
@seitzy3 interesting! Maybe I'll see it this time. My BH are off the charts today too. How was your date with your H? (if it's happened already - if not, enjoy! Haha)
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
@themucousplug (damn I was hoping someone had this name). Mine didnt come out last time until I was admitted. When they were poking and prodding to see how dilated I was and then when I had a super hard contraction and it came flying out along with my bloody show (you're welcome for that imagery)
So you guys know how I don't fart around my husband and am paranoid of doing so? Well today we were both quietly reading on the couch and I felt one coming but I readjusted thinking if I could lift one cheek, it would silently slide out. Well it made significant noise and I was SURE he would have heard it, so I said "excuse me" and he's like "what?". Totally should have lied but I said "my tummy hurts and I accidentally did a little toot, cause of my tummy hurting". apparently I'm 4 years old.
If I didn't fart in front of DH I would literally explode. Plus considering the umm... Decibel level of my farts these days, and the fact that our place is tiny, there's no hiding it
^^^^speaking of which, my husband's cousin brought us No-bake Cookies while in the hospital last time. After she left he was like "well that wasn't the best gift to give new parents after witnessing what came flying out on that birthing table"
@seitzy3 interesting! Maybe I'll see it this time. My BH are off the charts today too. How was your date with your H? (if it's happened already - if not, enjoy! Haha)
It was great! Just went to the movies and saw bad moms and ate a lot of food. Also had an m&m and Nutella pizza that was delightful. The movie was freaking hilarious! It's been a long time since I laughed at a movie like that
@RG1 I know we talked about this in one of the threads but H has never heard me toot either lol however, just throw all decency out the window when your in labor. It's just not glamourous
we had a mirror with dd1 and then they put it up so I could see what was happening and then shouted omg take it away, take it away!
@RG1 well he's in for a world of fun of bodily functions if he plans on witnessing the birth!
I said to him "maybe I should practice farting in front of you to get ready for birth" and he politely said "if you think that will help you feel more comfortable, sure" hah!
The baby was just kicking me so so hard in the crotch and the ribs that I feel like I could cry. Ugh. FI is asleep and I tried to wake him up for support and he goes "well I don't know how I can help with that" and then rolls over. so I hit him with a pillow

@AnnaS930 that's a fav of mine as well... it's ALWAYS the left one though. Curious.
We have to buy new car seats for insurance from our accident and on one hand, I'm stoked about new seats, but man 4 car seats ain't cheap!
Is it weird that I am on baby #4 and I've never actually experienced this mucus plug everyone speaks about??
