Re: April/May IF success group

  • Hey guys! 16 weeks here. I went to donate a box of crinone to my REs office today. Hugged the receptionist, nurses and my doctor was there too. It was so nice. Is it weird that I want to visit them every few months. They said they want me to come back so they can see my belly growth. Lol.
This weekend I'm just lounging around because my husband and a friend of ours are putting my kitchen back together. My husband put in a brand new floor. Next project is painting the cabinets white so it brightens up the room. And then we work on the baby room. This picture is from when we bought the house.
  • Loading the player...
  • And this is the new floor so far. Obviously the sink and cabinets need to be put in which is what they're working on  now. We just finished that room in the back too if anyone is interested in seeing before and afters  lol
  • We got rid of the dog wallpaper too  lol sorry for the mess!!
  • Looks good @Drove2u. 16 weeks. Exciting! I'm right behind you.
  • I'm with you ladies on waiting too long between u/s appointments. I had my NT scan last week at 13 weeks and now waiting until 16 weeks for bloodwork. Next ultrasound will be at 20 weeks. I don't know how I can wait 6 more weeks!!!

@Drove2u looks great! Would love to see the end result once you're done.

  • How's everyone doing?  Not as much excitement now that we don't have appointments as frequently!  I broke down and bought a fetal doppler. I know the FDA says not to really use them but I'm going to be really conservative and only listen for 2 minutes each week.  I think the pregnancy is still going well since my tummy is definitely getting bigger... I'm having a tough time hiding it from work! Oh!  I started a registry! Currently at 13W today.

My message got cut off.  :( I was describing the  pics  we posted.  I like  the idea of being anonymous when I post on the public  boards,  so I prefer not posting  the  pics here.  If you're curious or want  ideas,  message me and  I'll send the pics privately.
  • @lynnnj I would love to see your fb announcement. I think we will do ours after our anatomy scan. And make it fishing theme with a chalkboard. My DH is so anti social media that I don't know if he will even go for it. Although I don't need him in the pic. I'll post some pics of my bump on social media as I start feeling more comfortable with it. Ha! I'll be starting my registry in a couple of weeks. Does anyone have their shower planned yet? I don't.

  • @Drove2u No shower planned yet.  But I started the Amazon registry just really as I was looking at researching things.  I'm trying to get a handle on a "travel system" and a "rock and play" etc.  As soon as I started looking I started feeling overwhelmed with all the choices so I thought once I find something I like, I'll just add to the registry online -- I assume no one is looking for our registry yet so its really more of a "I think I want/need this" list.

I think I'm also going to wait until my anatomy scan for Facebook -- I'm doing the at 18 weeks so will probably announce then.  Our very close friends and family already know. :-)

  • I was always hesitant of social media announcements, and both DH and I aren't big on Facebook either. I mainly use it for browsing and not posting stuff. So don't think we'll do a FB announcement. Our immediate family and closest friends know, and we're waiting until 16-20 weeks to tell others. DH has family all over the country and other parts of the world, and once we tell his aunt/uncle, word will spread like wildfire. I'm a part of some baby-related groups on FB so I've been reading posts about strollers, cribs, etc. It's so overwhelming! I feel like this baby is so far away, yet I know time will go by quickly so I need to start researching this stuff. But there's just so many options for everything! My SIL really wants to plan my baby shower, so I think I'll just let her run with it.

  • @lynnnj - I bet the announcement was really cute!

We started an Amazon registry and Babies R Us. It was just easier as I was reading about things to just start adding some of what I was seeing to a registry. I do like that most of the places will give you a checklist of items you should be looking for. While we were registering, we actually bought our stroller;travel system b/c the one we liked was on clearance and we couldn't pass up saving $100. It's crazy how easy it is to spend money once you get started. lol!

Because we are out of state from most of our family, we did set a tentative date for a shower in October b/c I'm not going to be traveling during the last 2 months. Plus planning time off to do it is a little harder.

  • Knottie1432834683 I know how you feel. We aren't going to buy a Doppler but it's definitely hard to go a long time without an appointment. I've been feeling sick this week again, probably stress/exhaustion related so I'll just keep keepin on. I started a registry on Amazon but have kept it private because it's mostly for research-purposes. We will go to Buy Buy Baby (I'm not a big fan of Babies R Us) and start a registry there as well.

@LynnNJ Your announcement sounds cute! I think we might have the same tank top... Is "January" in red bling?

@Drove2u I have been planning my shower guest list, and I'm going to have to have two of them because I have so much family and adopted family. So I made a friends list and then a family list. Some of my friends I wouldn't want Grandma around so it's better to just divide up the crowd and save embarrassment and awkwardness, lol. My best friend/sister wants to plan one for me, and then I don't know about the other. My mom was very firm that I not be the one to plan it cuz it's not my job. :)

  • Hi Everyone! Hope all is going well. Has anyone experienced one incident of red spotting around 16 weeks? There was no pain associated with it but there has been a little brown spotting after it. This happened yesterday....no other spotting as of this morning.
  • @jpangia I'm not 16 weeks yet but I've had brown spotting. My perinatologist and OB said brown is ok as long as it's not bright red. Hope this helps.

    @dragonfaerie  Yes,that sounds like it.

DH's t-shirt said "dad-to-be" and "loading"  underneath baby bottles that look like a progress bar.  Some bottles are filled and others are partially filled. Others are empty.

In one  pic we are holding white baby shoes (purposely gender neutral. ) We pretty much know it's a boy,  but we're going to wait to tell people.

My belly has definitely gotten  bigger in the last two weeks. The bleeding is better (for the  most part).  The last couple days I had lower back issues.  It was really sore  in  the  morning,  but got better during the day.  Otherwise,  I'm feeling OK.

  • Hi everyone! I've been away for a bit. We went t the finger lakes in New York and to visit family in CT. Looks like everyone is doing well. I'm 17 weeks. Went to the doc yesterday. 3 weeks until the anatomy scan! I thought I would post to FB but haven't yet. I think I will wait until the anatomy scan. I have a Doppler and use it every once in awhile to hear the heart beat. As for registries. I don't know where to start! I went to babies r us and was overwhelmed. I did buy a classic Winnie the Pooh quilt for the baby room and have been looking at cribs.

  • @Joyzie77 I recently came across this app called Baby List. It allows you to create a registry from any online store and compile all the items into 1 place. They send you a checklist you can use when building it and they have suggested items as well. Then when you share the registry, people purchasing can see the different prices the items are offered at and they can chose where to purchase it from. They can also "reserve the items" they want to purchase or buy it at the store and mark it as purchased by them on the site so no one else buys it. It's really neat and convenient.

  • @dragonfaerie they have a site too, I just use the app more. On the site, you can add a toolbar (I did it for chrome for example) and then if you see something on Amazon for example, you just click the little toolbar icon and it adds that item to your registry. I've been testing it out for a few days and I'm really liking it so far.

  • Hi ladies! I can't believe we are talking about registering already! I'm so nervous to start.
things are getting crazy here, we have a family wedding Saturday, my sister got engaged last week, my niece and nephew go home this weekend, and I am finishing up our home remodel drawings and getting all the contractors in order. Really I just want to sleep.

pregnancy wise things are moving along. Our anatomy scan is the 18th, it can not come soon enough. I'm now getting motion sickness while in the car, what the heck? I have not had that at all yet. I also keep getting bad headaches. Not thrilled. BUT I have a bump now!!! So all the not so great side effects are seeming to matter less and less!!

one of my friends registered on babylist. I really like it!

  • @vssbrm I'm nervous to register too. I'm at the doctors office because I've been spotting since yesterday. It isn't bad but the doc said if it continues to come in today so I'm here. I'm a little nervous. I know some of you have experienced spotting. At 17 weeks I wasn't expecting bleeding so I'm a little nervous about the lil guy.
  • @Tulips29 I will check out the website and app. Thanks!

  • @Tulips29 I'm still spotting today. The doc checked for infection and there wasn't any. He felt the cervix and it was hard. His explanation of the bleeding was implantation bleeding? I thought that was strange for 17 weeks along. I'm not sure I'm love this OB and may change. Our friend in New York is an OB and had more explanations for the bleeding and said he should have done an ultrasound but he didn't. I'm still nervous even though it's just spotting. My husband works at the hospital where our fertility doc is an she offered to do an ultrasound for us on a Saturday if I was still spotting. I thought that was really kind. I may take her up in the offer because I'm still nervous. I think I might look around for a new OB but I'm not sure.
  • @Griffin5413 amazing! Love the pics.
  • @Joyzie77 I'm sorry your current doctor didn't give you much reassurance or did an u/s. I'd definitely take the offer to get one done tomorrow. At least you can hopefully get to the bottom of this and the cause for spotting. I wasn't given an answer to it either, just that it happens, which didn't help much either. I just keep thinking if it was something serious or the baby was in danger, they wouldn't let me go home. They'd check for more, they'd do other tests, etc. Hopefully thinking along the same lines can help you as well? If you're not bleeding bright red, hopefully it's nothing serious.

  • @Joyzie77 - I'm so glad your fertility dr offered to do the ultrasound! We are our own best advocates so you should definitely do what makes you feel the most comfortable about your baby and the care you are giving!

I haven't had any bleeding except for really early on after my pap smear but I do agree with everyone else that as long as its not bright red baby is probably still great. Our bodies are designed to take care of the baby first anyway so he/she is probably still just sitting happy in your womb even though you are here freaking out.

  • @joyzie77- hope everything is ok. I agree with everyone its nice you can do the US for reassurance.  My fertility doctor was never really concerned about spotting (he just kept staying it happens) but that was earlier in my pregnancy. Keep us updated.  Since you have  doppler, I assume you can check that everything is alright with the heartbeat?

AFM I'm in India for a week for work/pleasure currently at 14w2d.  I travel here often and my husband has family here so I got to share the news with them in person.  They are so happy!  I was kind of freak getting ready for India since I'm so nervous about picking something up - - I packed everything and the kitchen sink (granola bars, individual milk servings, antibiotics, probiotics, etc. etc).  I'm sure it will be fine, but being newly pregnant after trying for so long is making me nervous!

I'm going to check out that registry app too!

  • @Griffin5413 and @Knottie1432834683 the spotting stopped yesterday but started again today. I didn't get an ultrasound over the weekend but I think I'm going to call tomorrow and request one from the OB's office. I'm trying not to be nervous and have heard this has turned out ok for others. I am praying it all is ok.
  • @Joyzie77 I really hope you get some answers and peace of mind with an ultrasound. My spotting came back last night too after I went out so I've been laying on the couch and taking it easy. Seems to help when I don't move around much. Praying for both of us that everything will be ok!

  • @Tulips29 I'm sorry you are spotting again. I'm laying low today too. Praying that we will be ok too.
  • Hues everyone doing? I've got my anatomy scan on the 22nd. I'm looking forward to getting the detailed scan and I'm hoping the lil guy looks good. Happy Monday!
  • Hi Everyone - I'm still in India and had a scary bout of food poisoning yesterday.  Not uncommon when I got to India, unfortunately, but scary because of the pregnancy. I was throwing up for about 6 straight hours and called the Hotel doctor - - he said I would be be fine, but his main concern was making sure I didn't get dehydrated.  Thankfully, it eventually got better and I was able to keep water down by midday and even had a light dinner in the evening.  I discussed this scenario with my OB before we went and she prescribed antibiotics for me just in case.  So I called her and she confirmed she wasn't worried but urged me to take the antibiotics to be on the safe side.  I'm finally feeling better -- not a 100%, but enough to keep things down and I'm just praying my U/S next week at 16 weeks shows the lil guy is fine!

Sorry to hear about continued spotting for others - - I know that's scary and would just be better if it stopped!
