As I read your posts, I began to freak out. my shower will be next month 9/22 and my due date is 10/27. My mom is doing it by herself and just decided that like 2 weeks ago ( she had some health issues) so now that I'm thinking of it, I will be enormous....
Is anyone else having (or had) a shower this late?
@AllyTheKid, i was totally messing. I've given up heels, even my wedges have taken a break. I just have to accept that for the next 10 weeks, I'm gonna have to accept my 5'1 shortie status.
I can't fit my swollen ham hock looking feet into anything but flip flops!
This! I tried to buy fancy flops with a strap around the ankle and had to go up a size, not because of length issues, but bc I couldn't get the strap to close up around my monster sized ankles... Cankles really
I took cute flat sandals with straps around the ankle and stuff on the top (can't think right now what that would be called, haha) on vacation and couldn't even wear them cause it was cutting into my feet. Same thing with my tennis shoes. Good thing we're due in October before real shoes are necessary!
@mayisch with DS1 my friends hosted a shower around 36 weeks. It didn't really occur to me that it was "late" because our Sunday School class does everyone's shower about a month before due date. Thankfully I was still comfortable then. It actually was kind of nice to have something fun and distracting at that point!
@MRSCORKER My feet don't fit in anything but flip flops anymore either. I pulled out an old pair of tennis shoes for work, but I'm about to cave and beg my boss to let me wear flip flops. We're allowed sandles, but not flip flops. But I really don't want to go buy a new pair of shoes for 4-5 more weeks of work. And all the sandles I tried on for my shower made my swollen feet look ridiculous!
haha @bnsmith85 you say cute sandals with straps around the ankle, and I can't stop thinking about Kim K's infamous pregnant feet. THIS IS HOW MINE FEEL/ARE

That's how mine look in sandles!! Omg... Why would someone even want to wear those?!
@kmvisioli that's sweet!! I was a Sunday School teacher I just hope to have a "good day" on my shower, yesterday I sneezed and my bladder betrayed me, luckily I was home.
Is anyone having kids at their shower? If so, what are your plans to try to prevent them from opening all your presents or are you going to let them help?
I will @LauraPCOS... My plan is to let their parents parent them lol... That said, my friend let a few of the less controlled kids at her shower open gifts with her and I'll do the same if needed. Doesn't really bother me if they help
@LauraPCOS My kids (SS and nieces) are older so that won't be a problem. My goddaughter is only 3 tho. I'm sure she'll be helping me open presents. Until it's time, we'll keep them up so she can't get them.
My mom and I talked about getting the kids a loot bag they will get at present time so they will have something they can open and play with (maybe we'll go as far as wrapping it all for them instead of bags). I believe the parents will intervene, but doing a little something for them will help.
I'm just concerned we'll lose track of who gave me what (for thank you cards), and we're also playing a game where everything blue I open, the prize is being passed to the right. Plus my FFFC for the day, I'm a bit kid and I wanna open presents toooo
My brother is only 4 and I'm very close to him so I wanted him at the shower. I brought him his own gift from the baby to open first and then had him help with presents. There was one other little girl there and she was running around. I've always had lots of kids around so that doesn't bother me at all. I know people like a more formal setting though.
@LauraPCOS Have someone write down each gift and who it's from as you open them. My niece did that for me at my shower, so I didn't even have to worry about it when it came time to write thank yous

Ya one of my besties is doing that for me. I'm also asking her to help encourage the kids to help in other ways (unless the kid starts freaking then it's really not worth it, they can open presents).
It's 95% family at this shower so it should be laid back enough, and I know I'm over analyzing it and just need to let things happen so I can enjoy myself....maybe I should post in TW Tuesday about myself lol
@krzyriver I don't mind being centre of attention (that sounds horrible! Lol) but I hate not being the one to plan it. I'm so ocd when it comes to planning but I love it! I actually thoroughly enjoyed planning my wedding and went into a depression afterwards not because my day was done but because I didn't have anything else to plan. I've been very careful not to do that with the pregnancy, enjoying the little moments, and as much as I'm involved in my shower I'm not planning/hosting it, my mom is, so I don't have that control ---- FFFC #2 I'm a serious control freak lol
So I'm pretty sure that I'm having a surprise shower this weekend, and I'm trying to figure out how to dress up without being totally obvious. I don't want to be wearing my normal weekend getup in all of the pictures, but it will be super obvious if I pull out a dress or skirt for a Saturday. I think I'll wear a pair of black capris and a nicer shirt just in case. I just hope my bump is obvious enough, because most of my nicer shirts are bigger and flowier.
Also, babies r us messed up and sent me a receipt in my email for some things that someone bought this past week, and someone bought our travel system! I'm so excited about that!
Both of of these things make me feel like a terrible person for knowing about them ahead of time...
@ashleyp625 - who cares if it's a little obvious! Wear what you'll love girl! They're throwing it for you bc they love you and want you to be happy, so be happy with what you're wearing and put on that dress Also, I think they tell them that we won't get the receipt until after the shower bc every time my mom goes there, I get an e-receipt lol... I feel too bad to tell her, so when she lets me know she left a gift in our garage, I'm just always expecting what it is but call her with my surprised voice on lol
@bnsmith85@ashleyp625 Uou guys are getting e-receipts for everything on your registry?? My mom uses my BRU account when she buys me things, so I get those emails. But I haven't got an email for anything else that's been bought off my registry....
@krzyriver... Not every purchase. Just seems to be the ones my mom makes. I think it's when they ask if you want an e-receipt and you say yes, they send it to the registry email addy too. But really I have no clue how it actually happens lol
Re: Baby Showers!
@Julia70286, your theme is so adorable! I love it!
