It's baby month for me and holy crap!!!!!!! This pregnancy has been extremely difficult for me and time has seemed to creep on by but suddenly it feels like "where has the time gone?!"
It's crazy to think we will have babies this month and next!! Up until now it was weeks or months and now it's "next month"! I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone.
I cannot believe it's August!!! Not only is it baby month eve... but it's back to work for me. Womp womp. I really can't complain, having June and July off is pretty awesome. Although it's been really nice to never have to put on real clothes if I don't feel like it, now I have to stuff myself into work clothes every day. Not sure how this is gonna work out but they may need to make an exception to let me wear leggings! And not to mention, I'll only be at work for about 2 months max soooo basically I just need to stop being a whiney baby.
@Slou24 when does school start up for you again? I'm in NY so the teachers here still have another month off (but work through most of June though).
Cannot believe it's our month eve - where has the time gone!
Also, because the only thing mobile bumping would let me do this weekend was 'love its' - Congrats @mom2adoodle on Finley! He is utterly adorable and already looks like a strong young man. Best wishes for a short time in NICU.
I just bought everything off our registry and used the completion discount. It's feeling real!
It it came to $450 but we scrounged around the house for gift cards and used credit card points and ended up spending $17. Pretty good for no baby shower.
Ladies- thank you so much for your outpouring of love and support during this tumultuous and emotional time!!! Who knew an online community could be so helpful and imperative during a difficult life event. I am so thankful. Truly.
Im hesitant to update a lot since I think everyone else around here is still pregnant (which is a good thing!!!!! Rub those bellies and smile!!!!!) but I'm hoping to chime in here and there. Please know I am lurking and going to be here. Don't forget me!!
For now I'm trying to recover as best as I can so I can properly care for Fin in the NICU and give him everything he deserves. As you can imagine it's been a whirlwind of emotions.
If any ladies have gone through NICU time would you private message me? It would be great to connect with people now more than ever.
@mom2adoodle Eee! All the hugs! I'm glad you'll continue to lurk. Hope you'll get a chance to update us periodically on how you guys are doing (and more pictures of baby Fin are always welcome. )
AUGUST AUGUST AUGUST?! No way! I remember when it was January and I'd just got my BFP and I was thinking "September is a million years away!" and now it's creeping up and time is running out to get everything ready. We've still got to finish painting that darn nursery and my baby shower isn't for another week and a half and we haven't bought all the diapers or installed the car seats yet!
I have a feeling it's going to be a pretty busy month of all of us! And I can't wait to start seeing that "Birth Announcement" board light up!
@mom2adoodle Update as often as you want! We're going to be a combo of some outside/some inside babies for the next two months. Also, I want to hear how you and baby Fin are doing! Keeping you both in my thoughts.
Holy beans, it's August. By the end of this month, come hell or high water, I will at least go out of work. Everything is getting. So. Close.
@mom2adoodle I hope you are recovering well as well as Fin. You've certainly been on my mind. I am sure the hospital is taking great care of both of you!
Wow, I really can't believe it's August! I'll be 38 weeks at the end if August so there's a pretty real chance this might be baby month, although I hope she sticks it out until at least 39. I also still need to get a lot of stuff done but I keep pushing it off til I go on leave in 19 days. So exciting, can't wait to see all the squishy babies on this board!!
@mom2adoodle so glad to see you poking in! I understand wanting to lurk around, as long as you know you are always, always very welcome to post. I hope as the board gets more and more outside babies you may feel more comfortable joining in the conversation again, because you have been a fantastic contributor to this board and we would hate to loose you. Thank you thank you for all the Fin updates!
I'm so excited while also freaking out. We were pretty much ready to go by this point in my pregnancy with McKenna, and we still have so much to do this time. I stayed up for an hour last night freaking out to DH because we still don't have a coming home outfit for the baby or nursing tanks for me. I kept telling him that I can't finish packing the bag without those things. (In the light of day, I realize we have other clothes here that we could use if push came to shove.)
Time went so slow my first pregnancy, and there just isn't enough time during this one!
So happy to see you here @mom2adoodle you're still one of us even though baby is outside now!
i cant believe it's finally time that we can have our babies! So crazy it's already here! I just text my husband and said, "we are having a baby next month!!!" Unless she's late. But her sister was due Oct 2nd from the initial scan and due Sept 29th for every scan after that, and she is due Oct 3rd, or Sept 30th for every scan after, so I just assume she will come when her sister did. I will be so sad if she doesn't come in Sept, because I've been counting on it hahaha!
@mom2adoodle thanks for updating us! Hope it's a quick NICU stay! Look forward to hearing from you again. I know nothing about NICU stays, but am happy to lend an ear if you need advice once you take him home.
It feels so weird to say it's August! I have a RCS scheduled on the 26th so it's literally down to just days until baby gets here. Excuse me while I try to grasp that fact without hyperventilating. @mom2adoodle please feel free to update as much as you want, especially with squishy baby pictures! I hope everything continues going well with you & Fin.
HAPPY AUGUST!!! @mom2adoodle chime in wherever/whenever you want, others will be joining you in the "outside baby" world and hopefully sticking around as well. So much love to little Mr. Fin!
I asked my husband last night "So when do you think we should use our completion discounts?" since his coworkers did ask where we're registered though I'm still really doubting they'll pull it all together and get him anything. He answered "oh I dunno.. not too soon or too far off either. Probably within a couple weeks after he gets here"
...
...
I had to smile and calmly say "There are items on there that we need before he arrives. Let's try this again" Get with it, husband!
AHHH tomorrow is only 1 month left for me. Been trying to get so many things done. My insurance changed over today so now I get to have fun making phone calls and getting that updated!
Me: 32 DH: 31
TTC #2 since January 2018
Baby #1 DD Born 8/25/2016 BFP: 8/11/18 Due: 4/26/18
Yay for August! According to my doctor, he will induce on August 30th if the babies haven't already come, so I think it's my birth month! For all of you ladies that are off work or are planning to be off work before you give birth, my DH said this to me this morning: "August 30th is a Tuesday. Will you go into work that Monday?" Ummm....I think I've earned the day off before I give birth to two babies. So that's an emphatic "hell, no." But that is the only day that I can plan to have off before they come. Sad.
@mom2adoodle Glad to hear your update. I will admit you have been on my mind all weekend and I hope you and Fin's time in the hospital will be short and healthy!
August defiantly makes it feel like a countdown/watch has begun. As an end of the month-er I bet I'll see most of the people on here have their babies before this one comes, but that just means more advise and stories. Good luck everyone!
Holy crap! I told DH this morning that we're having a baby next month, but seeing August on here for some reason makes it more real. I still have so so much to do!
@mom2adoodle I completely understand wanting to just lurk for a bit while baby Fin is adjusting on the outside, but please know that you're welcome and encouraged to keep posting even though you have an outside bump. We'll all be joining you before we know it!
For my own safety, I may be done shaving my legs for the remainder of this pregnancy. I'm right handed but my belly is so much in the way that I have to shave my left leg with my left hand. Shaving is definitely not something you should do with your less coordinated hand....and I have the all the band-aids on my leg to prove it.
@mom2adoodle - Thinking of you and Fin! I hope things continue to go well for you guys. Please continue to update when you have time. And, as everyone has said, we always accept pictures of squishy little babies!!
Yay for August!!! T minus 4 weeks and 5 days until my due date!!! Less than two weeks until I get my stitches out from my cerclage, so there is a very real chance our little man will be here very soon! Life is about to change drastically in the very best possible way!!! Good luck to all of you ladies out there- we are in the home stretch!
Kinda had an oh shit moment this morning. Realizing it is AUGUST! I made big lists of things to do and now I feel slightly better. I just have to start checking the things of the list!

So excited that August is here! This pregnancy really has flown by, I guess I'll see if the last month drags on like everyone tells me it will It's an exciting month though! Many things to do and clean around the house, buy the last few things on the registry, making sure thingsthings are set up and ready... the lists seem endless, so I hope that keeps me busy! Happy August!!
@UnwritteN12 ouch! Nope, no more leg shaving for you, it sounds like. I think I was able to do my toes for the last time last week but I haven't attempted leg shaving in a while, I must confess. Only a liiiittle bit more to go for you!
@mom2adoodle enjoy that beautiful squish! I hope he gets to go home very soon. Chime in any time you want, you're still one of us and many will have their LOs in the next few weeks too! And yes, HDBD is for babies too!
Hapoy August ladies!!! Being an end of September mama I don't think it will actually hit me until September comes and all you lovely ladies have your babies!
I'm also in the "holy moly, it's August" club! I'm due 9/1 and DD came a week early so there's a good chance this is baby month for us!! On the other hand, with all of the contractions I've been having and being on pelvic rest, I sometimes have this suspicious feeling that "Murphy's Law" will apply and baby will actually go overdue. As in, this entire pregnancy I've been thinking "late August" and after the L&D scare at 33 weeks had to tell work I was cutting back to keep baby baking. Meanwhile this kid is in there laughing and saying, "Haha, Mom - see you on September 9th!" Or something like that!
@AnnaS930 Have to share that we had the cheese curds from BWW Friday night. By we, I mean McKenna and I. We left very little for DH to enjoy. And I had a ton of wings. And my sugar was great after! I'm realizing this should have been my weekend win...
@mom2adoodle great to hear from you! I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts.
Happy August ladies. It's baby month for us! Currently heading to buy buy baby to pick up some remaining things we need for Ava then heading to my doctors to start my weekly NSTs and BBPs. I'm excited to see her on ultrasound, it's been since 20 weeks
@camichael84 - YES! I'm so happy, those little nuggets are heaven. Emmett likes them too! Who doesn't like deep fried squeaky cheese?
My sister and her family actually went to BWW on Saturday and she texted me to say "Fried cheese curds for days!" I'm thoroughly jealous of all of you.. my closest one is about 30 minutes away, Planning to make it there this week or next!
@LakeR2014 I'm actually not a teacher, although I work on a pseudo teachers schedule!! Kids around here don't go back until September, but I work at a college in athletics so I'm kind of more on an NCAA schedule than a school year one. August - May is my time I can't imagine being a teacher and having kids back in school already -- way too early, although I know some states do August!
Also @mom2adoodle I'm so happy you've checked in and are doing well!! You've been on my mind constantly and I keep giving DH updates about you and Fin, he's very happy for you guys too!
So since we are so close to September now, I need opinions. My grandmother and aunt are flying in from Denmark from August 22nd - Sept 5th (terrible timing but the tickets were bought before I was pregnant). I'm due 9/12. They will be staying with my mom who lives about 50 minutes away from me - in the opposite direction of the hospital. I really want to take DS down there and visit them pretty much daily since I'll be on leave and my mom lives on the beach, but am having second thoughts because everyone seems to be nervous about me doing this. So here are the facts -
I'll be 37-39 weeks while they are here
My mom is 2 hours from the hospital I deliver at
My previous labor was less than 2 hours at 39+1
I'll be driving DS and myself without another adult in the car 90% of the time.
@Shiva14 - can you stay there once there at all? If it was me, I'd visit earlier in the week (closer to 37 weeks along) with the OK of my OB, and stay there for a couple days if feasible to limit the amount of driving.
@AnnaS930 normally yes, but because they (my aunt and grandmother) are staying there, there won't be room for DS and I.
I thought that might be the case. I'd still try to go early on in their stay and see how things go. The super short labor has me a bit concerned, but OB will have a recommendation for you.. I can't remember when mine wanted me within an hour of the hospital, might have been 36 weeks?
Re: August Randoms!!!
How the heck is it August?
Cannot believe it's our month eve - where has the time gone!
