@jwittwer thank you!! We used cedar plank wood (fencing style) sanded them and stained them walnut. My husband marked studs on the walls and finish nailed them to the wall. Two big things though... If the wood if fresh it's quite wet and needs to dry for several weeks because it will shrink about 1/2-1". Second I suggest painting the wall a darker color first in case you do have some shrinkage so you don't see glaring white between the slats.
I finally finished the nursery! I had been putting it off until school ended and I had free time. I refinished the dresser/changing table that my older 2 used, but the crib is new.
By art for the walls I obviously meant vintage posters from my records. Because who else should a growing kid look up to if not Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel?
@dani1124 beautiful nursery! Where did you get the shelves for the books? Are they the Ikea spice racks? I've seen a few people using those or are they specific for books?

@Adough27 – I got the lamp
shade from pottery barn kids and the base from target.
@Lynna813 – The shelves are
from Ikea, but they are not the spice rack shelves. I think they were called a photo
frame shelve. I liked these better because they were already white and I didn’t
have to paint them. I have the spice rack
shelves in my older daughters room and they work good too. I was trying to find
them online but Ikea website is confusing!
Almost done with the nursery! I just need to paint letters of baby's name and hang them above the changing pad, move the swing and vibrating chair downstairs and clean out the toys from the crib! All of that will wait until after baby is born though.
I put most of my finishing touches on the nursery tonight since I actually had the time to do it, plus my EDD is in a week. It's not nearly as pinterest worthy as a lot of the others posted here, but I'm still really proud of how it turned out. I think all that's left is getting new knobs for the dresser we refinished and filling it with his clothes...I have to say I envy all of you who have closet space for your little ones. I'm having to get creative with storage/organization and I'm still not sure how I'm going to make it all fit.
Well I'm a week out and I finally get to post in this thread. I'm really proud of how we turned our little office into a nursery. We left the existing bookshelves where they were but created some space on them for baby things. This room is only about 8x8 so it's tight but it works.
Finally feeling like the nursery is done, just a few things left to do (like throwing empty boxes away). May need a few more pops of color but liking how it turned out.
Finally got the nursery put together (39+6 - I'm counting it as on time still :-P ) The walls need some art and I want a rug for the floor eventually...also filled those shelves with some of my childhood books after the pic was taken.

dani1124 Their website is a bit confusing I agree! I googled Ikea photo frame shelves and this came up. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40291766/
Much cheaper than what I have found on Amazon! Thank you!
