  • @theshannondee for the same purpose I like this product as well (Mustela PhysioBebe No Rinse Cleansing Fluid)

  • @rakel88 I second the baby daybook - it's amazing! I love how it basically has a stopwatch for staring and ending BF sessions plus diaper changes and anything else you can possibly think of
  • Anybody else try a sitz bath? How long do you soak for? Had a few stitches down there.... But Between nursing and everything else I'm wondering if it's at all worth it, as sometimes I'd rather just lie down whenever I get the chance. But I am extremely sore.
  • @rnyland1 I didn't do a sitz bath specifically but my dr did say to fill a tub with 4-6 inches of warm water and add baby soap and sit for 15 minutes three times a day for the first week. It felt really good actually and was kind of relaxing to get away for even a short time. You can grab a book and read for a bit or even play a game on your phone and just check out.

I just soaked in Epsom salt baths with lavender...sat on a folded up towel since I was sore, but it was so worth it. Helped with soreness and let me take a few minutes away to relax while DH kindly took care of LO.

  • I did Epsom salt baths for a while. They were helpful!! And it's easy to zone out and still take advantage of relaxing. I'd recommend it as a good use of your time!
  • Sitz baths were great last time, I resisted them for a while because I didn't feel like I had the time, but my husband started making me do them and it helped a ton!

Those Burt's Bees Baby face and hand wipes are AWESOME. I buy them by the case on Amazon via Subscription. I use them all the time for my toddler and I use them to remove my makeup at the end of the day, too. Besides moisturizer, they're the only thing I use on my face.
  • Anybody elses LOs have/had those white bumps all over their nose or cheeks? E has had them since birth and they don't seem to be clearing up. She is 3.5 weeks old.
  • @schaze yep! My LO has them on her nose. She is 2.5 weeks.
  • @schaze my little guy had similar bumps all over his body from birth. It looked like little pimples everywhere. Apparently its super common, something like 1 in 4 babies. Its called toxic- something even though its totally benign. He'll be 4 weeks on Monday and it's just clearing up now.
  • @schaze E had them over his nose and slight cheeks. Clogged pore looking things? They're underdeveloped oil glands. His cleared up to normal looking skin at about 4 weeks. I think that's what your talking about unless you mean the random zit baby acne? He just developed a couple of those a week ago and dabbing breast milk on them has cleared it up.
  • @schaze those only just cleared up recently for our LO between weeks 4 and 6 I'd say
  • @Schmooie730 yes to the hobbit life! I'm eating constantly! I ate a ton of barbecue last night and woke up ravenous at like 5 this morning!
  • @Schmooie730 elevensies is my favorite! I'm constantly snacking, mostly because I don't feel like actually cooking something.
  • I asked my midwife about my hip pain and returning sciatic pain. She said it takes 12 weeks for the relaxin to leave your system and that essentially my hip is not all the way in the socket. She referred me to a chiropractor to get it popped back into place and have my sciatic nerve worked on but they can't see me until next Wednesday!! Hooray for another week of taking care of a newborn and a dog without being able to put weight on my left leg! Here's to hoping it doesn't just snap in half while I'm carrying M!
  • @Schmooie730 yes! I'm always hungry! And it's too easy to eat crappy food!

  • I'm starving all the time too! I am making better choices than when I was pregnant, but I feel like I'm eating more and more often. The worst part is I ran out of snacks today so I'm sitting here waiting for my husband to get off work so he can go to the store for me! I haven't mastered leaving the house with my LO by myself yet so I'll just sit here and starve.
  • Catching up on this thread. @stellaluna14 yes I am still having some residual sciatic pain but not as bad as it was before I gave birth.

  • Thanks, ladies! It's not the acne, although she has that too. Good to know they are starting to clear up for all of your LOs too. Hopefully E isn't too far behind! @Schmooie730 yes! We are big LOTR nuts over here and have been referring to my snacking/E's in hobbit terms.. currently having afternoon tea ;)

Do all the salt soaks you can. Seriously helps the healing. I've done a soak then applied an ice pack and makes the day so much more tolerable with the pp aches and pains.

  • For any of you having issues with overly gassy babies, removing the dairy really has seemed to make a difference!! I could have cried earlier at how good she was being when awake and easy she was to get down!!! It made me so happy that her tummy is finally starting to feel better!! I'm not going to say it'll be easy to give up - the vegan/dairy free replacements are definitely different but my sanity and a happy baby comes first!! :)

@holly142 That's a great idea. DH is a super picky eater and we most appreciated some s'mores brownies we got when DD was born.

  • So when did some of you start feeling well enough to start going on short walks and start doing some baby wearing? I know everyone heals at different rates (I had a vaginal delivery). But I'm just wondering what's reasonable. I still feel like my body needs considerable rest and I easily overexert myself. Obviously I need to listen to my body but it's hard because I want to be able to start doing more.
  • @rnyland1 Probably at about 2.5 weeks. I started going stir crazy in the house 24/7 at the same time as I started feeling better. I tore and my first set of stitches had fallen out by then. I still have a deeper set that hasn't healed yet and I still get winded pretty easy but I've been trying to get out and walk every day, even if it's just 10 minutes.
I still need to listen to my body though as its easy to overdo it.
  • @rnyland1 I was way too eager and was running errands two days after we were discharged. I didn't do anything too taxing but I have a tough time being "confined" so to speak, lol. I wasn't moving fast but for me, even something was better than nothing. Also I had my husband there to help with baby. Did not attempt baby wearing for like 3 weeks though.
  • C-section here but about 3 weeks in we started on short walks with me pushing the stroller and husband walking the dogs. I baby wear almost every day and that started around the same time.
  • I know last time I worked out all the way through the end and was baby wearing and out and about at 3 days. I also have a high pain tolerance and felt fine by then (with a second degree tear) although I bled heavily for a few weeks. I was running errands, shopping, etc. but am not one to go for walks though.

  • @rnyland1 at 5 days PP we walked him in the stroller to the pediatrician which is about 3 blocks away. It was another week or so before I started baby wearing because he was a little small for our tula at first. I just started slow and try not to push myself too hard bit it feels great to walk around.
  • 3 weeks for me @rnyland1
  • @rnyland1 I was 4 days pp and went for a walk it was nice to get out and have been trying to get out once a day with her either to walk or go to the store for my own mental health

  • I'm able to do short walks around our apartment complex parking lots, but I get tired pretty easily. We're going to walk around the mall tonight since it's so hot out, so I'm hoping having the distraction of shopping can help me go a little longer :) I also just started baby wearing this week. We had to wait until she was 8 pounds for our specific carrier, and then I wanted to be sure I was comfortable with all the straps before putting her in myself. We love it though!

Has anybody had sex since being PP? I have 2.5 weeks until my 6 week appointment, but I'm really nervous/excited (it's almost like the first time all over again!). Worried about pain and being too different "down there" that it won't be as good.
  • @schaze We haven't had sex yet but I am ready! Just waiting for doctor's clearance. I told DH that it will be virgin sex: slow, gentle and lotsa lube. I'm excited for it!
July BMB Siggy Challenge: Weird Hot Dog Situations
  • I had a c-section and DH and I went out with the LO a few days after being discharged. I could only go short spurts before my incision started to ache and I have a high pain tolerance as well. I do think the walking and getting up and around helped the healing process overall. I'm 3 weeks post-op and post-baby and am totally back to normal now, going out and about on my own with LO. I'd love to take neighborhood walks but it's 100 degrees these days. No pain anymore, just itchiness and a bit tender at times. I haven't taken any pain meds since that first week.
  • Ok, obviously I've been pushing myself too hard because my bleeding has started up again...probably calling into the nurses line if this continues. Sucks because I hate feeling so helpless.
  • Are any of you post partum ladies driving yet? Or any plans as to when to drive ?
  • Yep. I was driving just 3 days postpartum
