I ordered a maternity dress for a wedding on Jet.com. I'm happy with it, and wasn't too expensive at <$40 (free returns-so I wasn't afraid to buy online)
I've seen maternity dresses at H&M, Motherhood Maternity, Macy's, Gap & BonTon that would dress up well for a party. -if you have those in your area? And, from your build, you could always try shoping at your usual stores and find something non-maternity that is stretchy, high waisted, wrap dress, etc that you could wear.
Hey! Funny girl, I seriously will be needing them too. I know I'm one of the only 2 people in the world to still wear them but I'll definitely be needing them. But hey! It will be cold here like 20s 30s maybe lower, so that should earn me a little slack lol
Also a big fan of opaque tights.i wear dresses to work & its far too cold in winter for bare legs. Infact im already back in black tights for the past few weeks as weve had a noticable drop in temperature
Does anyone know of any stores that sell plus size maternity underwear? The catch is that they would have to ship to Canada. I am having an awful time finding something local, and buying bigger just means they slip down during the day

@hispenguin - Have you tried Amazon Canada? Amazon in general has so many things I would bet you could find some there. I'm in the US and was able to get my maternity bras from them
@BlondePeanut I have looked on Amazon.ca as well as the U.S. Version. I try about once a month to see if there's anything new but haven't had much luck so far.

Thought I would throw this out there in case there are any other short mamas like me who are having a hard time finding maternity pants that fit right. I'm 5'1 and usually get my jeans in the juniors department and sometimes even the kids department if I want a skinny jean that doesn't need to be hemmed. I found a pair of full panel maternity jeans at Ross that fit me pretty good, but couldn't find any good skinny jeans to wear with boots. I finally found the perfect "jeans" at Kohls in the kids department. They are super stretchy, not actual denim, and have this soft stretchy waistband, so they fit kind of like demi panel maternity pants, but I fold the waistband down because my belly starts really low, and they are super comfy! https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-2603878/girls-7-16-plus-size-so-ribbed-waist-denim-skinny-jeans.jsp?color=Piper I hope nobody takes this as braggy or anything. I know discussing size/weight can be an iffy subject and I'm in no way am trying to show off that I'm little, but knowing how hard it can be to find clothes, I'm really excited about these pants and thought I'd share as kind of a PSA in case there's any others like me on here.
edited for poor choice of words and also to add I just realized the link goes to a kind of crazy bleached looking color. That's not what I got, lol. I got the ones that look like regular jeans.
I saw the words "tiny mamas" and immediately left the thread. And them came back to post this.
Ok, maybe that was the wrong words to use. Edited because I don't wan to rub anyone the wrong way. I know I would appreciate a post like this, so I thought it might be helpful for someone else.
@pennylucille oh no! I'm Sorry! I didn't mean to make you feel guilty or anything! I was just bashing myself out loud. Honestly, you go ahead and post freely. I've been on the other side, too, and I used to hate it when people made me feel guilty for being skinny and they'd dismiss me.
Has anyone bought any maternity clothes from asos? Im getting close to my own clothes not quite fitting any longer & there are a few dresses im thinking of getting for work but i was wondering about the quality of their stuff as it seems relatively cheap compared to some other maternity clothes ive looked at.
@kswiger06 I'm never sure what "cocktail" really means but I got my wedding guest dress for the fall at Pink Blush. The quality is meh, but you wouldn't know that to look at it. It only has to last through three events so NBD.
@Janefelicity I have! I would say it's like H&M. Not the best quality by any means, but not horrible. I've washed them a few times and used the dryer and they help up pretty well!
@pennylucille Thanks for the tip! I'm 5'3" with short legs so I have trouble with getting the right fit/length combo as well, but I had gotten away from looking at the younger sections. Looks like I'll have to give it another shot- especially since it looks like some brands go up beyond a 14/16 now.
Got my second order of maternity shirts from Old Navy last night and am so happy... I think I've averaged around $10/shirt, including some nice flowy tops, dolemans, etc. I almost have enough tops to completely leave my non-maternity stuff in the closet for the next five months. My only note is that their v-necks are a bit much for my chest size (so much cleavage). Those shirts are going to be for under sweaters or just hanging around the house. Definitely not fit for public wear.
@Xstatic3333 I really wasn't sure about "cocktail" either but was originally told to wear that type of dress. From observation I noticed the women generally wear above the knee (but not hoochie) dresses. They are "formal" but not like highschool prom type. I'm looking for an above the knee, fitted, formal dress basically lol. And thanks for the suggestion.
Can we talk for a sec about maternity stores? I finally ventured into a Destination Maternity last week and was just so put off by the place. Cutesy AF, cluttered, and expensive. No thank you. I've had a lot of success with online shopping so far and I think I'll stick to it. Is it just my maternity store that's awful, or are many of them an unpleasant experience?
@niceymeany the only physical store I've been to for maternity clothes is the Motherhood Maternity section of a Macy's store and it actually wasn't bad. I felt like a lot of the clothes were just practical and simple--neutral colors of tank tops, t-shirts, leggings, jeans, etc. I'm hoping to find a larger selection though because I'd rather shop in person than online and this was literally like a tiny upstairs corner of the store.
@NiceyMeany I've seen maternity sections in stores that were ok, but the only full maternity store I've been in was a motherhood maternity. I thought it was over priced, and they seemed to only carry semi dress clothes. Well, in my opinion too dressy. I'm more casual than that store had to offer. I've had better luck shopping at burlington coat factory, or purchasing gently used stuff online. I've been put off by the experience of that maternity store just because I felt like the ladies working it acted like I had no other options.
@NiceyMeany I had the exact opposite experience in a Destination Maternity, how funny. There was a local store that was small, crowded, and pushy, and when I went into Destination, they had complimentary water bottles, places to sit, a huge selection, and a massive sale section with off-season stuff that was really discounted. It was a slightly out-of-town, outlet-y kind of place, so maybe them having more space was the reason why it was such a different experience.
@yogadevil the mom of a girl my daughter goes to school with mentioned it. I had been there before but didn't realize they had a maternity section either. I was so excited!
I've taken a liking to literally just wearing underwear if I'm home, so I decided to venture to Victoria's Secret for a few more pairs today since I'm slacking on laundry duty and clearly buying more pairs was the solution. Not doing a load of laundry. Anyways, as I walked around the store an obnoooooxious sales clerk followed me around and literally demanded I not buy certain pairs and only buy others because of my 'condition', as she called it. She clearly heard me tell DH I was pregnant and that I had certain pairs at home that I liked and my reasons why. Also, I don't understand why VS doesn't have maternity undies and nursing bras... it was wearing your product that got me in this 'condition'... ;-)
@TeacherMom2517 I also don't understand why VS doesn't carry nursing bras or maternity underwear. I am glad they have DDD now though since that is my new size!

I finally found a bra that fits, is comfortable and doesn't leave me with bubble boobs after an hour: https://amzn.com/B003FTLE30. And, I still have one cup size higher I can buy if these things keep growing. This has been such a struggle... Now I need to decide how many I can buy.
