Re: Weekly Randoms (7/18)

  • Are most of your doctors going by the dating scan for your EDD?
  • Loading the player...
  • I just didn't switch when I realized I was a day early. I mean every week I get to think "see you next Tuesday" to everyone

Mine is. It was 4 days off from LMP, but fits with when I ovulated.
  • I think mine goes by the dating U/S
  • My ultrasound tech told me I could choose. I wonder if that's weird though.
  • Oh I have another one. Look i have a mystery bruise that looks just like my tattoo, over my tattoo

  • @PerraSucia are you the black sheep of the family or does it have another meaning.

  • @kswiger06 I have a grumpy white sheep on the other calve.  The black ones just happier with life  :)
  • My dating US put me 6 days ahead of LMP and the tech said they will still go by LMP because some babies are just bigger. That's kinda a big gap to me so I'm  going by dating US plus that date is on point to when I ovulated so I know it is more accurate.
  • My LMP and dating US were actually the same but my doctor had said if they are different they kind of go with a mix of both dates. Not really sure what that means though... My guess is they'd use the LMP but keep in mind the dating US.

    EDD 3/8/20 <3 DS2 born on 3/10/20
    EDD 11/24/23
    (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)

  • Mine were only a day different which, given the variability in measuring such a tiny thing via u/s, I thought was pretty damn perfect. Doc kept it with LMP.
  • My dating ultrasound put me 3 days ahead but my OB isn't changing my due date because it's not a big enough difference. Mine only changes it if it's a week or more. So I'm sticking to my LMP.

  • Because I don't know my O date, I'm going by my first U/S.  The one I had earlier this week had the baby measuring 5 days ahead and the dr. decides not to change my due date just yet.  She said the original date is probably the most accurate and it would take a few more U/S all showing the new date in order to move it.

  • We will see after my u/s next Friday! LMP puts me at 2/13, o date at 2/14. One day doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but just to be sure for induction avoidance. We won't move the due date forward only back.

  • I'm going by O date and so is my doctor.  O date, LMP, and U/S all give three different dates with O date being the furthest out.

  • When I had my first US baby measured 4 days ahead and the tech said they would stick with LMP. But when the doctor came in to talk to me, she asked if my periods were very regular which they are. So she said we would go by the dating US and moved my due date up. I was tracking O and I believe that I just implanted early because I even got my bfp 5 days before my expected period. It also depends on what your doc wants to do.

  • I am just using my LMP date.   My first ultrasound was right on, second was 6 days ahead, but they can be off by 5 days.  It seemed simpler and I didn't have to adust anything.

  • My O date and initial dating ultrasound were within 1 day with the US setting the due date earlier by 1 day, so that's what my Dr decided to go with.  By LMP I would have been a few days later, but I don't remember exactly how many- I think 3?  At my second ultrasound (at 10 weeks vs the first at 6 weeks) I was measuring 4 days ahead, so I'm curious to see how long baby stays ahead of the growth curve while simultaneously praying not to get too far ahead.

  • My husband planned 2 camping trips coming up. 1 at kiptopeke in late August before driving to a beach house... the other in a couple weeks just here at a local park as a "trial run". We've never taken our kids camping yet and thought a close trip would be smart to try in case it doesn't go well, and we will be semi close to home. Unfortunately I was completely horrified at 3 am today, when I remembered while making my nightly bathroom trip that I get up every single night to go pee. I expressed my concern and clear worry about walking who knows how far to a toilet in the middle of the night and basically my husband laughed it off and said we can take a "potty chair" whaaaat?!? All the camping crap has been flooding my head all freakin day. Lying on the ground ugh... climbing in and out of a tent ugh, not having my own sanitary bathroom uughhhh. This is going to totally suck!!

2.5 and throw that little butt in some undies and hope and pray for the best! Hahahahaha. Plus m&ms. We tried before and she just wasn't ready but now she seems to really get it. It helps that her daycare is on board too.
  • I fell down a rabbit hole looking at bottles for a while, and now I'm pretty sure I've completely settled on the bottles we're going to use- the Kiinde Twist, and I'm ridiculously excited about them.  It's a bag system where they've made adapters to fit all major brands of breastpumps and bottle tops (or they have their own bottle top).  Biggest perks are 1) pump, freeze, thaw, and feed directly into/from 1 bag (regardless of pump/bottle top brand! with inexpensive adaptor) 2) only have to wash the bottle tops/pump parts 3) bags are not much more expensive than lansinoh storage bags (about $0.25 per bag for the 80 pack of 6 oz bags on amazon).

I've BF'd/pumped with both other babies where I pumped into a bottle, poured into the storage bags, thawed the milk from the bags, and poured it into the bottles and it was a pain!  We used tommee tippee bottles before and I eventually got an adaptor to pump straight into them, but those bottles are so freaking big they were annoying to transport so even if I didn't have to store the milk before we used it the next day, I was still pumping into the Medela bottles and pouring into the tommee tippees every night.  Plus having to wash all the bottles everyday.  Its way too soon for me to so excited about bottles, but I completely am.

  • Yah mine is 2 in a couple months and we talk about it to her but she just doesn't care at all right now. I think we've still got a bit to go.
  • @silvercamaro77 those sound awesome I'm going to look into them too!!

My mom tells everyone about how she had all 5 of her kids completely potty trained by 2 years old (not counting for helping wipe the bottoms)... now that I've had to train 2 of my own I have questioned her math timeline... no freakin way! Her argument is that we were so close in age she was spending a fortune on diapers and said she had no choice but get us trained as quickly as possible.

Edit! I just remembered though that she did do her own wipes... I might try to get her "recipe" and share with you ladies if interested.

I have seen kids who are ready before 2 but it's rare!! Mine isn't even close and I am ok with that. I feel like the hassle of every 20 Min of having to take her to the bathroom... Ugh...

Wipes are so cheap!! I totally thought I would be one of the moms who made the wipes, and all the food, and would wash the paci. Lol that went out the door so fast! Whose got time for that?? Not me. I know some people do and they are amazing!

I turned out out to be a completely different mom than I thought I would be.

As for the bottles. I did the pump into bottles then pour into bags then back to bottles to drink.  it's a hassle but that's the one thing I kept on with for a year.

  • @BumpasaurusRex - Where are we with August siggy challenge?  o:)
I still have to put up a poll for people to vote on July's winner!  Do I?  Is that a thing or are the challenges just for fun?

I will post a thread for August just to get ideas rolling and then do the winner thread after.

That's a thing! Thanks for organizing all of this.
  • @FishyMom I never made the wipes either haha, I feel like the luvs commercials. I was Pickier with my first but when #2 came 2 1/2 years later I had most certainly learned lol I wish I was one of those mom's that seem to have 50 hours in a day but I'm more like the one who's lucky to get 15 hours a day. So much to do so little time.

  • Potty training was one of my favorite things about daycare, but I do wish they started practicing earlier.  They made it so easy because once they hit the 2 YO room they take a potty break every 2 hours and everyone lines up and sits on the potty even if they don't actually do anything.  Since everyone does it, they just all go along until they get the idea and actually start using it.  Both of my kids were potty trained by 2.5 (DS still sleeps in a pull up just in case, but wakes up dry almost every morning).

When DS was in the 1 YO room they decided to spend a couple months practicing with the kids because most were 18 mos - 2 YO and DS started consistently peeing in the potty (and from what they said several of the other kids were too), but DS was on the younger end of that older group and as the majority of that group moved into the 2 YO room the teachers stopped practicing so DS stopped.  I was frustrated because we were sooo close to being done early!

  • @Starfish113 I was looking up the Kiinde bottles again to make note of what a good price is and found their facebook page which led me here where you can get Essential Kit for the cost of shipping (looks like about $8).  According to comments on the FB page as well, once you get that essential kit it will have a 50% off coupon for the big kit that includes the neat warmer they make (makes the kit $50 from $100- amazon has it listed for $85 and zulily has it for $65, so it looks like a legit deal).

I hit the button to get the kit, but am still waiting on the e-mail for it.

  • Woah awesome. I'm gonna try that too. Thanks!!
