  • Is it bad I was wondering how many calories are in that glucose drink I just had? Yuck!

  • Thanks @bnsmith85!  I have been looking at those!  Our neighbor starts juicing at 6:30AM and it wakes the shit out of me on weekends!  I have it in my cart now. :)

Do any of you ladies have the roomba?  I'm contemplating getting one, but it's a lot of $$$ and I want to see if it really made your life any better.  Ha.
  • @annabenanna ... DH did a LOT of research before purchasing a robot vac for our home. We went with the Neato (I can ask him the model if you want b/c he was also particular about that). One of the (many) reasons he chose that over a roomba (and several other robot vacs) is b/c roombas just bounce around your house to vacuum. The Neato actually remembers where it's been and learns your floor layout with each vacuum. We set ours on a schedule to vacuum every night downstairs at like 2am and almost never think about it... except to empty the dirt bin. Also, we're able to wash the filters for the Neato so we're not spending an arm and a leg on those all the time. They don't necessarily tell you to do that, just something we've found that is easy to do and saves us lots of money.
  • oh @bnsmith85, I'd love to find out the model if you could ask him!  DH and I had a convo yday because of how shitty I felt over the weekend...and I think one of the keys to my sanity is keeping the house clean (er).  I'd love to invest in a robot vac.  I saw one on Amazon that's from China, called the iLife.  Great reviews, but you never know until you use it you know?
  • @ignoscemihi I'm not sure what my deal is. I started out overweight and I've already gained more than I did my whole pregnancy with my first, but I just can't do anything about it. I've been eating better than I did my first pregnancy, and I can't exercise since I'm on bed rest, so I guess I've just accepted it and moved on. It's just one extra thing to worry about and I don't want to waste my energy on it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • @ignoscemihi I totally felt the way you do with my first!

Did you find anything good?  The only good thing I got was 128 Newborn diapers from Pampers for like $14.
  • I got a fire kids tablet and accessories to go with it, a crock pot (I may be the only person without one, but H has always said "we have one...it's called an oven." Boo to him), and a bunch of toys. There is some burt's baby bee soaps I bought. I haven't even started looking at anything for this baby yet. I didn't get anything I really need, just a bunch of stuff I wanted. Amazon prime is too easy for me to spend money on a normal day.

I've TOTALLY been thinking about this! According to MFP, 10 oz of Glucola has 200 calories. :)

  • I haven't bought anything for my baby...  I just have like 2 diaper boxes, 2 blankets, like 6 pairs of socks, and about 15 onesies newborn and 0-3months. That's it....

no crib, no car seat.... am I the only one?

  • @annabenanna... he said it's the Botvac 65 and said that the Botvac ones are the newer and better ones. And I highly recommend it. I swear, coming downstairs in the morning to freshly vacuumed carpet makes you feel like your house is so much cleaner. I realize we still need to dust and things like that, but I think this is one of my favorite purchase we've made in the past few years.

@ingoscj ... your H is crazy. Oven =/= crockpot :) I cosign to that purchase!
  • I got to play mom today! The 10 year old I'm supporting in summer school fell and of course busted open his knee (aka he knocked off a scab and it started bleeding).  We got him to the office and as his counsellor started getting the gloves on and pulling out the first aid kid, I grabbed some paper towel and a bandaid.  I was totally going to take over when he told me they could get in trouble if they didn't follow procedure, so I stepped back....until he left then I redid it and cleaned him up nicely lol

@annabenanna I love our Roomba. I have never programmed it to run when I'm not around (I'm assuming that's possible), but being able to start it up and magically having clean floors is SO. NICE. My husband was set on getting one and I was lukewarm, but man I love it.

I didn't know a Roomba didn't learn the layout. When I run it, it always gets all of the carpet - you can tell from the lines. So, it's at least sophisticated bouncing around. ;-)

  • Thanks @bnsmith85!  I'm now elbow deep into the robot vac research.  SO MANY CHOICES AND BRANDS!  I also added the sound machine to our baby registry! :)

@F47 , thank you!  You guys are all convincing me!  I wish there was a robot duster, who can dust and wipe counter tops too. LOL.

@annabenanna... can you post the diaper link. You're going to think I'm an idiot, but I'm on Amazon, and I see the diapers, but the only option it's giving me is to subscribe and save... not add to cart so I can utilize the prime deal.

Also, can everyone just start posting all the prime deals they're finding and loving :) I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see!
  • I have no idea how much I've gained. I face the other way when I get weighed and I have a do not
tell note in my file. I can wear pre-pregnancy pants (unbuttoned) so I feel okay, but I know I've gained and I'm okay with it for now because trying to keep my weight in check during pregnancy is like trying to pick up grains of rice with my toes. Especially
because I'm not on my Adderall now.

  • @bnsmith85, that's what I did! :)  Subscribe and Save... at check out it gave me the discount for subscribe and save ($6.99) and then an additional Prime Day savings of $12.23... I just set my google calendar to remind me to cancel my subscription. :)
  • okay... I'm so glad I'm not a crazy person! @annabenanna

I'm with you there.  My MIL bought a bunch of outfits/bibs/blankets, our nursery decor, and 2 boxes of diapers.  Other than that I have nothing.  My mom is buying the crib so I haven't bought that.    My shower is August 20th so I'm trying to wait,  but I'm not prepared for baby at all
  • I am SOOOOO looking into that robot vac. With 2 dogs and a cat... so much pet hair! Thanks for the suggestion!

  • My parents have a roomba and it gets kind of stuck on certain pieces of furniture. My mom still uses it though, she just checks on it every so often.

Also, Baby B has wedged himself against my right side which is a new thing. Usually I feel the majority of his movements in the middle of my stomach. It almost tickles on my side and it's making me laugh!

  • Am I insane for buying so many diapers?  I just got 128 of the Newborn Pampers swaddlers and also a box of 218 Size 1 Pampers Swaddlers as well.

I'm tempted to get Size 2 as well, or maybe another set of Size 1 from Huggies.  Am I cray?  Are they gonna go to waste?  The Prime Day discount is just so damn good!

My cats would MURDER a robot vac. It would be ugly.
we were REALLY worried about that with our dogs... they couldn't care less. I have to make them move because they will let it bump into them and run over their tails lol
  • So I suddenly had a craving for angel hair pasta today, but by the time I finally gave it and made it I was so hungry that while waiting for the water to boil and for the pasta to cook, I cut up and ate like half a container of grape tomatoes and half a cucumber and then as soon the pasta was done I put the other half of the container of tomatoes and devoured it... Now I'm over full and uncomfortable... Why is there no happy medium??
  • @bnsmith85 Oh I didn't think about a PP weight loss support group. That would be awesome! Last time I didn't have any kind of support, but I was also single and childless. So I had a lot of motivation and very little distraction. It will be A LOT different now that I have a husband, teenager, and new baby that all depend on me. Lol.

@maf9866 I feel the same way. I'm always starving or stuffed, no in between. I know it's partly lack of self-control, but sometimes it seems like I eat so little and I have to stuff myself to even get a decent amount of food in me.

  • @AllyTheKid a short stack is 58 cents today at Ihop. Go get you some pancakes!
  • @mayisch - I think I've only bought some zip up sleep & plays from carters so far. We are converting the garage to a 3rd bedroom so we have no place to put stuff anyway. But we have been saving since late first tri so we do have a fund for when we get space.

@annabenanna - you're not crazy. What is crazy is the fact that in a few months you will look back and be like "I thought that was SOOOO many diapers back when I bought them and now they're LONG gone. HAHAHA what did I know."

Did my glucose test today. My OB gave me the option of doing clif blocks in place of the sugar drink, which I wanted because the drink was soooo gross last time. Turns out eating 6 clif blocks on an empty stomach first thing in the morning is equally disgusting. If I fail this time (I failed my 1h and passed my 3h with DS) I might beg to just be treated for GD instead of having to do the 3h again. It seriously shot my whole day last pregnancy, plus I thought I was going to puke my guts out and then die after starving all day.

@NoraAurora if you fail (fingers crossed that you don't) maybe ask for a glucose meter? That's what I'm doing because I can't tolerate the drink. I don't fail the test, Because I can't even get the drink down. So this week I am responsible for measuring my fasting sugar (when I wake up) and 2 hours after either lunch or dinner. I don't like blood so I thought it would be horrible but it's really not. It's kind of intriguing. Either way it means I don't have to drink that crap. The meter ended up being free through my (crap) insurance but we did have to pay $60 for the test strips and lancets because they only come in packs of 100.

And since we get to keep the meter, it means my next pregnancy I am just going to tell my obgyn straight up that I'm just doing the meter.

Edit to add: my dr was really great about not trying to force me to try the drink again, he was just like 'ok we'll get you a meter'.

I got an iBaby monitor for $142 vs. $199 on Amazon today...not even sure if that's the monitor we want but it was a good deal & I figured I could just send it back if we decide on something different.

Also got a Babble band monitor for $40 on sale from $60...has anyone heard of this or done any research? I just came across it today & it looked cool.

I missed the diaper deal that you got @annabenanna ! I couldn't figure out out how to get the promotion once it was in my cart...but I was on my lunch break & in a hurry so I didn't have time to put a lot of effort into it, I'm kind of sad about that.
  • @NoraAurora, I got scared because my friend was all like "we didn't use newborn diapers at all...so you might have bought too many"  Ah whatever!  I can sell it if this baby turns out to be huge.

@Kaessi bummer!  Don't worry, I bet another good diaper sale will occur again before our due dates (hopefully!)
  • @NoraAurora... Keeping my FX that you pass your 1hr this time!

@annabenanna ... Or return them to Walmart or Target for a different size. I'm sure they'll take them back if it's just an exchange
