LO has been sneezing a lot lately And he coughed just a minute ago. Kinda getting worried. He has a dr appointment tomorrow because his jaundice levels keep going up and down so hopefully we can find out he's okay.
Elliott sneezes all the time. And coughs occasionally. I never gave it a second thought. Does he have a fever, lethargy, crying, any other signs that make you worry about a sneeze or cough? It sounds like the jaundice levels are something to maybe be concerned about but I wouldn't stress over the sneezes or a cough. Hang in there, I'm glad you have an appointment to ease your fears.
@theshannondee I second the white noise machine or static on the radio. But honestly I think most little ones go through the phase of screaming during car rides . Good luck - let us know if you find anything that works!
Those of you that have had their umbilical cord fall off, when did t happen? Layla will be two weeks tomorrow, hers is still on right now. I'd love for it to come off so she can have a real bath!!
LO is 13 days and hers is still there. I figure it won't stay forever but it would be easier for bath time.
@theshannondee I truly hope the car seat hatred is a short term thing for you. My son hated the car seat passionately, and screamed bloody murder every time he was in it. That lasted until over a year old for us, and still happens sometimes at a year and a half. My friend bought a little portable pad that had a gentle vibration in it, and she would stick it next to her son in the car seat to calm him down. I never tried it, but it's worth a shot!
My body rejected (pushed out) an IUD twice, and freaked out on the pill, so it's condoms then surgery for us. I wish the IUD had been successful. I loved it before it was rejected.
Mmm most of our LO's umbilical cord fell off after 10 days, but it seems like it's still not completely healed at 5 weeks so we've held off on real baths... Can't wait to do that...
Hormones attacked with a vengeance today and had me crying over postage stamps... I am really getting tired of being in pain all the time too, I need these antibiotics to start working their magic so I can feel human again.

I had my first meltdown yesterday - I'm calling it baby blues but keeping an eye out for PPD because I've had depression and anxiety in the past. I couldn't stop crying because I was convinced DD hates me and that I'm not cut out to do this. Today is slightly better, but it's my first day home alone with her so it's a little nerve-wracking. She's currently snuggled against me in the Boba, so that's nice! And guess what? I washed my face and got dressed this morning all by myself! It's the little things, I swear.

Hugs @joleri23! I've had a few emotional meltdowns myself. Between the hormones and then the change of having your husband go back to work I think it's completely reasonable. Definitely keep an eye on it and be kind to yourself right now!
@joleri23 Your LO definitely does not hate you!! And it's definitely stressful having the husbands gone and feeling you're going at it alone. But sounds like you're getting a lot accomplished and she's HAPPY!!! Don't beat yourself up. You're doing great!!!
My boobs are killing me today. They're still hard after pumping and my nipples are so freaking sensitive. I'm so uncomfortable. Also, I'm ready for my stitches to be completely healed. It takes me three times as long to use the bathroom at this point and they itch. I know at least 2 (possibly 3) have already come out but I have at least 2 left (not sure how many stitches I even had...they never said and I didn't ask). Also, this period can just be done too. In all, I'm completely over the PP recovery stuff. Aubrey is doing great and I have no worries about her, just ready to feel like a human being again.
@TiffRox81 my LO's took maybe 4-5 days to come off, I was surprised. I had only used alcohol on it a couple of times as it seemed to be drying out just fine on it's own. I was told to use alcohol a few times a day, but I've also heard that doing nothing and letting it do it's thing works just as well.
@DarkCat I have been thinking of the birth control route I want to take as well. I'm leaning towards the IUD just so that I can have it in there and not worry about it. I've heard amazing things, and I've heard horrible things. I guess I just have to give it a shot and see how I like it.
Mommas! What skin care/ bath products are you using on your babes? I got the honest company and it dried his skin out super super bad, now i used a sample of cetaphil cleanser, and he has pimples everywhere.. I don't wanna keep buying stuff and wasting money so any recommendations would be great!
Gas!!!! The struggle is real. My poor husband has always had tummy issues, allergies...the whole package. I was hoping she'd at least get my ability to process anything and everything in her tummy but it appears not. Anyone else having excessive gas issues? We're the proud owners of gripe water and gas drops and using both when needed. The Little Remedies gas drops helped but didn't cure the issue. Gripe water definitely made a bigger difference but I hate being reliant on these things for practically every feeding!!!
@joleri23 so many hugs to you! Glad you're keeping an eye on things. I was pretty proud of myself, this is my first day alone too now that DH is back to work, and I was able to put my contacts in, wash my face, and poop without E making any kind of a fuss! I did all this with the bathroom door open, but baby steps.
Babyganics is good, we used Burt's Bees, and I use Mustela for my daughter in the winter when she's prone to excema. You can find all three brands on Amazon, or at Target.
@bunkie999- DD really struggles with eczema. We use and love California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo and Body Wash. I bought it at Target. It was expensive but lasts a really long time. We only bath her every couple of days. After patting her dry, we lather her with Aquaphor. I try to eliminate fragrances everywhere. I wash all our clothes with homemade laundry detergent, but a free and clear one would work too. I use wool balls instead of dryer sheets. Good luck!
@Schmooie730 DITTO! I can't wait to be able to go to the bathroom like normal! How do you know your stitches came out? I think I have a little chafing going on from these stupid pads. ugh!
Also, how long are you ladies using the tucks/witch hazel pads?
@holly142 thanks so much, I'm in Canada so sadly we don't have target but I'll see if I can find that anywhere. I have been using a laundry ball.. Would you mind sharing how you make your laundry soap?
anyone dealing with diaper rash already??? I feel terrible but we change her diaper all the time and use diaper rash cream each changing... It looks like it's getting worse too... We have an apt on Thurs but I don't know if we should call... any recommendations? She has about 10 red bumps and I honestly can't tell if it's possibly yeast... (Google pictures are so severe that I couldn't differentiate) She's had it for the past few days so it's leading me to believe it may not be just regular diaper rash. I'm using aquafor (has zinc oxide ) as well as a&d ointment ( no powder) and pampers wipes. Also EBF...
@joleri23 proud of you for doing even those little things, for being aware and on the lookout for possible PPD, and for getting out today, and you should be proud too! You're doing a great job, and your daughter, while she doesn't really have the concept of love yet, depends on you and loves you for everything you do for her
We've used Honest Co. baby wash and like it. We also have the California Baby stuff but haven't tried it yet.
@PinkLady2015- naked time is great for diaper rashes! If you have any of the bed pads from the hospital (mine are blue that you lay on in case you bleed) you can put that under baby to catch pee or poop. I also made wipes with 1 cup water, 1 TBSP coconut oil and 1 TBSP baby wash poured over a roll of paper towels that I cut in half. I folded them and store them in a regular wipes container. The coconut oil really helps. https://thenewlighterlife.com/homemade-baby-wipes/
@bunkie999- This is the recipe I've used the last 2 times. However, I skipped the essential oil since I didn't have it and didn't want to spend money on it. I made it with another friend and split the detergent and cost.
@PinkLady2015 we are having some diaper rash issue, ours is redness versus bumps. We have seen success with Butt Paste and then adding 2 tbsp of baking soda to his bath and letting him lounge. He still has a tiny spot left which makes me wonder if I need something stronger for that? I keep hearing naked time is good.
@joleri23 Hang in there momma, you're doing a great job! These days are hard and hormones can make them even harder, but you can do it and it sounds like you ARE doing it.
@PinkLady2015 We've also had good success with butt paste, but definitely talk to your doctor if you think it might be more than just a rash!
Is excessive gas pain a postpartum thing? I've had these awful awful flare ups of excruciating abdominal pain, which I thought was all due to my UTI in my kidney thing but tonight it just felt like horrible gas pain that I couldn't get out for anything. I guess our intestines kind of do a lot of repositioning as everything tries to go back to normal, does that tend to make it harder to get gas out? I spent an hour in the tub and I think that helped relax everything enough to move things along, but I really am over these episodes.

@joleri23 I second what everyone else said! I have moments where I think I can't do this and it's really scary... and moments where I am convinced she likes my husband better than me already (for no good reason!) it helps me to know other people are also on the lookout for PPD/A... big hugs
@TiffRox81 my LO is also struggling with gas this pas week... so far we've just been monitoring it but I'll ask my pediatrician this week, I'll let you know if she has any good auggestions...
Do they do still do footprints/ handprints at the hospital or do I need to do that on my own at home? Amazon prime has a deal today on a washable ink kit for this purpose and it made me think of it.

Qbf - ours did give us the "practice" copies, but it's something you might want to ask about.

Eta: question added
We went for a family walk this afternoon and I ended up having to breastfeed in public. It wasn't my favorite experience, but I survived!
