@BecauseBabyIamAPug congratulations on Alex! Thanks for sharing your story. Praying your recovery (both mentally and physically) is a quick healing process. Congrats @PootsDragon - love reading your happy birth story and seeing adorable baby!
I really don't know how you overdue ladies are coping, I've two weeks until my due date and I'm just so over pregnancy right now. I just the baby to be here now!
Today I calculated that the halfway point between my birthday and DH's birthday is July 12-13th. With EDD being July 12th, I find this really really weird. If baby decides to arrive then it will be even weirder.
Even weirder that I actually took the time to figure it out. I have too much time on my hands!!
I bought a can of rainbow chip icing at the grocery store and am currently dipping pretzels into it. No shame at all. Animal crackers would have been better though.
I didn't want to bump the "Oma" thread but those of you whose parents have partners, would you consider them a grandparent? My father has been with his partner over 10 years but I wouldn't refer to her as mom or anything. I know her grandchildren refer to my father by his name and I'm just wondering should I do the same with her? Or would it just be your personal preference?
@LF93 my step mom has been with my dad since I was 5, but I'm hesisatent on having LO call her grandma, even though she keeps referring to herself as such. Mainly because as I was growing up she kept telling people she was my mom and that drove me crazy because she wasn't. I don't want to hurt her feelings so I'm just gonna let baby decide what she wants to call her when it's time. She's also driving me crazy with the car seat she bought to put in her car and the clothes she's buying to keep at her house. I think she thinks she will be the main caregiver once baby is here, when she won't be. But that's totally different subject lol.
@Weville@nikkimarie159 Thanks ladies, I think I may just refer to her as Nanny (name) for now and when baby gets older he can decide himself what to call her. Plus I think the fact that BF's parents died years ago I may have to run it past him and see how he feels about it. I don't think I'd like if she start referring to herself as Grandma without asking me first, we'll have to just wait and see how it all pans out. I don't want to be stepping on my mothers toes either!
@LF93 If you get bored and feel like reading through another randoms thread, there was someone else wondering the same thing a few months back. I thought the responses were really good and helpful.
@dachshundmomma my hands are so swollen I can't even wear DHs ring right right now. It sucks and at this point I don't know how much is swelling and how much is weight I'll need to lose.
@LF93 First babies in my family are pretty much all over a week late, so I just had in my head that DD probably would be late. Well, I was induced 11 days late so I have similar expectations again. I think the term "due date" sets women up for disappointment since left to their own about half of babies come after it. But when you have that date in your head for 9 months and are uncomfortable, I get how it's upsetting to go past it.
@whataboutscience It's the opposite in my family, first babies are always early. I know not to expect him to come other than when he's ready though. I think all of us are just getting to the end now and the fed up feeling is kicking in. I just keep saying to myself "soon". haha
My cousin and friend who delivered back in March were both 2-3 weeks early as FTM's so I had it in my head that this was "normal" even though my doctor keeps telling me that FTMs usually go later.
My due date based on ovulation was 7/18, and they changed it based on my NT Scan at 12 weeks, to 7/12. When I had the anatomy scan, they estimated somewhere in between but it wasn't enough of a difference to change the EDD. So I'm not sure when to even expect this LO to show up. Still doesn't feel like we're getting any closer but I'm driving myself crazy overanalyzing every little twinge.
@sboston06 Size at the time of the anatomy scan would not be a very accurate way to estimate the due date since baby's growth can vary so much by then. If you are confident of your ovulation date, I would use that. However, from my understanding an u/s within the first 12 weeks is supposed to be accurate to within just a few days. I don't expect a due date to be a hard date, but I think having more than one day would make me crazy. I didn't track anything TTC though and was so irregular that I just go by first u/s.
Sooooo...who else has been peed on during a diaper change?
More times than I care to admit! I try to cover him so it won't happen but he is quicker than I am sometimes. At least he hasn't peed in my mouth right?
@jjtruffles Three times already! It is crazy. She also had an explosive poop. It shot out and went all over my pants. Putting a blanket under her did nothing.
