I joined the due-in-July-born-in-June club today. I was due 7-19 but was induced at 37 weeks due to IUGR (growth restriction). Baby was measuring in the 3rd percentile, which suggests that the placenta isn't working and substantially increases risks of stillbirth. Needless to say, we were beyond thrilled to welcome a tiny but tough 4 lbs 10 oz baby, Elliot James. We made sure NICU was there at delivery just in case he needed something (which was TOUGH because I was only in "active" labor for 45 minutes and the drs almost missed the 1 and a half pushes it took for him to come out. We are so thrilled that he is healthy and happy. This pregnancy has been incredibly stressful, thanks to myriad issues (Clomid and trigger shot to get pregnant, vanishing twin, quad screen that suggests greater than 1 and 6 chance of downs, amnio that said no downs -- which was a bright spot -- IUGR and gestational diabetes. Basically, if I had had pre-eclampsia I would have had a full house of pregnancy related issues). But it's all behind us now and we -- thankfully -- have a healthy and happy baby boy (who, as of yet, hasn't had to visit the NICU.
Harper Emory was born on June 29th at 12:12pm via scheduled c-section (breech all the way throughout pregnancy.) She was 39w2d. The surgery went perfectly but was one of the strangest things I've ever done. Didn't feel any pain but just pressure and tugging. It was insane. DH has been super helpful though we didn't sleep much last night. She's been doing great today and breastfeeding is somewhat of a challenge but we are both getting better. I'm pretty sore but am trying to get up and around which is helping. Got the SCDs taken off and IV unplugged as well as catheter taken out so I feel a little more normal today. Looking forward to my hot shower later. We are so in love with this little girl and all of her hair!
Milo Fox was born June 30th at 4:34 am. I had a membrane sweep at 2:30 pm, contractions started at 10:30pm, and he joined us just 6 hours later after 45 minutes of pushing. It was unexpectedly intense and quick but also exhilarating and empowering. My midwife team was laughing because I couldn't help but smile and laugh in between pushes because the whole experience was so unbelievable to me.
He is absolutely magical.
ETA stats: He was born at 39+5 and weighs exactly 7lbs.
Zoe was born today, 6/30! I had a c-section scheduled for 7/5, but my water started slowly leaking at 4:30 AM. Contractions started about 6 AM. I went to my OB's at 8 AM and my water started gushing. She sent me straight next door to labor and delivery. I was 3 CM dilated and 100% effaced. I was prepared for the OR and in those 20 minutes advanced to 5 CM. I was asked if I wanted to try a vbac. However, since I was also planning on a tubal removal, DH and I decided to stick with the c-section. The c-section went well! However, my tubes were not able to be removed due to the location of my right tube hiding behind my abdomen. Zoe is 7 lbs and 3 oz (38 weeks+ 3 days) and just over 19 inches tall!
The boys were delivered 6/29 at 38 weeks via scheduled c section. Top is Theodore Lane born at 1:07 weighing 6lb 4oz and 19 in long Bottom is Reynold William born at 1:09 weighing 6lb 5oz and 20 in long
I started having lots of cramping early afternoon on Thursday 6/30. Drank lots of water, laid down to rest and woke up to cramping still.
At around 4:15, I went to the bathroom and upon standing up from the toilet, my water broke in 3 gushes. I immediately called my husband and my OB's office once I could stand up and make my way downstairs to my cell phone with a towel wrapped around my legs.
My husband fought rush hour traffic and made it home by 5:20 and we were on our way to the hospital. We got to the ER around 5:45 and went right to a L&D room because triage was full.
My contractions were still pretty mild at this point and upon my first check I was only 1 cm, 70% effaced and -3 station.
My contractions started picking up and were pretty painful (more pressure and cramp like) and in my lower back pretty strong but I wanted to try and go as long as I could.
At my second check, I was only 2 cm, 100% effaced and -1 station. Decided to ask for an epidural at around 9:45 to help relieve my back contractions. I immediately threw up once that whole thing was done. My blood pressure has been good and baby's heart rate is strong.
At 11:17pm and because contractions are a strange pattern, they started giving me a tiny bit of pitocin to see if they can get contractions to increase and get this labor going.
Labored until 5:15am, pushed from 5:15-9:15am. They tried to use a vacuum to get her out but she wasn't having it. Her head ended up being turned and the doctor couldn't get her out.
I was admitted last night for preeclampsia and monitoring. When I had my NST this morning I was regularly contracting and couldn't feel it. They checked me and I was at a four. With the preeclampsia, they took this as go time. With a little pitocin and a seriously not great epidural, they were born six minutes apart shortly after two pm at 35+6. Meet Beck Andrew, 6 lbs 2 oz and Ruby Renee, 4 lbs 9 oz. Both are in the NICU making sure they can eat and keep their body temperatures.
At 1:47 pm, Margaret "Maggie" Noelle made her grand entrance at 39w0d. I went in today for a scheduled C-section due to a breech position. After a little delay, I went in and got an epidural which worked like a charm. No pain and not a lot of pressure but definite tugging. She is currently in the NICU due to inhaling a bunch of fluid on her way out so I haven't been able to hold her yet :-/ Nurse said I can at least go see her later tonight. Hope to get more pictures later.

Team Green!
Water broke with poop chunks at 3:30am (5 centimeters) and he was born at 10:54am
I went through two hours of labor starting at 3-4 minutes apart then 1 minute apart. Got the epidural at maybe 8am (9 centimeters) and pushed for 3 hours. His head was down and sideways and stuck in the pelvic bone. Most of my pushing was spent on that. Pushing the rest of him was "easy" but sooo unbearable because they stopped my epidural right before I started pushing so by he time I got to his shoulders it was horrific. My breathing couldn't catch up with my body instinctively pushing which made it really hard all around. When he finally came out my body was shaking and in shock and I was feeling all the burns from tearing (2nd degree).
He latched on right away and fed himself to sleep. He slept for almost the whole day and I fed again with no issue and he fed himself to sleep again.
I haven't adjusted to the thought of being responsible for a little person
Rey Antonio was born 3:13 am July 1st at 37w5d 7lbs 4 oz 19 in, they decided to bring me in to start inducing me bc preeclampsia on June 29th at 7pm and started giving me that pill that they put next to your cervix. It was giving me really small contractions that got stronger as time went by so I was thinking (hoping) maybe I wouldn't even need pitocin. No such luck, at 8 am on June 30th they started the pitocin and by 12 they broke my water. Contractions started getting pretty bad and the nurse had asked me like 5 times if I wanted the epi yet even though I was dilated around 3-4. So by the 6th time she asked I was just like sure. After that we were just waiting to dilate to 10. By the end of the night I was around 9.5, an hour later they check again expecting me to be at 10 find me at 9! Apparently my cervix had swollen which didn't really surprise me. All that poking around down there, it made sense. My dr comes in and says c section is the way to go. I was pretty scared but overall I knew it was the best. By then it had already been over 12 hours my water had been broken. So they start setting everything up for about 30 minutes and 10 minutes into the surgery I hear his cry and it made me cry right away! After he was out and they were cleaning him up, that's when the c section started getting really uncomfortable but somehow I slept through about 10 mins of it lol. Once they brought baby Rey up to me it's like the pain didn't even bother me. Not that I didn't feel anything, but I just wasn't noticing it. Anyways currently recovering, baby Rey is perfect and so talkative. He looks exactly like his daddy except for the nose (me )
Peter Loren finally made his appearance last night and he is the sweetest little thing I have ever seen in my life. 8lbs3oz and 21 in long, opened his eyes the second he came out and they put him on my chest! He's got quite the set of lungs on him too! It was a very long surprise induction, after my 40 week US showed low amniotic fluid. Started at 11:30am on Thursday with cytotec to try to prep my cervix since I was only dilated to a 1 and barely effaced. My cervix was so far up and behind baby's head that those checks and cytotec insertions were ridiculously painful. My body finally started contracting on its own about 6 or 7 pm I think, don't really remember but it was after the second round of cytotec. Contractions were pretty mild though and didn't do much to dilate. They started pitocin at 2am Friday, and though contractions got a little stronger, I was still only at a 3 by 6am. They kept upping the pit and I just got uncomfortable and frustrated, especially when 5 hours later I was still only at a 3!!! I asked if I could sit on a birthing ball for awhile to try to put some better pressure on my cervix, and lo and behold, my water broke an hour later and things went crazy. Contractions became unbearable (for me at least, you unmedicated ladies amaze me now that I have felt those beastly contractions) and I got the epidural as soon as they could set it up. Contractions finally became regular and stayed nice and strong, and I got some rest now that I was much more comfortable. Then my epi wore off on my left side and the back labor was worse than the earlier contractions and it took awhile to fix the dose and renumb that side. But it did let me feel how much pressure baby was starting to put on the exit, which was encouraging, and sure enough, when they checked me an hour later, the nurse said I was at a 7!! Another hour later and I was fully dilated and effaced and ready to push. Amazingly, I only had to push for about 30 minutes tops and he was here!!!! That was by far my favorite part and the moment I saw the doctor lift him up I was a blubbering mess and it was the most incredible feeling in the world. He is beautiful. Now we're trying to figure everything out, he's trying really hard to get the hang of breastfeeding. He's such a little frog that he kicks and punches out of his swaddle even though he is most content when swaddled, so daddy held him most of the night after I finished trying to feed him so I could catch a few hours of sleep. I don't think either of us has slept more than 8 hours since this long process started!! But he's finally here, and it's amazing. Sorry for the novel, it was such a crazy birth!
Adrienne Quinn was born 6/29 at 3:08 pm. 7 pounds, 3 ounces at 37w3d. Woke up gushing pinkish fluid and nurse told me to go in. After 5 hours and little progress in dilation, I got an epidural. Within 45 minutes, I was fully dilated. I pushed through two contractions and she was out. She's beautiful and fuzzy but I won't post her picture because of internet security.
William Christopher James, born June 27th at 2:10pm. He was 9lbs7.6 and 55.5 cm (the nurses' measuring tape only went to 56cm!)
We had been told on Friday due to some sketchy looking ultrasounds and his expected weight that we were going to be induced on Monday. So Monday morning here we were getting ready to go to the hospital for the induction, when I put my foot up on the seat in my shower to dry my leg and felt a pop as my water broke. Contractions started about 10 mins later. They were expecting us so we went in anyway, and were admitted. My file from my cervical sweep on Thursday said I was already dilated to 4 and 80%, so the nurses didn't check me at all, deciding to wait for the dr. I think they thought I was coming in super early and really wasn't very far along. I laboured in the tub for about 30 mins but kept feeling like I needed to push. So I got out and back into bed, but kept having "pushy" contractions. One of the nurses watched me for a min and said incredulously, "Do you feel like you need to push??" YES! So she checked me and I was at 8cm and 100%, about 2 hours after coming in. I'll never forget her going out into the hall and nervously asking someone to page the dr again. 20 mins later the dr arrived and checked me and I was at 10. 30 mins after that they told me it was time to start pushing. An hour later he was born. I had planned on going med-free until I got to the hospital and was contracting. I asked about pain management and they offered fentanol and the gas, which helped take the edge off. When they said I was at 10 I asked if it was too late for an epidural and they laughed. And then they took the gas away. While not totally med-free (as I used it through contractions before pushing) I pushed a nearly 10lb baby out of my vagina with no epidural, and that makes me feel like a bit of a rockstar.
Elise Belle was born today at 2:34pm at 39w1d. She is 7 pounds 1 oz and 19 inches long.
I was feeling crampy all day yesterday but decided to ignore it even though it was 5 minutes apart. I went to bed and then woke up at 11:50 for no apparent reason. When I stood up my water started gushing. We were admitted to the hospital at 1am and my water was still gushing. It gushed through contractions pretty much the whole time. When I arrived I was 3cm and 95% effaced with contractions 4 minutes apart so no pitocin was needed. They didn't do anymore checks because of the risk of infection. At around 8am I was in active labor. I labored without any pain meds by wandering the halls, holding onto my husband, and later in the tub. I ended up having back labor. My husband and my sisters were amazing coaches. I went into transitional labor and after a very long time I felt like I had to push. They checked me but I had an anterior lip that they couldn't get rid of. I began to lose it when they told me nothing was working because I had been laboring for so long in the transitional stage and I just wanted her to come out. They offered me fentanol so I could relax while I tried different positions to turn her head around so my cervix could fully open. They gave me a small dose. After laboring in 3 more positions they checked me and I was ready. I pushed for an hour and the relief when she finally came out was amazing. She is very chill so far and is breast feeding very well!!! Full head of hair, big cheeks and already has rolls. We are so infatuated with her.
Induction was scheduled for Tuesday June 28th due to the possibility that little girl was small for gestational age and some previous issues with low amniotic fluid. About to leave for hospital at 9 and they called saying they were full and they'd call when there was a room available. Tried to rest and they called at 2 am to come in. I was 1 cm dilated and 40% effaced so they started with the first dose of cytotec at 4 am... Mild cramping/contractions but bearable. At nine the nurse came in and said she couldn't give me the second dose bc my contractions were a minute apart and she couldn't have me go more than that. My doc was due to see a patient there in a few hours so we decided to wait and see what he recommended. At 10 my water broke on its own and contractions started to get pretty intense. I labored unmedicated for a few hours but after finding out I was 100% effaced but only 4 cm I opted for the epidural. My doctor had arrived by this point and said he was expecting for me to dilate a cm an hour and I'd deliver by 8 pm so he left. I rested for about 45 mins when the nurse came in saying I needed to switch positions bc baby's heart rate was decelerating. She responded well with me laying on my side and the nurse checked and I had dilated to 8 cm. She left to page my doc and I had DH buzz her about 10 mins later bc I was starting to feel a ton of pressure and got scared this kid was coming out on her own! She checked me again and I was pretty much fully dilated and my doc was parking so she had me start pushing. My doc walked in and I pushed about 5 more times and boom she was here! We got to do immediate skin to skin and thankfully only need one stitch. She was a total rockstar and we got discharged 24 hours later! She is such a snuggle bug and starting to get the hang of latching.
Grayson Julian was born scheduled repeat csec on July 1st @8:07a weight 7lb 13oz. Even though it was a scheduled planned csec it did not go as planned.... (Birth story sorry its long)
We got checked in at 6:00am for the 7:30 csec, the anesthesiologist came in to talk about the epidural and asked if I had any issues with my previous csec. I told him I did have a issue where I felt I couldnt swallow but that holding the suction straw in my hand controling it made me calm down. He told me that he would make sure it wasnt too high (I wish I hadnt even brought that up cause I believe it is why things turned out the way they did).
They took me back to do the epidural I felt horrible, just nauseas, uncomfortable and nervous. He started the epidural, it was extremely uncomfortable as he was shoving his fingers into my spine to find the right place to do it. He again mentioned making sure it doesnt take to high. I immediately felt my left leg tingling more then the right and suddenly my left leg jerked, he was like thats okay it happens sometimes. He finished up and I was layed back on the operating table to let it kick in. I let him know my right leg was not feeling as numb so they tilted the table right so that the medicine would move around, that worked and i felt it even on both sides. They set up the drapes, my husband still wasnt in yet, I felt very overwhelmed having acid reflex and disoriented and just praying everything to be done fast, my shoulders started spasming painfully from the position I was in, like gas cramps, the doctors poked me to test the epidural and it felt sharp still... They tilted table backwards putting me in a head lower then legs postion again trying to move med down, I was burping and about to cry with discomfort they tilted ne normal after 5 mins and tested again, still sharp pokes. So they decided to do a complete (put me under general) I asked if my husband could be here and they said no not with you under general (i dunno why...) but part of me was relieved that they were knocking me out. They went to tell my husband and put the mask on me gave me a stinging medicine in my iv and I woke up 1hr 30 mins later to find I had a healthy baby boy (which is all that really matters!) I was disappointed my hubby and I didnt get to witness his intro to the world but atleast after Grayson came out they did the initial tests then took baby straight to my husband for a hr of skin to skin while I was being stitched up and tubes tied etc. I also had a bleed during the surgery so its probably better my husband wasnt there.
Since, I have had a awesome recovery csections really arent that bad of a recovery and we got to leave after 48 hrs.
Grayson joins "big brother Logan" (which is the only acceptable way our 4 1/2 year old accepts being addressed now! Lmao). Was worried about how I could love anyone as much as Logan and was honestly worried about bonding with baby, but as cliche as it is, the moment I held him my heart was complete. Like finding something you didnt realize you were missing...
I went in on 7/1 for a check because I hadn't felt baby all morning. Low and behold, I had slightly high BP, slightly low fluids, and since I was 39 weeks they decided to induce. Induction began at 1pm or so - I was 2-3cm. By around 8pm I was up to 9cm and began pushing. Pushed on 12 contractions and she was out. It was the smoothest labor I could possibly ask for besides one bad hour when I wasn't medicated enough (had progressed further than anyone realized because I was moving along so quickly). Got a bit torn up and needed to be sewn up for about an hour afterwards. Baby is doing well! 6lb 12oz, 20 inches. Transition home and breastfeeding have not been the most fun, but we are trying.
(Long birth story!) Quinntin Noble T. finally arrived on 7/4 (his due date) 41 hours after my water broke. I was out to dinner with my husband Saturday night because we wanted a last date night before my due date and my water broke at dinner. I called my midwife to let her know and she told me to stay, eat, get dessert, enjoy myself and come into the hospital once my contractions were 3 min apart. In my birth plan I wanted a med free labor so I wanted to labor at home as long as possible.
Well, contractions never started so they admitted me to the hospital at 5 am Sunday to get started on induction. They did 3 rounds of cytotek (sp?) and still no contractions but I was at 5cm so they decided on pitocin. I wanted to try for med free and did 12 hours of pitocin before I was in so much pain and so much pressure I thought it was time to push! The midwife checked me and I was only at a 6!! 12 hours for 1 cm!! F that I got the epidural and fell asleep immediately!! They cranked the pitocin up as I slept and I woke up 4 hours later with a huge urge to push! I yelled at my husband to call the midwife, she came in and baby was making his way out with each contraction.
I pushed for 40 min before I saw my baby. He came out sunny side up, cord around his neck twice, a smushed and bruised face and a cone head but he's perfect. 21.5 inches long and 7 lbs 1oz. Long and skinny little guy!!
It it was the complete opposite of how I thought my labor would go. I wanted med free, labor at home until time to push, no IV or monitors so I could be mobile etc. but got the complete opposite of that. I truly believe the epi saved my labor by allowing me to sleep so I had energy to push!! Q and I are doing great and headed home tomorrow. Breast feeding was a challenge at first but my nurses are amazing and got us both in the groove of things. My husband and I could not be more in love!
Saturday (July 2nd) I was having contractions on and off all day which was normal so I didn't get my hopes up. Went upstairs with my husband around 11:30 for bed and needless to say I never got to sleep. At midnight I started having regular contractions every two to three mins apart and they were painful so two hours later I called and they told me to head down to labor and delivery.
I got there around 2:30 and was only about 3cm, they sent me out to walk for an hr came back in and was still at 3 but really uncomfortable so they gave me meds and then my contractions stopped so I got started on oxytocin to get them going again. Labored for a few hours without progressing and then they broke my water and I went almost immediately to 5-6 cm and then a little bit later was ready to push. Pushed three times and little Owen was here.
So little Owen Wayne was born at 37w+1 11:45am, 7lbs 5oz, 19 inches.
Little Eloise Elisabeth has finally made her appearance! Sunday my water broke and I headed into the hospital. Started with cytotec and that started my contractions. Begged for an epidural at 6 am, got it placed at 8:30. Lots of visitors kept me from sleeping after being pain free. Started pictocin to help dialate, which let me move a cm an hour. Started trial pushing at 9:30, but she was so far down I had to hold and wait for my Dr. Once the Dr came, I pushed through two contractions and out she came! Not sure what level my tear is, but it is like I was hitting 2nd base with Edward scissor hands. These ice pack pads are the best thing ever for my sore crotch.
8 pounds 2 oz, 19 inches. Born July 4th at 10:26, 40 + 4.
Baby Finn was born this morning via repeat c/s. It was fast and easy and we are doing great! Big brother Murphy has come to visit and was giving him kisses
Baby Ivyaan is here. Went in for an induction but everything progressed naturally. Baby was in a hurry to meet his mom and dad. 2 hours of quick labour, born on 30th June at 37+5, weighing 5lbs 5oz, 49.5 cms our darling is with us.
Camille Elise was born July 5th at 10:33pm at 39 weeks 4 days. Contractions started on Monday morning and progressively worsened until we went to the hospital on Tuesday. Total labor was 19 hours and I pushed for 1 and half hours after my epidural wearing off multiple times. It hurt. A lot. But alas baby Camille is here and we're so in love!
Caden Joseph was born at 39+1 on 7/4/16. Our little firecracker made his debut at 4:31am after 10 1/2 hours of labor including 20 minutes of pushing. 6lbs 11oz, 21 inches long. He is everything that is right about the world
I woke up to pee around 2:30am Sunday morning and noticed when I got up that I was in the middle of a braxton hicks. When I got up later in the morning and started getting myself ready for the day, I realized I was still having them every 20-30 minutes or so...not frequent enough for concern, but frequent enough for me to actually notice them. I didn't think much of it and went to work at noon.
Around 6pm I started feeling those period type cramps everyone on here had been mentioning. I went to the restroom and found that my bloody show had started! I was the only manager on duty & only had an hour left until closing, so I made a quick call to L&D and then finished out my shift at work. After speaking with the OB on call, I decided I'd just head home, take a bath, try to relax, & see if things progressed or eased up. I got home around 8 and felt like I needed to poop so badly. I sat on the toilet for probably a good 45 minutes...nothing. Had my husband come upstairs and run me a nice warm bath. While I was soaking in the tub, the contractions came on fast and they came on strong. I called my husband back upstairs and told him to do whatever he needed to do to get ready, because as soon as I got out of the tub I wanted him to take me into L&D. (Cue slight panic on his part, lol)
We left for the hospital and contractions were 3 minutes apart and a minute long during the half hour car ride there. I bypassed triage and was sent up to a laboring room at 10:15. Got changed into my gown & crawled into bed. The nurse checked me and I was already dilated 4-5cm! I was shocked! They immediately moved me down the hall to a delivery room, got me started on an IV of fluids and drew some bloodwork. I was told once I'd finished the bag of fluids & my bloodwork came back, I'd be able to get my epidural. I had gone through a short puking spell due to the pain/contractions once I was moved to my delivery room. The anesthesiologist came into my room around 11:45 and as she was talking to me I felt the gush of my water breaking. I got my epidural and was rechecked around 12:30am. I had already progressed to 7-8cm! I got my epidural JUST in time. Huge S/O to all you mamas who have done it without any pain meds...you are all superheroes.
I labored until around 2:30am, was checked again and told that I only had a rim left & it would be time to push soon. Around 3am they lost the baby's heart rate on the monitor and had trouble finding it again. I tried my best to stay calm but was freaking out inside my head until I heard that little hearbeat again. I ended up having to lay on my right side & they gave me oxygen to help the baby. He responded well & once he was stabilized, they gave me a little pitocin to speed things up and allow me to start pushing as soon as possible. By 4:10 I started feeling the pressure to push. I pushed for 20 minutes and at 4:31am on the 4th of July I met my perfect little boy. The doctor said I looked like I was going to tear at the very end so I ended up with an episiotomy and some stitches. My husband said seeing that was the worst part.
All in all I was surprised & I feel so lucky that as a FTM my labor & delivery went as quickly and smoothly as it did. Every time I look at my son my heart is so full. He is by far the best and coolest thing I have done with my life.
Baby girl joined us at exactly 8pm July 6th at 40+2, after about 16 hours of labor including 20 minutes of pushing. She's 9lb 8oz and 22" long. She doesn't have an official name yet but I'll edit tomorrow when we do.
Baby Nathalie Lynn born July 7th at 10:03am. 8lbs 4oz and 19 1/4 inches long. 40 weeks + 2 days. I'll post birthday story later when my body doesn't feel like it's been through war lol
Birth Story On Wednesday July 6th at 6:30pm I got up to go to the washroom and on my way back from the washroom I had some fluid leakage (what felt like way more than discharge) went back to the washroom and sat down on the toilet to hear trickling. Called L&D and was told to come in asap as I was positive for group B. Got to L & D and the had me lay down to get a swab to ensure it was amniotic fluid. The first two swabs they hadn't been able to see anything so she gave me a pad and told me to get up and walk around to see if anymore would leak out. The second I stood up the rest of my water gushed out on the floor lol. The nurse was able to get some sample from my pad and confirm it was indeed amniotic fluid. I wasn't dilated at all so they decided to give me Cervadil to get things going and told me it could be a few hours at least. About 15 minutes after placing the cervadil they moved me to my private room and as I walked in I literally vomited across the room 'Exorcist' style lol. I hadn't been having any contractions and instantly went to having contractions 2-3 minutes apart. They were extremely painful and I asked the nurse for the epidural. She told me I couldn't have it unless I was 3cm dilated at least and said it was very unlikely that I was that far dilated given I was 0cm dilated 20 minutes ago. So I told her to check and to everyone's surprise I was 3cm dilated. She called for the anesthesiologist only to find out he was in the OR and unavailable until after. I was given a shot of morphine which did nothing lol. After 4.5 hours of waiting the anesthesiologist arrives and administers the Epidural. He proceeds to tell me my spine isn't straight and giving epidurals on a curved spine may result in one side not being as numb. Wonderful! My left side went numb almost instantly and my right side felt quite numb but not completely as I could still feel some contracting on the right side only. They told me they would keep checking in on me throughout the next few hours (it was about 1am). I tried to get some rest but was unable to sleep due to how scared/excited I was to go through labour lol. At 6 am the nurse came in and told me I was 7cm dilated. At this point my contractions felt super strong and i was feeling like the epidural wasn't doing much anymore. She told me I could start pushing now or continue to labour down a few more hours and let my cervix dilated more. I just wanted to push and hope it would take my mind off the pain. So i began pushing at 7cm. After 3.5 hours of pushing the doctor came in and told me they don't like pushing to continue longer than 4 hours and as we were closely approaching that he suggested using the vaccum to assist her out. I was utterly exhausted at this point from pushing and passing out in between contractions that I told him whatever he has to do to help me out. Mid contraction I hear and feel 3 snips down below now I know the epidural was wearing off. It was excruciating lol. He placed the vacuum and after 4 contractions and more passing out she was here! Her head had turned from head down to sideways the doctor said so a vacuum was necessary to help her out. Then the fun part. While still feeling everything down there he had to stitch the 3 episiotomy sites. I felt everything every stitch everytime he pulled the suture through the skin it was intense. After that I only remember waking up to her on my chest and the nurse explaining to me the episiotomy sites. I also ended up with severe hemorrhoids so sitting with those and the sutures is extremely uncomfortable. However it's all worth it now that she's here
Olivia was born July 6 at 11:22 pm after nearly 12 hours in labor and only 5 pushes! She was 4 lbs 15 oz and 17.25 inches.
We started pitocin at 12 and were 4 cm, 70% effaced. They kept increasing my pitocin and I was having more contractions but they weren't strong enough to really make much of a difference. So around 6 they broke my water and contractions were so much worse after that. I handled them pretty well for 45 mins but then realized I was getting really tired and since we didn't know how much longer it would be I decided to get an epidural. After that things picked up really fast. My contractions did slow down a little bit so they increased my pitocin a tiny bit. I was hooked up to continuous monitoring and her heartbeat started dipping when I would have a contraction so the nurse came in and checked me at around 930. I was 8 cm. My doc said that we should put some more fluids in because maybe the cord was getting squished. When the nurse came back in I told her there was tons of pressure and I felt like i was there. This was only 7 mins after she checked me. But she checked me again and I was at 10 so we did a test push and she moved even farther down and the nurse said she could see her head. They called my doctor and it took her almost 30 mins to get there. Then pushed for 5 contractions and she was here! The cord was wrapped around her neck but she was crying and looking good so we got to do skin to skin and delayed cord clamping. We did her first feeding and she did really well. She did have to go to the NICU because she was having trouble regulating her body temp. She might be there a couple of days but she's doing well in there. Although daddy and I get to go home today Olivia will be staying behind with both of us coming for feedings during the day and letting the nurses handle her nighttime feedings. She should be able to join us at home in a couple of days though.
We came into the hospital yesterday morning after waking up at 4:00am with contractions fewer than 5min apart and losing my mucus plug. They checked me out and I had not progressed any more than the 1.5cm from my weekly appt the day before. Disappointed, but not surprised, I went home and continued to have mild-moderate contractions throughout the day.
At 10pm I took Tylenol PM to get some sleep figuring I'd be woken up with labor sometime in the night. At 2:45am, exactly that happened as I was woken by a killer contraction. I got up to go pee and as I pulled my pajamas down, my water broke with a small gush. Nothing super dramatic but still very obvious.
I called my mother to come stay at the house with DS and monitored contractions for about an hour before calling. They were consistently less than five min apart and much, much stronger than the previous day. I called and was told to head in. When I arrived they bypassed triage after hearing my story and seeing me contract and got me hooked up right away. I was only at 3cm but my contractions were doing fast and heavy, 2-3min apart and an 7-8 on the pain scale.
I opted to labor for awhile and around 6:30 was in the tub for only about 5 min before the "last chance for an epidural for the next hour" call was made and I very smartly took them up on it. The contractions quickly had turned to an 8-9 on the pain scale and there wasn't a lot of time in between. The epi was placed at 7ish and after about 15 min I was only feeling the pressure from the contractions. Still unpleasant but significantly improved.
A quick 45 min later the doctor (Dr. Nice!) came to check me out and said I was ready to push. I got in a good 4-5 pushes and my not so little one finally arrived at 41 weeks, after being threatened with an induction scheduled for Monday morning!
Evelyn was born 8lb13oz and 20inch long. My little chubber is doing wonderfully and we couldn't be prouder!
Elyse Vivian, born on July 5 at 11:25pm. I went in for a check up at 39w+6. 1 was having contractions all throughout the night and day(nothing totally regular) but I had been dilated to a 3 since last week. I ended up having high BP so they decided to induce. My OB was fine with me getting my epi pretty much immediately which I was not going to argue with . She broke my water at 8pm (4 cm) and from that point on things moved really quick. I could barely feel my contractions so when they told me I went from a 6 to 9.5, within an hour, I was totally surprised. They told me I'd feel pressure in my vagina but I felt all the pressure/pain in my lower abdomen. I thought my epi was wearing off but it was actually my uterus pushing Elyse out it just hurt in a different place than I expected. They checked me and told me she was literally right there. I pushed twice for 10 seconds and out she came. My DS's birth was so hard, my epi only worked on my right side, his heart kept dropping and skyrocketing and he came out not breathing, needing to be resuscitated for over 5 minutes. It was a nightmare but, Elyse's was a dream. I didn't get to even see my son for 2.5hours... but Elyse was placed right on chest and we got all the time we wanted. It was SO beautiful! I couldn't have asked for anything more. And she is such an amazing, sweet, beautiful little girl. Between my two sweet babies, I couldn't ask for anything. We brought her home yesterday and DS has really taken to her. He's only 19 months, but is so caring. Every time she lets out a peep he has to make sure she is ok. and he loves to rock her in her rock n play (which he did without any prompting from us) it is SO adorable!!! I am so full of love for my whole family and feel as though we are finally complete.
Big TW. My birth story is very traumatic and extremely frightening. It is NOT normal and very rare. It was a true emergency and my Ob literally saved my life.
********* I was dx with Pre-E about a month again fyi. It all started Friday 7/1. I went to my MFM as normally scheduled. I had a BPP, and little boy didnt do so well. He got a 6/8. So they did a NST there (never had my MFM do one). I was contracting, but not often but I had a few decels too. They send my over to L/D for additional monitoring. He did ok there, but it was decided that I should return back on Sunday for more monitoring. His movement has changed a lot in the last two weeks, and I was to be extra careful in paying attention to it. Saturday was a good day, and I felt great. I woke up Sunday feeling well too. I got to L/D and they hooked my up. My B/P was crazy high through (190/90), followed by a bunch of weird crazy readings (100/60 then 140/80.......). I then was hooked up to the monitor while waiting for a US. His HR dropped a few times and I was contracting there. Again, nothing crazy but still worrisome. I then got the BPP, and he barely passed (8/8), but it took the full 30 minutes to meet all criteria. Back to L/D, and on the monitor. He started to look 'flat', with more decels. The nurse kept coming in and moving me and what not. She paged the CNM, who came in and decided that I was to be admitted (again). This is my 3rd admission this pregnancy. She said that I will not be going home pregnant, but is not sure when they will do the C/S. She said that she is paging the OB. I am then wheeled down to my L/D room and the Rn is doing the database. With in minutes she gets a call, the Ob is on her way and they are doing the C/S as soon as she gets there.
Ob get there, her name is Dr. S. Dr S walks in and says "I dont know what is going on, but there is something that makes me uneasy". She says she rather do the C/S while everything is 'calm' so they can have a good outcome. Then a bunch of nurses rush in and start prepping me. Like labs and Iv and what not. We called my family, and I talked to my girls on the phone, then we were willed back.
The anesthesia team was wonderful. I never met this Md, but I know the PAA very well. The MD has some issues placing my spinal, and had to do it twice. It started working and they laid me down. They draped me and then brought DH back.
All is 'well' at this point. Dr S says she is still concerned and is calling this an urgent surgery. A few minutes later, the CNM helping her goes 'Oh my God". It gets dead silent in there. The Ob goes "she has a uterine window. The amniotic sack is sealing it". She started ordering blood products and platelets and wants a full NICU team in there. I 'knew' what a uterine window was, but I needed to make sure. She said 'you uterus is completely open." A bunch more people come in the room, several more are standing over me. DH is pale and looks like he is about to pass out. Ob says 'I need it quiet". She tells the staff that once the water was broken be prepared for my to start bleeding out. She breaks it and all you hear/smell is the BOVI cauterizing my ute to stop bleeding. She then says "we have a nuchal cord, make that times two". They get Alex out and start working on me. Alex is crying and I start. Dr. S says "I am glad you want a tubal, because you can never have kids again'. She then started talking about my bladder and scare tissue. I had several adhesions in my lower abdomen/pelvis and my ute and bladder are attached. She fixes that and says my bowel has slipped over and around my ute. she doesnt want to mess with it for fear of more scar tissue. So she has anesthesia adjust the table and lower my head. They literally had my head down for 15 plus minutes to have gravity do most of the surgery. Dr S then told the staff to change my surgery from urgent to true emergency.
They finished the surgery and I got wheeled into Recovery. They started Magnesium there.
Dr S says that she was limited in sowing my ute up because of the window. She was not happy and said I will need a hysterectomy sooner than later. She told DH that uterine windows are super rare and most dont have a good outcome. Basically, both Alex and I should have died. She thinks the nuchal cord caused the decels, most likely saved both our lives.
The pain was horrible, due to the scar tissue and what not.
Two days after delivery, I started having a headache. After DC, I got worst. Wednesday, I ended up in the ER for a spinal headache and needed a blood patch. That made a difference, and I felt great with in minutes.
Now on to little man. Alexander Gabriel is a late Preemie. 6 pounds 1 oz, 18.5 inches long. 7/3 @ 1508 He had some issues transitioning but is well now. He nurses great, but it still losing weight (9.5 %) as of today. I have to give him formula every other feeding. He is very active and alert, just little.
My OB, LC and several nurses have all expressed concerned regarding my delivery. They have referred my to therapy in fear of both PPD and PTSD. They have done the same for DH.
We are home, trying to grow, bond and heal both physically and mentally. I am literally glad to be here hurting. I just hope my saga is over now.
Baby Oliver James was born 7/7/16 at 3:22pm via emergency CSection. He's a tiny cutie at only 6,3lbs and 19,5inches. (I was 37weeks+1)
After Being admitted for low fluid on Wednesday, the monitoring showed that I was In labor (like the past 2 weeks!) so my doctor decided to wait and see if things were to progress on their own. I labor med free walking, bouncing, in the tub, etc until 3 am when the contractions stopped completely. The pitocin was then started. I continued to labor naturally until around lunch the next day when the doctor realized the labor stalled at 4cm. She decided to break my water to get things moving. From there I managed to stay in the bath for a while but it became too painful around 5-6cm. I received the epidural and baby started showing some deceleration on the monitor. Quickly he started having bigger ones and it became obvious that he was not gonna tolerate active labor well. The doctor tried to run a catheter in-utero to replenish the fluids but that didn't help and the baby's heart dropped into the 50's. Things started moving really quickly from that point. 8 persons were in the room preping me, keeping an eye on the baby, giving us instructions and within 15 minutes of the deceleration, I was in the OR, belly open and baby out crying! He came out screaming with a 8 apgar test at 1 minute and 9 at 5 minutes. We've been in love ever since!! He's the cuddliest sweetest baby ever. He loves skin to skin and he's a pretty good latcher despite being only 37weeks1 day
Baby Björn was born 7/7 at 9:22pm. 8lbs 4oz, 20in long, born via unmedicated birth at the birthing center after about 12 total hours of labor with 5 hours active laboring and no stitches. It was everything we were hoping for and more. Post partum has been smooth and Björn is nursing non-stop like a champ!
I finally get to join this group!!! Little Landon made his appearance Friday July 8th at 3:52am. My water broke around 1:30pm on Thursday and my contractions started around 3:30. I ended up pushing for about 3 hours and I still ended up needing suction to help get him out! He weighed 8lbs 11oz and is 21 inches long. We're exhausted but so in love!!!
Liliana Joy born 7/11 at 8:41 pm 7lbs 9oz and 21.5 inches long
Birth story: induction got started around 2pm and my body responded really well since I came in while in pre labor it appeared. I don't have a ton of details on the rest but here is what I know by 8 10ish pm I was 9 cm and so close to be able to push. Felt great from no pain due to epi which really helped me be calm and relaxed. All of the sudden about 5-6 nurses came rushing in and told me her heart and decelerated to 50 and had been there for several minutes. They tried several techniques including flipping me several times and had me on an oxygen mask. I started to panic some as the whole mood in the room turned very serious. The dr came in and told me they needed to get the baby out and I was going to for a very fast c section.
They did get her heart rate stabilized once we got to the OR which was very scary as people were rushing around me and prepping me and David wasn't allowed in and then I was told they still needed to get her out fast as a precaution and I was going to be put under general anesthesia. I cried definitely scared if she would be okay and scared and sad that I would miss her birth.
Woke up and they moved me down to recovery and was able to find out she was just fine they believe she was at an awkward angle and cut off her cord access. She was born at 8:41pm is 7lbs 9 oz and is 21 and a half inches long.
We are all happy and safe and completely exhausted
Lukas Caden was born July 12th at exactly 930 Am. He was 7lb 5oz and 20 inches long. I started having contractions at 10ish last night and they escalated quickly. By 12 they were 8 mins apart and by 2;00 they were five. I should have come in sooner but for some reason I kept thinking "not yet". So hubby went to work at 3 and that's when I called my dr. He told me to Come in. My husband has just made it to work and had to turn around and come home. Then We had to take my other kiddos to my MIL's house which is about 20 mins in the opposite direction of the hospital. By the time I arrived the pain was a lot more intense and contractions 4 mins apart. A quick check revealed that I was already 7 cm dilated. We moved quickly to a room where I had progressed to 8. The doctor warned me that we may have missed our window for an epidural and I was pretty nervous. Thankfully I stalled ans thanks to the great nurse who expedited all she could, we got the epidural in place and then they broke my water. It wasn't long before it was time to push. The nurse wanted to do a practice before we called the dr, but half way through my practice push they told me to stop bc he moved so far. Dr came in and after 2.5 pushes and about 20 minutes, he was out. It was amazing and fast! I needed one stitch and enjoyed an hour of skin to skin. I was 37 weeks and 2 days

I haven't adjusted to the thought of being responsible for a little person
they decided to bring me in to start inducing me bc preeclampsia on June 29th at 7pm and started giving me that pill that they put next to your cervix.
Married May 16th 2015
July BMB June Siggy
She is such a snuggle bug and starting to get the hang of latching.

(On mobile, so I can't post a picture.)
8 pounds 2 oz, 19 inches. Born July 4th at 10:26, 40 + 4.

Birth Story
On Wednesday July 6th at 6:30pm I got up to go to the washroom and on my way back from the washroom I had some fluid leakage (what felt like way more than discharge) went back to the washroom and sat down on the toilet to hear trickling.
*********
I was dx with Pre-E about a month again fyi.
I will try to add pictures to this soon.
Morgan Alastair was born at 1400 hours sharp on July 5th, weighing in at 9 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 23 3/4 inches long.
Very proud big brother and big sisters welcomed Morgan home.
Congratulations to you who have had your little darlings and I am excited to see the rest who are on their way.
I was 37 weeks and 2 days
