Re: PGAL Check-in 6/27

  • Weeks: 31w1d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Midwife appointment next week-- she'll check my iron levels again to see if things are improving.  I also need to complete my pre-admit paperwork for the hospital and mail it in.  Nothing too exciting happening here.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Positive vibes to all.  Our whole house is sick and DD was up most of the night with nightmares/coughing/whining.  I got no sleep.  Totally exhausted today!

Questions?  Anyone having menstrual-like cramps here and there?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby?  We're planning to create an "on-call" schedule for our friends who are willing to care for DD, since we have no family nearby.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Next appointment 6/30!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I am still feeling great...lots of movement and not a lot of symptoms which is great.

I am still waiting for the heat and humidity and then that's when I imagine things will get difficult.

    Questions?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby? Yikes, I think my neighbors.  We are very lucky to have wonderful neighbors that would come in the middle of the night.

  • Weeks: 35 weeks today!

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Dr. Appt on Friday, nothing really happens at them lol but I still get excited to go.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Feeling really anxious. Dr. Told me that if you've had your first early typically the second will be early too. But, they've had me on progesterone shots from the cervix and dilation issue at 29 weeks so I am wondering if it will push me past the gestation DD was when she was born. If I had him earlier than her than I would have him before 7/10. I just hate the unknown. This is the hardest part of pregnancy for me. I get so anxious and stressed anticipating the arrival.

    Questions? Anyone else feeling anxious?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby? I have a 2 yr old little girl. She will most likely be with my in-laws while I'm in labor.
  • @jacmkelley - you are getting so close to full-term!  Hurray!

  • Weeks: 35 weeks!

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Midwife appointment from last Tuesday was cancelled because she had a birth to attend...need to reschedule quick!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Getting terrified of how close I'm getting... I feel like at this point anytime can be Go Time.

Questions? Anybody seen @1faceinacrowd recently?! How is she?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby? No other children, but our three dogs... we're having a home birth, and we know they won't be in the room, but haven't thought much more than that...
  • @Fremdschamen I'm having the cramping feeling, too. I was asking my MIL about it yesterday. Since DS was breech with his feet up,  I haven't experienced a lot of this stuff until now. Who knew the baby messed with your hip bones?! Totally new to me!  :)

    Weeks:

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
Appointment on 6/30 to follow up on my headaches. Nothing exciting.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
Braxton Hicks have ramped up over the last few days. It's a nice excuse to sit down and rest.

    Questions?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby?
This is one of the perks about getting to schedule the delivery! One of my parents will keep him during the delivery and then DH and the grandparents will keep him occupied during the day. Poor DH will be on dog and kid duty at night.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Twice weekly appointments from now on to check on baby due to my gd. He's measuring closer to on target now, so they think he just had a growth spurt before.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: This app is constantly deleting what I wrote. So my old rant I typed up has been replaced with my annoyance with this app lol :(

    Questions?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby? No other children or pets at this time, so one less thing to figure out!

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):  Ready for our scan next week.  Just have to get through this week of work and the holiday weekend.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  I'm just in a grumpy mood.  My hips hurt and I'm having really bad RLP.  DH wants to go away July 10th weekend but that means a set back in terms of getting ready for baby.  I know he will say "well what do you want to get done" and I feel like I am not even organized to have a list but at the same time I feel like my house is a mess.

Questions?    Anyone care to share any good snacks they are having these days?  I just want to much but nothing sounds good.

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby? Hopefully my parents will come up for the birth but if not, the neighbors can do the dog.  No clue about older kids.

  • What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):  Next appointment tomorrow to see where LO falls in weight category

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  GD diet seems to be working ok except for the morning, so now I am going on glyburide (sp?)  Hope this works and no insulin for me!

Questions?  Everyone keeps asking me if I am excited.... um, yes and no?  I am apprehensive too!!! LOL

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby?  Just a hubby here, does he count?

  • Are any of you on weekly Progesteorne shots? If so, are you experiencing any Braxton Hicks? I have been on the shots once a week for the past 4 weeks and I've completely stopped getting them. All I have is cramping and backaches. Which I know can contribute to changes in your dilation etc as well. But I haven't had any BH, it's weirding me out.
  • I had some cramping, a backache and timeable contractions (not BH) on Saturday night.  I actually called my midwife about them, but they suggested a bunch of water and rest and the contractions subsided.

  • @Fremdschamen with DD I had them all the time and they were miserable. I had a few small ones around week 27&29 but then had the cervix issue and they put me on Procardia and the shots. I stopped taking Procardia and had my last shot last Friday. I just find it strange I haven't had any at all. I guess I'll ask about it this week at my checkup. I feel like I'm behind lol
  • What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): 35 weeks today! 36 week scan next week and cervical check.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Baby has completely dropped yet he's long enough where his butt is still hitting the right side of my ribs.
    Questions?
GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby? Cats are good on their own. My ex-husband is going to take my son once I go into labor and then bring him to the hospital once he's born.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Had the MRI today (results will be given on Wednesday), Cardio appt. for me on Friday, OB appointment next Tuesday. The twins' 1st birthday is tomorrow so I may not be on much the rest of the week.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Positive vibes to all! I have never had a MRI before so that was an interesting experience. Since it was to look at the baby I was sent to the peds imaging so I got to look at fun things around the room! I think I've been having contractions, I don't feel them but sometimes I notice my abdomen tensing up. Also I've had an increase in cervical pain along with the cramping so I might call the OB tomorrow. I feel very, I honestly don't even know the word for it, about the twins' birthday. I'm anticipating a crappy week so If I'm not on much that's why. We are going to see them tomorrow at the cemetery (I bought them little "happy birthday" balloons for their vases) and release floating lanterns at night.

    Questions?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby? Not needed.

@Fremdschamen I have been having the menstrual like cramps for a couple weeks now, but no change in cervix. Definitely bring it up to your OB so they can monitor it though.
Will be thinking of you this week!!!! Sending hugs and positive vibes.
  • @Fremdschamen I've been having them a lot lately. Since I still don't know what BH feels like I've been assuming that's what it was. But I guess it's not?

I've also been wondering where @1faceinacrowd is. Hope she's just busy and nothing is wrong!

@lgem4 I agree, we'll all be thinking about you!

    Weeks: 33

What's next? Doctor appointment on Friday. It's just a normal checkup. I also set up a cardiologist appointment, which is on July 12. I wish I didn't have to wait so long for that one, but that's the soonest appointment they had.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I just got back from my second baby shower, which was this weekend. I'm beyond blown away at the things people got us. DH and I both have huge families so we knew there would be a good turnout, but we didn't expect the amount people got us. We received almost all the things we need for LO. There are some things left, but we can afford to get it ourselves so we are beyond thankful, especially with our current financial situation.
On another note, the anniversary of my miscarriage is coming up (July 4) and it's been causing anxiety. I was really sad when I passed the date in which I got my positive pregnancy test last year, but I know this one will be much harder. Also, I'm getting increased anxiety about the uncertainty of when this baby will come as well as the fact that I'm actually about to me a mom. I think it's just now getting super real for me.

Questions: Can you tell when the baby has dropped? In the past couple days a lot of the chest pressure has suddenly been relieved and I'm now experiencing some intense lower abdomen pressure, as well as tons of pressure on my bladder, intestines and cervix. I guess that could be normal for the third trimester or LO has just changed positions or something, but just wondering if that could indicate she has dropped.

GTKY: We have two cats and a dog. I honestly haven't thought that far ahead. I'm assuming DH will take care of them, but that would require him doing a 40 minute drive there and back from the hospital twice a day. I'm considering asking a friend to do it.
  • @lgem4 I'll be thinking about you, sending lots of hugs your way!

  • Weeks: 35

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):  I feel like I live at the doctor's office lately! 2x weekly nonstress tests + ultrasound to check on the placenta and fluid levels. I also have weekly OB appointments on top of that. My OB. Is unavailable for the next 2 weeks so I get to see 2 others I don't know, which makes me nervous. And I still need to schedule a follow up growth ultrasound. This kid has enough of a portfolio to be a supermodel at this point!

Rave: just had my family/hometown baby shower and it was delightful!  It felt so nice to be surrounded by love and support. We painted onesies and they indulged my origami mobile project. I feel very blessed to have extremely kind crafty froends. And my Mom made the baby a really adorable quilt.

Rant: ugh, Braxton hux are getting very predictable (3 or 4 in the afternoon, most days, when I walk) and more intense. And oh my poor hips are getting so sore.

    Questions?

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby?

We have two regular cat sitters who are vet techs from our veterinarian's office. We are going to talk to them about being available to give our elderly cat his pain medicine. Otherwise. Cats are fairly self sustaining.
  • @lgem4 Hugs! We'll all be thinking about you a lot this week. You've got this mama! Good luck!
  • @lgem4 Good luck with everything. I will be thinking about you. You are so strong!
  • Do we have a list of moms that regularly check in here?

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
OB appointment on Thursday were I'll meet my new regular OB. Then afterwards going to a local group to sign up for a free postpartum doula visit.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
My birth doula is going to be out of town July 21-Aug 1 and I'm due August 7. I may need to use her backup doula if I go early or just switch to the other person now. Luckily the other doula has a good reputation but this was one of the few areas I had on lockdown (unlike day care, pediatrician, etc.) and was feeling really good about!

GTKY: If you have pets or other children, who is taking care of them when you have your baby?
We have two cats and a special needs dog. Hopefully my mom will be in town to assist while we are staying at the hospital. During the labor we're hoping to have a friend who can come feed the dog and check in on him. We are going to leave lots of dry food and water out for the cats. DH is in charge of making sure we have someone on call for the pets.

  • I was wondering the same thing, @jacmkelley. Truly hope she's alright..
Same. She's probably busy, I think she's a nurse at a hospital? Maybe I'm off, but i think she is and at one point she said she had worked like 11 or 12 days straight. I want to say she had some vacation time coming up. So maybe this her vacation time and she's just taking a break.
  • @jacmkelley her labor buddy is @Curls919, maybe she'd know? I don't know if everyone talks to their labor buddy as much as I do, we're both FTMs and happen to have a lot in common.
  • I can message her.  We haven't spoken in a week or so but she's been posting on FB.  I'll reach out to her!

glad to here you are okay! Good luck with the foot and puppy.

  • @1faceinacrowd - Hope it heals well!

  • @1faceinacrowd glad to hear you're alright, aside from your foot!! I've had to wear one of those boots before. They're miserably itchy if you don't wear socks, but if you do, you sweat so much it's just as miserable. I hope you heal quickly, and before you've got a new baby to take care of!
  • @1faceinacrowd Glad baby is still fine, but sorry about the foot!  When do you get to take the boot off?

  • Good to hear from you @1faceinacrowd ! I hope your foot heals soon! I can barely stand sandals at this point, so a boot must be torture!

  • @lgem4 Sorry to hear about baby's tongue-- it sounds like it is a pretty manageable condition, though.  FX it is on the mild end of the spectrum!

Our DD had a non-life-threatening heart condition that surfaced when she was 10 weeks old-- it is relatively uncommon (our DD was our family doctor's only patient ever with that condition).  We had to medicate her 3-4 times a day for over a year.  Thankfully she outgrew it at 15 months, but it can reoccur in puberty.  I spent some time struggling with the "why" of it all too.  When it was happening, it occupied a lot of our life, but now that that phase of our lives has passed, I barely remember it at all.  Not sure if this is helpful, but just wanted to share that I can relate a bit with the frustration of random chance.

  • @lgem4 I'm glad to see you're back and that the day went smoothly. It's good to hear there's nothing too serious going on with your LO, but I totally get the concern and stress anyway. Any issue is worrisome, and not what you want to hear! You're husband's feelings sound totally justifiable, hopefully this issue will be quickly and easily resolved!
