  • @diagonalley - So glad to hear everything came back well with your tests as well!! I agree in thinking stress had a lot to do with it. When my doc asked me how I'd been feeling, I could honestly say that I've been feeling better in the heart department. If it happens anymore, it's minimal and quick.

@AnnaS930 - Yikes. I hope her friend's twins are doing well (as well as the mom). As much as I'm ready to be done, it's never lost on me that I've been able to carry as long as I have. I'd rather have healthy babies then my own comfort. I hope she does realize how lucky she is.
    Yay about the fridge though!

@toimadness1 that is some bullshit. If I'm not at least taken to the exam room within an hour of my appointment time, I leave.

Its so disrespectful of your time to expect you to just hang out all day because they cannot handle the responsibility of managing appointments.

I try to give OBs some leeway in light of the devastating news that they sometimes have to impart on their patients.

Agreed. Also, my OB's office's schedule gets thrown off at least half the day if they have to go to a couple deliveries in the morning. The OB, midwife and NP all assist in births so all the schedules go nuts sometimes.

  • @ajn092 I am very interested in the Dash buttons! I think they cost $4.99 and you get a $4.99 credit when you buy one of them! We were going to test it out and get a Tide one, but we really don't go through detergent enough (yet!). We are planning on getting it once baby is here for diapers. Let us know how it is if you end up getting it!
  • @PSUBecky23 I agree but my dr also had her two PAs in office today and I ended up seeing one of the anyways. I saw the doctor and the PAs all walking around so I know they were all there today. I ended up being there for more than 2 hours. I'm so thankful I at least didn't have my 16 month old with me because there is no way he would have made it through that wait. And I ended up seeing the PA for a grand total of 4 minutes, and the nurse for maybe 5 mins. Usually my doctor is great and I'm in and out in less than an hour. I don't know what the hell was going on today.

    Well that's crappy.

Will do! It should be here on Thursday so I'm sure I'll know within a week or 2

One of my hesitations is that I prefer to buy house brands. The Up & Up brand of laundry detergent and water, the Kirkland paper towels, etc. but this could be worth paying more for convenience. At least temporarily.

They (the receptionists) should definitely keep you posted if it's going to be a long wait. There have been 5 occasions where my OB was in L&D and therefor I had to reschedule. It's a pain thought because it's usually 30-45m that they wait to make the decision that he's not coming back.

Whoops, meant to quote @toimadness1 as well
  • Ladies, I just had a frozen strawberry lemonade from Sonic, and it is everything I have been searching for this whole pregnancy. I really can not sufficiently describe my intense euphoria right now.

You know you are in 3rd tri when these are the things that bring pure joy and determine your mood for the rest of the day...
Oh man I almost got that when I stopped there for lunch today! Definitely going to try it now!
  • @UnwritteN12 - she had to deliver about an hour away (they have a NICU/higher grade NICU than others in the state... welcome to Maine). Both boys had been doing well and she was hoping to transfer to her local hospital but on of the little guy's heart rates decreased today, so they are now staying at the larger hospital indefinitely. Otherwise, things have been going well.  The mom is doing ok - feeling a little pressured/disrespected by the Lactation Consultant because she is considering stopping pumping and switching to formula. I love Lactation Consultants but I do believe that they have a tendency to put the importance of BFing above the importance of a new mother's mental health, especially given her current stress level and circumstances.  But overall, things seem to be OK - thank you for asking!

My sister carried her twins to 37 weeks and delivered by scheduled C-section. Babies were on the smaller side (one about 4lbs, the other close to 5lbs), but were able to be discharged within 72 hours from birth without any interventions other than the use of the isolette for temperature control. It was purely amazing.  She was on "house arrest" or modified bed rest for the final month of the pregnancy.  I think of her strength often when I get uncomfortable and how she just wanted to stay pregnant for as long as possible.

  • I'm having a crummy pity preggo party today! The wait was too long at my dr's office and it set the tone for the day. I've been noticing I'm a little short with my two older ones lately, so I tried to be normal mom today... Well that worked until my 2yo decided to go knock down, drag out dramatic after her bath, exorcist style. Back to the mom guilt, and I'm going to eat my feelings with cookies and the bachelorette because.i.can.

@AnnaS930 that's really good perspective. I always get so miserable at the end (don't we all) but it's nice to be able to GET to the end.

But this is their business. Patients receive bad news and go into labor all the time, it should be expected an planned for. Schedule some leeway to accommodate that.

  • My random today- my one other full-time co-worker, whom I love and get along with so well, was let go today :( We had a feeling it was coming- she had been disagreeing with my boss for a while about her salary and hours. I'm just anxious because it means I've lost my comrade. She and I are usually there together, we cover for each other, and support each other. My boss even told me she was letting her go this morning while my co-worker did a school tour of the museum, so she gave me the heads up but didn't even mention to my co-worker that they would be meeting this afternoon. As soon as I was able to I gave my co-worker a heads up so she wasn't totally blind-sided. I just feel for her- she's struggling to survive, much like I am. The only reassurance was that my boss mentioned my salary will go up substantially this year (again, with her track record I'm not holding my breath), and my boss's husband met with me shortly after they let my co-worker go to reassure me and answer any questions I had/address any concerns. Still, just a bummer.

The upside- DH is pulling into the driveway right now with my Buffalo Bleu crispy chicken sandwich, fries and junior milkshake. What a keeper :)

I feel the appliance pain in a slightly different way- my stupid car (which I guess you could consider a major appliance... right??) died a couple of weeks ago. Luckily my mom gave us her 2008 Prius, so I'm not totally screwed- but we have to sell my car to get it off my landlord's property. My cousin may be able to sell it, but he thinks it needs an alternator, and DH is all twisted about putting a single cent more into it.

  • SON OF A B**CH!  (Warning, long ranty post ahead. I'm freaking out).

We moved into this house in March. It was completely empty and had been for months, but was clean and it's not an old house. It was inspected and we had pest people come out. All good.

Our house borders a property that someone has let overgrow. There's honeysuckle and trees and bramble. It's pretty but it's so overgrown that it's actually growing through and pushing down our fence! It's also causing other issues... with bugs in particular.

When it started getting warm we noticed spiders. I'm not squeamish about spiders, especially house spiders. I don't like them in my space but they don't give me anxiety. We've been catching them and taking them outside. Especially because we haven't been seeing any OTHER bugs. Zero. So yay, spiders are eating the other bugs! But They've been congregating in our upstairs guest bathtub, because they get in and can't get back out. One day there were 4 of them. Big ones. That's when it started bothering me. We started seeing them so frequently that we finally got paranoid. We have a baby on the way, we don't want spiders everywhere, even harmless ones.  I don't mind one or two every now and then but I don't want to see one or two every DAY. Also, DH had one crawling on him back in May after we'd climbed into bed and he found one in his shirt two days ago. TOO MUCH.  We called the pest people in again to come spray.

    F*****G BROWN RECLUSES.

I was so sure that they were wolf spiders (because of their size) that I didn't even think about it. Then the pest control guy calls down the stairs "Ma'am, these are brown recluse spiders." I'm surprised I didn't have a freaking panic attack right there. I've lived in an apartment with recluse spiders. It's a nightmare. The CONSTANT VIGILANCE. Making sure nothing's on the floor, vacuuming under furniture, not walking around barefoot (in case you step on one), but they were TINY! I never saw a big one, they were itty bitty and I never saw them out wandering, I would discover them by accident if I moved a piece of furniture. They were RECLUSIVE.

Apparently the reason we're seeing them out in the house during the day and why they're so big is because they thrived in the house attic when no one was living here, and apparently the previous owners didn't keep up with the bug spray while the house sat on the market. So, there are so many of them (and they hate being around each other) that they've moved out of the attic space and are looking for new places to hide.

After the pest guy left I basically lost my mind.

He assured me that you CAN get rid of them, but they're notoriously difficult to completely eradicate right away and they're coming from that FLIPPING OVERGROWN PROPERTY THAT DOESN'T BELONG TO US. So it's going to take time.

Small reliefs: They only bite when they get mashed (if you lay on one or put your foot in a shoe where one is hiding), they don't bite for fun or even in regular self defense. Their normal defense is to run away. Also only a small percentage of their bites become those horrible wounds you see on people (if you don't know what it looks like, I don't recommend googling it.) They also hate people and other animals, so they don't hide anywhere where people are frequently, but I don't' care. Poisonous bugs in my house! AROUND MY BABY!

I want to freaking move but of course we can't, we just moved in! HOW DID THE PEST PEOPLE NOT NOTICE THIS WHEN THEY INSPECTED THE HOUSE THE FIRST TIME!?

I'm beyond on edge right now. I was fine before when I thought they were harmless. Catch and remove. No big deal. Now? It's like living with tiny little monsters.

We're doing a full sweep under and behind all furniture/wall hangings with a vacuum and are having the pest people come in and fog the house on Friday. Sticky traps are out (and are actually one of the most effective ways of eradicating them) EVERYWHERE.

It's like my world flipped over in the span of a few seconds. What a nightmare.

  • @Bibliobebe I'm so sorry you are going through that! It sounds like a nightmare. I think you are doing everything you possibly could do to fix the issue.. Luckily we still have a few months before baby so maybe it will be a non issue by then?
  • Ahhh @bibliobebe that sounds awful! I would feel the exact same way. Eek! Glad you found it now and not further towards September. Hopefully you can clear the majority of them out long before baby arrives. Yuck. It makes my skin crawl!

Omg @Bibliobebe I would be freaking out! Not that I'm telling you to freak out :)

Hopefully as someone else mentioned since we have a few months, maybe they can do a few rounds of "treatment" to the house to get rid of them as much as possible before baby comes? I don't even know what I would do..I can't handle harmless bugs inside, let alone poisonous ones!
  • @Bibliobebe I can't even imagine! Hoping everything gets resolved quickly and those spiders are gone! The only thing I could imagine worse is roaches but that's just cause I cannot deal with them at all (they're my biggest phobia). I know someone who had a brown recluse bite but luckily it didn't get too bad. She had a chunk about the size of a quarter missing from her thigh. It was a freak thing were she put on a pair of pants and it happened to be in there. I've always thought they were little too so good to know that they came be different sizes. Good luck and hope no one gets bit!
  • So how does the Facebook thing work? I never went that far last time, I just lurked the whole pregnancy.

Talk of a Facebook group already? I'm personally not ready to take our relationship to that level. Last BMB I wasn't ready for like a year plus. Too many internet crazies out there. But usually someone says "hey let's start a Facebook group" and then you end up PMing a person with your name so you can be invited.....other fb groups start out in secret. Invite-only. Whoever starts the group PMs people they want to join.

  • Normally I would be all for a FB group, but I just found out last night that one of my own Facebook friends took a pic I posted and shared it on Reddit yesterday. :( It wasn't a huge deal since it was a cute journal entry I shared from when I was in the 3rd grade, but it was super weird to hear from another FB friend that they saw my pic on Reddit the same day. I couldn't find the post and no one would admit to it when I asked...so now I am super paranoid about who I am already letting into my life. Sigh...

  • Just thought I'd share a little "spider freak out" picture with you guys. DH and I pulled the entire bedroom apart, all the drawers, and the mattress, to check for webs and spiders. Found 1. Thankfully, because they're "reclusive" they hate being around each other and if you find one there probably isn't another one close but we're checking anyway.

We were able to laugh a little at the absurdity. DH is taking a remote day on Friday so we can travel out of town with the animals while the house is being fumigated, he had to tell his team-mates why he'd be working out of office and each of them texted back something to the effect of:  "All houses in this state have brown recluses, it's just a matter of whether you see them or not!" One of them even texted "Sleep tight!"   Real cute, guys. Real cute.

  • @blondie080300 yikes, that would weird me out! And reinforces my hesitance to share much on FB. My mom used to be a serial "forwarder" of emails I sent her. I had to have a talk with her about why that felt like a breech of trust. hope whoever posted your photo was appropriately shamed even if they didn't admit it!
  • Reading articles on FB when I came across this one for FTMs especially for the first months after pregnancy:
    https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5519562.html

I found it to be a great read as I swear I've already had all of these worries and my baby's not here yet.  It was great to hear it from someone who was there that it won't be all sunshine and roses and you (and baby) will be ok.

Any STMs have any of the feelings in the article? I know I'll have the 'What did I do feeling?' When I've reached Zombie mode and am doing the thousandth 2AM feeding, I just have to remember it's normal and it'll pass.
  • @SarahDarah333 thanks for that. I just ordered one. Can't go wrong for only 6 dollars

My skin was crawling just from reading your post because I am intensely afraid of ALL spiders. I would not be able to sleep at night knowing poisonous spiders were living with me and my children. I hope you can properly clear them out soon!

I'm not really expecting it to be honored (I expect a cancellation based on pricing error, especially since it's not sold directly by Amazon, which is a bigger company and better able to eat the loss), but I had to try for that price!  Who knows, maybe we'll all get an awesome deal!
