Re: Symptoms Thread - June

  • What does it mean if all of the movement I feel is below my belly button? Like all of it. I haven't felt anything above my belly button this whole pregnancy. Im having such a hard time figuring out how she's positioned. The only time I feel movement anywhere else, it's when I'm lying down.

  • @MrsVoorhees that's how my movement was up until a couple weeks ago. I thought for sure she was breech but her head is down and body is shaped like a C. I now feel her legs kicking my ribs and I guess her arms and head in the lower area.

But she is so low I am typing this while having a ice pack between my legs because I'm that sore and swollen. I think that and my restless legs while trying to sleep are my two worst symptoms

@MrsVoorhees that's how I was up until a few weeks ago. I was pretty sure he was sideways because I would feel jabs at the same time near both of my sides! (Kind of where love handles would be). Then one night he looked like a bowling ball moving around and it was so uncomfortable and when I saw him a few days ago he was head down and now the movements are different.
Is it possible your baby is sideways? Or they're all in the middle of your belly but lower? Do you ever feel a big ball above your belly button that could be the head? Cause maybe baby is breech?

  • @RG1 I feel everything right below my belly button all the way down to my cervix. I'm wondering if she's head down and hella folded? Like maybe her feet are right by her head? I don't ever feel anything anywhere else, it's really weird! I have an appointment in a couple of weeks, I'll be 28 weeks then, will she be big enough for my dr to feel? I'm just interested, not worried, she moves all the time. I just want to know how she's laying, and I'm also paranoid about her being breech fuh lyfe.
  • @MrsVoorhees - I still can't buy condoms or anything sex related in a store. I make DH do it. Or I order it on Amazon. Thank goodness for Prime.

My major symptom of the day is back pain. Loki get's it.
  • @PoodleDoodleOoo Inwas also embarrassed to tell my parents I was pregnant, both times. I felt like I was in high school and had to tell them the quarterback knocked me up. So dumb.

That could make sense if she's all folded up! I think the doctor might be able to feel at that point. I'm 29 weeks and I can usually tell where his head or bum is (can't differentiate the 2) after he moves cause I'll feel a hard ball with nothing around it

I bought my mom a gift that said "best grandma ever" to tell her because I knew those words were not going to come out of my mouth. It was exciting to share the news, but it felt a little to close to saying something like "Mom, I have sex."

DH had to tell his parents, and I immediately turned beet red when it happened.
  • @PoodleDoodleOoo and @MrsVoorhees - I certainly did not use the phrase "I'm pregnant!" to tell my parents.. it felt like something I had feared having to tell them all through my teenage years. I must have said something like "Come December, there will be a baby!"  And this time I used my son to say "Coming in September, Emmett is going to be a big brother" so I could put the focus on him instead of saying "Matt and I had sex and he put another baby in me!" shudder.

  • I've had a really hard time sitting upright at work.  It makes my stomach all crampy, my back aches, and I feel slightly nauseous like I could pass out. :s  If I lean too far forward to balance out the back pain baby kicks/punches me really hard in the cervix, and if I lean too far back I'm going to fall asleep. It's getting tough because I work a desk job.  I haven't even hit 30 weeks yet, blech.  I don't remember this from the last time around.

  • @Steephers123 - I'm with ya on sitting at work. Leaning back I can't really type, leaning forward this baby assaults me to no end, especially if I prop up my feet to keep them from turning into sausages in my flip flops. Someone suggested a wireless keyboard right on my bump... I haven't completely thrown out the idea!

  • Ok, it's not just me! DH doesn't get it! As excited as I was to tell my parents that I was pregnant, I had the hardest time because, as I told DH, it's basically saying "Mom, Dad, I had sex!" When we announced these 2 and I brought it up to DH again, he just looked at me and said "We've been married for 11 years. I'm pretty sure they know we've had sex at least once." Not the point DH, not the point.

  • Haha I'm really glad I'm not the only one too!! I felt so stupid since most people can't wait to announce their pregnant. With DD1, H told my grandmother in law at Easter and then when everyone sat down to eat, she said, "(my name) has an announcement to make!" And I simultaneously shit myself and died.
  • I'm pretty sure I could fall asleep anywhere at any time

I could literally feel my stomach growing today at work. The muscles are so sore and felt like they were separating/stretching apart. I looked in the mirror when I got home and the bump really does look bigger and extra veiny! I am so sore and feel bad since my dog needs a walk but after a 10 hour day, I just want my feet up with minimal movement.

**Update: DH took the pup for a walk as he usually does when I am too tired/sore. <3**

I just fell asleep sitting on the couch. I have only "fallen" asleep 3 times in my life. By that I mean that I wasn't intending to go to sleep, I just fell asleep. It was weird and my head was not laying down lol

I had that same feeling today too. It was right after I went to the chiro so I'm not sure if it had anything to do with that but it definitely felt like my lower area was stretching

  • Decided to stretch out my legs in bed this morning to help alleviate some of my hip pain and instantly got a charlie horse. There is no winning.

  • So sorry to all the other mamas enduring various aches and pains!

I've had a horrible sleep the last three nights in a row, the new carpel tunnel symptoms have turned from numbness to pain and weakness in my right hand. I had pain just using cutlery at lunch yesterday  :/ Going to see a doctor tomorrow, this is driving me nuts!
  • @camichael84 Did you point your toes? Never point your toes!
  • @MrsVoorhees I don't think so. I learned that lesson my last pregnancy. But I haven't had as many charlie horses this time (a lot of foot cramps instead... weird?), so maybe I did without thinking.

  • Oh yeah, forgot to mention this in my previous post. I also have a rash of red, itchy, raised little bumps on the inside of both my ankles for the last 3 days but thankfully is not spreading.

Anyone else experience this before? I'll ask the dr about it tomorrow but I find it strange that it's on both ankles equally. My coworker mentioned Pupps or something like that but at this point I don't want to self diagnose.

Anyone else for heart problems? I apparently have a flow intake murmur (I don't think the kind of murmur matters, just what the doc said) and some kind of vasovagal problem that is causing my dizziness and fainting. I get to wear a big sexy heart monitor for a week, which is really great as it is A: My birthday and B: A holiday weekend. Anyway, anyone else have any experience with heart issues? I also have low blood pressure. I am concerned about this making my doc reluctant to give me an epidural during labor.

@camichael84 @MrsVoorhees every morning I wake up and start to point my toes while stretching, and feel my calves get ready to ruin my life. I usually remember not to point them just in time. Charlie horses are the worst.

  • @geminigirl16 I had a similar rash postpartum that was caused by hormones and went away after a month or so. Cortisone helped with the itching. I don't know much about PUPPS, but I've heard it's very annoying and doesn't go away until birth. Sending good vibes that it's not that.

  • Heartburn...the apple cider vinegar helped for a bit but I think it was starting to make me nauseous in the morning...I'm now on to taking Pepcid once a day...it helped for a few days...can I take it twice a day?
Also, how long after eating something can it cause heartburn? I'm trying to figure what is possibly triggering it...is it my most recent meal or was it the meal prior?? Was it something I ate yesterday that's affecting me today? I always assumed it was the most recent thing I ate but I can eat cereal and get heartburn!

  • For the leg cramps I am now sold on eating pumpkin seeds (pepitas). I add them to my yogurt at breakfast and it's like magic, that night no leg cramps! My midwife told me to try and get more magnesium and suggested them. When I was out of them and didn't eat them for a week - leg cramps almost every night.

Save yourself the doc money and go to the store to buy some wrist braces. That is all the doc will do. Mine is starting to flare up as well and have pulled mine back out. I have them on from the time I get home from work til the next morning.
  • I'm very good at knowing not to point my toes when stretching.. but I keep making the mistake of kneeling down on the ground to play with my son, and pointing my toes out behind me while my thighs are resting down on my calves (does that make sense).  I start to get a cramp in the bottom of my foot when I do that and if I don't immediately pull in my toes so that I'm up on them instead, I know a charlie horse would follow. ugh!

@AnnaS930 Makes perfect sense because it's been happening to me. I usually sit criss-cross on the floor with McKenna, but when we were painting the nursery I did a lot of sitting that way, and I got foot cramps galore. It also happens when I'm on top during sex... total mood killer. I did get some pumpkin seeds last night at @pdxmamatobe 's suggestion. Hopefully they work, but if not they are still a total snack score for my GD-- 10 g of protein with only 4 g of carbs in 1/4 c.

  • Don't feel like starting up a July symptoms thread... since my bloodwork came back with low iron (no surprise) I've been taking my iron supplement every day, and taking a colace with it to be proactive and not get backed up.  This has resulted in the lovely "marker poos" as we all know them by. I should probably skip the softener a few days but it's making things so easy and keeping them moving so far, I'm afraid to stop!
