Gah! That was my exact thought when Anna said she wished Donna was her spirit animal.
Ron Swanson is DH's spirit animal. He has a Pinterest board dedicated to quotes and literally all of it is Ron Swanson quotes.
Also, being from Indiana, Parks and Rec holds a special place in my heart. DH and I went to college in Jerry's favorite vacation spot, Muncie, Indiana. (It is not a lovely city.)
@MrsVoorhees I haven't watched the out takes, but I'm going to tell DH we have to now. He will also die for them. Esquire plays marathons all the time! We end up watching it almost every weekend (even though we've seen every episode multiple times).

Story. of. my life. Any time there's nothing on TV, we're like "hey.. check to see if Parks and Rec is on" and EVERY episode is good (obviously many are GREAT). There are other shows we've seen all of, HIMYM, The Office, etc.. and if we put on a rerun sometimes it's an episode we didn't care for.. never happens with Parks and Rec.
Here's a weird pregnancy - thing for me. Kind of a symptom. I sleep on my side (flipping back and forth) and sometimes a bit on my back, so when I wake up, my bump is quite a bit smaller than the end of the day. Often when I wake up, I don't "feel" pregnant. I have to physically put my hand on my stomach to feel that the bump is still there. This is obviously before attempting to sit up (reference turtle on his back in the meme thread). Luckily this far along the bump is always there, even if smaller.. but earlier in pregnancy it really messes with me. Like every morning I wake up and remind myself "it wasn't a dream.. you're still pregnant, all is going well" and obviously at this point should something happen, my bump wouldn't just disappear over night without me noticing.

So strange.
Yes this happens to me too! I even took a video one morning of my belly when i woke up because he was moving around so much and I barely look pregnant from the angle and because I'm lying down.
Annnnd the nosebleeds are back. Today is especially rough with my allergies acting up so every time I sneeze or need to blow my nose, blood comes gushing out. So. GROSS.

All that business about pregnant women burning more easily in the sun is totally true. I was off Monday and went swimming at my parents house. I used sunblock but missed a few spots and the burn in those spots is horrible!! I rarely burn like this. Last time I got a burn this bad was in the Caribbean, definitely never in Pennsylvania. Make sure you're completely covered ladies!
Like @Thscary mentioned, I also got a little burn on Monday. I was gardening outside for a while and didn't notice until I got out of the shower later that I had burnt my shoulders and chest a bit. I normally don't burn that easily! My bad for not wearing sunscreen, but I will next time.
@Thscary thanks for the warning! Haven't been in the sun that much but will pay close attention this weekend at the beach. NOT that I was planning on wearing a bikini haha....but will cover up even more.
I think maybe Claire flipped, but flipped posterior. So much stretching/ripping type pain in my upper stomach when I walk, and my ribs hurt and I can't breathe. Yucky. I hope she moves tonight to normal. DD1 was posterior at birth and had to be sucked out, I wpold like to avoid that this time.
Restlessness. This is a symptom I've had since pretty early on in the second trimester. I knew restless legs were a thing but I get a really crazy restless feeling in my upper body and it wakes me up consistently throughout the night. When I wake up, I am AWAKE. Super tired still, but wired feeling, like I've had way too much sugar. Nurse says it's anxiety, but I don't feel anxious about anything I'm just... awake and jittery.
Back pain - I did this to myself. I was like "Oh, I'm fine moving this bed by myself. It's only a mattress and box springs and frame. No biggie." And then I pulled a muscle in my lower neck/upper back and it's been bugging me now for almost two weeks.
Shortness of Breath/ High heart rate - This actually scared me enough that I called my nurse who advised me to go to the ER. 120 bpm and dizziness had her wanting me to get things checked out. The OBG at the hospital didn't seem to understand why my clinic had wanted me to go to the ER, he said what I was experiencing was common but ran a ton of tests anyway. I was there for 7 hours! AGH. Thankfully everything is completely fine and he assured me that dizziness/shortness of breath/ and even a high heart rate are normal as long as they're occasional and don't come with any other symptoms.
Other than that... I think I've had it pretty easy lately. Very little Heartburn, zero nausea, no headaches, and my Braxton Hicks don't hurt or even feel uncomfortable, they're just weird.

Anyone NOT feeling braxton hicks yet? I have read everyone's descriptions of them and I don't think I have experienced this yet. I drink a ton of water to avoid early contractions so could that be why? Or is it normal to not experience them? Will I eventually feel it as my pregnancy progresses?
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@blondie080300 I'm pretty sure it's VERY normal not to feel Braxton Hicks. I've read in numerous places that not everyone does. Also, I have differing stories from the mama's in my life regarding them. If you don't feel them at all, I doubt it's cause to worry!
@blondie080300 I am quite certain that I haven't experienced BH yet either or it hasn't been strong enough for me to notice. I also drink a lot of water or perhaps I'll get them later on? I'm currently 28+2 weeks do maybe it's yet to come?
@blondie080300 I'm only been feeling them lightly (just a light feeling of tightening in my belly, often when I'm sort of stretched out anyway). They are certainly never painful, like others have described, and I don't notice any particular change in belly hardness, either. It's possible you're having them and not noticing, but as PPs have said, you might not get them at all! Luckily, they are just like all the other "classic" pregnancy symptoms - way more varied than popular convention and have no relevance on the health of your pregnancy!
@blondie080300 - I should consult my pregnancy journal from last time, but I don't remember feeling braxton hicks really at all with Emmett. I don't know if I didn't have them, or just couldn't identify what I was feeling, but I have them regularly this time. I think last time I figured he was just stretched out oddly for little bursts of time and didn't realize that the tightness was more likely my uterus contracting a bit versus him stretching outward.
AGH! MY SIDES! I can feel the muscles on both sides of my belly stretching from back to groin. Feels like I've got two tight rubber bands flanking my baby bump. It doesn't HURT necessarily, it's just really uncomfortable. Like I strained something. I'll be walking and minding my own business and then suddenly jerk to one side because I pulled it wrong. Undeniably graceful pregnant woman.
@blondie080300 I haven't had them yet either. I get cramping while walking if I go too fast, or if I'm dehydrated, but other than that no pressure or tightening. Just lots of baby kicks
My symptom today is just being in a funk- which is so not me. I've been the happiest prego this whole time (aside from the drama at my job with my boss for a little bit a couple of months ago). Mood swings SUCK! Trying to pull myself out of it.
My boobs feel like they are ready to start feeding. Like they are gearing up, like pulling the chain on a lawn mower to get going weird feeling. To my body I say:
My belly has gotten so itchy the past few days!! I think it's because I feel like my bump has about doubled in size in like 4 days, so my skin is having a hard time keeping up with baby. Currently slathering myself in coconut oil, it's the only thing that makes my skin feel better!
Is anyone else's hands going numb? My right hand in particular is having pins and needles at the time: cooking dinner, sitting on couch, driving, lying in bed. It comes and goes and I don't know how to get rid of it. Does it go away after pregnancy?
Could it be carpal tunnel @geminigirl16 ? I knew someone who had it during pregnancy. I have the opposite problem - my leg goes numb. what a pain...from what I'm told, it does go away after pregnancy.
@geminigirl16 I've read that carpal tunnel syndrome (which creates the symptoms you're describing) is really common in pregnancy... the fluid and swelling puts pressure on the nerves that run through the carpal tunnel in the wrist, causing the numbness/tingling. It does go away after pregnancy, but you could try a simple wrist brace in the meantime when it flares up!
@SarahDarah333 I was in a bad funk on Saturday. I have also been pretty happy most of my pregnancy. I could literally feel my hormones coursing through my body and I was crying a lot and just wanted to be left alone (it's been a long time since I have felt so emotional-despite being pregnant). Luckily I snapped out of it so I hope you do too! I know you have some stress going on and on Saturday I did too. So I think the pregnancy just intensifies the really low feelings that would be normal in anyone who has stress.
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@SarahDarah333 - Agreed with Blondie. Stress during pregnancy can put you in a real funk. I cried yesterday because my fridge broke. We had even saved the milk, so I can claim I was crying over spilled/spoiled milk either! I also hit funky moods pretty often.. in the evening we'll go to put on a TV show and I don't want to watch any of the options, to the point that I get irritated just thinking about watching it. It's like I don't know what I want to do, just not that. Keep your chin up!
Guys, the gas is so bad today. But not even like farting gas, it's that same gas I had last week that just won't move. I think if I wasn't pregnant, I would still look the same as I do now because of how much is in there. I bought Metamucil and Gas X at the pharmacy with no shame. Non pregnant me would've been a little embarrassed. I still get embarrassed buying KY or Monistat. Hell, I was shy buying pregnancy tests and I'm 29 years old.
@MrsVoorhees Me too on the being embarrassed buying personal items. Well, they're PERSONAL items and I don't know the person at the checkout from Adam. If there's a self checkout available I'll always use it if I have an intimate item.
Buying things like KY or pregnancy tests just scream "I'M HAVING SEX". I'm not a prude, it's an entirely natural thing to do, but I don't go around with a badge on my shirt either and those personal items feel exactly like a badge. LOL
Of course being pregnant is one big announcement to the world, isn't it?
@rock1cherry@SLou24 Yes, I finally reverted to Doctor Google this morning and I guess I am in the lucky 25% of pregnant women to get pregnancy carpel tunnel
I compensated today while training my replacement and had him do everything on my computer while I just oversaw and directed from the side. Why type when I can get him to do it all for me?!
I'm going to try sleeping with my arms propped on a pillow and will try to find a brace if it doesn't resolve itself.
@geminigirl16 I think my friend said she sometimes slept propped way up. Almost sitting. That doesn't sound ideal to me but if it works and you can sleep comfortably then maybe that's an option?
It's nice you have a little help at work now - I'm sure the typing doesn't help the CT so that's a little bonus.
I've been feeling a lot of movement down low, not kicking, more like pushing, rolling and flutters. When I stand up, the weight of my ute presses on my bladder and I have to go pee even if I didn't need to while sitting (sometimes I pee, wash my hands and turn around to pee again).
Well, I've also noticed pain down low sometimes when I walk (for a few weeks but more than usual now), it's stabby, UTI-like pain but near my cervix that comes on suddenly, almost like baby pushing down. It feels like the strong, sudden, painful kicks to the bladder and cervix except it lasts a little longer. Anyone experience this?
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom Yeeesh, that sounds icky. I've had baby pushing on my bladder and it feels like I need to pee REALLY BAD when there's barely a trickle in there. It does feel a little like UTI pain, but I don't get the burning/sharp pains like you're describing. Also, after my nurse pushed on my belly this morning to feel where baby was positioned I had the "urgent need to pee" feeling linger in my bladder even after I visited the restroom at the clinic but it vanished after a few minutes.
I know that UTI likelihood raises just a tad during pregnancy. You can always buy the UTI test strips at drug store (Azo is a brand I know of for sure) and at least it would settle your mind knowing you DIDN'T have one.

And thanks everyone for the input on BH. I am definitely NOT worried about not feeling them yet.
