How did it go? It went really well. We looked a lot at baby's heart because he was in a bad position for them to get the right measurements, but when the doctor came in he finally moved just right and gave us the pictures.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? We found out we're having a healthy baby boy! My son is so excited; he's wanted a brother since he knew we were having a baby. I had a gut feeling that it was a boy from the beginning and my husband thought that it was a girl, so I got to pick dinner out after our appointment because I was right.
How did it go? It went very very well. We have to go back for face/nose shots (because baby was done after being prodded lol) at my 24 week appointment, but all in all a great appointment.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? We are TEAM BLUE! Can't wait to meet our little Prince in October!
How did it go? great! It was quicker than I thought and everything looks good. She's small, measuring 3 days behind our already adjusted by two weeks due date of 11/3, but she looks perfect!
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? Baby is a girl! We're thrilled but DS1 wanted a brother, LOL. Ultrasound tech said she was absolutely sure, no question a girl. I can't wait to buy something pink!
How far along were you/will you be? 21w4d, FINALLY get to post on this thread
How did it go? It was good! All organs accounted for, all internal, all appear to be normal. Baby is DEFINITELY a boy and he was moving all over the place. I think he was head-down, butt-down and sideways during the 20-minute appointment. The doctor got all of the pics she needs except the left hand. He simply refused to open his fist and show off his fingers but I'm just going to have to live with not being sure one hand has all 5 fingers for a while
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? I learned that baby is a chunker. He weighed in at 508g / 1lb2oz, about a week ahead of schedule, but still within normal range.
Update: Dr. called me yesterday to let me know the radiologist saw a soft marker called an Echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF) on my daughter's right ventricle of her heart. This is not a heart defect but could be an indicator of a chromosomal problem. I have done extensive research on this online and even gleaned some great info from TB. Basically since this was the only marker they found and everything else on her looked and measured great I have no need to worry myself into a panic. I will be having another more detailed U/S next week which of course I will update all my gals on. I enjoy all the support on our board and am rooting for team October 2016!
How did it go? Great! The baby has all parts in place and let the tech get all the necessary measurements. Measuring close to a week ahead (interesting, since if my dates are off at all, I'm less far along, not more) and weighing about 1 pound, with notably long femurs. My placenta is in front but away from my cervix -- no cause for concern.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? It's a girl! We found out within the first two minutes of the scan, so she's not shy. We're not going to go crazy with the pink stuff, but we did stop on the way home and buy a fuzzy pink outfit (and a unisex one with aliens on it).
How did it go?It went really well! Baby is measuring a few days ahead and looks great. We found out that we are having another little girl!
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? I learned that I have an anterior placenta, but the doctor was concerned about the location of the placenta. It's really close to my c-section scar and he was worried that it might attach to the scar tissue (placenta accreta). If that happens, they might schedule my c-section at 36-37 weeks and there is a chance that they would need to do a hysterectomy after the delivery. In the meantime, I'm on pelvic rest and I'll get another ultrasound in 11 weeks.

How did it go? Good. Except today I'm sore from all the pushing. At one point the tech needed the heart shots and couldn't get it so she had to press to get the baby to move around a bit. Once she got them everything was fine, but now I'm crampy and have some bruises on my tummy...ugh!
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? It's a boy! We have a 4 year old daughter, so very excited to have one of each. Now I'm done, factory is shutting down after this birth.
How did it go? It went really well! We decided that we wouldn't find out the gender at the appointment, but instead found out with our families last night with reveal cupcakes. So the screens were off for most of the ultrasound.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? We found out last night that it's a girl! We're thrilled and were surprised, as we'd both somehow guessed it was a boy. The doctor said they couldn't get a clear enough review of the heart, so I have to go back in two weeks for a follow up scan. She said it's really normal though, and from what she could see of the heart, nothing seemed abnormal. Everything else looks good. I think I've read here about a few other ladies having to go back for a repeat scan?

@MorganL925 yep, we have to go back too! We're going next Thursday (5 weeks after A/S) because baby was curled up so they couldn't see the bottom of his spine. Seems pretty common for the baby to not cooperate with all of the measurements. I'm excited to see little one again! Glad to hear everything else looked good for your babe!
How did it go? It went really great! Everything measured as it should and baby was really helpful by letting us get all our pics. I was kinda concerned that he was gonna be a little small because I just haven't had much of a appetite throughout this whole pregnancy but he's healthy 56th percentile!
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? Didn't learn anything new, it was just nice seeing him jump around. Boyfriend was stoked because he flashed us his little weiner and flexed his guns for us too lol
@MorganL925 I ahve to go back for a second AS with MFM this Tuesday, I am not upset about it because that means I get to look at LO again! @mauishay that clarification made me laugh pretty hard.
SO and I have been together: 5 Years+ BFP: 03/10 First Baby: 10/20/2016
I had my repeat A/S today. Both babies are BOYS (they thought one might be a girl two weeks ago at my cervix scan), weigh 1 lb 2 oz each, and have really long arm and leg bones. Cervix is nice and long still. Babies are perfect!
had mine yesterday at 21 weeks. she is doing great! they found a tiny calcium deposit on her heart and they want to watch her right kidney to make sure it doesn't get enlarged.
I know I must be one of the last to have an a/s so here goes!
When is/was your scan? June 13
How far along were you/will you be? 20w1d
How did it go? It went okay. Baby wasn't really cooperating and I had to get up and move around four times. Everything the tech was able to capture looked normal, but in the end it just wasn't enough. My OB is sending me to a MFM for another ultrasound next week to finish measuring. Judging from the rest of your experiences it doesn't seem all that uncommon to have to go in for a part 2, so that's putting me at ease.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? It's a girl! We are thrilled. My OB also mentioned that my amniotic fluid was on the low side, which may have been why baby wasn't able to move in a good position. She said the levels were still in the normal range, but of course it has me worried...
How did it go? It was great! LO one jumping and rolling like crazy, which was fun to see. My ultrasound tech was 38 wks pregnant, so we had lots to chat about.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? We already knew the sex (a boy!), but found out baby is measuring big - 76th percentile. DS1 was a big baby at 8 lbs, 14 oz., so not overly surprising. But, I must admit I was hoping against all hope for a smaller on this time around. But, baby is healthy, so that's the most important thing.
How did it go? Great, we had a lovely tech. He spent lots of time after he did all his measurements and stuff to show us the baby. We had my parents, and my husbands parents and our two girls in there and he didn't mind a bit. It's the last baby for us and this time the girls were excited so there was lots of excited people. Plascenta is in the right spot, lots of fluid for baby, good strong heart beat of 144, and he was very active the entire time. I think my girls finally had the AHA moment and realized there is legit a human in moms tummy and they seems quite intrigued.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? thankfully no surprises and we still have a boy on the way!

Married: August 2009 DD #1 born 6/12/14 DD #2 born 10/31/16
How did it go? Everything looks great, and they were able to get all of the measurements needed.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? She currently weighs 12 ounces, and was punching me during the scan. It was nice to know that what I have been feeling is definitely the baby, and the us tech even felt it when she punched my placenta at one point. No other new news, but it was so great to see her again!
How did it go? It was a lot quicker than I thought it would be. The tech seems to have a ton of experience and she just clicked away, looking for what she needed to see and measuring every part. Everything is measuring normally and is going well. The baby weighs about a pound and is head down for now (who knows where she'll be in 19 weeks).
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? I'm having a girl! I had been keeping it to myself, but I really hoped she would be a girl and my gut said she was. I'm glad to add another check to the 'my gut is trustworthy' column.
Has anyone received their bill from the anatomy scan? We did today. $452 after insurance.. I called my insurance and the provider to double check and they said I must have really good coverage if my bill is ONLY $452. Whaa?!
@Sprinkels28We haven't gotten the bill for the anatomy scan yet, but ended up paying $835.82 for the NT and another $161.28 for the radiologist to review it. It was before we hit our deductible, but yeah, ultrasounds are pretty expensive.(Looks like the anatomy scan may be slightly cheaper. The bill for reading the report is $86, though the bill for the actual scan hasn't come in yet.)
When is/was your scan? May 31st and a follow-up today, June 16th.
How far along were you/will you be? 21 weeks 3 days; 23 weeks 5 days
How did it go? Other than a stubborn baby who was in breech position the entire first scan, requiring me to come back for a follow-up, it went fine. All is well.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? He's a big one - 71st percentile. I know babies grow at different paces, so I hope he doesn't keep growing at this rate - I'll never be able to push him out.
@Sprinkels28 yikes! The anatomy scan for us was around the same price (in the $400s I believe) but that was before insurance. We ended up only having a $40 copay thankfully. I'm just waiting for the big bill at the end though, we have to pay 10% of all of the dr visits and delivery fees.
As I understand mine (and has proven true so far) one copay (I think $40) covers all my prenatal care including any necessary scans (because they are done in the same office, I think). That meant dating scan, NT scan, anatomy scan - so I'm done, unless I have issues, and I hope I don't even though that means no more peeks at baby OR paying the amount for the elective scan they offer in the third trimester, which I don't know how much it is yet. I thought that was standard requirement under the current ACA insurance laws in the US. (Again, differences may be due to some folks having their scans somewhere other than in the doctor's office.)
How did it go? Great!! Peanut was sleeping, and did not want to be bothered. He kept turning away, which meant the tech got most of the measurements, but not all. Yay Peanut for being uncooperative!! If she got all of the measurements, we wouldn't have another ultrasound until 36 weeks. But now we get another ultrasound at our next appointment in 4 weeks. Yay!! Everything that was measured was normal, and nothing was concerning. Amniotic fluid was at a normal level, and my cervix was closed. It was also reconfirmed that Peanut is a boy.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? Nothing new to report. Still have a boy on the way!!
Had ours today (June 17) at 20w1d (measured right about there, too). Scan went great, Scuba Steve was curled up against my placenta snoozing almost the whole time and it was adorable. Didn't see anything alarming or unusual. Just a regular old human baby.
We had our repeat scan today (23w6d). Last time, they couldn't see his kidneys and were concerned about a low-lying placenta, but they wanted to see if both would resolve with a little time (last one was at 18w). They did! Kidneys looked great, and she said the doctor will confirm at our next appointment, but it looked like the placenta was in a good position this time.
He is definitely still a boy That was the only thing he let us see. She tried to get us some 3D shots of his face for us, but he kept his arms up around his head the whole time. He is behind my belly button with his feet headed down, but there is still plenty of time for him to turn. He had hiccups and it was fun to watch his little belly with them. He is growing perfectly, and weighs 1 lb 9 oz right now!
How did it go? Awesome! She was flipping around like crazy in there, but the tech managed to get what she needed. Everything looked perfect. According to all the measurements, my due date would be the 21st instead of the 18th. That's actually more on track with my LMP, which indicated a due date of Oct 24th.
Did you learn anything new about you or baby? She's healthy! She is long and has long hands and feet (I'm 5'10, DH is 6'4, so that makes sense). The tech kept commenting on how wiggly she was, but I already knew that!
Had my follow up with the specialist today after my A/S showed baby had a echogenic focus on her let ventricle of her heart. 1 in 20 babies have these and 99% of the time everything is normal as long as there are no other ultrasound markers found. Nothing else was found today so I am very positive and relieved to learn the chances of the baby having Downs is 1 on 1,000 which is the same as any Mom my age. Praise the Lord and thank you all for the support! Also- baby measured on track for Oct 18th EDD and is in the 38th percentile. Once again she had her feet stretched over her head. The nurse flipped on the 4D just for a quick second so we could see her face and of course she was covering her face! I did get a photo in 4D of her profile and hand but somehow between the car and getting home the photo disappeared I did have the window open so it might have flown out the window during highway driving. Next ultrasound- 32 weeks
hello all. Hope you don't mind me posting again. The last two months have been rough but I'm starting to see the light
when was was your scan: June 14 how far along were you?: 20 weeks, 3 days how'd it go: it went well! We disliked our tech, who was probably the least personable tech we've had at this hospital, but we had the same doctor from DD and from our 12 week scan and she is amazing. Baby was super active and very cooperative! did you learn anything new: we did learn the sex, but since we haven't told our family yet, we're gonna keep it under wraps for now. Very exciting to see all the little baby parts and so happy to hear baby is healthy and is measuring 3 days ahead at 13 ounces.
@annabenanna You are TOO kind!!! I've thought about you all often! Honestly, I was having some major physical and emotional issues with this pregnancy. I was so sick of feeling sick and I was having a hard time connecting with my pregnancy because of it. I just couldn't deal to tell the truth. Buuuuut I'm so happy to be back and you've truly made my night (after a rough day with my toddler!) so thank you! I hope you're doing well!!! I'm trying to catch up with everyone again and reading up on a lot of threads!
Anyone have to go back for a 3rd AS? I am plus size so I know that takes in a factor, but I am not huge!! Last time the baby was moving a lot but now they want me to go to perinatology, they said they haven't seen anything wrong just haven't seen what they wanted to see.
