I'm completely obsessed with smoothies right now. I pretty much day dream about from the time I finish one until it's time to get another one the next day. Today's is spinach, kale, mango, pineapple and ginger. It's so refreshing and delicious, I'm already sad about finishing it. So grateful to finally be craving healthy green things instead of carbs and cheese.

Random, I'm realizing that if I wear lose maternity clothing, I look huge..... and tenty. But if I wear tighter clothing, only my bump looks big. Must stick to tight clothes!

Same! I tried on one of those maternity shirts that tie under the bust line, empire waist style. I looked HUGE. Same thing with dresses that flow out over the bump vs. more form fitting ones. I feel so much more confident in clothes that hug the bump.

This was me a few months ago. All I wanted was smoothies. Now I'm back to craving junk and everything else sounds vomit inducing.
oh heck no @copperboom86 I would be DONE. I don't even like seaweed.
the water in Hawaii is my type of water. crystal clear and no murky sketchy business. Jersey water is horrendous. I just don't like waves either. I have weird phobias and apparently going in the water above my knees is one of them. (I am secretly excited for using a baby pool at the beach next summer for lil mama)
@annabenanna speaking of which I'm looking for a dress for my shower right now, and the are all big and flowy which = me feeling like a walking parade float.

This is so true. I've yet to buy any maternity clothing that wasn't tight fitting. The baggier stuff truly looks terrible, especially if you were a little chunky to begin with.

I'm waiting a bit to find mine for that exact reason. My bump almost disappears in those flowy dresses and just ends up looking like I'm chubby (since I'm not super thin anyway). I'm thinking that by the time I have my shower, I'll have a big enough bump where it won't matter that the dress is flowy, it'll just look pregnant vs fluffy.
On the topic of clothes, I agree I look and feel better in form-fitting clothes. Although I've recently gained a little weight in the thighs, so hoping that's done or else I might feel jiggly and no way am I wearing shapewear in the summer!
However I have a major complex about this due to having been slut shamed my entire life. Here in Europe I feel so much more relaxed about it (because no one, literally no one cares), then last week my mother goes off on a rant about how she has seen pregnant women in clothes "so tight you can see their belly button". Apparently it is ESPECIALLY inappropriate to dress "slutty" while pregnant. She mentioned this came up in some church group and all the lovely ladies find it offensive. I didn't know this was a thing.
@books&icecream My grandmother goes on about this all the time. She is horrified that pregnant women wear such tight clothing. So I've started going over there in yoga pants and camis. The look on her face is priceless.
My mother also has a problem with me wearing tight clothes! Not necessarily because she thinks it's slutty.... but she's like "it looks awful, you're all skinny and you've got a big belly!" and i'm like , Mom I'm pregnant. Of course I have a belly.
My mom also hates tight clothing on pregnant women, but not because she thinks it looks "slutty" or anything (my mom couldn't care less. I'm the prude of the two of us, lol). I think it's more because she had a rough pregnancy with me (I'm an only because they advised her not to have any more) and she gets a bit envious.
I've noticed that if I wear tight clothes, people realize I'm pregnant, whereas if I wear my maternity clothes or looser clothes, it totally hides the bump. I'm still at the stage where people just think I have a food baby.
Kind of a random, but I was talking with my parents about our birth plan, and said that they could be in the room with us. My dad's opting out because I think it embarrasses him, but my mom also asked me if it was okay if she waits in the waiting room, which really surprised me. Apparently on our maternity ward tour, she started having flashbacks and she doesn't think she can handle being in the room with me.
I cannot do the flowy or empire waist maternity clothes. I tried some on recently and as soon as each piece was on I let out an audible "NOPE!" I DGAF what people think, I'm embracing the form fitting clothes. It's pretty cool because in normal life, I try to hide the extra lbs, but now I'm like, "whatever man, I'm pregnant... It's supposed to be there!"
so funny reading all of this... my mom is the opposite. She certainly wants me to look classy but is very modern in her opinions about dressing and, with the exception of a few rogue matronly looking tops she held up once, she picks out things I love when we shop together and LOVES anything that shows off the bump.
I love tight maternity clothes- I refuse to wear anything else! For one, having a baby belly is cute in ways that having a belly never will be again, so I'm taking full advantage. (I have never had a flat stomach, so this is pretty freeing!) For another I am damn proud to be pregnant and super excited. I want the baby bump to be recognized, not hidden.
The thighs I could do without, but oh well. Just part of the package I guess!
At the beginning of my pregnancy my MIL offered to make me maternity clothes because she just thinks its so "trashy" when she see all these pregnant women wearing form fitting clothes. So she was basically telling me that in order to prevent me from looking trashy she would happily crochet me a tent. To say we have opposite styles is putting it mildly.

Thanks for all the thoughts, ladies. I'm trying to keep my mind occupied until we can get further testing set up for DS. It's the most heart wrenching thing wondering if there is something truly wrong with your child. What helped was that yesterday he had a really amazing day with both his speech and his demeanor and it was glorious.
I've always been someone who wears a cardigan or jacket to sort of help disguise the "extra" hanging around my tummy...that, or work some type of Spanx/waist slimmer to just smooth it all out. NOW, I'm rocking tighter shirts and dresses and showing off the bump! For the time in my life, I'm NOT trying to suck it in or flatten it out, so I'm just going to let it all hang out! Besides not getting my period for 9 months, this is my favorite part of pregnancy so far....
@CopperBoom86 I HATE swimming in lakes. None of those are clear enough for me and snakes are way harder to see than a shark. Even back in some of our brackish creeks here, snakes will be swimming around. Ahhhh!
I will swim in the ocean every now and again because on the boat I have no choice, but I rarely venture past my waist and I'm always looking straight out. But my biggest fear isn't sharks. It's sting rays. Those things hide in the sand and can strike at any time. Yes, I do the sting ray shuffle and I never stomp in the water!
I much prefer the pool where the only creatures are the occasional frog or small crab that lost its way.

@TurtleMomma That's great! I did a 2-year internship which included helping with ASD diagnoses and you want to know what a major trend I noticed was? Kids come in with all kinds of symptoms and problems, some minor, some extreme, but the ONE thing that really made a difference in the kids' quality of life? The parents. And from everything you've posted on here you seem like one of the good ones. So no matter the diagnosis, I think you guys are going to be rockstars
And I am LOVING all the body embracing on here!! #bumppride
I have a b belly with a fupa and I gave up and went tight shirts bc I looked even bigger w flowy. The best situation for me is a maxi dress bc the fupa is camoflauged but the top of my belly makes me look pregnant
I guess I'm in the minority here in that I like flowy maternity shirts. First off, they are comfortable as all hell. Second, I've got mega weirdness going on with my belly right now. I'm chunky and started out with a B bump (small waist with a muffin top above and belly fat below). I still have the B bump, and I don't look obviously pregnant yet, but the top is sticking out further than the bottom, which is . . . weird. Tight shirts make me look like I have super odd belly fat, while flowy shirts at least round it out bit and at least make me look mayyyyyybe pregnant. I don't think they make me look bigger overall, but I'm not the best judge of that. I do have a couple of more fitted ruched t shirts that I love and are very flattering, but even those aren't super tight (at least not yet -- I'm assuming when I get to 38+ weeks they'll be filled out pretty darn well!)

My mom and I just decided to plan a trip to DC for her 60th next year and I am beyond excited. We are both history nerds and have been wanting to do this for so long. She NEVER travels for leisure so I said "LET'S JUST DO IT!" And so we are. I'm excited, but I'm more excited for her. I could burst. Plus it's something ELSE to plan for other than baby lol.
I'm still mostly in flowy shirts/dresses. I feel so conflicted about what I am suppose to do/feel since people here do not celebrate pregnancy. I'm also realizing that I have an irrational fear that the more I talk about my pregnancy it will some how hold up/curse our adoption. I know that sounds crazy, and we are so excited about this baby too! I think I'm just in a weird middle ground or something.
I feel so bad for my husband. His grandpa was supposed to come over today for Father's Day and he was going to grill out with him while I took my dad to brunch. His mom is an addict and recently fell off the wagon for the millionth time and H decided he's done with her. He just can't deal with it anymore after trying to help her his whole life and her basically denying she has an issue and refusing treatment. Well, she lives with his grandpa so I guess she threw a hissy fit so grandpa decided it was easier to just not come rather than to come without her. He waited until a half hour after he was supposed to be here to tell him he wasn't coming and I had already left so he couldn't come with me. He ended up sitting at home alone until I came back. Tonight, he wanted crabs so we tried to go to a local place but there was a 90 minute wait and we were too hungry. The place we went instead sucked and he was super bummed and just had a bad day. I know this baby isn't here yet but I just wish he could have had a good Father's Day. I'm really hoping this baby will start kicking up a storm so he can feel him for the first time. He's such a stinker though, everytime he starts kicking, he stops as soon as you put your hand there. Come on peanut!

Awww, @mrscorker , I feel so bad for your husband! What a bummer of a day! Strong of him to take a stand with his Mom though - I had to do something similar with my father years ago, and I have to say, we've now gotten to safe middle ground where I sort of accept him for what he is, but don't put a lot of emotion into to keep myself from being let down again... It's hard, but it can eventually get better and not be SO difficult!! He's doing what's right for him right now, so good for him! Hopefully, he and his grandfather can have a makeup grill session, and hopefully you guys can get lucky with the crabs!
@MRSCORKER, that's the saddest father's day! I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you can surprise him with a father's day re-take and try going to the crab place again?
