  • When is/was your scan? It was Friday, 6/3/16

How far along were you/ will you be? 19w6d

How did it go? It went really well. We looked a lot at baby's heart because he was in a bad position for them to get the right measurements, but when the doctor came in he finally moved just right and gave us the pictures.

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? We found out we're having a healthy baby boy!  My son is so excited; he's wanted a brother since he knew we were having a baby.  I had a gut feeling that it was a boy from the beginning and my husband thought that it was a girl, so I got to pick dinner out after our appointment because I was right. :)

How far along were you/will you be?
21w4d, FINALLY get to post on this thread ;)

    How did it go?
It was good! All organs accounted for, all internal, all appear to be normal. Baby is DEFINITELY a boy and he was moving all over the place. I think he was head-down, butt-down and sideways during the 20-minute appointment. The doctor got all of the pics she needs except the left hand. He simply refused to open his fist and show off his fingers but I'm just going to have to live with not being sure one hand has all 5 fingers for a while ;)

Did you learn anything new about you or baby?
I learned that baby is a chunker. He weighed in at 508g / 1lb2oz, about a week ahead of schedule, but still within normal range.

How did it go?It went really well! Baby is measuring a few days ahead and looks great. We found out that we are having another little girl!

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? I learned that I have an anterior placenta, but the doctor was concerned about the location of the placenta. It's really close to my c-section scar and he was worried that it might attach to the scar tissue (placenta accreta). If that happens, they might schedule my c-section at 36-37 weeks and there is a chance that they would need to do a hysterectomy after the delivery. In the meantime, I'm on pelvic rest and I'll get another ultrasound in 11 weeks.
  • @ball4768 Sending positive vibes your way. Hopefully that placenta doesn't attach there.

    Update:
Dr. called me yesterday to let me know the radiologist saw a soft marker called an Echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF) on my daughter's right ventricle of her heart. This is not a heart defect but could be an indicator of a chromosomal problem. I have done extensive research on this online and even gleaned some great info from TB. Basically since this was the only marker they found and everything else on her looked and measured great I have no need to worry myself into a panic.  I will be having another more detailed U/S next week which of course I will update all my gals on. I enjoy all the support on our board and am rooting for team October 2016!
    Thinking of you! @brzvice

How did it go? It went really well! We decided that we wouldn't find out the gender at the appointment, but instead found out with our families last night with reveal cupcakes. So the screens were off for most of the ultrasound.

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? We found out last night that it's a girl! We're thrilled and were surprised, as we'd both somehow guessed it was a boy. The doctor said they couldn't get a clear enough review of the heart, so I have to go back in two weeks for a follow up scan. She said it's really normal though, and from what she could see of the heart, nothing seemed abnormal. Everything else looks good. I think I've read here about a few other ladies having to go back for a repeat scan?

@MorganL925 yep, we have to go back too! We're going next Thursday (5 weeks after A/S) because baby was curled up so they couldn't see the bottom of his spine. Seems pretty common for the baby to not cooperate with all of the measurements. I'm excited to see little one again! Glad to hear everything else looked good for your babe!

How did it go? It went really great! Everything measured as it should and baby was really helpful by letting us get all our pics. I was kinda concerned that he was gonna be a little small because I just haven't had much of a appetite throughout this whole pregnancy but he's healthy 56th percentile!

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? Didn't learn anything new, it was just nice seeing him jump around. Boyfriend was stoked because he flashed us his little weiner and flexed his guns for us too lol
  • @MorganL925 I ahve to go back for a second AS with MFM this Tuesday, I am not upset about it because that means I get to look at LO again!
@mauishay that clarification made me laugh pretty hard.

  • I know I must be one of the last to have an a/s so here goes!

When is/was your scan? June 13

How far along were you/will you be? 20w1d

How did it go? It went okay. Baby wasn't really cooperating and I had to get up and move around four times. Everything the tech was able to capture looked normal, but in the end it just wasn't enough. My OB is sending me to a MFM for another ultrasound next week to finish measuring. Judging from the rest of your experiences it doesn't seem all that uncommon to have to go in for a part 2, so that's putting me at ease.

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? It's a girl! We are thrilled. My OB also mentioned that my amniotic fluid was on the low side, which may have been why baby wasn't able to move in a good position. She said the levels were still in the normal range, but of course it has me worried...

How did it go? Everything looks great, and they were able to get all of the measurements needed.

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? She currently weighs 12 ounces, and was punching me during the scan. It was nice to know that what I have been feeling is definitely the baby, and the us tech even felt it when she punched my placenta at one point. No other new news, but it was so great to see her again!

How did it go? It was a lot quicker than I thought it would be. The tech seems to have a ton of experience and she just clicked away, looking for what she needed to see and measuring every part. Everything is measuring normally and is going well. The baby weighs about a pound and is head down for now (who knows where she'll be in 19 weeks).

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? I'm having a girl! I had been keeping it to myself, but I really hoped she would be a girl and my gut said she was. I'm glad to add another check to the 'my gut is trustworthy' column.

  • Has anyone received their bill from the anatomy scan? We did today. $452 after insurance.. I called my insurance and the provider to double check and they said I must have really good coverage if my bill is ONLY $452. Whaa?!
  • @Sprinkels28 We haven't gotten the bill for the anatomy scan yet, but ended up paying $835.82 for the NT and another $161.28 for the radiologist to review it.  It was before we hit our deductible, but yeah, ultrasounds are pretty expensive.  (Looks like the anatomy scan may be slightly cheaper.  The bill for reading the report is $86, though the bill for the actual scan hasn't come in yet.)

    When is/was your scan?
    May 31st and a follow-up today, June 16th.

How far along were you/will you be? 21 weeks 3 days; 23 weeks 5 days

How did it go? Other than a stubborn baby who was in breech position the entire first scan, requiring me to come back for a follow-up, it went fine.  All is well.

Did you learn anything new about you or baby? He's a big one - 71st percentile.  I know babies grow at different paces, so I hope he doesn't keep growing at this rate - I'll never be able to push him out.

  • @Sprinkels28 yikes! The anatomy scan for us was around the same price (in the $400s I believe) but that was before insurance. We ended up only having a $40 copay thankfully. I'm just waiting for the big bill at the end though, we have to pay 10% of all of the dr visits and delivery fees.

As I understand mine (and has proven true so far) one copay (I think $40) covers all my prenatal care including any necessary scans (because they are done in the same office, I think). That meant dating scan, NT scan, anatomy scan - so I'm done, unless I have issues, and I hope I don't even though that means no more peeks at baby OR paying the amount for the elective scan they offer in the third trimester, which I don't know how much it is yet. I thought that was standard requirement under the current ACA insurance laws in the US. (Again, differences may be due to some folks having their scans somewhere other than in the doctor's office.)

  • We had our repeat scan today (23w6d). Last time, they couldn't see his kidneys and were concerned about a low-lying placenta, but they wanted to see if both would resolve with a little time (last one was at 18w). They did! Kidneys looked great, and she said the doctor will confirm at our next appointment, but it looked like the placenta was in a good position this time. He is definitely still a boy ;) That was the only thing he let us see. She tried to get us some 3D shots of his face for us, but he kept his arms up around his head the whole time. He is behind my belly button with his feet headed down, but there is still plenty of time for him to turn. He had hiccups and it was fun to watch his little belly with them. He is growing perfectly, and weighs 1 lb 9 oz right now!
  • @rozANDbenSINCE2001, guuuuuuuuurl!   Where've you been?  We've missed you!  Glad to see you back!

  • @annabenanna You are TOO kind!!! I've thought about you all often! Honestly, I was having some major physical and emotional issues with this pregnancy. I was so sick of feeling sick and I was having a hard time connecting with my pregnancy because of it. I just couldn't deal to tell the truth. Buuuuut I'm so happy to be back and you've truly made my night (after a rough day with my toddler!) so thank you! I hope you're doing well!!! I'm trying to catch up with everyone again and reading up on a lot of threads!

  • Anyone have to go back for a 3rd AS? I am plus size so I know that takes in a factor, but I am not huge!! Last time the baby was moving a lot but now they want me to go to perinatology, they said they haven't seen anything wrong just haven't seen what they wanted to see.
