@ball4768 I thought I was the only one stuck in this wasteland of a state! Did you see the heat index? 106! And I feel like I need a machete to cut through this humidity.
@AllyTheKid Nope, I'm right here with you (although I'm in the Tulsa area and I think you are closer to OKC, right?) I knew that it was going to be miserable being pregnant over the summer, but I thought this kind of weather would hold off until July at least. I'm not handling it gracefully either.
I, also, keep getting comments about not looking pregnant. Or my favorite "well yes, your belly is bigger, but your BOOBS!"
On that topic, I am an expert at hiding boobs and boob tape is great @annabenanna, but it is really irritating on sensitive skin, especially if it's humid. If you're anything like me (which you are probably not because you are a lucky golden person), you will have a boob tape markup for a week.
This is in no way a complaint - but holy baby-flipping batman! What happened to the 14 hour nap baby is supposed to be taking? Today has been a gymnastics fest all day in there! Perhaps it's due to the fact that I cannot seem to fill the pit that is my stomach and have snacked pretty much since I walked in the door.
Part of me starts to imagine it's an alien that's going to bust out...
Do you guys scrub your cast iron pots, pans, and skillets? I do, I can't help it, I NEED them to be clean, but my Aunt and my FI are both like "blah blah blah don't scrub it blah blah you're ruining it blah", and I'm just sitting here like "ya'll nasty".
@books&icecream; my boobs have grown so much too! The teacher at my barre class was like "omg your boobs!" I'm scared of what they will look like when baby is done with them.
@AllyTheKid I know what you mean by how gross it gets! I don't scrub them..... but what I do when I feel like "wiping it clean" doesn't get it clean enough is I boil water in it, then it feels cleaner that way when the gunk has boiled off.
@allythekid - I'm from the deep south and fancy myself an excellent cook. I NEVER wash my cast iron skillets. The magic of cast iron is in the "seasoning." When you wash it, you remove the seasoning.
If the seasoning remains in tact, nothing should stick to the pan, so all you have to do is wipe it out with a little oil on a paper towel. If for some reason something sticks, you scub it with coarse salt and then rub it down with a little oil and it's good to go!
This should probably be a FFFC but it's wednesday... I stopped on my way home and got a delicious greek salad with chicken for dinner. I was very impressed with my healthy choice and feeling great about myself until an hour later when I found myself RAVENOUS. DH came home and we just ordered a pizza. Whoops.

Ditto what @CopperBoom86 said. I'll rinse mine out with water but then dry it with a paper towel and spray it with some oil.
@LMNOBaby I said the exact same thing to DH last night. He moved all day long! And then at night when I laid in bed he went nuts and DH said he could feel the baby's movement in his arm that was next to me in bed lol I sleep on my side but angled down toward the bed some and the baby loves to kick the part of my belly touching the bed.
I'm so damn depressed right now. Between the hormonal roller coaster of pregnancy, my milk drying up and now we're going to be screening DS for autism I feel like I just can't do anything except cry and curl up in a ball.
@TurtleMomma big hugs. I'm sorry things are so rough right now, it's okay to cry and feel bad but I'm sure you are a great momma to your son and doing everything he needs.
My face probably looked something like this when my husband asked me tonight if I wanted to fly down south and meet up with him (he is working down there this weekend) and drive home with him. It's a 2 day drive and our kids are jerks to travel with. First thing that popped into my head was how the F by myself 6 months pregnant with 2 kids ages 2 &3.5 am I going to get all my crap checked in, make it through security, swap planes, keep them still on the 2 hour plane ride, and not either loose a child or loose my shit. Then drive with him for 2 days while the kids scream cause their bored. I think he has gone insane. You would think he was kidding, but nope dead serious he thought it would be fun!
@bnsmith85 I have no idea where you live, but the birth center that we're using actually has a class on how to introduce dogs and baby! Maybe there's something like that near you? Also, we recently hired a trainer for our dogs for various reasons through bark busters. It's a little pricey, but they have a "lifetime" training option where the trainer will come back whenever you need them. I'm not worried about our dogs with our baby, but I'm a little worried about how one of my dogs would react to other kids coming to the house. It's really nice to have some support and guidance and it's been super helpful so far!
@TurtleMomma I can totally relate, I've been crying like crazy lately! I try to just allow myself to feel sad for a little while, but then I'll force myself to do something fun or distracting to get out of it, like watch a funny show, listen to upbeat music, take a walk outside, etc. Hope you're feeling better today!

Thanks for the suggestion! We paid an arm and a leg for what sounds like the same training your dog had. He sits, lays down, goes to his place (all until released from that position), is an amazing off leash walker (stands right by your side in heel)... the whole nine yards. He's SO well behaved... Still hates kids. I told my husband, I would pay almost anything or go anywhere if there was someone who could help us with this. I always say we need Cesar Millan... like I genuinely believe he could fix the issue and am slightly sad about the fact that we don't live in CA so we could get help from him lol. That said... it would be a good idea to talk to our trainer about their tips for introduction. We know the basics from extensive research, but there's so many opinions out there about what to do and what not to do. Could be good to hear from the folks who trained him.
My belly button is so gross. It has always been an outie in an inny, if that makes sense. It got pretty bad last pregnancy, but somewhat recovered. Well, it's on FULL display now and I don't even like thinking about how much worse it's going to get. When I was getting ready for work this morning, my 2 yr. old kept pushing on it and laughing hysterically at the "little ball."
Last night, SO and I went on a "startup crawl" in downtown...and I apparently forgot I was pregnant because I was vain and wore high heels. By the end of the night and about 16 blocks later, I was in pain. Today I woke up, and feel like a train hit me.
@annabenanna my last apt (granted this IS Africa) my Dr looked at my shoes (regular sandal flats) and said (to my husband nonetheless) "very good, very good, we don't need these pregnant women walking around in those fancy high heeled shoes!"

@kmolleltz, your doctor would be friends with my mom. I was complaining to my mom this morning, and she ordered SO to put my high heels in the attic for now.... my rebuttal was: "but mom they're WEDGES! not even heels!"

The nurse at work told me to stop wearing my heels because "you're pregnant now." And yet, what am I wearing today? I'm not giving up my heels until my feet are too fat and swollen to jam them in.
I'm going to a wedding shower this weekend and H is making baklava! I'm so excited about this. He is a cook and his baklava is so perfectly delicious. He's making it tonight when he gets home from work. Hopefully my family will be able to resist a little so we don't show up with a super sparse dish. Or I could just get a smaller dish

I'm with you there @depineta! While I can, I'm gonna continue wearing heels. Probably will stop once they start looking like Kim K's feet did when she was pregnant in heels.
do baby kicks ever get not weird? I love them bc I know lil mama is doing well but my office is dead silent right now and it feels so weird bc it's even stronger than before
@bnsmith85 random fact: Ceasar Milan is banned from dog training in Germany because his methods are considered animal abuse and apparently some things he does are illegal here. Ironically, his show airs regularly.
@annabenanna@depineta I had refused to give up my heels, though often choosing the wedges over the actual stilletto versions, only cuz I'm already a bit clumsy... That is until I got home yesterday, pried my wedges off and realized my ankles had disappeared. Yup, just leg to foot, no indent between... It seriously freaked me out, my feet were so puffy!! I immediately put them up and this morning they look almost normal again. But, I opted for flat sandals today! I found a step stool to prop them up during the day while I sit at my desk, so I'm not completely giving up on at least my wedges yet...but I'm going to keep a pair of flip flops in my desk for when my feet turn into sausages and literally start to ooze out of my shoes. Pregnancy is SO fun.
@books&icecream that is a fun fact.... Gotta be honest, I'd probably still send my dog there if it meant he wouldn't try to eat my kid and I could keep him. We also use an ecollar with him (not all the time, just when he's in training mode)... so we're basically horrible pet parents to some people anyway. Why not add in some Cesar Millan training too lol
ETA: I obviously would never send my pet somewhere that I genuinely felt he was going to be abused. All of that was in jest
Y'all are awesome for wearing heels. I don't think I've put on heels since I got pregnant. And the wedges I wore last weekend just killed my feet. Flats, flats and more flats over here.

I'm still wearing heels on the weekends. My feet and ankles haven't started swelling yet, I haven't gained a ton of weight, and my balance hasn't changed, so for now it's really no different than before I got KU. I'm enjoying it while I can!
