@PootsDragon@stellaluna14 I am pretty much also in the "I should have to do nothing" phase, as I feel too pregnant to function. Unfortunately, I am still expected to do things, especially at work, and I like to feel bad for myself sometimes as the poor, fragile pregnant woman.
On the topic of gifts: I wish my MIL and FIL felt the same as yalls rules. They gave my 2 year old niece a tablet that was meant for 6 yrs and older. I was so upset. The poor child is addicted to YouTube videos of those people opening eggs.
@setosh my little sisters grandparents sent her a tablet for Christmas when she was 18 months old. My dad grabbed that thing immediately and put it in a cabinet, gave her the wrapping paper to play with, she never knew the difference.
@stellaluna14 ha! Well her mother isn't necessarily the best so she resorts to using the tablet as the acting babysitter. She turns 3 next month. I can't wait to see what she gets next. Maybe a cell phone?!
Agreed. Your child will not feel special or be seen as special if you do this! they will constantly have to correct people to how to say it, they will most likely get teased and when they grow up and have to apply for grown up jobs they will have a difficult time being taken seriously
It is neither the name or the spelling that will make your child unique and special. It is YOUR CHILD who is unique and special. I named my first Joseph. Don't give a shit that millions upon millions of people all over the world have the same name (or equivalent). It's a simple and strong name. No one confuses it. He can spell it. It grows with him. And he is a spectacularly special and unique human being, despite having a remarkably UN-unique name.
My UO: The whole Santa/Easter bunny/tooth fairy etc crap is over rated. We are "those" parents. We celebrate all holidays but refuse to incorporate those entities in them. My 4 (almost 5) year old doesn't believe in any it, but doesn't ruin it for others, like when her cousins talk about Santa. New LO will be no different. DH's family gets really p*ssed off that we refuse to participate in those traditions, so they can't play it up (say Santa left stuff there/reindeer prints/planting jellybeans that grow into lollipops etc). I could not care any less...
Oh that's a good UO @joberkiser! I was "that" kid growing up. My parents refused to lie to us. DH and I plan on being "those" parents too and telling LO age-appropriate(ish) versions of the truth about all things. I will tell him what other kids believe and why, but I don't really care if he "ruins" Santa for other kids. If people want to lie to their kids it's not my kid's job to keep up the farce.
Tired of people who freak out if their precious baby Jesus is not fed all organic or "natural" baby foods. Pretty sure most of us ate packaged baby food and jell-o at some point in our lives and we turned out ok.

I feel like the bump should close off bmbs at a certain point from letting people join. It is really not great for the community for random people to come in demand support, stir the pot and yet have never contributed or supported any of the ladies here. It makes it incredibly hard to want to be open and honest when complete strangers and come in and hijak the board.
