  • Hi @anix86, welcome to the board!

@wifeinraleigh28  I'm a huge fan of mozzarella and provolone... then there's saganaki -- a salty greek cheese that is served on fire!

    Fun questions!
    I live in PA.
    I work as a pediatrician.
I met my DH at a frat party too, @Monica54321.  It was a fateful evening that feels like a movie in my head.  Swoon!  There was definitely Boonesfarm involved in our early relationship too.  Haha

I need to check out the what's IVF like thread.  It feels good to be open to embracing the process.   What will be will be.
  • @monica54321 I guess I am waiting on AF. Most likely not this AF, but the following AF. And a few more pay checks before we can start IUI. But this sounds fun.

    1. I'm from Upper Michigan but we are currently living in Eastern Wisconsin
    2. I am a nursing assistant at an assisted living.
    3. DH and I met back in Michigan 2 and a half years ago when I was taking care of his best friends grandpa doing home health care. It was love at first sight and we were taking marriage and babies 3 months in.

@jamieh2000 What part of WI are you from? If you don't mind me asking? I haven't met anyone from WI yet on here and was curious if anyone else was going to the same fertility clinic as me. I'm going to Froedtert in Milwaukee. (Well, technically it's Menominee Falls)
  • @jamieh2000 you add a signature by clicking on account options (the little person in the top right corner of the page). Then you'll see a list of options on the left side and one of them should be signature settings.

    1) I live in Baltimore - born and raised.
    2) I'm a substance abuse nurse. Some days it can be rough. I'm sure some of you have read my stories about heroin users that come in pregnant :confounded: But there are many that we help, so I guess it's worth it.
    3) DH and I went to the same high school. He graduated in 2001, and I in 2003. It wasn't until after I graduated that we started dating. There was also a significant amount of alcohol involved  We've now been together 13 years and celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary in October

  • Unfortunately AF arrived yesterday evening, a couple of days early. That also means we'll probably still be on vacation for my next ovulation, so we'll do TI instead, if need be. I hadn't 100% decided if I wanted to do anymore IUIs while waiting for IVF consultation in July anyway. At least I'll get a 1 cycle break from the aweful post IUI pain I've experienced in the past.

Hi ladies! Can I join you? My first IUI will be in a couple weeks- technically June. When my RE told me this was the next step it was right around ovulation time for my last cycle. I secretly convinced myself I was going to be pregnant and wouldn't even need the IUI. Well, hello cramps. I can totally tell my period is coming in a few days. So...IUI time! I go in for folli check at the beginning of my cycle, start Femara, then folli check again at the end of the medicine, trigger shot, then IUI time! Anyone have any words of advice?
Best of luck to everyone. I am going to try and read through all these posts so I can get to know everyone's story better. I don't want to just come in here and ask for advice, would love for it to go both ways!
    Thanks ladies :)

Sigh, so minor freak out moments here. Started spotting on Sunday (one week post IUI), super light and only when I wipe, and still am. Minor cramps. I know it CAN be implantation bleeding but I feel like I just know it isn't (probably b/c it's brown and when I've had IB before it's been pink). My bigger concern is that would be a SUPER short luteal phase - like I need another issue lol. Did anyone experience this on Femara? My first two IUI's were with Clomid but we switched it this month b/c Clomid made me so sick. I've left a message with my RE's office to see if they can do anything (maybe re-test my progesterone to see if it has risen or dropped?) or if I just have to suck it up and hate going to the bathroom until AF arrives.

  • @JDW0325 Welcome! I'm sorry you have to be here with us :disappointed: But we're happy to have you! This is such a good support system. The biggest piece of advice is to be good to yourself and not stress out about the process (easier said than done). You just don't have much control over anything that's happening, which is exceptionally awful for me. So I try to distract myself and keep busy so that I don't think about it (as much). Some of the side effects for the medication sucks - that's not really advice, just preparation. Hope that helps! GL this cycle!

@byrneme IB can be brown also. Every pregnancy is different so this could be it, even if it was pink before! If you're not taking progesterone supplements I would ask for them if you're concerned. I don't have any experience with IB or with Femara, so I don't have any advice to give. But I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you!

  •  @byrneme maybe that is IB!  FX that it is!!!

@JDW0325 welcome to the thread!  words of advice - the biggest help for this stressful process that I have found so far is to find supportive people to surround yourself with -whether it be people from here, a support group around your house, the Beat Infertility Podcast to listen to at work, a therapist, or friends and family who you feel comfortable sharing with.  I have felt so alone in this in the past and the more I open up to other people in various ways, the better I am feeling.

    3) DH and I saw each other often out at bars in our early 20s as part of the same friend group but both of us were too shy to talk to each other! Years later we were "officially" set up by a friend and had our first date.  That was 5 years ago now!  We are celebrating our 2 year anniversary at the beginning of June.

Ode to my DH:  You really get an idea of how amazing the person you married is when you go through something like this.  I had no idea how supportive he would end up being when I saw him out at the bars with his friends and interpreted
    his shyness for dbaggyness!

Hey Ladies - Had my baseline u/s and bw yesterday. Started 7.5 mg Femara! Up from 2.5mg last cycle. FX this creates the size follies that we need. My IUI will likely be toward the end of the month - maybe even June depending on how I respond.

Thanks all! RE said basically to just chill and if AF doesn't arrive by day 35 to take a test. I'll be testing on Sunday though (I hope) - that's the end of my 2WW. As for progesterone, since I switched to Femara they wanted to wait a cycle. Last two bathroom stops have been clear (sorry TMI) so I have everything on me crossed!

  • Toby102008 - I live in the Milwaukee area as well! I had two coworkers go to Froedert in Men. Falls and both got good outcomes (1 after 4 FET and the other on their third cycle of IVF- and twins!). I am actually going to Milwaukee OBGYN. Its a small private practice right by Mayfair. My OBGYN recommended me to Dr. Schell actually. So far I have been pretty impressed. I got in within 4 weeks, and she began testing and a clomid challenge on my first visit. This is my third month with her (second IUI). If this doesn't work, we will likely move on to IVF this summer. I like that she is willing to be aggressive (as we have a fixed amount of insurance coverage). She is also very available- I have her cell and she texts me my results as soon as she gets them. She has also been accommodating with my IUI times (doing them at like 7:30am before work, since I work down in Racine). Do you like your Doctors? That was the other practice I considered potentially getting a second opinion at. I heard there was a IF support group through froedert that was open to anyone. Have you ever tried that?

CooCoo4U - Where you located in WI? If you are comfortable sharing.

Hang in there, and hopefully next time you are in the area visiting you will be pregnant or have a baby even! and remember, you are never alone with all of these ladies supporting you.

@Monica54321- So sorry to hear about the BFN :( I really hope you enjoy lots of drinks on your trip and are able to forget about all this for a little while at least. @jamieh2000. We actually live in Plymouth. Like 10 miles west of Sheboygan but my DH is working in Milwaukee. That's why we moved from Michigan. I'm seeing Dr. Jayme Bosler and I absolutely love her. She stayed late to do my HSG for me because I work until 2 and have an hour drive down there. She switched me to Letrozole instead of Clomid because I wasn't responding. I haven't started as I'm waiting for AF, but we think we need to wait one more cycle before we can go ahead with our first IUI. Our insurance covers nothing! :( I was seeing an OBGYN in Michigan who had me on the Clomid and TI but it wasn't working and he actually recommended Dr. Strawn at Frodtert. Then we moved to WI so I called and was able to get into Bosler right away. I am beyond happy with the environment there. It's so nice to walk into a place that specializes in this. (And not see a bunch of prego ladies every visit) If you ever decide on a second opinon I highly recommend them. They told me about the support group but I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet. I'm so emotional and hate crying in front of people that it would be really hard for me. It's easier sit home and cry alone while talking to people online I guess. I'm so excited to have met someone from the area though. Especially because I only have the people I met though work and they age amazing but don't get what I'm going through. Where are you with your second IUI? Good luck and stay strong. :)

@coocoo4u Another lady from Wisconsin. :) Were you seeing an RE when you lived here? If so do you mind sharing who and where?

Sorry to hear about AF @Monica54321 :( hoping your trip brings you relaxation and comfort!!  Safe travels!

@coocoo4u i always smile when I see you post! Know I think about you often and am keeping my fingers crossed for you!! How are you feeling??

good luck to everyone still in the TWW!! For all my Friday buddies--is anyone planning to POAS? I did this am with a FRER, bfn, so not looking good for me. I realize it's only 10dpo but I have a feeling I'm out. I will probably retest Thursday, at 12 dpo I have no reason to believe a FRER wouldn't be accurate.  We'll be taking June off due to crazy schedules.

Its so fun reading about everyone!! Afm:
    1) I live in Columbia, MD. Moved here for dh's job about a year and a half ago. Before then, we lived in Cleveland for a little more than 7 years.
    2) I'm a clinical social worker and I work in a private group practice as a therapist, mostly with teens and kids, but also with families and adults. Like @wifeinraleigh28 I specialize in working with children with challenging behaviors and in trauma work. I'm currently up for a promotion (to clinical supervisor, against a few of my co-workers) so if anyone wants to send out good thoughts for me, I would welcome it!! :)
    3) DH and I met the summer before we started college at a pre-orientation community service camp. We were best friends all through freshman year and started dating sophomore year. We just celebrated 7 yrs together and will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary this fall. He's an electrical engineer, and I feel we balance each other out pretty well. :)
  • Sorry for all the recent BFNs! Wishing all the best for your next cycle.

My IUI will be tomorrow morning. I have 4 mature follicles. My RE said if it was my first or second IUI he would consider canceling since I have so many, but since it's my 5th IUI and I've had no luck with several cycles of 1 or 2 mature ones that if I was comfortable we can just go for it because it my be my best chance for now. Crossing my fingers it works out!
  • sorry @monica54321. I hope you have a great trip though!

GL tomorrow @stars2016!! That is a lot of follies! I had 3 one cycle which I thought was a ton.

sorry for the bfn @srh18 :( it is still early though. FX for you. I may POAS on Friday which will be 10dpiui. I don't usually do it so early but we are headed to the lake this weekend and I don't want to drink if I am pregnant... obviously :)

This is fun and a way to distract that I'm STILL spotting. If AF is going to come I wish she'd just make her full appearance!!

    1) Where do you live? Des Moines, IA
    2) What's your career/profession? Marketing/Communications/Event Planning for a healthcare company
    3) How did you & DH (or partner) meet? We actually knew each other in college and HATED each other. Ran into one another at Wrigley Field a few years post graduation and, hey, it's always nice to have a familiar face in a city you are fairly new to so we went on a date. It was pretty apparent all those college perceptions were wrong :) we were married two years later.

  • @Monica54321 sorry to hear about AF showing up.  Take good care of yourself on your trip and hopefully you can put a little space between yourself and this difficult process for a little while.

@Stars2016 good luck tomorrow!  sounds like your RE has a good plan!  FX for you!!!

@srh18 you are brave.  I am too scared to POAS!  I am about 7 days past when the IUI would have been (we did TI) and I don't think I would be able to do it.  I will just wait to poas for when my beta would be next Wednesday.  I am feeling some of my pms symptoms right now though and it is making me feel - as my teenage clients sometimes say - "some kind of way"

@srh18 Sorry about your BFN this morning!  You're right though, 10dpo is still pretty early.  I'm holding out hope for you!  That's awesome, it looks like we're in very similar positions ;)  The private practice I work for is a small group as well, with 4 of us total.  Good luck on getting the clinical supervisor position!!

GL tomorrow @Stars2016!!  FX for a smooth and successful IUI!

    Sorry you're still spotting @byrneme, I hope it's a good sign!

According to the spreadsheet we've got an IUI today!  Good luck today @pmjb!!

AFM I'm 9dpiui I think.  I feel absolutely nothing anymore.  No cravings, no cramping, no bloaty-ness, NOTHING.  AF is due on Sunday but if she doesn't rear her ugly face I will POAS on Monday morning (which will be 14dpiui) with a FRER.  I hope we get our first BFP of the group in the next couple of days... we deserve it!!
