Re: May IUI

  • @Twomommies16  Wish I could do anything to make you feel better, so sorry to hear this. You sound so tough to get through the day with all those babies. Praying that this isn't the last chance and you can try again.

ADRIANAC1982 - Sorry to hear about the BFN. Glad you can get an IVF consult so soon! I am in the same boat, and knowing that IVF is my next option if this is a BFN somehow gives me comfort.

  • @Twomommies16 I am so sorry that this cycle did not work out for you.  My thoughts go out to you during this heartbreaking moment.  I am hoping that you find peace with this journey either coming to an end or deciding to go a different route.  Take care of yourself this weekend.  Cyber hugs to you.

@ADRIANAC1982 sorry to hear about your BFN.  Take care of yourself.  It's nice to have that IVF consult in the future to look forward to!

Thanks guys!  So Wednesday I will test.  My clinic does not have you come in for IUI/TI either.  I feel lucky for that.  I assumed that was how all clinics were - they should be!  I am feeling very crampy today.  The same way I feel every month before AF.  But maybe it's something else!  Here's hoping

  • freudianmamma - I know how you feel- I cant help but examine every little feeling! I wish I didn't have to go in for a beta with IUI, but since I am on progesterone, my RE wants to make sure I'm actually BFN since if you stop progesterone and you are pregnant (just not showing up on home test yet), it can cause a miscarriage. Of course once I get the BFN at home, I always want to stop the progesterone ASAP so I can my period. Hopefully Wed will be good news for both of us!

  • Thank you ladies for all your kind words.
  • @JamieH2000 I am on progesterone too!  I did not know that about the possible miscarriage if you stop taking the pills!  That is alarming.  Last month I was spotting on the progesterone towards the end and the last day of the pills had full-on AF.

  • freudianmamma - if you are spotting while still on the pills, I'm sure its fine to stop them. If you are ever done with the pills and still haven't started feeling AF at all, personally, I would just take one more test to make sure its negative. I'm sure my RE is just being very cautious, as she told me a story about one of her patients being mistaken about being pregnant. So she may just be scarred by that. Personally, I don't even start to feel anything related to AF until I stop progesterone and its takes me about 3 days after stopping it to get AF.  May not hurt to double check with your RE? but I'm sure 99% of time the home test is reliable (if you are using a good test and waiting 14 days post IUI).

  • @freudianmamma I wouldn't worry about this... home tests are extremely reliable at 14dpo.  And stopping progesterone if you are pregnant isn't automatically going to cause a miscarriage unless you have low progesterone levels to begin with.  A lot of REs put their patients on progesterone just as a precaution :)

  • I'm so sorry to hear about all the BFNs ladies. :( My heart breaks for you all. This all is such an emotional rollercoaster and every BFN is heartbreaking. AFM, I'm still waiting on AF. She's supposed to come Monday but if she doesn't I have to call Friday to be put on progesterone to induce her. We are really trying to save to do our first IUI this cycle, but I'm not getting my hopes up. We have so many bills due and I just don't think it'll happen. And my cycles are so long with having to induce AF, that it won't be until late July when the next one comes. I'm so anxious and don't want to wait anymore. I know IUI is no gauruntee, but it's something we've never tried before and I keep holding on to hope that it'll work. I'm thinking about you all. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting on your betas. Fingers crossed for the first BFP of the group.
  • @wifeinraleigh28 I'm loving your post for the sheer brutal honesty of it. May IUI does need a BFP badly. I am so sorry for your headache. I hope you feel better.

I started my meds (letrozole) on Thursday will go in for monitoring this week on Thursday. If all goes well,  hopefully we'll do an IUI on Saturday.

I'm so sorry ladies. This process is so draining and so full of emotional highs and lows.

I'm bummed but not surprised. I can't decide if it's better that I'm surrounded by people to keep my mind off it or worse bc I just want to lie in bed and feel sorry for myself. Ugh.

Hugs and more hugs to those with BFNs :'(:( . I POAS 5/19 it was negative. AF showed up full force Friday morning. Bummer but definetly no surprise being our first IUI, doctor even warned us. Going straight into our second round of IUI if RE approved. DH is on Clomid (half a tab) and RE suggested to try one IUI and wait a couple of months so that hopefully the Clomid will boost DH numbers before we try again. So I'm preparing for round two but may not be able to try again till fall :o Hoping the best for everyone here. Stay strong.
Is anyone else's DH on Clomid? His urologist recommended it and our RE agreed. Just curious.
    1) Where do you live? (whatever you're comfortable sharing) Los Angeles, CA

    2) What's your career/profession? Detention Services Officer = Juvenile Correctional Officer
    3) How did you & DH (or partner) meet? We have known each other since we were babies. His dad and my mom grew up together. We reconnected after 8 years of no contact. He was fininshing up his last two years of contract with the USMC, been together since then.
  • Hi everyone!  So sad to see about these BFNs.  It really is about time for there to be some good news.  Boo.

We had our IUI yesterday. I brought my husband's sample in and we didn't know I needed his ID and written permission to do so, but thank goodness for modern technology!  He sent them an email with the info and we were able to proceed but I was a little panicked at first.  Glad there's so many rules and policies in place to make sure it's the right sperm!!!

This cycle, I'm sort of "all in" on any sort of voodoo to make this work.  Full bladder and resting after IUI actually seems evidenced based from what I found, so I did that.   I got myself a pineapple and started making smoothies but that middle part sure is fibrous and yucky!  I'm taking it easy and doing yoga but no running.  Anyone else practicing any "voodoo"?

@Monica54321 Glad you're having such a great time in Prague and able to relax without thinking about IF!!

@msdee84 So sorry about your BFN :(  There are a few of us on here with DHs on clomid, mine included.  He's been taking it since December.  His sperm count definitely went up but that could have been from getting off his testosterone supplement.  I hope you see some improvement with your DH!

@lady_grey Congrats on your IUI yesterday!  I'm glad you were able to work things out with the specimen.  My clinic accepts my ID for my husband's sperm... lol.

AFM, today was our neighborhood pool's opening day, so DH and I went for a couple hours this afternoon.  It was so relaxing... I knitted while DH did watercolor, but being around all the kids made me a little sad.

2 days until testing for me, but AF is due tomorrow.
    ***BFP & Child Warning***

    Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
    IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs
IVF ER (July 2016) = 7 PGS normal embryos
    FET #1 (Sept 2016) = BFP! DD born 5/30/17
    FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN
    FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
  • Good luck @wifeinraleigh28 !  Fingers crossed for you to not be greeted by Aunt Flo.  She's the worst.  The pool sounds awesome!  It was a yucky rainy day here.  Glad you got to be outside for a bit.
  • Sorry for the BFNs ladies. Such a sucky start to the month. I hope the next round is a BFP for all of you!

@monica54321 I'm so jealous! I'm glad you've forgotten about all of this stuff and are able to relax!

@wifeinraleigh28 Fx for no AF for you! I wish we could open my pool!!! It has been raining like everyday for 3-4 weeks!!!! It does not make this journey any easier when it's so depressing outside all. the. time. Also.... I  your foul language

@lady_grey I hope the tww is fast and ends with a BFP!
I practice voodoo too! I hear Clomid makes your cervical mucous "hostile" and that robitussin corrects that. I started today since I finished the Clomid yesterday. No coffee. Pineapple for five days after IUI. Yoga everyday. Acupuncture once per week. I took 5 days off after this treatment to relax. This is the first time I won't be stressed with work and school. What's this about a full bladder?

My birthday is tomorrow but ive decided that I'm going to be super productive and get every little thing around my house done so after my IUI I can Netflix & chill for dayssssss!!!!! Also it kinda hurts my feelings that I'm 31 and still no baby, so I'm not really up for a celebration  Day 12 scan will be on Tuesday. IUI on Wednesday or Thursday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies!

Wishing you good luck & positive vibes, hoping for a BFP for you @wifeinraleigh28. Reassuring to know your DH had positive results with Clomid.
  • @wifeinraleigh28 I really hope AF doesn't make an appearance. My fingers are crossed for you!!

@NurseTMD85 happy birthday!! I like your post IUI plan :) it sounds very nice and relaxing.

@msdee84 I'm sorry about AF. I understand your dissapointment. Hugs to you

@lady_grey congrats on your IUI! I also plan on being all in and I'm all about the voodoo. I will hopefully have my IUI this next weekend. I plan on doing accupuncture, pineapple core, visualization exercises, and I'm cutting out all my high impact exercise during TWW. Also, in Chinese medicine it suggests during TWW to keep the body warm. So keeping the feet warm, drinking warm liquids, and warm foods. Basically making your uterus a nice warm spot. Also- in case I end up having my IUI on a workday, I plan on going home the rest of the day and relaxing so I don't go back to a stressful environment.

    2nd cycle on Letrozole 7.5 mg CD 3-11 + TI = BFN
3rd cycle on Letrozole but did our 2nd IUI on 07/01/16. 10 mg CD 3-11 + Ovidrel = BFN
Onto IVF! Started Lupron on 09/24. Added Gonal F and hcg injections 09/26...... Trigger 10/07. EggRetrieval 10/09. Starting PIO, Estrace, and Medrol 10/10/16. Transferred 2 "strong/beautiful" embryos 10/14/16. Beta 10/28/16 = 998 mIU/mL = BFP with one baby, but miscarried at 9w5d.
D&C on 12/06/17 and started taking BCPs 01/10/17 for the next IVF Cycle, which officially began stims on 02/18/17.
Fast Forward: we got 4 fertilized embryos from that cycle. Transferred one fresh, but it did not stick, so we have 3 frozen embryos currently. Went in to the fertility clinic in July to talk about a FET of one of those three frozen embryos, but a new fibroid was discovered, and I was not cleared to do the transfer until I had fibroid removal surgery.
08/11/17 had a mini-laparotomy / myomectomy to remove 6 fibroids, largest sized were the size of golf-balls! Once we were cleared to go about our normal lives (sex!) I got pregnant NATURALLY but it was a chemical pregnancy. The very next month we had another BFP and here we are now with a baby on the way! A TOTAL AND COMPLETE MIRACLE!

  • @NurseTMD85 happy birthday!!!!
At my office, they tell you not to empty your bladder before the IUI.  This is in contrast to the monitoring ultrasounds where they are like "get undressed from the waist down and empty your bladder".

On my IUI day I had a huge cup of tea and was dying in the waiting room because I remembered how they say don't empty your bladder.  And I found this article to support the practice: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/22070446/

So that helped me continue to hold it!!!  It says how full bladder straightens your uterus and seems to make it easier to insert the catheter, and also has a higher pregnancy rate.  Interesting!

@teamginger13 I hope you are having a fun weekend with your girlfriends despite the BFN.

@Monica54321 Prague sounds awesome, I have never been but people rave about it.  That's on my travel list for sure.  Plus you're getting massages?  So jel!!

I like your voodoo plan, @roxgibbons!  Acupuncture is something I haven't tried yet but I would be open to it!  The Chinese medicine stuff sounds cool- warm feet, warm food - I can get on board with that.  I also hadn't had an IUI since November so I was nervous too.  Good luck with your upcoming IUI!

  • I started spotting today, took a pregnancy test and it was negative.  Sorry to add another BFN to the group :(  DH is taking it especially hard and started bawling when I told him.  You know it's not going to work and it still hits you hard.  Good luck to the rest of the group!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 - I'm so sorry for your BFN. I was so hopeful you would be our first good news. I'm so glad you are moving on to IVF and are able to be in a  study. If this group has convinced me of anything it's that it's worth it to move on to IVF sooner than later. The extra cost and physical implications seem well worth it to have such better odds. I'll be thinking of you guys today. Hope you can do something you enjoy with your DH.
