Today I bought myself some travel sized toiletries to throw into my hospital bag and I started filling out all of my Aflac disability paperwork to bring to the hospital with me. So, I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious.
I went to the doctors today to go over the ultrasound last week (and because I'm weekly now) and since baby was already weighing about 6lb 10oz the doctor said he was hoping I go into labor on my own during 37-38 weeks... I had to stop him lol I was like That's Next Week!! My mind still hasn't fully grasped that yet. He said if not by 39 weeks he will do an ultrasound to see how big baby is and decide if he wants to induce. I'm sorry, but I was not expecting him to say next week.. I am in shock! $#!+ just got real.
So at the doctor checked me yesterday and I've already started to soften and he said my cervix is really thin. I'm 36w4d. DH keeps telling me that I'm not going to make it to June just because I'm carrying her so low and I'm already having lots of pressure.

The perinatologist officially gave notice to my work today that I am not to continue working unless I can not lift greater than 20 lbs, limit ambulation and only work a max of 8 hour shifts. Considering I'm a nurse in a surgical intensive care unit... All of those can not be accommodated as that's the definition of my job lol (we work 13 hour shifts, lifting "dead weight" patients since they are mostly ventilated and sedated) and I'm almost 95% on my feet for the entire shift). So as of today my FMLA-12 weeks of leave begins. Kinda bummed honestly... Considering it's going to shave off three weeks (at least- that is if she comes on her due date since I'm 37 weeks) off my time with her when she's here. But at least I can rest, get some house cleaning done and more freezer meals prepared. Can't believe we are at the finish line... Surreal.
I start my maternity leave on the 28th...and honestly I'm ready to not be at work. This will give me time to finish getting everything ready and not deal with shenanigans at work. Enjoy your time before baby! I am Looking forward to 6 months off!

Soooo jealous of your 6 months! I think I'd be happier if I wasn't losing three weeks of my total 12 off . I feel like it's just kinda wasted since the baby won't be here yet. But I know there is a lot I can do around the house and to prep.
Well I have been officially diagnosed with Pre E and I am on bed rest with a induction date of 5/22. Not happy that if my job does not agree to let me work from home I will have one week less with my baby girl but if its whats best for the both of us I guess I will get over it.
Just had my 37 week appointment. My OB typically does an US to check estimated weight, position and AF. OB said baby looks great, in the 77th percentile for growth. I'm still at 2cm (been there since week 35) but LOs head down and engaged. I'm hoping to hold out at least another 2 weeks since we still need to buy stuff!

If you don't mind me asking, Is there a reason your dr wants to induce because of baby's size? Do you have GD? I'm just curious because size doesn't equal maturity.

I don't have GD. He was just saying that since baby was already getting so big and they gain .5-1lb a week for the rest of the pregnancy, he was saying at this rate baby will be 10lbs or so at delivery and he doesn't want that. The father and I were both 10lb babies so I'm not surprised lol he said he would wait and see at 39 weeks how big he was measuring. He has told me since baby was measuring in the 60% back in March that he didn't want baby to get to 10lbs+

60 percentile isn't really that big. It's right above the average line and definitely not a reason to induce. Hopefully you won't go into labor at 37 weeks as you hope because that's a crucial 3 weeks your babies needs for his/her lungs to develop. Also to induce early based on a notoriously wrong test solely because of size has proven to be a bad move. I'd personally not trust a doctor who has said what yours has said. My child is measuring 3 weeks ahead consistently and I have GD and as long as everything continues to progress ok we won't plan an induction until after 39 weeks

I just rechecked my chart and baby is measuring in the 96th percentile and no word on induction due to size. This is even with GD
He was 60% back in March. But this month he was up to 72%. My doctor is a very established doctor with a very good history. He has been very good to me. I told him my birth plan and he plans on following it and supports my decisions. He just doesn't think 10lb+ is a healthy weight for baby.

I find this very scary. My baby shot from the 42nd percentile to the 67th in 8 weeks. Absolutely zero concerns and she's predicted to be a whopper. I too have GD and she has Down syndrome. Doubly high risk. There isn't even a mention of taking her early for her size. unless you have GD, 10lb is perfectly healthy, just big. Again, size does not equal maturity. Just because it's a big baby, doesn't mean the lungs are developed. And weight ultrasounds can be very inaccurate at this point in pregnancy, being 1-2 pounds off both ways. Im not so sure I would trust that Doctor.
Ultrasounds are notoriously unreliable for predicting weight. My son always measured over the 90th percentile. He was delivered TEN days late and only weighed 8 pounds. ACOG does NOT recommend early induction due to predicted size. I suspected there is something else going on if your doc is pushing for induction. Have they repeated your GD screen?

I agree with PPs that you should talk to your doctor more before agreeing to an induction. Ultrasounds are not at all accurate at predicting baby size. Does he have other information that makes him so sure your baby is too big? Inductions also increase the chances of a C-section, which is major abdominal surgery with it's own risks, especially if it's an emergency instead of scheduled one. If you weren't already going to have a scheduled C-section for other reasons, that's also something to think about. And those last weeks to matter for lung and brain development. Babies aren't just hanging out in there after 37 weeks for no reason. I would talk to your doctor more before agreeing to induce.
Yeah, I would not consent to an induction early based on a growth ultrasound. The one that I had done with my 2nd daughter at 38 weeks showed her at over 8 lbs; I was induced a full 3 weeks later at 41 weeks, and she was 7lb14oz at birth. She just happened to have a giant head and long legs, both of which factor heavily into the equation they use to estimate growth. Not to mention that 10 lbs, while big, is totally doable for most women. It is a rare circumstance that our bodies will grow a baby that is too big for us to deliver. It does happen, but not often.
There were no worries for GD. My results came back really good. And as far as other pregnancy symptoms, I have no swelling or other problems.
Interesting. Well good luck with whatever happens and keep us updated! I am really interested to hear the final decision, the rationale and the baby's actual birth weight. Wishing you an easy delivery and healthy baby.
I just looked at my ticker change. 3 weeks and 5 days until my EDD. Now when it said 4 weeks that still sounded so far away. Panic mode is in full effect.

I was at the Dr for my 36wk appointment - after this one I start to go weekly - and he said all looks good, baby's head is down, etc. and then he casually throws in " If your water breaks, call the hotline....' I'm sorry, what? My water breaks? I was just getting good at being pregnant and now you're talking to me about my water breaking? holy molies.
Just had an appointment at the OB. Besides the GBS culture (which clearly marks the end stages of pregnancy), OB couldn't feel where the head was supposed to be, so they did an ultrasound. Baby's head down alright, but he explained that he could only feel her neck because her head is already in my pelvis (which explains so much!). Logically, I know this has no real bearing on when I give birth, but to hear that freaked me out!
I just had to tell an old client who wanted me to take on a project that I could talk by phone but couldn't commit to an in-person meeting because I am 9 months pregnant.

My husband's cousin, who was due a week and a half before me, had her baby yesterday. Also, we finished all the baby classes, had our last meeting with the doula, and now the only thing baby related left to do is pack our bags and finish organizing in the nursery.

Just got back from the park with the kids and had three solid contractions during lunch. I didn't have contractions like that with either kid until my real labor was starting. A little too real
I keep realizing things like, my dogs won't need another bag of food until after I've delivered, and I will deliver before this bottle of prenatal vitamins is empty...things like that. I just finished my last full day of work yesterday, just half days until he comes. I plan to finish my hospital bag and put it in the car today.... it's all getting VERY real!
Had some contractions last night for a few hours but they didn't get any closer than 6 minutes apart. This morning while on the phone with my sister, I realized that while I knew my edd is the 5th, it's literally next Sunday. Like, a week and 2 days.
