Anatomy Scan Thread

A lot of us are getting this done in the next few weeks, and some may already have gotten them done.  Thought that it might be a good idea to have a thread to talk about our experiences.  So awesome that we are almost to the halfway mark! :)

When is/was your scan? 

How far along were you/will you be? 

How did it go?

Did you learn anything new about you or baby?

    yay @Julia70286 !!!  So awesome to hear!  Tell me, was it amazing?  How was it different from the 12 week NT scan?  Was the baby clearer and like looking more human? :)

Our 12 week one I was REALLY anxious since it was our first time back to the specialist's office since we had our loss, so the doctor was really thorough with explaining everything and he did the same this time. Unfortunately we weren't able to get a super clear 4D shot of the baby's face, but he does have the cutest button nose. Our 12 week scan was super clear! 
    Yawning!  OMG, that must have been so adorable!  I'm so glad that everything looks great @Julia70286 .  Mine is on May 14, and I can't wait for that date to get here already!!!

    My understanding is between 18-20 weeks. Mine is at 18 + 3.

    I had mine done Tuesday (16w1d).... I think it depends on your doc and/or risk level (I'm high risk because of multiples). I now see my high risk doc every two weeks until he changes it to once a week or more (I'm hoping that doesn't happen until the end) :).

    I'm high risk too. our appt is exactly 17 w next Thursday so maybe that'll be the right one lol. they didn't give us the info that it is the anatomy scan

    Does anyone else have Kaiser? I have Kaiser and the earliest they would schedule my scan is at 20 weeks. I have to wait 3 more weeks :( Also, did anyone else get asked if they need assistance on and off the bed? The lady that was scheduling my appointment asked me for my height and weight and then she proceeded to ask if I will need assistance getting on and off of the bed. ☹ I couldn't help but feel a tad bit offended haha.

    My scan is on the 19th may. I'll be 19+2. I can't wait...so excited. My 12 week scan was so clear..hoping this one will be too

    @kamroberts Assistance? What kind of assistance would you need that the nurse couldn't just give you a hand and she needs to know ahead of time?? I'm suddenly picturing 2 burly men that come in and lift you off...  I would have been offended, too!!

    My dr/hospital will not schedule before you are at least 20 weeks. I find it interesting so many people are going earlier than that.

    You get earlier scans with multiples and/or if you are high risk, @BoyMom44.

    My dr schedules the A/S between weeks 19 and 20, so of course I scheduled mine for 19+0, clearly I have no patience  :# I go Thursday!

    I don't know if my OB has a policy on when she schedules them. I asusmed it was between 18-20 weeks but I don't know. At my last appointment at 13 +3 she said to schedule my next one for 5 weeks out instead of 4 so they could do the AS. Mine is 5/24 and it can't get here soon enough! 

    ETA: I'm not high risk and I'm only carrying one, just for reference.

    @nlane0723 I get high risk but it seems like a lot of people are getting standard anatomy scans prior to the 20 week mark.

    I'm over 35 and I get my Level 2 scan on the 26th and I'll be 18 weeks.

    Mine is next Thursday. I'll be 18+3 per gestational age, but 19+3 based off LMP. I'm not sure which they used to determine my scheduling..

    My OB won't do an AS before 20 weeks unless it's high risk/reason for concern. Mine is scheduled for the 19th and I will be 20+5. Can't wait!!! :smiley:

    My a/s will be at 20w4d. I would think when they ask about assistance they mean if you have a physical condition (maybe like dwarfism, or a disability that requires the use of a wheelchair, etc) that may require staff assistance helping you onto a raised exam table, for staff scheduling purposes? Not sure because my MFM office has adjustable tables but maybe it would be an issue if they use the older ones

    I'm considered high risk too, and having my scan at Maternal Fetal Medicine...but I don't go until almost exactly 20 weeks. Every doctor is so different!

    I'm getting mine on 5/9 and I will be 19w1d They told me to bring a DVD so they can record it for me. So excited.

    I'm AMA and high risk for multiple reasons (not multiples) and they still schedule it for weeks 20-22.  I'm going at 20+1.  MoMs do go earlier as they tend not to make it the full 40 weeks and may go more often at some point in the 2nd trimester. They are a different kettle of fish (Love you MoMs!)

    I go June 16, at 22 weeks =( I called to try to get it moved up earlier, but the MFM folks are only at my doc once a week and didn't have anything soon. That feels like forever from now!

    Mine is next Thursday! Less than a week! I will be 18+5. They said to schedule between 18-20 weeks, and when I called to schedule and told her how many weeks I was, she suggested 5/12.

    Mine will be a 19w 3d so 18 more days away. I think the OBs in the office like to do it between 18-20 weeks but I'm a midwife patient and I get bumped over there for this appointment and have to take what I can get. It was that or almost 21 weeks. I heard her HB today (and 2 weeks ago and saw her 4 weeks and 8 weeks ago) so I'm being patient.

    With DS the OB had to send you out to the hospital and they only did them between 20w0d and 21w1d. 20w felt like a lifetime away the first time.

    Mine is Tuesday the 10th.. I will be 19+2.  My doctor ordered it for between 18-20 weeks.

    my mfm sees me Thursday but the nurse said its just a checkup at 17w. I see the ob 19+6. idk who is going to do it but show me my baby plz
