@Sporty1216 - I'm the same way! I've resorted to sleeping on the couch until my giant pregnancy pillow gets here so that I can't roll over onto my back. I haven't slept well in a few weeks and I'm just exhausted!!
I'm a little scared to "bond" with my baby. I can't help but think "what if this little one doesn't make it?" I know that is not the most rational or healthy way to go about it and as of now I have nothing to worry about or be concerned about, but that fear is always there.
@JennM205 I love that song so much even as a non-country music lover. Not much gets to me like certain songs. It's crazy! So now I'm listening to it and getting weepy at work...

I end up rolling onto my back almost every night, and just roll again - I guess it's not a huge concern of mine. I always seem to wake up a good hour before my alarm, and will prop myself up with a few pillows so I'm not lying flat and spend that last hour getting some good rest on my back on purpose - to give my hips/shoulders a break

Should be easy to start reading to my baby via reading to my dog. I've been singing "baby beluga" (with her name instead of beluga) to her and playing "this little piggy" with her since she was a puppy. Maybe I've got this mothering/bonding thing in me after all.
You all are so cute with singing and talking and reading to your babies! I feel like a neglectful mom already. We have books at home that we've gotten already, DH doesn't know it yet, but he and I are definitely having story time with our baby tonight! I also realized after @BernieRaementioned 'Baby Beluga', that I really, REALLY, need to start relearning the nursery rhymes as I basically only know the brief one sentence melodies or in the above song instance, 'Baby Balooooga, Baby Baloooga....' and then I got nothing.
@PSUBecky23- yup. I'd certainly change my ways if I was having blood pressure issues or if it made me feel dizzy (suggesting that a lower amount of blood was making it back past my uterus, which is the main concern with the uterus resting on the inferior vena cava.. I think!)
@lovelylauren86Toddler is saying "Seriously mom? I climbed all the way up here to swing from the chandelier and you people stupidly hung it out of my reach!"

I have a lot of songs that get to me, I've always loved lyrics. I saw Amos Lee at a free concert and he sang "Sweetpea" and I was like Hey - I know that from cellphone commercials, I love that song. My dad and I danced to it at my wedding as our father/daughter dance, and I sing it to Emmett all the time. I love it so much!!
Ladies, this is ridiculous but can we talk about soda/caffeine for a moment? I've never been a coffee drinker but have gone spurts in my life where I've been a big soda drinker. I completely stopped drinking soda shortly before becoming pregnant just because I was eating healthy and didn't want the extra calories. I continued to avoid soda/caffeine through first tri but started drinking it again here and there in second tri. Well, now I'm back to my regular can a day...partly because I'm exhausted and need the pick-me-up and partly because I just darn want it!
But I've started to feel SOOOO guilty about it! A little bit because of the caffeine (even thought I know it's well within the suggested daily limits during pregnancy) but also because of the sugar and just not-so-goodness in general. Help me out here - anyone else regularly drinking soda? It's stupid for me to feel guilty about one can a day, right? Or should I really, truly cut back?
TIA for anyone who responds to this without disdain despite my obvious overthinking of something so simple. I just want to drink a damn Coke and not feel guilty about it!!
@JennM205 I still drink a fairly large cup of half-caf coffee about once a day. Or I might have a Diet Coke if I'm out at dinner and haven't had a coffee yet. In my opinion, as long as you're below the caffeine limit, there is no reason to feel more guilty about a soda than you would about a bowl of ice cream. Both are indulgent and full of sugar calories, but neither in moderation will cause a problem!
@JennM205 I started drinking a can of soda every morning at the beginning of 2nd tri when I was getting headaches. I've been trying to stop but I feel so tired without the caffeine!
@JennM205 - I grew up a as a major pop drinker,(3-4 servings per day) but haven't been drinking it much since I hit college (unless it had booze mixed in ). About 5ish years ago, I cut it out darn near completely - I'd have a glass or two as a cocktail mixer or very occasionally with a meal, but never really either a) wanted to spend the money on it and b) didn't really want it and c) became extremely health conscious.
But this pregnancy I want it all. the. time. I am just so sick of water and want something a little sweeter and bubbly. I know that cutting it out completely isn't much of an option for me right now (I just want it sooo badly) so I just make sure to limit myself to one can/glass per day and then focus on the water. In restaurants, I always order a glass of water first, drink as much of it as I can (I've been thirsty!) and then if I still want the pop, I let myself indulge. I figure everything within reason/moderation is okay, and a pop a day isn't going to hurt as long as you're maintaining a well-balanced diet. I also found that having a pop when I really crave it helps cut down my other cravings for sweets. I do try to limit my other sweets on the days I have pop, but I'll also say, I'm not always successful in that venture.
@JennM205- you are well within the limits and as for the other junk in there? It's soda. It's really not a big deal in my eyes... I have no issue drinking soda myself (and diet at that.. which might raise an eyebrow from others). People eat healthy, people eat junk.. and I promise you some of the unhealthy eaters have better overall health/longevity. Your body processes out food and a lot of how we manage things are based more on genetics than the food that we consume. Eat healthy in other ways and enjoy your soda. I'll be here snacking on chips or candy
@JennM205 - I've craved it on and off this pregnancy. I used to have a half diet coke, half coke fountain soda every day at lunch (I don't particularly like the taste of either by itself) and generally another one at night. I've cut back quite a bit but I still drink soda and I allow myself one cup of regular coffee a day (two if I can't muster the strength to do anything that day). I refuse to feel guilty though. I drink no where near what I used to as far as caffeine is concerned and most of what I drink anymore is water. You do you.
I probably get every last milligram of the 200 milligrams of caffeine that are allowed - whether it's coffee, iced tea or soda. And that's a huge decrease compared to what I drank before I got pregnant. I love coffee.
@JennM205 Congrats on being an aunt again and having your house to yourself! About pop, since 2nd tri hit, I have one most days, too. Sometimes I need caffeine, sometimes I crave it. I understand the guilt, but I also agree with the other ladies. I think it's one of those things where it's not a big deal, but mommy guilt makes it so much more.
I agree about certain songs bringing lots of tears during pregnancy, and I bawled the first time I heard '7 Years' as well. No one IRL has gotten that, so I'm glad I'm not the only one on here that has done it.
ETA Stupid Bump ate half my post. Not retyping it. The short of it is I'm team lay on your back if you feel okay with it, and I voted today.
I'm surprised as I've liked the song "7 Years" for many many months now and now hear it on a lot of the mainstream radio stations, so it has picked up quite a bit.. I've never felt emotional listening to it though. Perhaps I'm missing something..
@AnnaS930 I first heard it a month or two ago and they play it a lot, so it's not brand new to me. But still newer than most songs. The part that got me was when he gets to the 60 years old part. All of that.
Thank you all for responding - reading your posts makes me feel so justified! Logically, I know "everything in moderation" and that I've generally been good with my eating habits...but the guilt was getting real! (Stupid hormones...) I will be happily, whole-heartedly and un-guiltily be indulging in an ice-cold coke as soon as I finish my lunch!
@camichael84- I read an interview with the lead singer, Lukas, who said that he couldn't go beyond 60 because his father only lived to 61 (as mentioned in the song) so he can't project beyond that. I like the level of personal that he puts into the song, just not one that tugs at my heartstrings.
Same Love by Macklemore, on the other hand, I'm sure I've heard thousands of times and I cry every. single. time.

Yes! The 60 years old and hopefully my kids come visit once or twice a month part!? Kills me EVERY TIME!!!

I really like how the tone of the chorus changes as he goes from looking back to looking forward and how forceful it is at the end. It's a very interesting band, I'm not fully confident that any of their other songs will find popularity here in the US, but it will be interesting to wait and watch.
@mom2adoodle- thank you for the post in the sex thread, it was done in very good taste. I considered doing the same as I believe this is the 2nd post where she's been called out on that discussion going back to the old argument about efforts to try for a boy/girl and though fiorip is still active on some other board (I checked today when I saw her called out again) she doesn't need to be dragged back here if not interested/ready. Good work

@mom2adoodle This! And making fun of her grammar? Bullshit.
My moodiness is explained by my husband being away for a work training, leaving me alone with our three year old. He'll be back Thursday, just in time to work this weekend. At what time, he has no idea. He freaking left Saturday morning when there was nothing planned until Sunday. So they got there Saturday afternoon and got to go out drinking Saturday night. Must be nice.
@PSUBecky23Ugh, I feel for you! How has it been being alone with your DD? I'm sure it's exhausting (mentally and physically) but I hope you haven't had to deal with any major meltdowns or anything like that, on top of it all! My DH was supposed to go to Cali for work training last week (which would have been the only time he spent that long away from us) but it got cancelled. So even though I can't relate directly, I know the fear I felt when presented with the idea of being a solo parent for a week. We would have been fine. But it would have been tough.

ETA: Stuck in the box, but exactly what she said. Probably a bit too because I heard it for the first time driving home from my dad's 60th Birthday...

On the singing/talking to baby bit...at our birthing class before our first there was this over the top couple and I remember them mentioning the read/sing the abc's every day! to baby and my husband and I both looked at each other like uh....we are so far behind. I'll have you know my barely 2 year old knows all his letters and numbers and most of his colors, so take that over the top couple!
In all seriousness it's because he watches youtube...kids these days
