Re: Found a deal or know of free stuff? POST HERE!

  • @kellz14 YES it does!!! Thank you! I will be sure and do that. Kind of crazy, on their part. Given what's already been spent on my registry, and the $99 annual Prime cost, you'd think they'd give you a box for just one of those things!!
  • Loading the player...
  • @TiffRox81 Yeah I was surprised how many hoops they make you jump through when everyone else just gives you one for free when you start the registry!  Hopefully it's good, waiting for mine to arrive...
  • What comes in the Amazon box? Deciding if it's worth it.
  • @carolynpetite Mine's still on the way so I'm not sure. I think other ladies here have gotten it though. Apparently it's always changing though - Amazon has a description here: https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Family-Baby-Registry-Welcome/dp/B00N1NBOV2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
  • I would say that I don't think that it was really $35 worth of stuff. There were some coupons (half I could use and half were blah). A Kind bar. A coconut water. A Mam binky. I think a bottle, and a few tiny travel sized things of baby soap. Two diapers. Few other things. Nothing crazy exciting. It actually looked just like the pictures in the post that Jessica on March 17th, 2016 posted in the Amazon reviews (5th review down from the top).

I think that I liked the Target and BRU's ones better (but my BRU one was pretty rad compared to what some people were getting and posting pictures of in this thread).

  • I just got my amazon box the other day (after waiting forever and then realizing I had to actually order it haha) and it had a bottle, a mam pacifier, some prenatal vitamins, wipes, a diaper, a bunch of other samples, and a reeeeeally good granola bar. Honestly the hoops were worth jumping through just for that damn granola bar.
  • @PhoebeJune1984 I've been looking at the Brica car seat guardians. Can you still use the LATCH system with them, or are you forced to use the seat belt? I'm nervous about properly using the seat belt method to restrain the car seat.

You've peaked my interest; what kind of granola bar?  I need some new snacks to carry around with me during the day

  • @benten24 Yes, you can use the LATCH with it. The back of the seat cover goes in (is more narrow) in that area and gives space for the anchors. Carseats actually have a weight limit when it comes to their LATCH, so check with your carseat on what it is (they will give you an overall weight and that weight is the weight of the carseat and your child combined...not just the weight of your child). Anything after that weight limit, you have to use the car seatbelt when installing and no LATCH. I was really worried about when it came to using the seatbelt, not for myself, but for my parents and my IL's, because they are constantly putting the carseat in and taking it out, and I wanted to make sure that they were installing it properly. I ended up getting the Britax Clicktight (they have a couple of different Clicktight models), and it is (hands down) the easiest carseat I have ever installed (with a seatbelt), in all of my years of nannying and as a parent. It is as simple as lifting the seat, putting the seatbelt across (and clicking it in), and then pushing the lower part of the seat down. It has been tight in there every time, no matter who is installing it!

  • @benten24 Here is a video on how easy the car seatbelt install is with the Clicktight. We have the Frontier (so that is the one that I found on Youtube) but that is FF only. They have other models that are RF/FF convertibles as well. My friend had gotten one and was raving about how easy it was to install, and I just kept thinking "Yeah...heard that before!" until I actually went to BRU and put one in my car and installed it before buying for the grandparents. She was right, I was wrong. HAHA! https://youtu.be/a8rn_Q3gyLg

  • I thought the Amazon box was awesome. I got mine in February but it had a full package of wipes, diaper, J&J and Burt's bees baby wash, Aveeno lotion, prenatal vitamins, a pacifier, bottle, kind bar, coconut water, and some Burt's Bees renewal serum that I'll never use.

My target bag (registered there just for the swag) was much smaller and maybe contained $10 worth of items....bottle, pacifier, sample pack of wipes and breast pads, and a diaper.

The BRU bag only had a diaper in it. I was VERY disappointed especially since that's my main registry and have close to 100 items on it.

It was a KIND nuts and spices bar. The flavor was caramel, sea salt, almond. So good.
  • I love kind bars. I keep a bunch of them in my purse for emergency hunger attacks.

  • Thanks for the info on the Amazon box! For me personally I'm not sure it sounds worth the hoops!

  • This cheap (we paid about $3 at Home Depot) vent deflector has saved us so much money! I wish I knew about it when DD was first born. DH and I sleep with the heat turned down. However, I always worried about DD being warm enough so kept turning up the heat. The heat was going straight up into her curtains. Now the heat is deflected towards her bed and the middle of the room.

Last winter, we also bought this wall heater for DD's room to save money on our heating bill. It goes on in the night, so I don't worry about DD touching it. It works so well!  When it was on sale through woot.com we bought a 2nd one for this baby's room. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004FAMXL0/ref=mp_s_a_1_sc_2?qid=1461423987&sr=8-2-spell&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=ecno+wall+heater

  • @pandaferh this coupon was amazing! My mom was trying to buy a Chicco pack n play which was originally $199.99. It was 20% off online but the BRU website wouldn't let her use the additional friends and family coupon. She went in to the actual BRU store got the Chicco 20% discount and they let use the coupon as well. Her pack n play came out to $127.99.

I ended up buying in my stuff in person too since they were so lenient with the coupon.

    July16 JULY siggy challenge

  • Used this code from retailmenot for 20% off everything on our BRU order last night! FRIEND20
    Says it expires today.
  • I don't know if anyone else plans on cloth diapering, but cottonbabies.com has a sale going on until May 8th on bumgenius and flip diapers. I got a whole stash for 176.00. If you use the code parents you get a free AIO bumgenius diaper too. There are other things on sale too. Free shipping.
  • Has anyone had any success getting the shipping surcharge dropped from a BRU order? I want to order a changing table while they're running the 20% off coupon. It says free shipping on any order over $19 but there is a surcharge of $40 for "large/heavy" items. Not really free then is it!?
  • 20% off maxi dresses at pinkblush today.

Are you close enough that you can have it shipped to store? Usually those fees are waived if you have it sent to the store and then pick it up from there. Its kind of a pain but saves you the money. I have been doing that with some of my bigger Target items, they end up having good deals online (or offer gift cards that they don't offer if you buy in store), so I have to buy online. But then as soon as I type in my address, they add a chunk of shipping and handling and then state taxes. I have been buying online, but then shipping to the Target in a tax free state and then picking it up from there. I have only done three orders, but have saved over $90 in tax, and around $30 in shipping/handling. So that was worth it to me to drive the 10min to Target and pick it up.

  • @PhoebeJune1984 That's what I was hoping to do, but for some reason shipping to the store isn't available.  :/
  • FYI: Convertible Carseat: Britax Marathon G4.1 is $100 off at Walmart at least today - not sure how long the deal's running, but I'm doing it. $185 at Walmart, $233 on Amazon, or $285 at BRU. :)

  • Good find, @RideNRunMomma! You're right - their Britax prices are the cheapest I've seen. I think we're going to have to get our travel system there if it isn't a shower gift.
  • @elenabrent @noelietrex Baby Bjorne bouncers are on Zulilly today for $124 instead of $200. Also have carriers and other stuff discounted.

Skip Hop is also on Zulilly today with super discounted diaper bags!

  • Ralph Lauren is having an online sale for 15 percent off & applies to already discounted items. I love their baby boy rompers!

Old Navy in Canada has an up to 50% promo. Basically all of infant was 50% off (including some super cute Canada day stuff)
  • Yes I'll check @theshannondee thanks! :)
  • Not really a "deal" per se, but my cousin was telling me Pampers has a pretty awesome rewards program. If you buy any of their products, you can create an account, and log the items for points. I just checked out the site and there are some pretty cool toys you can then redeem the points for. They also work with Shutterfly and offer a lot of their items. Anyway, for what it's worth....if you plan to buy Pampers anyway, might as well get something for it!
  • Target has a deal this week where you get a $20 gift card on a $150 baby item purchase or a $40 gift card on a $250 baby item purchase. I'm guessing this could come in handy if anyone has been holding off on buying large items such as a crib, stroller, etc. They are also giving a $15 gift card with the purchase of a Munchkin Step Diaper Pail.
