@PoodleDoodleOoo I don't think it's crazy. You know your lifestyle, and if you think it will work, I'm sure it will. I don't know where you live, but keep in mind the time of year baby is due. I'm end of September which means it's starting to get cold here and less outside time anyway. We usually have summer weather through mid-September...then Jack Frost visits.
@runningisrad I'm so happy to hear that!! Keep relaxing and taking care of yourself. Hopefully all is good and you don't have to worry about this anymore!
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom I had some terrible gas pains this weekend too. We were out with friends on Saturday evening and I literally felt like a balloon that was about to burst. Nothing would come out and I felt like I was bobbing along like a giant blimp. One of my friends was like "Oh, I can see your bump!!" and all I did was smile, but I really wanted to just say it's just gas
Thanks for all the advice! We're in Minnesota and DH and I tend to go from our go go go kind of life to a super laid back homebody lifestyle once the cold weather hits - so I have a feeling long walking outings with our babe will be extremely minimal for the first 5 months or so. I really hate buying products with the knowledge that it will have a super short life span, so I wanted to avoid the frame stroller since they'd really only be usable for a few months at most.

I think you could get by without a stroller. I preferred babywearing in the infant phase. We still don't use our stroller very often.
Thank-you, everyone!!! I am soooo happy! I knew I would be happy either way and am honestly a little surprised at JUST how proud and happy I am over the news. Lol. My husband is over the moon and it is adorable. Plus, my cousin (who I am close with) is due with her first boy in May so I love the fact that our little guys can hopefully grow close like us. And both are mixed babies so they even have that in common.
As for names....we have a list with 2 strong favorites at the moment. It seems we are between Lachlan and Caleb. I used to always want Caleb but now I feel it is a little more common than I would like. And Lachlan just seems so cute and cool for when he is older. I am open to feedback I guess if anyone feels strongly one way or the other. I am absolutely not sharing names with family or friends outside of the bump though haha.
Have a great day, everyone!!!
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
We had a Chicco seat with both kiddos and the snap and go frame. I babywear a lot, but the snap and go is so handy for running errands when baby falls asleep in the car. It's easy to unfold/refold with one hand, and just plop the car seat in without ever waking up the baby, compared to taking them in and out of the carrier. We also have a Bob for walks, but didn't start using it until 4ish months.
@fireflygirl12 Really?? That is so interesting! I had never heard it until I was researching names. I am Scottish so that is another reason why I am drawn to it. Thanks for the heads up that it could be more common than I thought! Lol

@blondie080300- I love both of those options!! I would lean towards Lachlan as it's less heard of (typically.. I've never heard it before) but is still clearly a known name of another culture. I actually really like Caleb Lachlan, but not sure if you've got a middle name in mind/using one of significance!

I hadn't ever heard it when my first friend used it, so I was also a little surprised to hear it again with a different friend (they don't know each other). I don't think it necessarily means it's becoming more popular though, just coincidental for us. Likewise, we don't have a lot of the top 10 names in our friends or daycare, and they are super popular.
I think our daycare counterparts are quite anti-top 10. We do have 2 Wyatts and a Sawyer which are all popular, but also have a Ciro, a Titus, a Burke and an Ingrid.
You guys, I'm not a huge fan of pink in general, and pretty against gender stereotyping, but since finding out we're having a girl (after 2 boys), I've been buying ALL THE PINK things. Hellllp me.
@fireflygirl12- with my last pregnancy I bought mostly neutral things for my first boy. For this boy everything I've bought so far says "BUILT TOUGH" or something similar on it, and we are doing a trucks/construction themed nursery. Just go with it!

Morning, everyone! It's been a crazy one already, hence my "morning" post coming at nearly Noon. I just got caught up from a weekend of no bumping (the weather was WAAAY too nice not to enjoy!)
@runningisrad I'm happy to hear you're feeling better!
@blondie080300 I've never heard of Lachlan but I like it! I've also always liked Caleb and even with its growing popularity, I don't see it becoming insanely popular so you could totally still go with it! Congrats again on being Team Blue!
@camichael84 I love the bedding you chose; your nursery sounds like it's going to be super cute!! Post pics when it's done!! Also, DD is over 2.5 now...and still no poop in the tub incident! I remember my little sister pooping in the tub several times when we were kids so I've been waiting for it... Maybe Baby #2 will make up for Big Sister's lack of tub pooping...? (Gosh, I really hope not!!!)
@PSUBecky23 Hope your day has taken an upward turn!
@marajay6 Sorry to hear your little one was sick - and with such a high fever! How scary. Glad to hear he's doing better!
I had to run to Walmart on Saturday for brown sugar and bird seed (so random), and decided to buy some Certain-Dri antiperspirant while I was there (the kind of stuff that gives natural product users nightmares). I used it Sunday morning to get started and a bit last night.. can't remember who recommended but today is the driest my underarms have been this whole pregnancy. Hoping to get to a point where I can use it just a couple times a week (as I did maybe 10 years ago when I had prescription strength stuff).
@Sbrown721@AnnaS930 Yes, it has aluminum chloride as the active ingredient. It might have been me that recommended it a while ago, but either way it literally changed my life. That sounds really over dramatic, but I used to spot check shirts in the store for how dark they turn when wet, avoided anything that couldn't be layered, spent parties and dinners slumped in a chair so that I could hide the wet spots that showed up even if the rest of me was shivering. I don't have issues with that anymore, and I really only use Certain Dri every few months now.
The autocorrect on my phone is being an asshole. The words it chooses make NO SENSE and it keeps changing things that are spelled right to things that aren't even words. Argh.
@JennM205 I was hoping we had a non-tub pooper on our hands. Although, it might have been partly our fault. She normally does night baths and we were doing a morning bath shortly after breakfast. Prime pooping time for her. I just didn't expect it because we've done morning baths before without incident. You live and learn, I guess. I hope your baby #2 also doesn't do it, and you never have to deal with it. I also hope this was a one time thing for us and we never have to deal with again either. Haha.
@blondie080300 I'm going to be the odd one out and say I don't care for Lachlan, but I do like Caleb. (That first autocorrected to 'I do like cake'... which is true. ) I like Anna's suggestion of using Lachlan as a middle name. But if you love it and want to use it, ignore me!
@fireflygirl12 I don't think using pink for a girl is gender sterotyping. I love the color pink. So does my brother. My daughter owns so much pink stuff it isn't funny, but that is because it's my favorite color. I'm having DD2 this time, and I'm going more gender neutral on her room, but that's about it. Until they can tell me their favorite colors, they can wear mine.
@Jabreen- I thought it was you, but didn't want to tag someone and call them out (falsely or appropriately) for being an excessive sweater. It can be a really humiliating lifestyle. When I was a kid I remember my mom putting panty liners into the armpits of her overshirts, so I'm pretty sure it's a somewhat genetic issue that I'm dealing with. Mine is always more than an average person, but pregnancy sends it wild.. glad to have found this option again and willing to take the health concerns with it while using it minimally!
I've gotten about 4 things total done today. Trying to keep keep my brain busy while knowing that we'll be getting feedback from DS's doctor concerning his ADHD testing in a couple of hours just isn't working. Not to mention I had such a craptastic day at work on Friday that I'm having a really hard time focusing on anything work related. Seriously, I'm so annoyed with that place right now that I've been counting down the days until maternity leave for the past month AT LEAST.
@UnwritteN12- I was just thinking about how annoying all of the Patriots fans are going to be during Brady's suspension (whether they win or lose, it will be talked about non-stop), then I remembered I'll be on leave for a good chunk of football season! HAPPY DANCE!!!
@blondie080300 Congrats on a baby boy!!! I like Caleb Lachlan as well But I agree, there are a lot of Calebs around in my area so Lachlan would be more original.
Thanks, everyone for the tick advice/input. Glad to know I'm not the only one with a tick-dog. My pup is black and white like a cow so we call her "Moo Moo." She is now "Tick Moo." It makes me exited to think of what random nicknames baby boy will have. We already refer to him as Fin (short for Finley) but I am sure randomness will ensue once he's here.
In other news, I went to a meet the doulas night at my local birth center and LOVED IT. I am very excited to have someone help me out who knows what they're doing lol.
@blondie080300 There are a lot of Lachlans around where I live, but I say go for it if you like it! It's not a name where you're going to end up with 2 in every class.
@blondie080300 I have actually have only heard of one Caleb, who is my age, so maybe not as popular with people I know. Even if the name is actually popular if you love it go for it. I've never met a Lachlan, no strong like or dislike about it. I have not been able to like a name for longer than a week. I hope I find one that stays with me so this LO isn't named with my flavor of the week.
Opinions: Should I paint this aqua wall a different color for baby girl or leave it? Not sure I would be up for re-painting any of the other walls, so working with grey.
@fireflygirl12 I think it's a great color for a boy or a girl! But it depends on what else you want to do with the room/ color schemes. What other colors were you thinking? There are some nice pale pink pallets to go with grey. Not sure if that's an option for you.
@fireflygirl12 The blue aqua is one of favorite colors, if my LO is a girl I will have some either aqua or sky blue in our nursery. So for my love it I say keep it. But I like the idea of a different color that would be special for this LO.
I haven't decided on a theme yet, figured I would settle on paint first, and then buy sheets/accents to match. Right now there is an animal theme in there, which I could work with, but I kind of feel like switching it up.
@fireflygirl12 I like it. I've seen a lot of baby girl's bedding sets that have an aqua and pink and/or purple combo. So if you wanted to add more traditional girl colors without repainting it, you can. But it is also pretty and gender neutral as is.
@UnwritteN12, good luck with the news from your son's doctor. We went through the same thing last year with my son (who was ultimately diagnosed with ADHD, something I had known since he was 3) and I remember how very stressful it is. Let me know if you want to chat about it.
@fireflygirl12 I find myself in your exact same boat. I was always a tom boy, I never liked dolls, pink etc. But I have 2 boys and now we're having a girl and I've bought pink and purple. Part of it is I want people to be able to tell she is a girl. My first son was born with hair covering his ears, and even dressed in blue we would get "what a beautiful little girl!". Drove us nuts. The other part is everything is just so cute, I don't care if it's pink.
@AnnaS930 & @Jabreen I had the sweating issue too. It wasn't that I smelled bad, more or less I sweat a lot and I was so sick of wet marks in my shirts. I will say this shows your body is efficient and cooling itself, and healthy! I actually started making my own deodorant and I'm cured. It took a couple weeks for my body to adjust, but I really think it was in part caused by crap in store bought deodorant. I make it with Coconut oil, baking soda, corn startch, and essential oils. I melt it and pour it into an old deodorant container and let it cool and voila! I actually don't sweat much anymore and I swear this is why. I've run out and used store bought stuff and it makes me sweat again.
