  • @Jabreen that's really sweet he wants to honor your maiden name. My previous name is slightly horrendous and I wouldn't want it as my child's middle name- ever, so I can see where you're coming from as well. A lot can change between now and sept!
  • @abberson phewwww I was going to say, that's a LOT of children!! Still, it's really uncommon to know that many ppl who had sets of twins around the same time!
  • @SaraJuul I know I'm way late to this but I'm having twins and planning to deliver vaginally.  I believe if they are in the same sac they recommend a c section because of cord prolapse.  Mine are identical (share a placenta but separate sacs) and my doc is hoping for a vaginal birth, as am I.  He will deliver if twin A is head down or butt down, but not transverse or feet down.  B's position doesn't much matter.  I've also had a previous uncomplicated vaginal birth, I'm assuming that factors in as well.

I'm decluttering my house right now. Someone save me. We have so much crap. I felt like I had it handled but when you get going through cupboards and closets you realize how stuff piles up.
I used to keep so much stuff. Over the last year I just keep getting rid of things. If I haven't touched it in a year, and its not for holidays/special occasions or is sentimental it goes. I think part of it is because I want to move in the next year and don't want to take a bunch of junk with me!
This has been me that last few months. I finished school the middle of March and has spent my time slowly going through the house. It feels great but it's such a big job.

Morning all!!! Anatomy scan day here and it looks beautiful out!! Emmett fussed a few times last night and I was having a hard time sleeping anyways so I went and scooped him up and rocked him in the glider for a half hour. His warm little breath on me, his fist clasping my shirt, the smell of his hair.... I never wanted to put him back. ♡♡♡
My little one is about the same age as yours. I love this age! There are still so many cuddle moments, but their playfulness and watching them discover the world is so phenomenal. Hope the anatomy scan goes well for you!

  • So excited for you @AnnaS930!! Enjoy!

@AnnaS930 my SIL was pregnant when I had my loss and it hurt me that she purposely kept me and DH out of the loop of her pregnancy. They found out the sex a few of weeks after our MC and DH had to basically harass his brother to find out (he finally told him two weeks later). It was sad because I told her we really wanted to know and were still very happy for them and she dismissed me repeatedly and our family members would not tell us, thinking it would protect us. It added to the frustration and hurt feeling purposely left out as not everyone feels the same after a loss (she used the reasoning that she didn't want to know about anyone else's pregnancy after her loss). If she's being there for you, be there for her. If she wants to be involved and in the loop like a normal friend, let her. It can be hard feeling like the odd one out, especially after a loss. She sounds like a strong woman!

    ETA: happy A/S day!

  • Currently researching pediatricians... And I thought finding a vet was hard! ;)
When I had my first, I remember reading about how you should go and interview pediatricians.  I made this long list of questions and set up an appointment to meet with a pediatrician that was recommended to us.  Keep in mind that we live in a smaller town and this doctor was well-known with a good reputation.  I started in on all of my questions, including where she went to medical school and where she did her pediatrics residency....you could tell she was pissed!  I get it now, but I was a FTM and had no idea why she would be offended!
  • @Ssoccerball Honestly, as a STM, I don't see why your pediatrician would have been offended a FTM came in with a lot of questions, including her background. You'd think she would have been happy to share her experience with you. All the pediatricians around here do meet and greets as well. We loved the first one, so didn't check any others out, but she was great with answering all my questions and reassuring about my fears/worries. I didn't ask about her med school and residency, but the thought never crossed my mind. I also think the office's website has all that info on it, and I read it before calling them.

  • What a sweet friend @AnnaS930 I would be bawling as well!

@camichael84, I agree with you.  It seemed (and still seems) perfectly reasonable to me, in the abstract.  But that's why I mentioned that we live in a small town and everyone knows her and she has a good reputation.  When someone comes in questioning your credentials, I'm sure it is somewhat offputting.  I also have learned that it is quite uncommon for practices in our town to do meet and greets, so I'm sure it is something that she wasn't used to.  We chose her to be our pediatrician and she has always been accommodating and taken our concerns seriously, but I don't think she was that thrilled with the way we started off.

*Edited to add that I still think it's a good idea to interview pediatricians...I'm not advocating otherwise.  I was just stating that in our situation, I probably could have asked a few less questions that seemed to question her qualifications (as opposed to finding out about her practice).

  • @AnnaS930 Im so happy about your friend!
    and Yay anatomy day!

  • @Ssoccerball I'm sure it's different in a smaller town. I'm from a tiny town, and I can't imagine the two (three?) doctors there doing meet and greets or being used to being interviewed by potential patients. I live in a suburb of Indianapolis now, so there is a ton of options, and pediatricians have to compete with one another. Which is likely why they do the meet and greets. It's a nice option when you're trying to narrow down all the choices.

I live in a smaller town also, and I've never heard of doctors doing meet and greets. But I've also never been interested in interviewing one. My old pediatrician (from when I was a kid) is still practicing so I went to him at first. I shouldn't have. He remembers me, sometimes. But he never remembered my kids or talked TO them at all. He hardly touched them, except to examine them. The office he worked for was also frustrating. I called once with some questions for the doctor and the nurse said she'd call me back later. The next day nobody had called me back so I called there. All of my questions but one had been answered and written down, but nobody had bothered to call me. As for the question that hadn't been answered, I asked her if she could ask a doctor right then and she said "Well, all the doctors are at lunch, I can call you back." No thanks. I'll just google it. I switched doctors after that. Our new ped is awesome, he was highly recommended by my SIL. He either remembers my kids and their previous illnesses or he takes and reads detailed notes. He talks to the kids, holds the babies, and is willing to give my 4 year old hugs. One time I called with a question about a fever that one of my kids had. They said to call back in the morning if it didn't get better at all. It got better so I didn't call. Later that day, one of the nurses called me to make sure my daughter was okay.
I like knowing that if I bring my 11 month old in and am worried about an ear infection he will know that she's had two ear infections already, and what medicines we gave her.

edit: I also really liked the way he approached the situation when my youngest had mastitis when she was less than a month old. He hadn't seen very many cases in babies, and he told me that. He also took the time to read medical journals to try and find out more about it. So he was able to confirm that there aren't any future problems than can come from it.

  • @AnnaS930 YAS! Good luck today! And I'm so glad your friend reached out to you- she must really be a true friend. I don't blame you- I'm ready to cry just reading about it! <3 Let us know how you make out at the a/s!!!

@marikkita12 Aw I'm sorry hun- feel better! We all go through it <3 I purposely told my mom our a/s is the day after Mother's Day, when it's really a week form today lol! Otherwise she would stalk us and show up at the appointment! Plus this way I can surprise her with the baby's sex on Mother's Day :)

@Thurstobertay omg I would love to go without a bra but I could never pull it off! They're too damned big! I even have a stupid sleeping bra now! What is life?!? *sigh* pregnancy!

@sbrown721 I usually throw some cereal in a baggie to take- I like the Quaker oatmeal square cereal, life cereal, etc. There are recipes too for little egg cup things with veggies and bread that you can make in muffin tins ahead of time and take for breakfast all week. I've done that once- I am just not ever prepared enough! I also grab yogurts, granola, fruit, etc. I've been on an egg kick myself too- don't worry ;) My OB told me eggs were great for baby!

@mom2adoodle & @PoodleDoodleOoo I love that you guys have poodles/poodle mixes! I have a cockapoo, Romeo, who is going on 13 this year and still has the energy of a 2 year old dog, and is about 18 pounds. I keep telling DH that when something happens to our little fuzzy guy I'd like to get a slightly bigger version of him- like a labradoodle or something like that. He's allergic to dogs normally, so I'm lucky that mine is hypoallergenic or DH would never have gotten a second date lol! I took Romeo in as a "rescue" of sorts- he is so sweet, I'm so glad I did. Love love love the poodles and mixes! Such great dogs!

Bumps- I had a woman last week straight out ask me when I was due as well- granted she was offering free samples of some peanut butter ball something or other and I went right for them, and I was rocking maternity clothes that accentuated my bump. That was the first person who doesn't know me to say something. My cousin/BFF and mom both commented within the last week too- said I'm "finally" starting to show with a "small bump" - I'm over here feeling like I'm already blimp-ish, though I suppose if I can't see my stomach over these big stupid boobs, it's not that big yet. Or my body is just really good with proportion and making me appear smaller than I am. Who knows!

  • I bought a bunch of healthy food at the grocery store this morning in efforts of cleaning up my diet. Then when McKenna woke up from her nap, I took us to Arby's for lunch. Doh.

Also, spent the entire drive back bawling because "You'll be in My Heart" was playing on her Disney Now CD. The lyrics touched my mommy heart extra hard today.

  • @camichael84 - I get it. There are certain songs I can't listen to at this point because I'm super emotional. Phil Collins' "True Colors" is one I have a super hard time with right now.

  • @UnwritteN12 I love "True Colors"! Phil Collins version or Cyndi Lauper's. "Isn't She Lovely" always got me when I was pregnant for McKenna. I haven't heard it recently, but with another girl on the way, I can only imagine my reaction to it now.

  • @UnwritteN12 @camichael84 Kelly Clarkson Piece By Piece leaves me a blubbering mess every time... Some songs just hit you!!
  • @SarahMConnors The lone blue balloon is so sweet!!! Let's see if it means something or if it's just a random occurence. I secretly hope that it means something (aka boy) because I love things like that lol.
  • @camichael84 - I like Cyndi Lauper, but I'm a Phil Collins girl! OMG, "Isn't She Lovely"....I love that song! I'll go as far as to add "What a Wonderful World" too. <3

  • I kept telling my husband how I feel so much tinier this time around. Well I went back and looked at my MyChart records for my doc appointments and I'm about 7-8lb lighter than I was at this point with my other 2 pregnancies. This little girl is a lightweight! Whose to say I won't blimp out at the end...but I thought that was quite the difference.
