For those wanting to go off cable- we have an Apple TV upstairs with Netflix and Hulu (the Hulu is my moms account, so we don't pay for it) and HBO Go (which we also don't pay for because we told Comcast we didn't want it anymore and they gave it to us for free), upstairs we have a Wii with Netflix and Hulu. Hulu and HBO Go have said they don't care that people share their username and passwords to get free access. We pay about $60 for high speed internet and $8 for Netflix and that's it.
We just ditched cable and now have Play Station Vue. It's pretty awesome and only $30/month compared to $100+/month we were paying for Time Warner. It has all the sports channels DH needs.
We pay $250 a month (with internet) for TWC. It is sick. Tell me more about this Vue.
It doesnt look like it has NFL network. And GOD FORBID we miss a Thursday night football game
$250! Wowza. However, I understand with sports. The only other workaround is if you have family who has directv (it might work for other platforms) and if you can use their account to log in and live stream games. It might work for NFL network??
We had a directv dish on our house when we moved in and my in laws had an extra receiver for their account... turns out it works! So we have directv (that we barely ever watch... maybe the occasional football game), then we also share a Hulu and Netflix account with our in laws.
@yogahh TWC can suck it. There are 3 packages (we have the middle $30 one). 30 channels, 50 channels, or 75 channels. No DVR but basically all the shows are saved for a months time so you can go back and watch anything you want. ABC, Fox, & NBC are only on demand shows so you don't get the news. But we have an antenna hooked up to our tv so that we can still watch the news, Jeopordy, Ellen, etc. obviously you'll need a PS3 or PS4 so if you don't already have one that'll be an additional cost.
We we are so happy we switched and wished we would have done it a year ago.
@jomunson we do a similar thing-- we have high speed internet and phone service for $58/mo, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. We also stream event things like New Years Eve coverage from online so we don't really miss cable at all.
Is loss of depth perception a symptom of pregnancy?? In the past 3 weeks I demolished my precious rims on a curb when I was parking and scraped the side of my sister's car (and my own bumper, of course). WTF is wrong with me???!!

We use the Apple TV as well. It's great. I like the mirror feature where you can stream anything from your phone to your TV, too.
I can walk again!! I went to my chiro this afternoon...I didn't realise how much pain I had really been in the last few weeks. I've barely been able to lift my right leg this week. Should've gone weeks ago! I feel soooo much better. If baby isn't here next week I'm totally going again!

Apple TV is amazing! Ours was an older model too so it was $40. I like putting shows I find on up tv on there, or for those of your worried about giving up cable for sports, there are loads of live sports apps you could then mirror on your tv!
Random breast feeding lesson that I thought I should share with other FTMs. In another thread I mentioned that I tested out my electric pump. Well I was wearing a maxi dress when I tried and I thought I'd easily be able to access my boob out the neckline or arm hole. I even thought I could slide one arm out. Nothing worked. It was extremely awkward. So now I'm revisiting my wardrobe and wondering if we can afford me shopping for some breast feeding friendly basic clothing options. I thought I had clothes that would work but maybe not.
Confession: I am a serious slacker. I am 37+4 and still do not have anything packed for my hospital bag... I'm so screwed if I gave birth tomorrow. I hope these are not my famous last words.
@tgortney I had a huge bag packed with my first and didn't end up using most of it. If you live close to the hospital you can send your DH to retrieve things you need. My bag will not have near as much as last time
@VS2016 Yep! We live about 15 mins from the hospital and if anything, my parents can grab things for me too. I hate packing in general though. I never know what I need so I overpack then lug it all home and let it sit for a while before unpacking lol
I need a new TV show. Should my take away from todays random thoughts is I need to checkout Blacklist? What season is this on? Any other shows you can recommend. I hear Vinyl is good, but we are getting rid of HBO/showtime/etc to save money, and we dont have netflix/hulu and wont be getting them either.
We only watched Brooklyn nine-nine now and we loved it!! So good and really fun.
Vinyl is good - but can feel draggy. You have to commit to it.
If you haven't yet - Vikings is awesome!! It's a bit heavy sometimes, but I promise you the beautiful people will make up for it.
Billions is so good - in fact, this would be my first choice - Damian Lewis' acting is on point and his character, as well as most others, are well thought out. You should really give it a chance. Only on season 1 now.
ETA: Please keep in mind that I don't know where these shows plays (on which channels anycase) 'cause we can watch it on whatever. So I hope my answer was helpful and not stupid. Lol.
I am being discharged now from hospital. It's not preeclampsia (thank goodness) but my blood pressure did spike again, so will be put on blood pressure medicine and have to monitor daily. Doc is not too concerned, and I am seeing him again on Tuesday. Baby seems unfussed by everything (such a good boy). Thanks for all the thoughts and well-wishes.

I really should just tell her.... but, I'm having a good time chuckling still.
I just got a coupon book for Jersey Mikes, they opened a new one right by my house. I've been craving a flippin Jersey Mikes sandwich but I've made it this far and would feel really bad giving in this close to the end...WHY JERSEY MIKES, WHY?

My best friend's mom literally just posted this to 4 people's walls. I am crying from laughing!!
speaking of moons (but not pot), there's a full moon on Friday... I asked my nurse practitioner today whether it's an OWT that more babies are born on full moons and she said that it's actually true. we may be seeing more action on the birth announcements thread this weekend!

My hospital said the same thing. They are always packed around a full moon.

My hospital said the same and while I know that there is no statistical evidence to back it up, I can't get it out of my head as my LO's possible birthday. I'll be 39 weeks exactly that day...

I know someone else who posted this and I can't believe they thought it was true. Don't they research stuff first? Oh, I forgot.. it's on the internet so it must be true. lol

Diagnosis: Hypothalamic Amenorrhea
Treatment: Clomid: 50mg, 100mg, 150mg - not successful and not monitored
After discussing my Monday full of Braxton Hicks with the nurse I work with, she looked at me and said, "Maybe working until you're at 38 weeks is a little long." So I looked at my work schedule and managed to juggle everything around, spoke with my boss, and it looks like April 29th will be my last day! I am so looking forward to no alarm clock for a while.
I had an appointment a couple of weeks ago with a MFM specialist to check out baby's kidneys because the right one was measuring larger than it should be. Thankfully, the kidney checked out all right, but they noticed that one of the ventricle walls on his heart is thicker than it should be. The doctor said this was no cause for alarm, but he normally sees this on women that have gestational diabetes (and I do not) and wants to follow up. He wanted me to come back on 4 weeks so they could get another look at the heart. I made the next appointment for the late afternoon, hoping that DH (teacher) could come. Well, he says he has spring football practice that week, and it would be hard for him to miss. So, I asked if he could come if I changed it to a morning appointment, and he just kind of brushed me off, saying that it's state test week, and he really didn't need to miss class.
A couple of days ago, he randomly asks why I wanted him to come to that appointment, and I told him, "They're looking to see if something is wrong with our baby's heart. I don't really want to be there alone." (I mean, hello??) So this morning, DH texts and says that if I can get the appointment changed to the morning, he can come, but has to leave by a certain time. I wasn't optimistic because this place is super busy, but I was able to get a morning appt for the day after my original one. When I text DH to tell him, he says, "Nooo, not that day." I told him to just forget it because last time I was there, I waited forever to see the doctor, and he may have to leave before we even see him anyway.
But what I really wanted to say was, "Could you please make an effort to be there?" and now I'm fighting back tears at my desk. All because DH can't come to a doctor's appointment. Stupid hormones. I think it makes me mad because he's taking off the entire day this Friday to go on an annual fishing trip with his dad. Granted, this week he does not have football practice, nor is it the week his students have to take the state test, but I guess I feel like being irrational right now.
I just needed to get that rant out.

@bshurdy You are not being irrational at all! That is very inconsiderate of your husband. I understand having work obligations (I have to shift mine around all the time for these appointments, and I'm guessing you do, too.), but when there is something potentially wrong with the health of his child, he should make being at the doctor's appointment his top priority, and he shouldn't expect you to deal with it by yourself. FX that everything is okay with your LO.
So I was contemplating wearing a dress to my Drs appt to make it easier than having to get undressed and redressed with pants, then SO reminded me I still have to take my underwear off it's just so hard to bend to pull them up!

OMG the struggle! I had this same issue on Monday!
@bshurdy I would tell your H how you really feel. After we have had all of the heart issues with our LO, I would've had more of a meltdown if DH isn't there. Not saying that something will go terribly wrong like it did with me but he SHOULD be there to support you.
