Re: **The Everything Random Thread for May 2016**

  • @doozer1345 I've heard from three people, all of whom texted to let us know they were running late for whatever reason (two hours after the event was supposed to start),  none of whom actually RSVP'd. I just said that we'd sat there for an hour and a half and the bar needed their tables back if no one was gonna show so we took off. One of them apologized, one of them was annoyed that we didn't wait longer, and the third has yet to reply. I'm just like, whatever. They all had some sort of thing - work, church, and a family event - that they knew about ahead of time. It wouldn't have been that hard to let us know that they would be late if they came.

Gah, I'm just so furious. DH had so been looking forward to this.
    That sucks. I'm sorry.

  • @amberraysofdawn I am so sad for your husband! Those jerks.
  • Ugh. I just woke up from the nap DH and I were taking and I'm still raging.

@aquinna82 Yup. I had just explained to them the situation and that we had just gotten back home at that point, and the text I got back was "I just finished getting ready. Can't you wait a bit longer?" And I said no, we're not there anymore. "Well can you go back?" We live about 40 minutes away from where the bar is so....no. We weren't making the trek back after all that. I asked if we could just take a rain check to get together another time and got a text saying "well I had been looking forward to it and had made all this effort but I guess I can just do that instead" and at that point I was just kind of done.

I know that tone gets lost when you're texting and it's easy to read too much into the messages you're getting, especially if you're already in a bad mood to begin with, but I was just seriously PO'd at this point.

So mad on your behalf! That's just so freaking rude! And the audacity of that one guest, making it all about her? What a douche move.

At least now your husband won't feel bad about ditching them to hang out with baby?
  • @amberraysofdawn I am so sorry  for you and your DH! I can't believe no one showed and no one even bothered to RSVP! Jerks.

  • Urgh, ended up in the hospital due to high Blood Pressure. And this week is so hectic at work with deliverables so feel crappy about missing all that. Poor DH is so flustered and stressed, but will work from home whilst I am here so he is closer to us.

Dr is scared of preeclampsia, so doing all the tests for the next 48 hours - hopefully I can go home on Wednesday.

Not how I saw my week. But better safe than sorry!
  • Keep us posted @Charissadeats !!

  • I just interviewed a temp for my position during ML. Worst interview I have ever given, and I feel bad about it. Could barely think of anything to ask her, I am just so tired. The woman probably thinks I am an idiot.

  • FX for you @charissadeats - thinking of you!!
  • Thanks ladies! I think it's just precaution and I feel a bit silly for being here, but oh well.

The lady next to me is crying - I think there is something wrong with the baby and I don't know what to say to her. I think she just needs space for now.

And since I am in the labour ward, there are many babies - I haven't seen any yet but I can hear them! So exciting that that will be us in a few weeks :)
That is so sad :( T&P to the woman next to you as well!

  • @Charissadeats Fx for you!  And for the lady next to you, how sad.
  • @Charissadeats thinking of you!! Ask lots of
questions about what cutoffs will cause them to take action. Glad they are watching you!
  • Yeah pretty bummed out for her - I hope everything will be okay for her and baba. At least she's being taken care of!!
  • GBS test today...I know it will be no big deal at all ...I just want to get it over with.
  • @amberraysofdawn - that's possibly one of the rudest things I've ever heard. My DH is having a diaper party on Sunday and invited all of his in town friends and so far only 4 have RSVP'd. I just got done telling him his friends suck when it comes to stuff like this. But I hope it goes well and he doesn't come home disappointed either. Hope your DH is ok.

@Charissadeats - I hope everything goes well! T&P to the woman next to you.

The postpartum period is a bitch. I had days of serial breakdowns. I hope she comes through okay.
  • @dsmith211 I'm with you on the nap, work is dead but was busy this morning. I'm exhausted from my surge of cleaning and yard work this weekend. Plus I've been having BH since Saturday... I'm working 6 days 11 hours each this week it's going to be a struggle
  • Other than right here, I have posted exactly zero things on social media about being pregnant. I don't actually post anything to facebook ever, nobody else can post on my wall, and my Instagram is pretty much just my puppies. So then, when I'm almost 8 months pregnant, a good friend posts pictures of me from my shower on her FB page. I don't even look good in them at all, and more to the point, it's the first online documentation of me being pregnant on a platform where I didn't want to have any reference to my pregnancy. It didn't show up on my wall because I would have to approve it, and I asked her to take them down immediately and she nicely did, but we have like 100+ shared friends, so it could have been easily seen by a ton of people. It wasn't like the worst thing in the world, considering I know people use FB in different ways and some people just like to share everything, but it was really frustrating to keep my pregnancy separate from FB for 8 months but still have absolutely no control over other people putting it on blast to the entire world whenever they feel like it. This is more a complaint about FB in general than around my friend, but I wish she would have picked up on my lack of pregnancy on FB and not done that in the first place.

Her baby is still 'inside'. We are both listening to our babies' heartbeats at this moment, despite it being very late at night, but is oddly soothing.

Same thing happened to me. We have chosen not to announce on Facebook then a friend posted shower pics. In the end I said oh well. Then I realised I did the same thing to my friend last year too, not shower photos but photos none the less. Now I stop and think before I post. Stupid Facebook.
  • In regards to the FB posts, I really hope my SIL or MIL don't post anything about baby being born before I do.  I have no desire to post to FB the day he is born, but would like to wait until we are settled in at home.  We'll see how it goes!  If they take pics at the hospital or anything, I'll ask them not to share until I have.

I have this same fear! I could see my brother or any of my SILs and BILs announcing the baby's birth before we do out of excitement which would really upset me.
  • @js8812 @LadySamLady I have this fear too! Not of my family though, but a lady I go to church with! She posts everything on FB before anyone else is told. She announced my nephews birth before my BIL's family had been told, she announced my grandfathers death before we had told all of the extended family and I'm afraid she will do the same when she hears it from someone at church. I've discussed the privacy with her when we announced our pregnancy at church and reiterated not posting any news so I may have to talk to her again in a couple weeks or have my mother discuss it with her again.

Yep my fear is my MIL she is nuts about her social media . DH has to have a chat with her soon about respecting our wishes to not share anything until we have.
  • Had my weekly dr appt today, and she told me that with my bp, she strongly suggests I stop working at 39 weeks, and she will induce me at 40. So looking like 5/6 is my last day at work! At first, I was concerned but now just happy to have an end in sight. As long as she can confirm 150% that I will be induced by 5/15 if I don't go on my own, I am ok with this plan. My main concern is using a week of ML between last day of work to going into labor and not having that week with LO. But I have to think about the healthy of baby and myself, and if this is what the dr recommends, I should follow orders. I have an email out to HR to see what my options are in terms of STD or even using a week vacation so I can still have my full 12 weeks of ML.

I have my scan/NST on weds, and apparently will be meeting with the high risk doctor at that time to. I still am not experiencing any pre-e symptoms except for some major swelling today (hands, legs, backs of knees, feet, fingers and now armpits) which she seemed concerned about, but as long as I still don't have any headaches, blurred vision, etc, we are ruling out pre-e. Since it is hot today and my office a million degrees, the swelling could just be from heat. I honestly don't know if I am just being paranoid, but now I am questioning my vision. Or it could be that I just need a new eyeglass prescription.

Wasn't sure if this was random, a "labor watch" or symptom watch, so figured I would just toss this here.

And also, has anyone had experience/knows anyone with experience using acupuncture to induce labor? I am thinking that maybe that week off from work I would try it. Would rather go naturally if possible and avoid the piciton.

  • @yogahh I've been seeing my doctor's twice a week because they are worried I will eventually get pre-eclampsia. I've had moments where I have questioned my vision too. Just today I was picking up stuff under my kid's computer desk and when I stood up I was seeing a lot of stars. It took me a few minutes to calm down and realize it was probably just from moving quickly. The time is getting closer for me to deliver so I've noticed I've been getting more anxious about every little thing going on. And I have the run through of the pre-eclampsia signs given to me twice a week. Have you done any urine catches recently?

I did a protein test at 17 weeks, but nothing since then. No proteins in my urine at that time.
I do sometimes get floaters, but it happens more when I rub my eyes...
And now my nose and chin feel swollen. Again, it might be in my head. Might be because I am hot.
I monitor my BP at home. It is normally 130s/70s. But at dr office closer to 150s. So I still don't know either if I truly have high BP, or just white coat syndrome?

  • @swflJD me too and this will be my second child! Super excited but nervous!   All of us are getting close.  Most of you are much closer than me since I'm due the end of the month, but that is coming soon too!!
  • @yogahh one of my gfs did accupuncture with both and swears by it. She started on her due date with both and had her babes about 4 days later (2-3 sessions). Obviously this could just be correlational, but she had fairly quick and med-free L&Ds for both.

Maybe start at 39w?  Good luck!
  • Y'all I want nothing more than to use my foot massager tonight til my heart's content, but I'm probably supposed to avoid those sorts of things, right? It's just this Sharper Image thing you set your feet on, turn it on and the little balls rolls around uggghhhh it would feel like a dream.

But is that a no-no in third trimester?  :'(
