Much of my delivery was a blur, but I clearly remember after everything was over and they were wheeling me back to my room, when I saw my business for the first time in a very long time.
Ohh I just thought of something in regards to be above post! Try to write down notes from your L&D experience. Timing, how many cm's, how you're feeling, etc. It helps when you are trying to piece together those moments that seem like a blur. I still go back and read my notes every once in awhile.
Going by the rationalization that babies will be born this weekend because of full moon/Prince/Shakespear, I have to say I actually think Monday is the big day!
Are 8 pound babies really considered that big? My coworker was just telling about her neighbor that had an 8lb 5oz baby and "didn't have a c-section, but wished she did with that big baby!" I've also heard other comments along the same lines. DH and I both weighed around 8 and a half pounds when we were born, and people get all wide-eyed if I mention that. I know it's a little bigger than average, but I just don't consider an 8lb baby to be "huge."

@khochanadel- I did a blind shave on the under side of my upper leg this morning before my first pants-off OB appointment, and I was amazed at the hair that I saw coming off. I was going to save this for FFFC, but I felt so smug going into my appointment wearing shorts and seeing all the other pregnant women wearing pants. 36 weeks, and I made the effort.

Maybe 40 years ago? I don't think an 8lb baby is big at all. I would more than happy with that weight. It's the 9, 10, and 11 pounders that start to scare me a bit!

I hope not. That's DD's birthday and she would resent me for the rest of her life if she had to share her birthday!
I spent the day at labor and delivery. Had high blood pressure and vomiting at my appt this morning. Got some IV fluids, my blood pressure evened out and the baby participated in the BPP so I got to come home. I still don't feel great but am glad to be home. Figures I'd catch a bug! Very thankful it wasn't anything serious.
Dogs have a gestational period of around 2 months. Totes jealous.
ETA: I don't normally say "totes", but it seemed like it fit.
I was so worried about this recently. I have an English Bulldog that went into heat and this chi-weenie dog kept coming over and trying to get her knocked up and I thought maybe he did. I went and told the owners to keep their dog in their yard because I can't/won't keep my dog kenneled all day and that if my dog gets knocked up they are splitting the $1500 c-section cost. Anyways, she didn't get pregnant but if she did we would be due the same time and I would have a huge effing meltdown.

Yes, but they also have multiple puppies! A foster dog at my work just had ELEVEN. And if being pregnant with and then pushing out 11 babies isn't bad enough......just imagine nursing all of them.....nonstop....all day long. *shudder*
I've never seen a dog happier to go outside on a walk than that mama.

@TheThornBird true story. I'm glad there is only one in here and not 11! Plus, I think I would go broke buying breast pads and lanisoh for that many nipples. If dogs used breast pumps they would look like furry mutant jellyfish.
@JessicaB0627 I bought a watermelon on Sunday (a 26 lb watermelon!! For $5.50--WIN) and it was sooo good. I thought it was too early for a good watermelon, but I guess not. I always look for lines far apart, darker green in color, a yellow spot, and most importantly, insect tracks on the outside (the tiny bumps). We haven't had a bad melon in two years. My husband is so proud of his watermelon picking skills.

It's sooooo good! I am so happy! All of the melons were pretty small, but I got lucky and picked out a good one. DH and I cannot figure how to pick out melons, so I'll have to remember those tips! We usually spend 15 minutes sorting through them and end up with a bad one half the time. It's embarrassing.
SIL found out she's having a boy. She was so convinced and 99% sure she was having a girl, she bought baby girl clothes before she found out today! (WHAT THE HECK)
Why was she so convinced? She had a feeling it was a girl, morning sickness in first trimester, and high heart rate...

I just laughed so hard at this, wow. I really needed a good laugh.

I scheduled my prenatal massage for tomorrow and GOT starts Sunday so I'm hoping for a Monday baby too!
@bshurdy Dr. Google says average is 7.5 lbs, but I swear that number has gone down in the last year or two. Myself and both my siblings were about 8.5 lbs and I'm pretty sure that was considered average back then. It kind of seems like babies are getting smaller every year. Maybe now that full-term is considered 39 weeks rather than 37, that average will go back up.

That's weird. I was 8 lbs. 12 oz. My daughters were 9 lbs. and 9 lbs. 4 oz. 8 lbs. 5 oz. is healthy! On the larger side, sure, but not c-section worthy based on size alone!
@khochanadel. Stay strong- I've been thinking of you... Any idea on when y'all will get to go home?
I wish we could have a definitive timeline, but it all depends on how the babies progress. Probably 2 more weeks, but it's up to the babies. I have no idea how we'll make it work if one goes home before the other.
Does anyone have any recommendations for helping someone who is struggling with severe PPD (besides medication - the person I am thinking of is on meds for it, but they either haven't been in her system long enough or she needs to try something different because they aren't helping much at all)? As a FTM who hasn't even had her kid yet, I don't even know where to begin. If some of you more experienced mamas who've been there don't mind telling me what helped you, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm a FTM so I haven't experienced PPD before, but MH and I did a really great class put out by the Gottman Institute called "Bringing Baby Home". It's supposed to help significantly reduce PPD and focuses a lot on how to keep your relationship strong during such a stressful time, and what partners/husbands need to do to help out (since they can be a little clueless, lol). MH really enjoyed it, and I think it was helpful for him to hear from a neutral third party what he needs to do to pitch in.

Oh good gravy. I had a "feeling" I was having a boy, and all the OWT suggested boy as well. Thankfully I know it's all nonsense, so there were no surprises when the ultrasound tech said "it's a girl!"
I also found out my SIL's husband is an ass. She's pregnant with their first child but he has a child from a previous marriage. He told her this is the last one he's giving her.
UMMM EXCUSE YOU?!?
I feel so bad for her cause I know she wants more kids and my in laws want more grandkids.

@amberraysofdawnIf she does have severe PPD I hope she's in close contact with her doctor and they're actively working on a game plan. I have heard that it can take a couple of weeks for medicine to kick in, or it might be necessary to try a different drugs.
FWIW, here's what my doctor and I have discussed in case I have mild/moderate PPD again: estrogen creme, stopping or reducing breastfeeding (helps your hormones return to normal), fresh air/getting out, possible counseling. I have no idea if any of these would be effective at all for severe symptoms.
Best of luck to her; PPD is a beast and definitely not something to leave unchecked.
