@babyfmama Have you tried propping yourself up a little in bed? I know that tends to work with babies and young kids with reflux. Might be worth a shot!
The past two nights I've woken up in the middle of the night with intense reflux that wasn't there when I went to bed. And this is with taking prescription level Zantac. I really don't want to have to get on something stronger but I also can't imagine dealing with this for another 4 weeks.
Sometimes when it's really bad I'll take some liquid gaviscon before I lie down as well. The Zantac reduces the acid so its not as uncomfortable and burny but doesn't actually stop the refluxing itself. The gaviscon puts a "raft" over the contents of the stomach to stop it being pushed up the food pipe. I find it very handy when I can actually feel my stomach contents sitting high. Maybe give it a try??

I was taking Zantac 150 twice a day. I was still vomiting at night, so my OB switched me to Prilosec - and it's only once a day correct? I know it says it can take time to build up, but 4 days later and I am so sick at night?? Any ideas @ayeshaohara ?

Yeah the Prilosec is only once a day usually. You're vomiting from your heartburn??? That's not normal. You should be getting some decent relief from the Prilosec by now. You can try the gaviscon as I mentioned above with it as well. If you're really getting no relief in a couple of days I'd be contacting the OB again. They can give you something to help speed up the transit of food through your gut which can sometimes help...whether or not the OB agrees with me is another story though. Make sure you're not sleeping flat too, that'll only make it worse. Sorry I can't be of more help. Unfortunately it's just one of those horrible things that will disappear as soon as you deliver because the pressure on your stomach will be gone. I hope you're EDD is closer to the start of May so you don't have to deal with it too much longer!
It's 430 AM and I'm awake. It's my first day back to work after a month of bedrest. I'm wondering if this is a cross between anxiety for working my standing/walking heavy job with the restriction to "limit walking" and the fact that I napped with my sick husband today. We shall see.
@ayeshaohara - yeah it is completely out of control. The HB started around 20 weeks both times, and I was prescribed Zofran at 36 weeks with my first pregnancy. They have suggested taking it at night as of a couple weeks ago. It has been my worst pregnancy symptom both times, but I think the nausea is more pronounced this time. It went away the second I delivered though, so just gotta get through the next few weeeeeeeks!!!
@That1didntcount, try asking about Protonix. It's safe during pregnancy, but it requires a script. I used to take it in combination with Reglan for chronic IBS. So far, I've been able to survive the pregnancy heartburn with 2 Zantac per day, but I definitely relate to it causing vomiting. If I'm not on time with the Zantac then the heartburn will bring everything violently back up in record time.
woke up at 4 and feeling nauseous? I guess I'm not going back to sleep for now. My husband works nights so maybe I'll get up and wait for him to get home. Then I can try to catch up on sleep while snuggling with him
Why is DH snoring so loudly? And why is my usual game of constantly raising and lowering the ergonomic base on our mattress doing nothing? It actually seems to be making it worse!
Oh, and in other news, my mother has decided that she's not coming to the hospital for the birth. She's dropping off my grandparents and going to work. I'm just her only child and this may be her only grand child, but hey, why not take this moment to dig your heels in and not show up?
At this time tomorrow, I'll be getting ready to leave for the hospital. This wasn't supposed to be like this...
Andddd I'm awake. I'm not sure what time I fell asleep but I woke up almost vommiting and scared the crap out of DH. He's sleeping again and I'm awake.
It's amazing how little there is to do at night. I've been nauseous all night. Not sure what's going on. I haven't had a single bit of heartburn or acid reflux this whole pregnancy. Guess it's catching up to me? Ugh. I have work tomorrow. I'm already planning my nap.
LO witching hour. Why does he love to be awake at 3am? I don't even think it's the reflux waking me this time.
@nerdymama15 I think about that too and almost wore my wireless nursing bra to sleep for practice but then felt like being comfortable was higher priority.
Wide awake now after my heartburn woke me up... This is the part of pregnancy that makes the least sense to my, I'm completely exhausted during the day but can't go to bed super early since I have kids to take care of but am wide awake in the middle of the night for no reason when I know I have to get up in 2 hrs....
i can't wait to start leave in 3 weeks and naps become an option everyday
Was having a good nights rest for the first time in forever without waking up every 2 hours on the hour. Then my brain suddenly decided to only provide terrifying images of the grim reaper every time I close my eyes. WTF???? Well I'm definitely awake now.
I had been sleeping pretty well (only getting up once or twice to pee, easily fell back asleep) for the past 2-3 nights. I went to prenatal yoga last night, worked on stretching the hips...and now they're hurting and I've barely slept...I have a massage in the morning, and chiro innthe afternoon. FX that helps. Otherwise I'll just stop everything til baby gets here because clearly my hips are not happy being stretched?
My motto lately: when the going gets tough and you feel like crap because you're pregnant, say screw it all and take a nap instead. That's where I'm at currently!!
I guess I'm not sleeping tonight. baby boy is wayyy too active for me to get comfortable and i have this wicked bad leg cramp. Anyone have any suggestions for leg cramps? This has made sleeping, walking and sitting uncomfortable
^ idk about cramps, but I've had restless legs this pregnancy and I just read to put Vicks on the backs on knees and I'm not sure if it's just in my head- but it seems to be working. Worth a shot.
As for me... I feel like I'm going to vomit all over the place!!! Waahhh. I'm gsuessing it's the Mexican I had--ugh can't think about it.
ETA: yep, guacamole. That was pleasant coming back up...
About leg cramps I don't know if this will work for you but for me I eat a small banana before bed and upon waking. I also really push the water all day and also at night. I also sleep and/or sit with my feet propped up when possible. And also try to lotion my calves because that seems to help the knots in them. Also I found it seems to get better if I go barefoot around the house and wear crocs outside when I can, most shoes aren't working the best for me right now...
This helped a lot. I still sometimes get them but they are not near as bad and don't last long.
Heartburn if I sleep on my right side, weird hunger/nausea feeling if I try to sleep on my left. Sitting up isn't helping at all. I haven't slept at all yet tonight. Gah.
I can usually sleep at least half of the night on my left side, till my hip starts killing me and there is no way to shift my angle for relief. Tonight I was finally able to rest on my right without bile nesting in and erroding my esophagus, but an hour or so later, right leg pain. Great. Changed position and now the kid is up and kicking my spleen.
Anyone else up at night for toddler nightmares? The past two nights, DS has woken up scared, crying about every two hours. When I get him calmed down, all I can get from him is "saw, scared" and then naturally, he doesn't want me to leave him alone again. We've dealt with occasional nightmares before, but not in rapid succession or two nights in a row. We're both exhausted. I really hope this isn't a new normal for him; it sucks seeing him so upset.

I think 2 is a hard age for them. That's when DD really started having nightmares multiple times a week. I couldn't ever get much out of her either except like, "the fish scared me." She grew out of it after a little while and rarely has nightmares now.
Plagued by acid reflux at 38 weeks. I could cry it came on so quick and so strong, I've woken up the past two nights vomitting from the burn and now it's just a constant burn that has me scared to even try to sleep. Does anyone know if it's worth trying tums? I've never had heartburn before
Not sure why I'm up (third time this week- this is after I was bragging earlier this week how great I'm sleeping) but I'm starving and literally have zero food in the house. Came out on the couch and my cat is hogging it. She's too cute to move so I guess I'll just sit here and be hungry and awake while she snoozes.

I'll take anti-acids, eat flour tortillas (weird but it works), and drink milk. All have helped me to sleep through nightly HB.

I'm sitting here bored in the hospital. I'm mad at the bump bc I want to lost a birth story and the bump takes me to the baby is a size of a produce item when I try to click new discussion. I'm bored and want to post it on a new discussion. The short version without details is baby came into world at 34+2 on 4/15. Baby is in NICU and I'm in ICU with HELLP syndrome that was only discovered Friday. I'll put more details whenever the app starts working like it's supposed to. I'm super bored. There's not much to do from an ICU room. I only got to hold my baby once. I miss her so much. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Hoping they will let me go to a regular room tomorrow. The ICU is on the opposite side of the hospital from the NICU so I'm at the mercy of any nurse that is willing to take me and all the stuff I'm hooked to in a wheelchair. I posted a short post on the general announcement thread with a pic. Oh in my case the heartburn hair wives tale is true

Zantac! I feel your pain!
@nerdymama15 I'm sorry you have to be so far from your baby I hope you are free soon and all healed up!
Awake and watching The Ranch on Netflix. Baby girl has hiccups and is keeping us both up. It seems she's awake and moving more at night than during the day lately. I really hope that doesn't stick as her sleep schedule after she's born! DH mentioned today (in a worried tone) that the circles under my eyes are really dark. I attributed that to my messed up sleep schedule. I'm contemplating staying up the rest of tonight and wait for him to get back from work so we can sleep together all day. I always sleep better on the nights he doesn't have work and we actually get to sleep together.
We are having a plumbing issue and since the bathroom is out of commission until I don't know when I'm staying at my sisters (she is so sweet putting me up last minute) but if it was difficult to sleep in my own bed it's going to be a rough night away from home!!! I'm also really missing my husband who is home waiting for the late night plumber and taking care of or pets etc. this sucks!!!
