Week of 4/11 Randoms

Re: Week of 4/11 Randoms

  • @Weville ; Yeah, this happened around 22 weeks too, but it lasted only a day or two. I do think that the fact I AM feeling movement is good, even if it's not as strong. I just looked on  AmericanPregnancy.org and they said swishes and rolls do count as movement, so that's good. I have an appointment on Tuesday so I plan on bringing it up then. If I get really freaked out before then, though, I'll call the 24/7 line to see what they suggest.

  • @elldel my midwife said any movement counts and that as the baby grows, the movements will become less of the distinct kicks and more of the rolls etc. I wouldn't worry too much, but if it seems really different than I would call and check in and just see what they say. Some days my guy is all about the crazy hard jabs that jut out like an alien trying to fight his way out and some days it's less. I also think sometimes he's kicking toward the inside instead of outward and that feels a lot different too and isn't as distinct.

@Lindsayleigh1989 OH HELL NO. I would destroy him. My husband tried to steal my temperpedic body pillow while I was in the bathroom once and I just about strangled him. He never tried that BS again.
  • @Lindsayleigh1989 I hope you waited till he fell back asleep and then smacked him upside the head.

@elldel My guy was doing that till recently (I am 28w4d). I think as long as your feeling movement it's all good but if you're concerned I'd call and ask. There's no harm in double checking everything is okay
Ditto. It never hurts to call the doc. Maybe your little one has just gotten 'comfortable' in a new favorite position? I've noticed a 'change' in movements. I was getting dramatic, belly shaking rolls a week an a half ago, but last night she was feet down tap dancing on the bladder and cervix. It also felt like she was using one of my ribs as a monkey bar. Sometimes she gives me soft, sleepy taps, sometimes I've pissed her off and she's going Rowdy Rousey on my insides.
  • @elldel I agree with what everyone else has said. Definitely call your doc if you're very concerned but I've noticed changes in movement too. But like they all said too, any type of movement counts, not just the hard jabs. I'm a FTM but I've heard that as baby grows, there's less room to do like a swift kick or anything like that, so I think what I've been feeling is more like rolling or stretches. But that still counts!
  • I'm headed out this afternoon for a prenatal massage. I was super excited about it but now I'm nervous for some stupid reason. The idea of some stranger touching me isn't settling well today.

  • @samantha1206 Did you enjoy the massage? I'm fairly certain I would hate it. I do not like people touching me at all really. Even with DH I have to be expecting it ot it irritates me.

I really enjoyed it. The hour flew by and I felt amazing after. I'd totally do it again!

  • Does anyone have a list of about how many onesies/sleepers/etc you should have in each size?  Obviously, it'll kind of depend on how big your baby is and all that jazz. My baby shower is next weekend, so after that I want to have a list of what I have in each size to see if I should buy anything else.  I know a couple of you gals have started spreadsheets and other fun methods of organization. Anyone care to share?
  • @DominiqueU I made a spreadsheet of what we have so I can add to it as we get more. I wasn't sure how many of each thing to have but I figured approximately 10ish of each item in each size should be enough? I'm hoping to not have do laundry more than every other day and I like to live under the assumption that he will spit up, pee, or poop on several outfits a day sometimes.
  • @DominiqueU I'm assuming he'll be going through 3-5 outfits a day at first, and because we're cloth diapering we'll be doing laundry every other day. I'm keeping it light on the nb stuff in case he doesn't fit it, but I have 15-20 outfits in both 0-3 and 3-6. I have a 6-9 and 9+ stock pile but I want to see when he hits those clothes before I start worrying about count.

  • Yes, I'm totally unsure on how many baby outfits to have, too! I'm having a *virtual* shower .. So just a party for family that I will visit via FaceTime like I do for thanksgiving and Christmas. I've gotten some things sent to the house, but it's not a traditional shower so no diaper cakes and baby clothes out the wazoo. We're responsible for all of that stuff - which I'm happy about because some people just have horrible taste haha. We only have a couple newborn outfits. She's measuring small (she was at the a/s at least) so I'm thinking she'll probably fit in newborn for a little while. It's hard to tell how much you'll need!
  • We don't have that much newborn stuff either. Babe was measuring a little big at the a/s as well so we kept NB stuff light. I haven't been doing a great job of keeping track of what we got. I would love it if someone could share a spreadsheet with us because I probably should get organized now rather than later. Thank you!

  • I haven't bought any NB stuff, but have a decent amount of 0-3 and 3-6. I'm going to wait until after the shower to see what we'll still need, but I'm sure early on with it being so hot here, a onesie and pants and a swaddle blanket will be all I need while we're inside in the a/c.
  • @jlmartinez517 @Weville yeah, it's hot as balls here in July. And we keep our house pretty warm. I plan on keeping a sweater and some swaddles in the diaper bag for when we go to the places that are aggressive with their ac, but otherwise I am sort of expecting he won't wear much.

  • I'm still pissed at my husband so I'm being a little passive aggressive this morning. I'm currently sitting in the car eating a Krispy Kreme donut and drinking Dutch Bros waiting for BRU to open. I'm buying my damn car seat even though he wanted to wait and see if someone bought it off the registry. Sorry Charlie.
  • My OB thought DD would be about 9 lbs based on an u/s a few days before delivery. She was just barely 7 and fit in nb for at least a month. U/s predictions are not very accurate. I wouldn't buy a ton of nb, but you might want some so baby isn't drowning in a bigger size just in case.

  • My belly now touches the steering wheel when I drive. I swear last time I drove (Friday) I didn't have this issue. It wasn't the happiest part of my day
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @samantha1206 Is it possible to move it back at all (some steering wheels extend forward and back) or adjust your seat somehow? If you get into an accident that sounds pretty dangerous.

  • @samantha1206 I completely agree with @whataboutscience . Is there an option in your car to move the pedals forward and your seat back? DH drives tow truck for a living and there are far too many horror stories/things he's seen that I won't share.

I was able so lean the seat back a bit and it helped some. The pedals don't move tho. With my height there is only so I can do so that I can still have the visibility I need.

  • @samantha1206 - I suggest that you do your own research on this, as it's not the safest idea ever....BUT my sister is 4'8" and in some vehicles she's owned, she has had to put blocks on the pedals. When she was pregnant it was even worse. Again, I'm not recommending it, just sharing what's worked for another short girl. Many steering wheels also tilt up which might take some getting used to, but is a completely safe option.

I ended up having to tilt my seat back and the steering wheel up.  Hopefully it will help for a while.  After that I'll have to get creative.  If I move the wheel up anymore, it'll be too high.   I may have to get my hubby to start driving me around all the time ;)

  • We are cloth diapering, so I will be doing laundry every other day. Our plan is to keep clothes to a minimum. We decided that we would have 14 outfits in each size and 7 pairs of pj's. Once the weather cools down, (we live in ohio), I'll add plain white onsies for under clothes as well.  My daughter was 7.8 when she was born. She wore preemie clothes for 3 weeks and then newborn size for way longer than people ever talked about or told me. Everyone always just says to skip them. I was so happy to have NB clothes as she would have been swimming in 0-3. So we have nice stash of NB clothes for this little one.
  • @LDSJM123 14 outfits sounds like a ton to me! I'm admittedly pretty cheap though. We'll have more like 7-10 probably unless a bunch are gifted.

We are very frugal as well. Baby's clothes have either been bought at a consignment shop or on a really big sale (carter's last week had 70% off plus I was able to use an additional 20% off plus free shipping {as an example}). I'm just preparing for them to go through a couple outfits a day, keeping the diaper bag stocked with a couple, and there is a mix of "everyday" outfits and a few nicer ones for when we are out and about. @whataboutscience
  • @LDSJM123 DD probably did go through 5 outfits a day. I think I just accepted that I had to do laundry about every day and a half. Haha! With the blowouts she had, I ended up doing laundry more often sometimes anyway because I didn't want to let that sit.

  • I have 3 outfits. I am not planning on buying anything until after my shower (may 29th). I live in southern ca so it will be pretty damn hot from now until November, so my child will probably be in just a diaper much of the day ;)
