Lol @vs2016 student comments just make me shake my head sometimes. Today I had a student say, "You're looking SO pregnant today. Like, so pregnant that it looks like the baby could just fall out. Wait. Could that actually happen? Could the baby just fall out while you're teaching?!?" A few other students agreed, and shared the same concern. You'd think by 13 that they would know the baby won't just randomly fall out. :)
It really is amazing. She told me last week she thought I was going to explode so I just pretended I didn't hear her to maybe give her the hint that she shouldn't have said that.  No such luck! Lol!

@khochanadel yes it was there!!! She was like yeah I was about that big with my daughter (even though she said I was having a boy because of how I was carrying) and mind you her daughter is 36 years old, so I can't imagine she remembers what being pregnant is like or how big she actually was... I mean do they think we don't know we have grown since getting pregnant? That IS part of the process! I just don't get it no one asks random people if they overeat because they look out of shape? But it's ok to comment on an obviously pregnant woman's belly size?! Really... Come on ppl get it together!
  • Woman at church: Is it close?  (those were her EXACT words)

Me:  Um, no.  About 6 more weeks, at least.

Woman: Wow, that's a big baby.

Aaaand, we're done here.  I literally just turned around and walked away.

  • Got variations on the same theme THREE times yesterday when I took my grand outing hanging out with my feet up while DH waited in line for BBQ:
    • Your baby bump is so tiny FOR TWINS
    • You look great FOR TWINS
    • You look pretty comfortable FOR TWINS

Greeter at church yesterday morning: "I can see that you're, um.. *awkward pause*... in the family way. I have a story to share with you. I give tours at the blah blah museum, and one day this lady came in with her 2 toddler age children. She was obviously very, you know, *makes rounded belly gesture* and I asked her when she was due. She told me that she was due the next day! My heart started beating fast, and I told her, 'Ma'am, I am trained to do CPR and other basic medical functions, but I cannot not help you if you go into labor.' Then she told me that she had a scheduled c-section tomorrow morning. I was so relieved!"

So, apparently, a pregnant person (who has already been though it twice) should not be out in public anywhere near her due date for fear of having a museum tour guide deliver her baby. I'm not sure if he was implying that I shouldn't be coming to church anymore or..?
It's like people are mad that you've "put them" in a situation where they might need to deliver a baby. Our school bus driver kept telling me she didn't have a plan if I gave birth and she wouldn't listen when I said "you don't need to have a plan, I'll just go home".
  • Some lady today told me I was carrying too high and it would be at least 2 months before LO gets here... Umm no I have 4/5 weeks left 6 at most per my dr! Then she said I bet you wanted a boy didn't you and I said I honestly was ok either way we just want a healthy baby. And she continued to tell me why girls are better than boys and women that want boys are either lying or crazy... Umm I think you're the crazy one lady
  • A serious pregnancy pet peeve I have with people I know and strangers is when they say "are you sure?". Its like yes I am sure I am only pregnant with one baby, yes I am sure when my due date is etc. I am 100% sure on my pregnancy and the details, ugh so annoying.

I get this from old ladies because they really didn't know back when they had kids and they probably haven't kept up with changes in Ob care. But younger women? Cmon. You know the drill.
  • From my chiropractor today:

"Albertsons is going to kick you out because you look like you're stealing a watermelon!"
  • Not me, but a friend who's also due soon, and teaches high school:

"I can just tell when that baby is born you are going to SUFFER!"  Ah, teenagers.

  • I got "you don't look like you're due until August" and "you're huge - you sure it's not twins" yesterday at work. Within hours of each other.
  •  Had my baby shower Saturday. I was expecting a few comments but damn, I think family might be worse than strangers! I got the general ones, "you're so big!" '"are you sure it isn't twins?" etc. Then everyone decided that I absolutely was not going to make it to my due date due to my size and how I'm carrying her. But then there were some real gems too.
    • "Omg, you're so much bigger than you were with your first! Have you gained a lot more weight with this one? You look like it."
    • "I saw you walking in the door and I didn't know it was you at first. You just look so pregnant!"
    And my personal favorite:
    • "You'd better hope that's all water weight, because if that's all baby then she's going to tear you up down there coming out!" Gee. Thanks.
So f-ing rude. Nothing ends a conversation better than any of those ugly comments. When I get those I just say hmmm and walk away. Comments that are shitty do not deserve a response IMHO.
  • My husbands boss said to me yesterday "you're not big enough to be 8 months pregnant"

well I can assure you I definitely am!

If one more person tells me I'm not big enough I'm going to smack them across the head!
  • So I teach children's church once a month, and I had to tell the kids it would be my last week this past Sunday.

One of the kids asked "Are you going to the hospital?" I replied, "Yes, I'll have the baby in the hospital." He said "You know it's going to hurt a lot, right?"

    Thanks for that....  :D
Lol...just in case you didn't know...it might hurt a lot

Not a comment per se, but a 4th grade EBD (emotional/behavioral disorder) boy saw me in the in the school library, went "Oooh!", started towards me and made grabby hands at my belly.  Luckily I was able to take a step back from him, cover my belly with my arms and say "Nope!" and he kept walking.  Hopefully it doesn't happen again because he's not in the LMC much, but if it does I'm going to have to have a conversation with his assigned SPED teacher.

  • Not exactly a stranger, but today when I was picking up my takeout order from the Indian place, the counter guy wouldn't sell me any pakoras because "they're deep fried, it's no good for you." He recommended some other dish that would be healthier for the baby, but man, I just wanted some pakoras. :[
  • With my first pregnancy, when I was just around 10 weeks, my SIL tells me directly "you've gotten fatter and your nose is bigger". I am still fuming a little about it now!!! (Am now 34 weeks with number two). DH tried to tell me she meant it as a compliment (we are Chinese, she is from China) - I was like erm NOOOOOOO! Really?! Subsequently, she was massively water retained from being pregnant about 2 years later but I couldn't bring myself to say anything vaguely alluding to fatness to her....

AND, one time in that same pregnancy I was crossing the border from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, the Customs officer looks at my face, compares it to passport photo and says - are you sure this is you, you look much fatter. I snapped - I am PREGNANT! (Late second tri at that point). Ssighhhhh.

For the record I am reasonably petite and weighed 135 lbs at full term. Maybe that's considered giant in some places.....
Good job on holding back when she was pregnant! This reminds me of how my cousin, at Thanksgiving when I had JUST announced I was pregnant, tells me "I saw pictures of your birthday on facebook and THOUGHT you looked like you had gained weight!" My birthday is in August and was literally the day I found out I was pregnant. I was only a couple weeks at that point. But thanks! Why do people think its ok!? WHY!?
  • *after walking into dentists office*
Receptionist: You look like you're due any day now! Are you sure it's safe for you to be walking?!"
I assured her it is safe and I'm fine. Just when I thought the convo was over she follows with "please don't go into labor here!"
    ...I'm still baffled

Oh suuure like we pregnant women have the control to decide when we go into labor. People are such fools.
  • There is an older woman (50-ish) in my Pharmacy Tech class and she- literally- everyday has to tell me the story of how hot her water was when it broke and that I'm going to be buring up because "them waters just keep on a gushing". Also. She eyes my belly every morning while we wait to enter the lab and mentions how low the baby is and that I can't stay pregnant much longer.  Excuse me? You mean you're limiting my gestation time? She's been doing this for at least 2 weeks straight and I still have 6-8 weeks left!

  • Not a stranger, but it never fails, my BIL says, "wow you're looking very pregnant!" or "looks like you got a baby in there." Or something along those lines every time we see him. It's starting to drive me nuts.
