April FET buddies

Re: April FET buddies

  • Hi all! Hoping that I come back later today and read great beta news!

So I'm currently on 10 units of Lupron and 2 Mg of Estrace until Thursday, when they do a day 10 lining check and blood test.  On Thursday, they will tell me where to go from there and when they will do the transfer.  I guess my office does it very differently than some others,  b/c we don't even have a tentative transfer day at this point.   My RE had me on Lupron until my period began (which was day 12), and then brought me in for an evaluation. From there, they decreased the Lupron, added Estrace and then a Z Pack and started counting that part as Medication Day 1.  I'm going for an evaluation on Thursday for Medication Day 10.   Just a ball park question- from you ladies experience, how long were you on medication before transfer?

Also, did the Lupron and Estrace make any of you exhausted?  I have so little energy! I'm trying to keep biking and walking the dogs to keep moving, but sleep is calling my name more and more.  Thank goodness my husband is understanding and supportive!  I'm a little nervous on being this wiped out before even getting pregnant.  Any of you experiencing that? Any ideas on how to combat it?

  • @mela615 thinking of you today! Fx!!

@vssbrm Some of my family know every detail (mom, SIL), while others like my dad know we are going through IVF, but not where in the process we are at any given time. My brothers probably know something too, but we don't really chat about it. Not that they wouldn't be supportive, but just because it's exhausting for me to have to tell the same story over and over again.

  • @gatorlorit When I was on Lupron I had horrible headaches and swollen ankles/feet plus was exhausted. Once I went off of that I was better. The estrace doesn't seem to bother me as much. PIO on the other hand makes me have hot flashes and exhausted again. It's a never ending cycle ;) I would really encourage you to get more sleep! I still worked out, but for shorter periods of time and went to bed about 45 min earlier every night. Still am actually.

This FET I was on a long prep, so I was taking meds for about 6 weeks before transfer. My last FET was short prep (no Lupron) so I was only on meds for about 3 weeks. Good Luck!

  • halips - that's so nice that your family is coming into town!
@mela615 - fx for great Beta today. Hoping all of those symptoms point to a BFP!
WishingforLuck- hoping those symptoms mean BFP!

I can't decide if I am going to POAS before my beta... I'd like to think I'm going to wait but I'm not sure I can do it. Tomorrow's the day!!! I can't believe after all of this waiting it's finally here. I'm going to acupuncture in the morning before the procedure. Then I took tomorrow & Wed off to relax.

Anyone's RE tell them that they can't travel until after beta? I have to ask mine about whether or not I can be in a car for 6 hours to drive out to CA. SIL had an emergency c-section and her baby was born 9 weeks early so now we may be driving out this coming weekend unless RE says no. Baby & mom are doing great but now we have to decide if we are going out this weekend or the weekend of the 23rd which was her shower but also the day after my beta. I'm kind of leaning towards going this weekend b/c it would be too early to know about our results which might make it easier to be out there for her. Thoughts???

My RE said no air travel until after beta. Didn't really restrict land travel. Just make sure to take breaks and get your blow flowing occasionally! :)

  • @halips - thanks! I definitely had a little bit of a hard time when I found out she was prego so I'm grateful that I'm at a place where I can be excited for her!

I'm thinking Re will be fine with the drive. If not, we'll just stay home and everyone will understand.

  • @halips She wants me to take the estradial vaginally now.

I had my bloodwork and ultra sound this morning. The lining is still not thick enough.  Last Tues. it was at 5, and after increasing the estradiol dosage, it is at 5.9.  The dr. wants it to be at least 7 before starting the progesterone. I'm supposed to go back again on Friday. At that point, I will either having the transfer on 4/21 or if it has not improved, the dr. will cancel this cycle.

When I did the retrievals, the dr. said my lining was thinkening beautifully. So if I have to start the transfer cycle over again, I don't know if I would be taking medications similar to what I did for the retrieval. Is that what they do for a fresh cycle?  I'm doing frozen. I guess, I'll find out more on Friday.

I don't know if this is the right approach, but I was just doing a search on how to thicken the lining. (ex. foods) I guess as long as I'm not going overboard, it shouldn't hurt.

I also had the nutritional counseling appointment this morning.

@WishingforLuck During my nutrition appointment, we discussed my typical day, what I eat, and what time I eat. She gave suggestions on foods that were similar to what I am already doing. I should be eating anti-inflammatory foods to help pregnancy. She also wrote out a meal/snack schedule based on my schedule. Some of the slight changes are a little lower in sugar than what I already have. She gave simple recipe ideas and ideas if I am getting takeout. It doesn't mean I have to follow the changes strictly, but I'll at least do what I can during the day. Let me know if you want more info. I can tell you what I'll be eating.

My beta came in at 2.5. I had a really rough day yesterday, and I took the FRERs, and neither looked great. A tiny smidge of a line after a long long long wait. Probably evaps.

I don't know what we're going to do, but we'll find a way. This way I can focus on moving across the country in 45 days.

I wish all of you the very best, and you're all in my prayers.

    @Griffin5413 GL tomorrow!

@gatorlorit I have days where I'm full of energy and some where im exhausted from the Lupron. I was on Lupron for two days short of four weeks and Estradiol for about three weeks pre-transfer.

AFM:  Had my last lining check today and it was at 9.4 so RE is happy. I start Doxycycline, Medrol and PIO tomorrow for transfer Friday. I go to see my acupuncturist Thursday afternoon and then plan to take the weekend to relax.

@mela615 I am thinking about you. Is there any chance that they just tested too soon and you implanted late? I've never had a + so I am not exactly sure how this works...

@leanneb82 good luck with your transfer!! Your weekend plans sound perfect!

afm: I have resigned myself that AF is just being really shy this month and after only a shorter cycle on BC, the cyst, and the Lupron shot this is all she has. I'm prepared for what ever the RE has to say about it all tomorrow. I think.

@LynnNJ I'm on estradiol vaginally now, it's not so bad I guess because I'm getting used to it. Just expect blue discharge. I got panty liners and have to wear them everyday. Also did you take it upon yourself to get a nutritionist? Yes I would like to know what you are eating. Thanks for the info.

  • @griffin5413 I hope everything goes perfectly today!

Well, I woke up at 4 am today, was at the doctor by 7 (it's only a half hour away and they don't open till 730). I was too nervous. Looks like everything is ok so far, just have to wait to hear what the blood work says. She said my ovaries and lining look great! I start the patches today so long as they do not call because something is wrong with the bw. So excited, it looks like we should still be on for the transfer on the 28!! Fingers crossed super tightly!!

  • @WishingforLuck Did taking the estradiol vaginally help?

The nutrition counseling was offered through the place I do IVF and was covered under my insurance plan so I jumped on this opportunity.

The food choices involved less sugar and  getting enough protein. With my long days during the work week, making sure that I don't go more than 4 hours without eating. I leave at 630 am and sometimes get home at 7:30 or 8 pm. So i should have a snack between breakfast and lunch.  Since there are several hours between lunch and dinner,  I should have about 3 snacks. I had been confused about this,  but a cup of coffee is ok during pregnancy,  but while trying to conceive try to avoid caffeine. I had been going back and forth but now will try to cut out the caffeine as long as I can. Right now I have the food in mind for trying to get pregnant, but just some slight adjustments need to be made once pregnant.

Regarding lower sugar choices, instead of having a vanilla Greek yogurt as a snack,  I was told I should have plain with cinnamon instead. Kind brand protein/granola bars are good choice, as long as they don't have more than 5 g sugar. Most of the food choices are common sense. Ex. Avoid fried food and low sugar. Eat lots of vegetables. There's too much information to share here.

Maybe I can start a thread (or see if one already exists ) Since I think it would be great to share ideas.
  • Thanks ladies! Transfer went really well today. I love that DH got to be in the room. I went to acupuncture before and after the appointment so I'm feeling pretty relaxed. Just home taking it easy now. Let the TWW begin!

  • @LynnNJ yes it helped thicken the lining, in about 1 week my lining jumped up about 4 cm. Thanks for the nutrition info. I heard about the protein so I started drinking the boost drinks. I'll go buy some kind granola bars instead though as I imagine the sugar content is less. Thanks so much.

@Griffin5413 FX! What were the restrictions they gave you (i.e. no lifting and etc.)?
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @WishingforLuck - there really weren't any restrictions except to take it easy and relax. No heavy lifting but nothing specific. She did say to start eating like I'm pregnant so no processed cheese, no deli meats things like that. I need to do a little more research on what not to eat.

Hi Everyone! 2 perfect little embies were transferred today and I have been meditating/acupuncture etc. all day today. Feeling so incredibly wonderful to finally be here and just 10000 percent excited and at peace - no worry or stress whatsoever. Its crazy because after being on this road for over 4 years with so many twists and turns, it really does somehow feel "different" this time, and I just feel like this is the right time (where now looking back none of the other times truly felt as right)

Anyway Friday is a BIG day for so many here - looks like we have 2 transfers and 2 betas - such a big day for the group.

Also wanted to pass along if you search on Spotify for "fertility affirmations" - there are some really awesome meditative tools and mantras there that have been amazing for me today and I will continue to use the next few weeks.

So with that said, what are some of the "voo doo" as my husband calls it things you did or plan on doing during the 2ww. I have been obviously doing the mantras, lighting candles, holding St. Gerard Cards, Eating pineapple and avocados, keeping my feet warm, and trying to eat a lot of warming foods. What other little "old wives tales" are any of you following? Oh and I also watched a bunch of raunchy female comediennes on Comedy Central today because laughter they say increases implantation :)

  • halips  - I feel good. Transfer was sooooo much easier than the retrieval! I am probably going to drive myself crazy until next Friday. We have gotten so used to being in tune with our bodies that everything I feel, I think means something. Like I can't imagine if I feel a little nauseous in the morning its because of a pregnancy... • @Griffin5413 I know what you mean!! For the longest time when we started trying, we would analyze every single little thing and think it was the month for BFP and then be disappointed. So now I'm focusing on not over analyzing and overthinking and am not going to test at home before beta...we'll see if I can make it.  :)

  • vssbrm - i just replied to you on the march/april board too but I wonder which of your meds is the one making you nauseous... I thought the transfer meds were a breeze compared to the stims for retrieval. It was the antibiotic that was a bummer. Looking at your signature though, I think you are taking more than I have been... I took Lupron, Estradoil 3x per day, 5 days before transfer doxicyline & PIO. I have also been taking since Lupron Vitamin C, Vitamin E & baby asprin every day.

The real bummer I learned on Tuesday is that I have to continue the PIO & Estradoil for 10 weeks... that's 70 more intramuscular shots

  • @Griffin5413 I responded in the other tread too - so far minivelle patch and estradiol 3x/day. I add more meds next week. I'm so exhausted I feel like I could go to bed now, it's 3:40 pm only... Last night I struggled to stay awake until 830. I had to set an alarm to wake up and take my last pill of the day.

  • Tomorrow is the first ultrasound I'm actually a little nervous about. There is so much anticipation whether or not my uterus lining has made progress since Monday. While I prefer having the transfer next week, I should probably keep focused on any positive things I can get out of transfering next month.
-More chance to work on my diet, exercise, and get in shape.
-This month has been really stressful. Transferring after the craziness of April hopefully mean I'll be more relaxed on the transfer day
-Transfering in May should make the first trimester a little easier on me, since it is not so crazy. It is just better timing in terms of my work schedule.
-My DH's stress should be a little better by then too
-I guess whatever the result is tomorrow will be for the best chances of pregnancy whenever the transfer day does come.

I'm not bummed so much about the idea of delaying the transfer. Not knowing when it will be is what I'm dwelling on. Life keeps going from crazy busy to just waiting for things to happen. I'm not sure which is worse. There has been a lot of progress made over the years to just get to this point, so I have to keep that in mind to stay positive. I know there will be a lot more waiting once I do have the transfer, so I have to keep looking forward. I have about 14 hours until I find out what the plan will be, so I just have to distract myself until then. :)  I guess I just needed to vent a bit.

I truly am excited for everyone who has started their 2ww, and I know I am not far behind (whatever the result is tomorrow). Once I am there, I will probably become impatient again since it will involve more waiting. :) I just have to remember to continue looking forward and focused the other things I need to accomplish. Next week will be busy again and other things will be on my mind.

  • @cmmxv8 congrats on being PUPO.

  • Looks like my lining actually went down. :( I've read about that happening to other women. I just dealt with my emotions for a little while in the car. I just needed to confront my disappointment over this. The sad part is that my dh has his own stuff he's dealing with,  I don't really expect him to show any emotional support for me. He'll be there if there is a problem that needs to be fixed and he'll research things to death when I have an issue with my car,  but he doesn't know how to deal with emotions that just need to be resolved on their own. (Ex. Like offering a hug...that would be nice) He may try to say something to try to get me to look on the bright side of things,  but I will likely take it the wrong way. I actually already know the bright side and just need to sit with this for a moment before moving on. If you've seen my history, I've handled every obstacle  with strength and kept looking forward.  I will do the same again. Once I have a plan for the next way to approach the transfer cycle, I'll feel better. This is actually quite minor compared to the other stuff, but since I'm so close, I'm feeling it more.(probably won't get easier the closer I get) I think I had a similar reaction when I learned last month that I needed a hysteroscopy. (which ended up not being a big deal)  It was somehow easier for me last year when I learned I needed major surgery to remove my fibroids. :)  I'll probably feel better in a few hours, but I guess I felt the need to share with those of you who have been through this. I am completely aware that my situation could be much worse and I'm almost there, so I just need to get over this minor disappointment. I haven't heard from the doctor yet,  but based on my conversation with her Monday I expect this cycle to be canceled. If so,  I will move over to the May FET group. I will update if plans change.  Good luck to everyone!
