@ash111916 I would try not to stress out too much. You will find on these boards all kinds of stories of u/s dating embryos behind later to have them catch up or get a completely different reading on another machine. It's also very likely you did ovulate late after your MC. My body did all kinds of weird things after my MC.

I know how hard it is, but try to concentrate on the positives right now- yay good heartbeat!! Every single one of us on this board is likely dealing with PTSD from our previous losses and jumping to the worst possible conclusion comes with the territory. Just keep reminding yourself that you are pregnant today!

  • @rspalding001 - yay for a great first ultrasound.  I didn't realize that they could do Panorama type tests so early!

@ash111916 - My cycle was crazy after my miscarriage.  I definitely didn't ovulate at my normal time.  It's great that you saw a heartbeat!

I'm going with ovulated (a little) late after the mc AND measuring a little off. I figure between those 2 I can meet in the middle.

There goes our plans to announce to my aunts/uncles/grandma at our Mother's Day brunch (which we scheduled a week after actual Mother's Day) and on SO's dad's birthday (he's been asking for grandkids for a long time). Oh well...
  • How exciting to see all of the good news from everyone!!! Congratulations all!

I'm trying not to freak out today. My doctor's office called to say that my bloodtests came back positive for Kell antibodies. They are running more tests, guessing a titer, and will hopefully have those results tomorrow. According to Google this is similar to an Rh mismatch and likely resulted from me getting blood transfusions after the loss in December. (I bled a lot before getting a D&C for the placenta.)

If the baby is Kell positive then my antibodies could attack his blood cells and cause anemia. It could even get bad enough that they give the baby transfusions in-utero. So... I'm hoping to get more answers tomorrow and figure out what we do from here.

  • Thank you ladies for the support. Spoke with the doctor today and verified much of what I found online about being anti-Kell sensitized.

My titer was 1:4 and critical is 1:8 or higher, so for the moment we're fine. Titer rechecks will happen every 2-4 weeks. She's also referring me to a MFM specialist who I'll see on April 22nd. We are now officially high-risk. :-/ If the titer goes up they have to do repeated ultrasounds to check for anemia in the baby.

From the clinical information she gave me it seems like our percentage for a healthy baby is decent. But we'll definitely know more after the 22nd. The whole thing is surreal and terrifying at the same time.

@cherrypicked That blog was one of the few resources I found. Now that I know for sure this is the same thing I'm going to read it more closely. Thank you for sharing!

  • So doing a little more research shows that there is a good chance my husband is Kell negative which means the baby should be too, which means my antibodies won't hurt him or her. Only 9 percent of the population are Kell antigen positive, and I happened to get some of their blood. Maybe there's a chance this will progress as a normal pregnancy!
