Hi...I'm new here. I've been staying off the boards because I felt like a debbie downer anytime I said anything about my last miscarriage, I had no idea what this weekly post was for! A quick overview: I'm 29, I had a miscarriage last September at 11 weeks, today was my due date I think I willed myself to be pregnant by my due date, I was really dreading it.
Weeks: 6+1
Next milestone/appointment? My 1st appt is on 4/15 - it can't get here soon enough.
Rant/Rave/Anything else: My shoulders are absolutely killing me - I immediately panicked about an ectopic - went to my GP yesterday, she said the girls are growing and I need a new bra with better support. I really hope that is the issue! Feeling very un-pregnant, aside from the bloating. I'm trying to not let that bother me too much.
Questions? Nope
GTKY: What do you do for a living? Sales rep - I sell grass seed.
I'm always late for this one. I seem to work on Mondays a lot
Weeks: Almost 6 or almost 7
Next milestone/appointment? Ultrasound next week on Wednesday!! Seeing a healthy heartbeat on ultrasound is my milestone
Rant/Rave/Anything else: My betas are going up! 15700 and then 21980! Last time it was 10000something at 7 weeks and then lower after 3 days, so that's a little reassuring. I think I'll be able to breathe and relax once I see our little dinosaur on ultrasound and see a good heart rate. Until then I'm taking it one day at a time and being thankful for all this lovely nausea.
Questions?
GTKY: What do you do for a living? I'm an RN. I work on an intermediate care unit where we see a huge variety of patients. It's kind of the dumping ground for all the patients that are too sick for a med-surg floor but don't quite need to be in ICU. I love it. I'm also certified in wound and ostomy care, so I lead the skin care team on our unit.

Next milestone/appointment? This past week was when my last fetus stopped growing. I didn't know it for another 4 weeks, but still, I'll be happy to put this one in the rearview. I won't rest easy, though, until I have my first u/s on April 21.
Rant/Rave/Anything else: I still have few symptoms. My boobs aren't swelling yet, which they did last time even after the fetus stopped growing, though they have been a little tender. I've had some slight nausea and fatigue. It worries me, but I'm trying not to think about it too much.
Questions? None that can be answered here!
GTKY: What do you do for a living? I'm an administrative assistant for a nonprofit that works with homeless and at-risk youth.
@tigerfish227 I have a Doppler from my sister in law that they used after their loss. But using it is how I discovered my last loss, so I have no idea if I'll use it again. They can be a bit tricky, so if you do use it and don't find it the first few times you try, don't freak out. I know it took my SiL over an hour the 1st few times.
@khartnell I'm sorry to hear about your loss last year, but I'm glad you found this forum. I know it's been a big help for me. Yay that you're pregnant now!
@zrain Hope this week before your ultrasound goes fast! Ooh, wound care/ostomy nurse means you get to see all of the gross stuff lol. I have a lot of respect for the ones I've worked with, you guys really know your stuff.
Well I had my 1st appointment today, and everything went great! We saw one little blob moving around with a heartbeat. It measured a bit less than my original timing, but the doctor blamed it on the machine and said we'd stick with my original due date. There was a small subchorionic hemorrhage that she's not worried about and just said I might have spotting.
The doctor was so sweet and excited for us. She was doctor who cared for me in the hospital during my MC and I chose to stick with her.

Weeks: 6w4d by ovulation, 6w2d by ultrasound today
Next milestone/appointment? 2 weeks from today for followup ultrasound and appointment
Rant/Rave/Anything else: Went to a new OB today. I liked her, but she did express concern about the embryo measuring small 6w2d (by LMP I should be 6w5d and by ovulation 6w4d) and a relatively low heartbeat (not measured, but she said it was about 100 bpm). She decided to wait to do the full work up for the pregnancy after 2 more weeks after checking for growth and the heartbeat again. While from what I'm reading, I'm far from out and should still have a good chance of success, but she made it sound like there is a high chance that heartbeat is slowing to a stop. So, for the next 2 weeks, I have to wait anxiously and hope it just implanted late or something along those lines.
Questions? I saw my first (very faint) BFP on a wondfo at 9 DPO. Does anyone have good info on when HCG is first detectable compared to implantation dates? That is, could I have gotten a BFP at 9 DPO with a relatively late implantation?
GTKY: What do you do for a living? I am an Instructor of Engineering at a 2 year college and partner with a top engineering university to get the successful students to transfer there to finish their bachelor's degree.
@monkey41 I've been told that they allow 5-7 days give or take for error. Not every embryo grows exactly the same and a lot of those bedside ultrasounds allow a lot of room for error. It sounds well within your range. Keep in mind that temping and OPKs aren't always completely accurate to the day. I've also heard that at 6+2, a heart rate of 90-110 is normal. So this all sounds good to me.
When I went for my u/s, I thought I was 6+3 based on the day I got my OPK +, but I measured 6+2. This means I got my BFP (extremely faint FRER) at 9 DPO. It's definitely possible!
Next milestone/appointment? ultrasound/OB appointment Friday! ❤️
Rant/Rave/Anything else: It's nice to have such a caring community to be apart of & lift each other up. I'm a long time lurker, second time commenter.
Questions? so yesterday I had some bright red bleeding without any cramping and I went for an u/s because I was freakin out. The baby was measuring 7w2d a full week behind (as of yesterday) is that normal? The PA (it was the ER) said they didn't know the cause of my bleeding, the cervix is closed, HCG levels looks good, baby HB 170. (I didn't get to hear it
@kcolv the Bump likes to eat comments every now and then, especially if you're mobile bumping! Sorry you're having bleeding, but glad everything looks okay!
@kcolv FX that your u/s on Friday is good. Measuring behind is possible if you ovulated/implanted late and also there is a margin for error with u/s by about 5/6 days give or take. There is a lot of conversation on this topic throughout the board if you look around.
@monkey41 I got my BFP on a dollar store test at what I thought was 10dpo (could have been 8 or 9). I had my blood drawn that day an my HCG was only 16 (the BFP was super faint). I had some brown tinged CM 4 days later and my OB seems to think that was implantation bleeding. I asked if it was possible to have HCG before implantation and she seems to think it is. The more I think about implantation I feel like it is more of an ongoing process in the beginning rather than just one day. Like it just burrowing in deeper. Also I was measuring 3 days behind what I though I was (so that would mean I got my BFP at 7dpo). There is a margin for error on u/s dating. I go in next week to confirm everything is fine (I just have this feeling that everything is good with this one).
Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Ultrasound today was fantastic. I posted it in the thread. Baby is measuring 9w exactly and has a fantastic heart beat of 160bpm.
I am really starting to feel like this might be our take home baby. I've never made it this far without making it to term. Whatever it is that causes my losses seems to be mostly limited to the early first trimester.

I had my 2nd appointment today, to confirm the empty sac we saw last week, and there was a perfect little baby in there, with a perfect heartbeat of 140, measuring 1 day ahead!
Weeks: 7w3d
Next milestone/appointment? Today was a perfect appointment. My miscarriage was a blighted ovum, so seeing that empty sac last week was just reliving my miscarriage. I still can't believe there is a baby in there! I will feel better when I start feeling movement, but for now I'm on a high. I have my next appt in 3 weeks.
Rant/Rave/Anything else: I am just so happy!
Questions? None
GTKY: What do you do for a living? I run an in home daycare.
So, TB ate my responses half way through yesterday and I was tired and gave up, so here's my attempt at re-doing them
@KilgraveMadeMeDoIt Keeping the house clean is so hard. I find the energy for work, but there isn't much left when I get home, and the day after a stretch of work I'm useless. That's very kind of you to let prospective students stay with you! I'm so glad your ultrasound went well!!! FX this is your take-home rainbow
@m6agua My nausea seems to come and go. It's hard not to freak out when it's not there. I decided I'm not going to take anything to help with it until I get my ultrasound so I don't freak out any more than I already am.
@chloe97 I'm so glad your ultrasound went so well!!! What a relief!
@CecilTheBear I'm also having trouble getting things done, even things I enjoy doing! I just don't have any energy left.
@MissAmeliaPond Sorry your job isn't turning out how you hoped it would. I agree with PPs, it sounds like it's time to find a new one or just stop working for now. All that stress isn't worth it, and if they're not willing to train you it doesn't sound like a good environment to be in. I don't think it would be bad to find a new job while pregnant. I'm pretty sure you don't have to say anything about it and they're not allowed to ask. I hope the spotting goes away. I'm glad you got some reassurance about it and I hope your ultrasound on Friday looks good!
@lilwonder Yay! I'm glad your ultrasound went well!
@recontrezmoi How do you like working in drug research? I love bedside nursing but I know I won't be able to do it forever since I've already had three back injuries, so I'm keeping an eye out for other options
@jrussell16 Sorry for the spotting. PGAL is so anxiety-inducing. I hope your ultrasound on Thursday goes well. I totally get taking breaks from TB. I try to stay away when I'm having a hard PGAL day too.
@aquasocks Like EDK210 said, it's still within normal! Plus I imagine your Dr would have said something at least if he thought it wasn't.
@CherryPicked Welcome! I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your LO was very much loved. I very much agree that a required nap time during the work day would be wonderful.
@EDK2010 I bring DH to all my appointments. For my next appointment my midwife even gave me her late time slot that she usually reserves for last minute appointments because that was the only time that DH could make it. She made it sound like it's very normal for SOs to come too. He also goes to all ultrasound appointments with me.
@MrsBinPA I hope you get some more clear answers tomorrow! It's so frustrating being in that waiting period. Hang in there!
@rspalding001 The all-day sickness is exhausting. FX for a good ultrasound tomorrow!
@Randerson42 I'm glad your ultrasound went well!! I love filling out forms. I'm getting my ultrasound at a different office because insurance will cover it better there and I totally filled out all the online forms even though I probably don't need to since I'm just getting an ultrasound and not even seeing a provider. Forms are fun
@kns1988 What a sweet way to tell your grandma the good news
@comealongponds Yay for light activity! Your dog must be so happy! If you decided to apply for the step-down position, would that still be peds? Either way I think it would be awesome. I'm on an adult step-down unit and I love the in-between-ness of it. The patients are pretty sick so there's lots of critical thinking and the occasional adrenaline rush, but they aren't so sick that they're sedated, so you can still interact with them.
@Af2013nl The bloat. Seriously. A coworker told me I was looking pudgy the other day. I forgave him because he knows I'm pregnant and probably just meant he though he could see a bump, but I told him it's all just bloat.
@stepamos I hope your ultrasound today went/goes well!
@tigerfish227 Welcome! I don't plan on buying a doppler, but my coworker has one and she said I could borrow it if I want. My parents are coming up in May and I might borrow it while they're here, but only if my midwife is able to find the heartbeat with her doppler at my appointment the week before. I think it could potentially be very anxiety-inducing if I'm not able to find the heartbeat, so I don't plan on getting one to use regularly. That plan may change depending on how I feel and if my coworker wants to let me borrow hers longer-term.
@khartnell Welcome! You can certainly feel free to be a debbie downer here. We've all been there and understand that sometimes you just need to vent about your fears. I'm glad your GP figured out your shoulder pain. Yay for having to go shopping!
@lajoliedreamer Milestones are so hard. That's a really long wait for your first ultrasound! Hang in there *hug*
@monkey41 Like PPs have said, a 2 day difference on ultrasound is within the normal range of variation. When they're that little a lot of things can impact the accuracy of measuring. 100 seems like a normal heart rate for that size!
@kcolv That sounds like a really good heart rate! Is that 8w3d you're supposed to be based on LMP or ovulation? It could be you ovulated later this time. I think either way there's still chance for error with measuring, but that great heart rate is promising! FX for another good ultrasound on Friday

Yay @MollySm! I know that amazing feeling of getting an ultrasound to confirm a miscarriage and hearing a strong heartbeat! Fx that all continues to go well!
@mollysm Yay! I know the feeling. It is amazing to see something in there instead of the empty sac! I go in next week to make sure mine grew and has a HB.
@zrain I work at a paediatric hospital so yes, the step-down would be paeds. It's still in development though, and needs some infrastructure work to make it happen, so I feel like I'm going to be stupidly pregnant by the time it actually launches and I'll be too close to leaving to bother, which makes me a little sad. For the most part, we already care for the same patients on my unit (trached and unable to communicate, high volume heated high flow, cpap/bipap, etc), they just want to cohort them in one location with a dedicated RT and more resources to improve safety
Next milestone/appointment? Clotting disorder workup results and a 8 week US
Rant/Rave/Anything else: Just in case I wasn't already paranoid enough after an infertility battle and a MC on Xmas Eve, this PG I started gushing bright red blood at week 5 and am still oozing steak sauce and coffee grounds. Apparently my little guy tried to take me out (or my body tried to take him out?) with an SCH that has partially separated my placenta. So I'm on house arrest - I mean bed rest. With nothing to do but try to avoid Dr. Google! At least I get to see weekly scans to check in on what's really happening in there. So far there's a nice heartbeat. FX!!
Questions? How do you not go completely bonkers on bed rest with access to Dr Google??

@sunbeam1 - I just got released from prison, I mean restricted activity! I spent lots of time lurking other boards on the Bump, Pinteresting all the things baby related, and bingeing on horrible daytime TV and Netflix. Soak up the relaxation, nap lots, drink lots of water and eat yummy food hope you get paroled soon!
@zrain (and everyone else that responded), thank you! H did end up coming with me yesterday. It actually worked out really well. It was our first time meeting this OB and we loved her. I was happy to have him there, because we were able to discuss his profession with her. He has kind of a unique situation (professional sports) where he will be traveling a lot around my due date and cannot ask for time off, it's not an option. There is a chance he could miss the birth. My OB actually offered some suggestions that we weren't expecting and she seemed really supportive. I was worried that they would be judgmental. I don't know how many appointments he can make in the future, but I was glad that he at least came for the first one. We also got to hear the HB on the doppler so I think that made it more real for him. Thanks for all of your input!
I'm so glad you both saw healthy babies @KilgraveMadeMeDoIt and @MollySm! I find myself checking up on the ladies in this thread often. Love the support here!
Awesome Kid #1: Born September 2013! Awesome Kid #2: Due November 2016!
@MrsBinPA Good luck! Sending positive vibes your way. I'm heading in for my first ultrasound at 10:15 too and I'm really hoping for good news for both of us.
Good news to report! I just had my first ultrasound and saw a beautiful little baby measuring right on track at 8w3d with a HB of 160. I cried lots of happy tears. Two weeks ago I had pretty much convinced myself that I was out and I was expecting the worst today.
Here's hoping we hear positive news from @MrsBinPA too!
So I left the appointment today with a PICTURE! Definitely a gestational sac with visible contents inside. It definitely seems a few days behind where I would think I "should" be (6weeks), but definitely not ectopic and he said everything is looking good. I go back next week for another check!
Thanks for all the support and well wishes. I know it can still go either way. I don't have a good track record with Wk 6, but I'm going to try not to stress too much and just focus on the fact that I am still pregnant for now.

I'm getting my ultrasound at a different office because insurance will cover it better there and I totally filled out all the online forms even though I probably don't need to since I'm just getting an ultrasound and not even seeing a provider. Forms are fun
@honeybeewebb2424 I hope your labs turned out well!

GTKY: What do you do for a living? Been in one or another kind of STEM job forever - R&D, product development, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing plant start up. Lots of different industries; pharma, food, produce, aerospace. I love working, but yes, it's totally why I was so old before checking in on why I wasn't getting PG after 10+ years of no BC...

I think it is either going to go one of 2 ways:
1) clearly abnormal and misoprostol
2) more limbo
i will be shocked if everything is all clear.

good luck at your ultrasound @jrussell16
Here's hoping we hear positive news from @MrsBinPA too!
So I left the appointment today with a PICTURE! Definitely a gestational sac with visible contents inside. It definitely seems a few days behind where I would think I "should" be (6weeks), but definitely not ectopic and he said everything is looking good. I go back next week for another check!
Thanks for all the support and well wishes. I know it can still go either way. I don't have a good track record with Wk 6, but I'm going to try not to stress too much and just focus on the fact that I am still pregnant for now.
Creepy internet stranger hugs to all of you.
@jrussell16 YAY! Glad all went well.
