Re: Week of 4/4 Randoms

  • All I have to say is, thank god there isn't a Wawa or Friendly's on this side of the country cause there could be lots of issues... also, if anyone wants to send me a strawberry Fribble in some dry ice to Vegas, I'll name my kid after you
@PinkLady2015 I will trade you a strawberry fribble for some tacos from tacos el gordo and/or a pan roast from palace station oyster bar. Literally my favorite part of visiting Vegas - forget the casinos.

  • I am debating on whether to buy 1 or 2 diaper bags -- Either 1 that both me and my husband can use or both 1 for me and 1 for my husband.  I think it would be more practical to have just 1 that both he or I can use - Especially if we're out and about and want to take turns carrying it... but the girl in me just wants something girly and pretty, but my husband would be too embarrassed to carry something like that around.  Any experience from you ladies on this?
  • lol, @kellz14 get the most girly, frilly bag possible and tell DH to suck it up :)
  • @kellz14 A few of us talked about this on the unnecessary baby stuff thread. Can't remember the exact title. Anyway, I bought a cute bag for me and a diaper dude bag for DH and it was a total waste of money. Even if he takes her out on his own, he'll take my pink and black flower bag because it's always packed and ready to go. I'm pretty sure most of the other moms agreed one bag is much easier. Like @PugLoveBug said, embarrassment goes out the window once those men have a daughter. So I say get the bag you want and save yourself some money skipping the second one.
  • Thanks for the advice. We're having a son. I still want a girly pretty diaper bag though. bahaha.

I'm having a son this time and keeping my pretty diaper bag. Do it!

    we had two diaper bags

    1) for daycare, whomever was doing drop off would bring it. it was always stocked w/ enough diapers, wipes, diaper cream, and either BM or Formula after we switched

    2) for us

  • It probably wouldn't hurt for DH to have a diaper bag in his car though as a just in case...

  • We have a backpack for DD now with diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. it's white with bright colored polka dots. He carries it and doesn't say anything. But we carried a camo diaper bag because it's the one he wanted so now he can't complain about the polka dots.
  • I don't understand why the sex of my fetus impacts the clothes accessories I wear/own. I don't like frilly things so I won't be getting a "girly" diaper bag, but so what if I wanted one? I am still a girl, yes? Even though the child inside me is in possession of a penis? I got a bunch of weird comments about wearing a pink dress to my baby shower, and I really don't get it. Not only are colors not gendered in my world, but why should my ability to wear pink dresses stop because I'm having a boy?
That's seriously the weirdest comment ever. It shouldn't matter what so ever, for so many reasons, on so many levels. I'll wear whatever I want. I'll let my kids wear whatever they want. Why do people think they can voice stupid opinions on this ! Ugh.
  • Question for those of you in the medical field/fellow nurses....  Given that it will be July do you plan on asking not to have any medical students or brand new residents in the room?  I plan on an epidural and work in anesthesia so I know just how scary a brand new resident can be but I also know when the time comes I will feel bad grilling someone on their experience.
Bring on the residents. They have to learn somehow. Maybe I am just sympathetic because my hubby is a doc and always felt bad when people would decline to be seen by him.
  • I failed my 1 hr GD test so spectacularly that they are skipping the 3 hour and sending me straight to the counselor and decided that I will be having my baby at 39 weeks.

I'm not terribly concerned because I'm already familiar with the diet since I have PCOS. Just means it's time to get serious. I've been eating like crap.
  • I've never heard someone thinking the color the mom wore might mean anything. Weird.

We have one diaper bag that is black with a little green. I purposely got a neutral one so DH didn't feel weird carrying it. I am not a girly girl though, so I don't care if it looks pretty. I usually have one $30 purse I use until it falls apart.

@mckcak23 We are team green as well. Last pregnancy I had multiple friends of my MIL say that they heard "we weren't telling anyone." This did make me pretty mad. Makes me feel like MIL thinks I'm either lying or not finding out just to upset people. She explained to me last time that having a baby is already so special that waiting to find out doesn't add anything. As if we hadn't thought about our decision.

  • Would there be a reason I can't look at the FFFC thread?
  • @Shelby00519 I think they did a dirty delete while we were sleeping

They can do that?!?? Is it because it got disturbing at the end? Not gonna lie, I did go to bed a little sad.

  • Can a STM tell me the approximate shelf life of dry formula? I got some coupons in the mail that are pretty great and I'm considering using them. They'll expire before LO gets here and I need to know if I should just give them away or use them myself. I plan to breastfeed but the price makes an appealing back up plan.

  • @pandaferh I never bought formula, but the samples I received while I was pregnant ranged in expiration dates from 6 months to a over a year. Side note- I kept all the samples as backup and didn't end up using any of it, so personally, I was glad I hadn't purchased any.
  • @jenkeale The coupon I received was for $15 off of a $13-20 formula. If I need it, free formula. If I don't, I can always give it to someone else. I'm hoping to not use it but that's a price I can live with :)
  • Dang. You go to bed, you miss the good stuff.
  • I haven't bought any and haven't received any samples yet. Should I just in case breastfeeding doesn't work out?

Ask if your hospital or doctor's office gives out samples.
  • Just had my first ever bikini line wax and all I can say is why the heck have I not done this before?!

  • Did it hurt, @Lindsayleigh1989? I've been thinking of getting one because it's turning into a jungle down there and I can't see for shit to try grooming, but I had a painfully traumatic Brazilian (I know, not the same thing) a few years ago and now I'm a big ol' chicken.
