NEXT month!!

Re: NEXT month!!

  • I feel so behind! My baby shower isn't until April 24th, I'm not due until May 26th though. However, the way things have been progressing I'm just not sure I can keep her in another 7weeks ( or up to 9 if she comes after her EDD)
Origionally we were supposed to be moving before LO comes but that's been replaced with idea of renovating a room or two. RENOVATIONS IN ONE AND A HALF MONTHS?! It makes me hyperventilate at the thought... Not to mention I can't move any of LOs stuff around and organize until we get our game plan in motion. Also, I haven't even thought about touring the hospital or looking into pediatricians. Oh my...
  • Loading the player...
  • Finish the nursery- Waiting for the crib to arrive (MIL took forever to order it.) DH needs to finish the closest organizer as well.
Work baby shower is this week and family one is at the end of the month so should be good to go with baby items hopefully.
Need to do major grocery shopping next month
Need to get hospital bag together
    Have car seat inspected

  •  :o "OH CRAP" :#
  • We still have some things left to do, but I'm feeling pretty good about the relatively short list at this point.
    • Finish nursery (organize baby gear; hang wall art; buy & hang new blinds, hang blackout drapes and rod)
    • Purchase baby monitor and glider/rocking chair (I already know which ones I want, I just need to order them.)
    • Install car seat and extra base in vehicles.
    • Pack hospital bag (and purchase any remaining items needed for it)
    • Finish hall bath renovation (drywall repair, new baseboards, & paint - It's a very small room, so DH should be able to finish it in an afternoon.)
    • Assemble Pack 'N Play and MamaRoo (The rest of the baby gear will probably stay in boxes in the nursery closet until needed.)
    • Organize guest room and move boxes to attic (We cleaned out our home office to turn it into the nursery, and the boxes are stacked in our guest room where my parents will be staying after LO is born.)
    • Finish writing and mail thank-you notes for baby shower gifts
It's still a lot to do, but I think it's manageable over the next several weeks.

  • I'm going to cry. My baby is due next month and we still haven't closed on our house, construction is still not complete and I have yet to set up any baby stuff BECAUSE we are awaiting the house.
  • I'm pretty much done, just a few more things:
    -wash cloth diapers.
-order some more AIO cloth diapers.
    -keep house clean.
-pack my hospital bag (LO's has been packed for weeks).
-wash boppy and breast feeding pillows.
    -install car seats
    -clean out cars
-finish LO's room (painting, making sure furniture is just the way I want it).

Baby is due May 9th and I'm on leave and DH's family is coming twice this month to help us with house stuff. Hopefully it can all get done!
  • I've finally started a to-do list, and am still adding more to it!:

    Baby:
    -Wash clothes/diapers
-Assemble nursery furniture and set up nursery
-Buy remaining registry items (hopefully this weekend)
    -Order breast pump
-Meet with HR to sort out short-term disability and adding baby to health insurance
    -Install car seat
    -Schedule christening
    -Pack hospital bag
-Hit a secondhand bookstore to buy some more books for baby

    House:
    -Get A/C fixed
    -Get ceiling lights installed
    -Carpet cleaning
-Paint guest room, dining room, family room, kitchen, hallway (This may not get finished before baby's here)
-Landscaper to remove shrubs from yard
-Set up new furniture in family room

    Personal:
    -Chop hair
-Finish training team members for when I'm on leave
-Write some more dissertation, because I sure as heck am not going to want to do it after baby's here.
    -Buy nursing bras/tops

Anyone else NOT doing freezer meals? I have so much else to do that it's the last thing on my mind. My mom will be here after baby's born so I'm kinda counting on her to do some cooking....
  • @PYLWhammy I may do some freezer meals if I have time, but I probably won't do a ton.  Maybe I shouldn't be expecting it, but in my circles it's pretty common to bring food over to a new mom's house.  We always bring food to our friends' houses and they are always stocked with food, so I'm just kind of assuming the same thing will happen to us.

  • On washing baby clothes - my grandmother sent some nice frilly dresses as a gift. I take my own adult size nice frilly dresses to a dry cleaner. Do you ladies just toss your nicer baby dresses in the washing machine?
