  • @aehogan90 yes!! It was so unbearable last night! She's head down and keeps her butt on my right side but last night she decided a hand stand was best and it literally felt like she was peeling my skin from my ribs... It hurt to breathe or even turn over... SO was not too happy with her bcuz he was in the mood and I was in so much pain I couldn't even think about DTD!

On a side note, I can no longer wear my regular wired bras due to the discomfort of it digging into my bump and not just while sitting

@mcb2016 I was gonna suggest Sharp Objects. If you enjoy that and enjoyed Gone Girl, try Dark Places from same author. I am sad I have read all three, she needs more books..
My kindle had an ad for a new book by her yesterday! I don't remember the name but was excited to see that :)

  • By the end of the day I can't walk. It's ridiculous. Only three more days till maternity leave starts!
  • So call me crazy but I hate stuffed animals. We were given 3 at our shower and I really wanted to trash them but my H won't let me. I understand that our LO will most likely want to play with stuffed animals and probably sleep with them eventually but right now they are clutter at best and suffocation hazards at worst. Their presence annoys me.
Can you put them in a space saver bag so they are not taking up any room?

They're going to end up in the trash... They're not worth space saving!

We got a stuffed animal net that we hung on DD's wall in a corner. If it doesn't fit in there it goes.

When I got the TDAP shot yesterday I was all "pfft this is nothing, what was everybody even talking about" because the needle is so tiny and it's really a very small shot, so it's over in like half a second.

Then I woke up this morning at 4 am feeling like some giant linebacker punched the hell out of my shoulder, and it was like "oh that's what they meant."

It's not that bad for me, but I keep feeling slightly surprised when I look over at that shoulder and there's no actual bruise there. It definitely feels like there ought to be a bruise.
I was the same! The nurse said I'd feel some stinging in my arm and I didn't. Then woke up in the middle of the night to roll over yet again and holy cow!! Definitely feels like it should be bruised.
  • On a side note, I can no longer wear my regular wired bras due to the discomfort of it digging into my bump and not just while sitting
Shoot, I've been rocking the Genie bra since 1st tri!!
  • Got the Tdap shot yesterday and almost passed out this morning! Yuck.
I got insanely sick after mine, too! Had to take a couple days off of work. I know that means it's working and your immune system is responding, but jeez. I haven't felt that sick in a long time.
I was so shocked by how it made me feel! Nauseous, faint, awful!! Didn't help that we were having a heat wave today :(

I don't understand how people can tell what position their baby is in... for me it's just like, I know she's moving and grooving in there or putting pressure on some organ or another, but for as how she's positioned and what she's hitting me with?  No clue.
This was exactly how I was feeling until the hiccups started a few weeks ago. Everyone was talking about being able to feel them from the outside and how it's sooooo noticeable. Well, here I am eating my ice cream and I felt a super small rhythmic twitch in my pelvic area and the lightbulb finally went off, hiccups, only in my crotch....nice. So that made me obviously assume that baby is head down cause....pretty sure he or she isn't hiccuping from their feet. Then the baby decided he or she wanted to chill on my right side only, I felt around one day and he or she is so balled up in there that I can literally feel their butt under my right boob. I asked my ob and she said yep, head down, butt to the right, legs swung to the left. Now I have butt cheeks in the middle of my stomach under my boobs so pretty sure he or she is head down in Buddha baby position waiting to come out. If it weren't for me stopping to realize those teeny tiny twitches were hiccups and my kid crowding only one side, I'd have no flippin clue where he or she was other than simply inside of my uterus. No shame in not knowing their positioning, that's what Drs are for.

I'm not huge on stuffed animals but I don't have them. We actually got a lot of stuffed things at the baby shower - stuffed little super hero figures, build a bears that are superhero ones, etc. We plan on building a shelf in the bedroom and putting them all up there. Some of them will be used to make the mobile for the crib. The theme for the room is Avengers, so the superhero stuff goes great, and when he is older, he can play with them.

Maybe I'm naïve and clueless, but I didn't know you were considered full term at 38w1d. DH and I had part 1 of a labor basics class last night and the instructor mentioned this. I mean, holy santa clause sh!t, I was not prepared to hear that and still can't since that's in basically 2 weeks for me! Sure, that doesn't mean I'll deliver then, but in my warped head that equates to "you better have your sh!t ready because you could go sooner than you expect!"

Did anyone else not know this (FTM's) or is it just me?

THIS! I'm so jealous of women who know the position of their baby!

  • Way to schedule the annual work pool/summer party 6 days after my due date. DH is sad now bc obviously I won't be going whether baby is here by that point or not. I told him "Welcome to parenthood."
  • I too have no clue how to tell the position of the baby. I thought he was transverse but have had recent ultrasounds and he is head down!

I only know bc my midwife checks every appointment now and I judge how she's currently positioned based on how it felt when I was last checked... For all I know I could be wrong, but I like to pretend at least I know what I'm talking about.

I agree...for the past 2 hours I've been fighting my heavy eyes...doesn't help I have nothing to do at work either!

Same here! I just had an ultrasound today, so I have an idea of what he's doing.. but he could definitely change positions tomorrow. I someone post on another board (or maybe it was this one?) that she could feel the baby's ankles knocking together.. what the heck? I can't even tell his head from his butt.

  • @laurenmdrn16 Your son sounds like such a sweetheart!  He is going to be such a great big brother!

DH just called and told me that he has to fly out to CA (we live in FL) for work next Monday and will be gone for 10 days.  He rarely has to travel for work, and the timing isn't great.  We had planned to finish the nursery and some other house projects next weekend because we have plans this weekend and weekend after next.  I can do some of the projects on my own, but I was counting on DH to do a lot (actually most) of them.  I really wanted to have everything finished by the end of April so we could just relax for a couple of weeks before LO arrives, but it looks like we'll be cutting it close to get everything in order now.  I guess I'd rather have him go now than next month, but I'm still a little frustrated by it.

  • Without having to start a new thread, I need some opinions on what to do about this awkward dilemma surrounding one of our shower gifts:

We had two showers - the first in DH's hometown and the second in mine.  Since we live out of state and had to fly in for each shower and both of the stores where we registered (Target and BRU) offer free shipping on most items, the majority of our guests had the larger items shipped directly from the store to our house.  We then acknowledged those gifts at each shower.  The two showers were about a month apart.  A week after the first shower, a Pack 'N Play was delivered from Target.  The packing slip did not include the sender's information (all the other gifts we received from there did), so we had no idea who it was from.

Since no one from the first shower had mentioned having one shipped (or said anything when we didn't mention that gift at the shower), we assumed it was from a guest of the second shower and probably a close friend or family member since it was one of the more expensive items.  I had my mom ask some of our family members if they knew who sent it so we could acknowledge it at the second shower.  None of them knew.  I then had my MIL ask around since it could have been from someone from the first shower.  None of them knew.  At the second shower, no one mentioned having shipped it.  Maybe I should have made an announcement or asked guests individually at the second shower, but I felt uncomfortable asking anyone directly whether they had sent it because I didn't want it to seem like what they actually got me (if not the PNP) wasn't as much as I was "expecting" from them (if that makes sense).  Now, I don't know what to do.  We have already mailed our thank you cards from the first shower, and we are trying to get the ones from the second shower out by the end of this week.  We want to thank the sender, but we still have no idea who sent this very generous gift!

I called Target to see if they could tell me who sent it, and they asked for the shipping information on the packing slip so they could look it up in their system.  I had removed the packing slip when we first received it (to see who it was from), and I have since misplaced it.  I searched my entire house, and I can't find the packing slip anywhere. I threw away a stack of junk mail on the counter a few days ago, and I'm afraid it could have been in that stack. It seems like it should be connected to our registry somehow, but the customer service rep said they can't look it up by item number and shipping address without their shipping numbers on the packing slip.  I feel terrible, and I don't know what to do short of calling every shower guest and asking if they sent it (which seems really rude for the reasons stated above).  Any suggestions on how to handle this???

@swflJD can you write list of all attendees and their gifts and find missing one that way??? You should end up with one guest no present?
  • @swfljd If you can email everyone who attended both showers, you can contact everyone with a note to thank your mystery gifter:) Explain that it showed up at your door with no sender information, and that you can only guess that whoever sent it wanted to remain anonymous, but that you'd like to return  the favor by thanking them anonymously.

Process of elimination won't work because many people give multiple gifts and some give none. So I'd say err on the side of a universal thank you.

We tried doing that, and we came up with gifts for each attendee.  The problem is that most of the guests who shipped the larger gifts also got us something small (and easy to pack) to open at the shower.  Also, several invitees did not attend either shower but still sent a gift.  When we matched up the guest lists with the gift lists, there weren't any big surprises.  As anticipated, closer friends and family members gave the majority of the larger, more expensive gifts, and more distant relatives and friends gave most of the smaller, less expensive gifts. That's why it's so baffling!
