  • @Megzb510 definitely. It's the weekend crazies.

MBF: I woke up late today. Our normal Monday Morning Meetings at work start at 10. I rushed into the office, got here just in time. I walk through the door: no one's in there because the boss is sick. The boss didn't email anyone ahead of time to let them know the meeting was cancelled. I'm now angry because I could have grabbed a coffee on the way here.

  • Ha! I just came in here thinking "my Monday Bitchfest is going to be all these crazies coming out of the woodwork." Guess everyone had the same thought...

Why doesn't the US consider Easter Monday a holiday? It's so tough with Easter on a Sunday (and it's ALWAYS a Sunday, not like 4th of July, etc.). I got up at 5 am this morning to get back home from my in-laws in time for work. Just a tad bit cranky.

  • beary67  Luckily there's only 3 women who work on the side of the building that my bathroom is in, so it stays pretty clean. Although we recently had a visitor from accounting who broke our toilet seat. I'm not sure how, but it was the good stall too where we have a cabinet for our "lady products".

  • GAHHHHH.  So background - I'm a public high school teacher.  It's that time of year - standardized testing.  The state I live in recently made it so you DON'T need to pass the state test in order to graduate.  So now massive amounts of students are trying to boycott the test, or purposefully do poorly, which in turn drags down the "grade" of the district, potentially changes how we are funded, how we are ranked, etc.  Like DUDES - this is basically a free day for you.  Just take the multiple choice test, do at least an average job, and chill.  There is no need to freak out and make a huge political statement out of this.

And the worst part - THE PARENTS who enable their kids to skip the test or even try to make meetings with the principal to complain - like he has any control of it.  This is a state mandated test.  You'd have better luck trying to make an appointment with the state legislature.  Maybe instead teach your kids accountability and responsibility.
  • antoto  What's wrong with people? Is taking a standardized test that hard? I hope the students get it together before testing time. I know how big of an impact that can have on your school.

  • @antoto I feel like kids nowadays ( i sound so old saying that) constantly feel like they have to boycott, or make sure everyone knows how they feel about something. JUST BE A KID! Man.....that doesn't even exist anymore. I loved standardized testing days! No homework! Short day!

mrsdaddario I'm sorry you're dealing with those insensitive people. I completely understand. First set of blood work, this women was talking about how her mother had 9 kids or whatever assuming I was getting it done because I was KU. I promptly informed her that I was there because I cannot seem to maintain a viable pregnancy. Also, after my last day 21 blood test the women next to me asked why I was getting bloodwork done. I was over it that day and straight up said I had two miscarriages. She shut up pretty quickly after that one.

I wish there was an in-law rant thread. I had an overdose of MIL over the weekend and I'm still tense from her.
Can we make one of these and have it pinned? So many of us have in-law problems.

  • I can't seem to get my water intake together and I really don't know what's going on with me. I have a brutal headache and I know it's from dehydration. It's not even like I'm drinking more fun things!

Also I have to go to the dentist tomorrow so I can get started on a treatment plan. I was honest and told them I was TTC and wanted to get my oral hygiene together (it's awful) before getting KU. I'm just glad my dentist is really, really nice and has lots of high tech equipment that makes it somewhat more enjoyable to go. Although inside I'm still pretty much like

  • There is a temp for another department who sits behind me and my coworker. She brought fish for lunch and heated it up in the office microwave, then stuck her head around the corner and apologized for bringing fish today. I can't stomach seafood or the smell and really, microwaving seafood in the office kitchen is breaking the cardinal rule of being a good coworker. It's disgusting up in here...

@meilay I just wanted to recommend the app called Water Logged.  It helps track your water intake throughout the day, allows you to set goals and alarms, etc.

  • So this is totally a #firstworldproblem but my MBF is Netflix not working!!!!! Canada has a different set of channels than the US and for the past year we have been paying to use a proxy server to access all of the American content. Apparently Netflix has caught up with it all and have cancelled our access to the extra content as of today!!! Ugh, so much less selection now, and two shows we were in the middle of are gone!

  • @beary67 Thanks! I've been using an app called Plant Nanny for about a year now but it's no longer working. You grow little plants by "watering" them every time you drink water. Maybe a change of app would give me more motivation. I think I'm just in a "bleh" phase right now and need to shake things up.

  • @meilay I do really well with my water intake because I drink sparkling water and I LOVE it.  My bottles are 33.8oz and I usually drink 3 while at work and another one after work.  It might be something to also try!

  • Agree with having Easter Monday, I am so tired. And its rainy and gross here, too cold not to wear my parka, but steamy and humid on the subway.
@cjt121413 that is literally my biggest pet peeve. DH's as well, and he does not hide it well. Once, I did say pretty loudly " your welcome" to someone who didn't thank me for holding the door open, but I am too meek to constantly call people out on their rudeness.
@meilay I just did that as well, I hadn't been to the dentist in MANY years and needed to get things in order for TTC.  Good luck with everything!
