Facebook Announcement Ideas

Hi Everyone!

My husband and I are expecting our first baby in late October. We are announcing to our immediate families this weekend on Easter (I'll be 9 weeks). But we want to wait to announce to all our extended family and friends until after the 1st trimester which will be at some point in late April. Obviously we will be telling those closest to us in person, but wanted to also do a fun Facebook announcement with a photo or something of some sort to share with everyone else. Wondering what everyone is planning on doing for their big announcement!? Share your ideas

This is what we did (I cropped out our names). I posted this along with one of me and DH in front of the chalk board holding the ultrasound. The board said "Baby ___ coming 10.10.2016"

eta: we posted it on 3/17.. 11 years after we started dating

What do you guys think about baby announcements without a month estimate? Like leaving off the "due october 2016" Is it weird? too vague?

I thought about doing that also but my first thought was that everyone will comment and ask when so I might as well put it right in the post.

I mean, it's your announcement, so it should include as much or as little information as you wish to give. But if I saw an announcement without a date, I would immediately wonder when they were due and a nosey enough person will surely ask.

"Mom is a Cardinals Fan, Dad is an Astros fan, and our tiebreaker will be here in October!"

I too thought about this but I figured I'd be bombarded with questions. Maybe something like "Due Autumn 2016"? Not too specific but it may still sate people's curiosity.

Is there any reason not to include the date or at least the month? I feel like if people are close enough to know that you're pregnant they're close enough to know when your kid is born. People will ask, and even if they don't know when you're due now they'll figure out when the baby shows up eventually. I guess I don't see the point in being intentionally opaque about it. If there are privacy concerns about it I'd just avoid making an announcement on Facebook altogether.

Initially, as someone due at the very end of October I was just imagining 30 days of "Is it time?" questions from well-meaning coworkers and acquaintances. Ultimately if I do a public announcement I will likely include the month just because I know people will ask. Personal preference though!

we wanted a sweet picture of our son holding the ultrasound picture to send to family, but instead he had a meltdown because we wouldn't let him chew on it. Haha! We ended up posting the picture on fb as our announcement because it was funny that it seemed like he was less-than-thrilled with the prospect of a new sibling.

We told very few people other than family. Then we posted this at 11 weeks. My cat was not originally supposed to be in it, but she wouldn't leave the basket alone. She kept rubbing her face on it and making the eggs roll and bounce. I kept getting fuzzy shots with a black blob blocking the basket. But I finally let her check it out and got a really good shot, so I used it with the caption, "Lizzy Lou is very excited to announce that she's going to be a big sister!"

I'm going to use this to announce this weekend. My plan was to announce at my inlaws, then FaceTime my dad with it, then announce at my aunt's house for my mom's family, then text coworkers and friends and post on Facebook at night.

Is it weird to basically announce to the whole world in one day? I just don't feel like keeping up the whole charade anymore and I always get anxious about telling people, so I wanted to bang it out this time.

We are huge Starbucks snobs, so we're going to do something like this picture for Facebook (that is just an example from Pinterest). We won't Facebook it until we get to 12 weeks, so I have a little time yet.

We announced to family at my son's 1st birthday party, and my sister got a video of the reactions when he opened a gift with a "Big Brother" shirt. I love that I can go back and watch it! I posted that video clip, and a pic of us in shirts I made:

I have a Pinterest boaRd just for this. I was going to go with the Easter theme reveal, but my U/S isn't until Monday. So, we are going to use a different theme. Luckily his sister knows already and is an excellent photographer.

These are all so cute!

we are telling family in person Sunday, but I'm hoping to hold off on fb until May (work related reasons). I need to play around with my settings so that no one can post on my wall accidently and spill the beans before then.

Since we're big Disney lovers and are going there at the end of April, I hope to get a pic of the 3 of us in front of the castle in Mickey ears with me holding a 4th set embroidered with "Baby" or something like that!

I am a Disney travel agent. We just went last month, so I took a picture with my two daugthers with Mickey ears on sitting in front of the castle (facing the castle so their names on their ears show) with their arms around each other.. and then a third set of ears sitting next to them. I will post on FB in a couple more weeks.
