I'm a HUGE Harry Potter nerd and thought of is months before I actually got pregnant but we made a meme! It went over pretty great if I do say so myself!
We announced to our children while coloring easter eggs by writting the words on the eggs and them scrambling them up and making them put together the sentence! So we kept it simple and announced it on facebook that way too!
I won't be announcing on social media for a few weeks yet, but I made DD a shirt that says Promoted to big sister Oct 2016 to announce to family. I took this pic on Easter which I will likely post with a caption that says "Someone is excited to become a big sister in October!"
This captures their personalities so perfectly - Charlee (the white one) is all happy & excited & is like, "Yay! A baby! I can't wait to snuggle & cuddle & kiss it! Yay!" And the look on Gus' face just says, "Really?! You know it's gonna poop & cry right? Have you guys really thought this through?"
soooo we are friendly w a reporter for the nyc nbc affiliate. he's gonna make us a fake news video to announce it. my husband was the one who thought of this. it's perfect!!!
@ignoscemihi I thought it was really cute that you were all wearing the same color socks... didn't notice the bootie until I read your caption. Maybe make sure that the caption is at the top so people read it before they look at the picture and know what to look for?
@ignoscemihi agree with PP, it was hard to see the bootie but I'm using the mobile app so the picture I'm seeing is probably a lot smaller than the one you will use, I think it's really adorable though!
@RainMira9e and @ladyshark311 Yeah, the bootie does blend in a lot. We have one of just our feet and the bootie on the ground, so maybe I'll post that one (or both) to make it more clear.
I have stranger danger and I might come back and delete this in a day or two, but I'm really pleased with how my announcement photo turned out so I can't help but be an AW. Posted with the caption "DD's name thinks it's time to spill the beans. Baby #2 is joining the party in October!".
A few people who know we are pregnant, keep posting on my wall asking when the baby is due, or how is the baby doing. I got tired of deleting the posts and telling these people that we aren't Facebook official, so we went ahead and made the announcement. Nothing grand just a picture of me holding my sonogram. My professional photographer friend is doing a free maternity shoot for us soon. Will post better pictures later
I graduate from college on May 14th so I'm planning on announcing then. I will be 17 weeks and (hopefully) will know the gender by then. My current plan is to have a picture of me in my cap and gown, my son in his big brother shirt, and my bf in the picture with some cheesy line about next project due October 2016 or something like that
Hoping people still read this thread as I can use some advice
We got the A-OK to go on our Disney trip at the end of the month, so we want to take a pic down there to use as our fb announcement. Originally I wanted to do all of us (me, DH, and DD) in Mickey ears holding a 4th pair, but honestly don't want to spend the money on ears we'll never wear.
Any other ideas for a fun Disney-themed announcement?
JamieK1882 could you just hold one set of ears for the baby? Or just do your DD with the one set of ears to cut down on cost? We did just my DDs and then a set of ears we had gotten for free with a first haircut at the Harmony Babershop. You could do just a sign to hold sharing the news instead of ears.

@JamieK1882 It's not wasted if the baby can wear it later or if it's used as a decoration at showers and/or in the baby's room. You could photoshop cartoon ears onto your photo, or other cartoon elements (like a cartoon baby carriage).
We just did this with the status "Just told Ruthie she's going to have to learn to read this by October 6, 2016. #prayforruthie" (our dog's name is Ruthie).
@JamieK1882 with our first baby we announced with a disney pic! We are a big Disney family! At the time we didn't know gender, so we bought a Minnie outfit and a mickey outfit. We had the Disney photographers take pictures of us in front of the castle holding each of the onesies and used the right one for the announcement. It was cool bc then later I could take a pic of him actually fitting in it
@JamieK1882 maybe do something like this, but with Mickey balloons? Or you could all hold your own, and have an extra with a paci tied near the top Have fun at Disney!!
We finally announced on Facebook this morning! Whew, what a relief! Here's our announcement photo (anyone remotely close to us knows I call my husband Bear )
