@amberraysofdawn I wanted that dress too!! My Shower is this weekend so wouldn't have had time to get it. Make sure you post photos of you in it. It's sooooo pretty. I bet you'll get lots of wear out of both before your due
I'm getting really excited about our shower on Saturday, but also a little nervous. I'm just not great with events that are about me. I'm really hoping that sharing the spotlight with my H and LO will make that part easier. For some reason I keep worrying that guests will regret that they came which is stupid considering its all our closest family and friends. My mom is coming into town this afternoon so that she can do prep stuff tomorrow and I'm so excited to see her but I'm weirdly uptight about the whole thing probably because it means that we're getting closer and closer to delivery. Anyone else having/had anxiety about their shower?
Girl, I totally hear you! I think you are right on about it signalling that we are getting closer to the end of pregnancy and motherhood/infancy is right around the corner. That is a lot to try to take in! Seeing all the baby gear IRL can be a bit jarring because now it is so real that this will be for an actual baby and not some hypothetical future baby. And of course having all eyes on you can be a bit strange. But you are sharing this with your H and LO and everyone who comes loves you and is there to celebrate and support you. From my experience, people generally love any excuse to get together and ooh and ahh over cute baby stuff and (be warned) give tons of advice, whether you ask or not. Your guests will have a blast, so make sure you relax and enjoy yourself too! Let people fuss over you and bring you food/drinks, tell you how gorgeous you look, and shower you with gifts.
Another pro-tip is make sure you have a designated space at home to stash all the loot so it isn't cluttering up your living room or dining room table. Clearly, I did not the first go around and since I was on hospital bedrest I had to rely on MH to try to sort through everything at home by himself and when I finally got home it looked like a baby store vomited all over our house! Seriously, baby blankets, bottles, toys, stuff EVERYWHERE! It took me a good month or two just to wade through and organize everything while recovering with our new baby. Have someone else be your "secretary" and note who gave what so thank you notes will be a breeze, but don't worry about getting those out in any strict time frame. In short, just have fun and soak up all the love and excitement from friends and family.

I had anxiety going into my shower too. I think it was mainly that I feel awkward being the center of attention (and it wasn't a couples shower so the focus was really all on me). I tried to put it out of my mind ahead of time and focus on the fact that several relatives and friends who I don't normally get to see had come in town for it and just socialize with them at first. Once it got going, everyone greeted me and then mingled with each other and aside from the gift opening (which I rushed through as best I could), it was actually fun and went by really fast. And I got some great presents. ha!
Anxiety about the baby being here is another story...
@LadySamLady I am beyond stressed and have had several small anxiety attacks about it! Mine is next week and I still don't have a dress! Well I have a couple but I don't think they are shower worthy... I'm worried about how it's going to go, I know nothing about it just part of the guest list. I hate not knowing and feeling like I have no control! Which my sister is great at throwing parties, so I trust her but I can't stop thinking worst case scenario about everything. I think it's the hormones and the reality that's hitting me, I know how you feel. I just keep telling myself everything will be ok and soon enough I'll have more important things to think about
I ordered a dress from zulily that was super cute and a fairly reasonable price. It got here in less than a week but I'm so disappointed. It's practically see through and the color, which was supposed to be beige with pink embroidery, is all pink. All though it is long enough and fits okay, I don't see myself wearing it....EVER. My shower isn't until April 24th, but I really don't want to have to spend money on clothes I won't be wearing any time other than pregnancy.
Mine is Sunday I'm super duper excited. Last time, I actually planned my own. I didn't think anything of it until I heard that you apparently aren't supposed to. Then again, I hear now that your not supposed to have a baby shower for the second baby? And if you do it's supposed to be a "baby sprinkle"? Seems like a strange rule. I know I don't have most of the stuff we used for DS1. Anyway, my auntie and sis planned this one and they've been psyching me up for it.
I worry about space, because they invited so many people! Our house is a decent size, but I'm curious to see how we will accomidate 25+ people comfortably. Haha especially considering we don't have a couch.
I ordered this to wear for the day:) it's not a maternity dress, so I figure I can wear it afterwards. And it's the colors of our woodland theme:) minus the pink, but it's gorgeous.

You got something from Zulily in a week???? I ordered bras 3 weeks ago and still waiting...I find their shipping to be the WORST.

The past 2 times I've placed orders I've gotten them really quick - like a week or a little more, but the order before that took over a month. It's really hit or miss with them. I ordered a top last week for my shower and it's actually supposed to be here Wednesday.
Mine is on April 9th. I'll be almost 35 weeks! My sister and mother are planning it and it is happening in the rentable ballroom of my apartment building, which is super convenient and cost effective for them since I live far away from them. I have only ever been to one baby shower so I don't really even know what to expect, I just hope it is low key. I don't know what I am wearing yet but I am going to wait to buy something because who knows how big I'll be at that point! My mom and dad got us our stroller which is wonderful of them and my parents in law got us the matching bassinet and stand which is sleep approved so we will use it in our bedroom when the baby comes (and in the stroller). It is very generous and I feel very lucky, and can't wait to spend time with all of them!

They have items that are ready to ship. Some aren't marked as such for whatever reason. I think those are what come so fast. You can look under that category on Zulily but sometimes when you're looking under the brand's page it won't advertise it.

I just bought this dress for my shower on Pink Blush! It isn't maternity, but the straps are adjustable and the waist is elastic, so I think it *fingers crossed* has a good chance of working out. I hope so!
Late to the party, but I just got my dress and tried it on today.
It's a vintage early 1960s Emma Domb that I bought off Etsy. My husband has dubbed it the "Disney princess dress," and lo, so shall it be known. It's not maternity, but the high waist lets it fit fine over the bump. I'll probably get it hemmed up about an inch so it doesn't actually touch the floor, but other than that, it works nicely and I'm pretty happy with the purchase.
Finally!!! found a dress at Old Navy yesterday for my shower in April that looks decent/good. Its not a color I would normally choose, but I'm going to accessorize using this color palette and its actually really growing on me with the added colors.
Could I get away with wearing black leggings with it? Or would that look weird? Early April, Wisconsin... I'm gonna need something. Preferably something that doesn't involve me having to shave my legs.
My shower is tomorrow and I'm definitely anxious! I travelled to my home state for the shower, and I haven't been here in over 2 years.. And most of the guests I haven't seen in AT LEAST that long. Plus I hate being the center of attention (I had a super small wedding, no bridal shower, etc.). I'm excited and so grateful that my family is throwing the party and 'showering' me... But yep, a bit nervous too!
@Aquinna82 I am never shy and never nervous about social situations but about an hour before my shower I started to freak out!! My husband didn't know what to do because I am never like that, so he just kept telling me I looked nice LOL. I felt anxious the whole time!! I don't know what was up with me!! But of course it was a beautiful and fun day even with my anxiety!! How did yours go?!
I've had both my showers... the second one I was planning on wearing a sleeveless denim dress and of course it decided to snow in Iowa - yay! So I settled for a sweater dress I've been wearing for a couple months now On both days I tried to suppress the feeling that I looked like a giant whale - which I was able to in the moment, but looking back on pictures now I feel like YUCK!!! But oh well, that's just pregnancy, right !!!
My shower was great, I had a really good time. Once I get some pictures I'll put them up. It's funny because my husband was the same way with me, just kept telling me that I looked pretty as I was hyperventilating. No idea what that was all about. I think I was most nervous about getting to spend time with everyone there equally. I have this fear that someone would be upset that I didn't talk to them enough or something. I don't know, I blame the hormones
My shower is April 9 and will be rainbow themed since this is my rainbow baby. I'm wearing this dress over black leggings/tank with a bright ribbon instead of black. Not sure about shoes yet, probably bright flats?
I don't know how I got in these quote boxes. I can't get out! @yogahh Yes, my original dress got here in a week that I ordered from Zulily and so did this one. However, I'm much more pleased with this dress, although it's a tad bit tighter than I had intended. But what can you expect from a dress not made specifically for maternity. Lol.

I had mine early because with twins, who knows how early they'll come. Maxi dress is pink blush, but I bought it on thredup.com. Consignment ftw!
