April FET buddies

I hope it's not too early to start this -- I was originally scheduled to have my FET on March 25, but on Thursday, my RE pushed it out a week on  to April 1, so I'm in the land of nightly Lupron while we wait for my progesterone and estrogen to chill the heck out.

My current stress about this is that my husband is currently working 1,000 miles away, and we'd scheduled a trip home for him to be here for the transfer, but it's too late to change his flight and it's totally inconvenient for him to take off that week, but if we put it off another month, I won't be able to stay with my RE through 12 weeks since I'm moving to join my husband in June. My mom will drive me to the transfer, but I'd sure prefer my husband to be with me!

So that's where I am. Who else is planning a FET in April?
Me 39, hubby is 41.
Married 6/2014, started seeing RE in 12/2014.
DH's swimmers are perfect
Low egg quality and reserve on my part, so straight to IVF
Egg retrieval 6/2015, 12 eggs, 7 fertilized, 3 made it to PGS
1 chromosomally normal frozen embryo
FET scheduled April 1, 2016.
All our eggs are in this basket!

Re: April FET buddies

  • I was wondering if anyone was going to start an April FET thread. I just had my appt this morning and I begin Lupron tomorrow for hopeful FET on April 12.

I totally get your stress about about having to push back dates. My boss' wife is due the week after my FET is supposed to be so if we have to move it back, then we both can't be out at the same time. They May we are going to be out of town and that would mean June. All of the variables can be the most stressful part of the process!

  • Hi Ladies! I am scheduled for my FET on April 4th with beta on April 15th. This will be my 2nd FET. Our first round of IVF only ended up with 1 frozen embryo and I tested BFN on Christmas Eve. This round was much better and we have 6 frozen. We are only planning to transfer 1 this time, as DH really doesn't want twins.

Right now I am on daily lupron shots, estrogen patches and estrogen vaginal suppositories. I go for bw/us again on the 21st. Where is everyone else in prep?

Fx that we see a lot of BFPs in this group next month! :)

  • halips - April 4th will be here before you know it! I am scheduled for April 12th so I should be just about a week behind you. I can only imagine how hard that was to find out on Christmas Eve!  FX for FET!
vssbrm - the 28th is just a little over a month away too. We are all about a week a part. Hopefully all of us will have BFP next month!
I just started Lupron shots today. I'll start with estrogen pills next week & increase those dosages until the 12th & through Beta. I'll also start POI 5 days before transfer. I find it so interesting how many different options there are for how to take the hormones (shots, pills, suppositories).

  • It's so great to see others in about the same place on this journey! It's also really interesting how we all have completely different protocols. I started birth control pills on 2/5, through to 3/2. Started Lupron on 2/27, and with my extra week, that will continue through to 3/30.

Tomorrow, if my bloodwork is good, I'll start estrogen pills and vivelle. I have a feeling that it'll be fine, and while I'm not really a super woo-woo kinda lady, my feelings tend to be right. I had a feeling before my bloodwork last week that I was going to get pushed out. So here's hoping!

My husband administered all of my shots for the retrieval cycle. I've been doing the Lupron on my own and that's been no big deal, really. I'm a little anxious about the PIO, since I'm told it's thick and painful. My husband will be here for the first day (Easter!) of those, so he can do the honors that day, but then I'll be on my own again.

I hope we all get BFPs next month!

Hi Ladies – I’ve been active on the March FET thread, but my FET got delayed so looking for a new board....

AFM….. My ER was 1/21. We did ICSI and PGS testing and ended up with 3 normal embryos. I started Estrogen suppositories 2/26 with a tentative FET on 3/15. My lining was ~5mm after my first check – they doubled my meds, but as of Monday this week, it only got me to ~6mm…. so my cycle this month was cancelled. I will be on the Del Estrogen shots this time around (hopefully this change will work!). My FET is tentatively scheduled for 4/25 but will change based on when I get my period this month.

@vvsbrm sounds like out FETs might be close!

  • mela615  - I did a fwe days of POI when I went through ER in case we didn't have more than 3 eggs make it to testing. It really wasn't all that bad. I iced the area for about a minute and didn't even feel the needle. The hard part is that oil doesn't dissolve into the body as quickly as regular meds so it is harder to push the syringe.

MelD17011  sorry about your delay. Such a bummer! Glad you are here with us though!

  • @mela615  PIO isn't as bad a people say! I had to do it daily for 3.5 weeks back in December. DH did it for me. We drew circles on my bum with permanent marker where the shots needed to go. That made him feel better about it. We rotated sides each day. I iced the spot for about 3-5 min before and never felt the needle at all. Afterwards, I rubbed the spot for about 30 sec and then applied a heating pad or hot water bottle for a min or 2. This helped the oil spread out and not knot up. I barely had a bruise and never had a sore bum! The size of the needle is daunting and I think that alone makes it seem so bad. Make sure you have a mirror available when you are doing your own. You'll be ok! :)

  • Thanks @halips  and @Griffin5413! I'm willing to do what it takes, and it's not like pregnancy and childbirth are the most delightful processes in the world even if you don't have to go through the rigamarole of infertility treatments, but I think I seize on things to worry about, and you helped me there!

I had my second-try ultrasound and bloodwork this morning, and everything was perfect, and I am all systems go for Vivelle and Estrace. Like, the vivelle dot is on my body. Which was not as intuitive as I thought it would be. I had to pull out the instructions and study them at length before I was relatively sure I knew what I was doing. It's not dot-shaped at all!

Anyway, I'm excited to finally be moving ahead with the FET. Fingers crossed for all of us that it goes smoothly from here on out! :)

Has anyone else needed to go on Prometrium? They put me on it after my cancelled FET to get me to have a period. I have been having CRAZY dreams on it!! I dream a lot normally, but this has taken it to a whole new level – ha! My DH said the other night that I talked to him in my sleep for about 20 minutes!! …. And – I’m on it for another 10 days – should be interesting!

One of them was really nuts, but I was awoken at a weird point in it and it took me several minutes to figure out that it was actually a dream, and my basement wasn't full of raspberry jello with living gummy bears inside. I was really worried about how I was going to clean out it out before my landlady found out about it!

@ultratomato glad everything went well! It's so nice to finally get the dates!! I will be transferring on the 28, so a few days behind you!

We then have at least 1 visit each week after that up until the transfer - hopefully that will help time go by a little faster. @Griffin5413 when is your transfer?   never mind, I scrolled up.

Dr apt went ok. I do have a cyst so I have to go back next Tuesday for another sonogram. If it is still there, on Thursday (when I get my Lupron depo shot) they will aspirate it and luckily it will not affect my schedule.

Anyone know whatvthe Lupron the cycle previous to the transfer cycle does?

@vssbrm, the Lupron is just supposed to quiet down your natural cycle so they can control it more precisely. Basically, the first few days of it, your estrogen goes way up, and then you completely stop making estrogen on your own, so it bottoms out. Then they replace whatever your natural amounts are with pills and patches.

@Griffin5413, I feel you! We were hoping to do an embryo banking cycle in August, but my husband lost his job and the amazing IVF coverage the (otherwise worst company in the world) offered. So then we had to wait to get insured again,  (the new company has outstanding benefits in every way EXCEPT for IVF coverage) and we realized we needed to go ahead with the transfer before moving out of state. Anyway. The waiting is so hard. Waiting for a period, waiting for hormone levels to get where they need to be. And soon enough, we'll be at the worst one, the TWW.

As for me, my lining measured at 3.1 this morning. My estrogen is a little low, so I'm adding a vaginal tablet of estrace at night to the morning estrace oral pill and the every-other-day vivelle dots. Friday morning, we'll see if my lining is in shape for triggering Saturday. Here's hoping! I'm going to have to get another lupron kit since my cycle was pushed out a week early, but the pharmacy seriously overcharged me when filling my original order (they fixed it right away, but it was over a weekend and I had no access to $700 of my money while the bank stuff worked its way through) and they're giving me the lupron for free to  atone for the inconvenience, which is super cool.

  • @mela615 that is great that they are giving you the Lupron for free, especially if you are using the Lupron Depot (which w/o ins for us would have been $1,150! Oddly insurance covered it for us)! But super annoying that they messed up!

  • Hi! New here but my FET is scheduled for 4/15 also. I end BCPs today after 34 days and have been on Lupron since last Wednesday. I go in for my first ultrasound Monday morning and start 2x per day Estradiol. I start PIO four days before transfer after my last lining check. Our fresh cycle was cancelled when my progesterone was too high after retrieval. We had 11 eggs, 4 fertilized and 2 made it to day 3 for freezing. Fingers crossed for everyone!

  • I'm guessing I'll be in April for a frozen transfer ;) So I'm saying hi!

I have never actually done one (only 2 fresh transfers) so this is a new experience for me. I was SUPER excited for no shots, until we met with the doctor today to discuss and I realize there still are shots lol. Lupron, Progesterone (was doing just inserts before), and Lovenox. :(

We should be getting a call from the scheduling this week to know when everything happens, but I'm assuming April will be the month ;) I'm starting my regimen of Anti-Inflammatory foods and vitamins to hopefully help some Endometriosis issues.

Here's to the best our luck for everyone here!!

  • Welcome, @LeanneB82 and @derrian!

I've got mixed feelings today -- I live near Denver and we have this INSANE blizzard today, so my husband's flight home was canceled. All the flights tomorrow are completely full because they canceled a lot of flights before his. So on the good side, he'll be home for my FET and can be here for me.  On the sad side, I had portioned out my oomph for dealing with this long-distance-marriage separation to be done tonight, and I had pretty much used it all and now I've got to deal with another week of it.

And shovel 6-8 inches of snow on my own. That part sucks, too.

  • 2016dreambigderrianderrian  - welcome ladies! Looking forward to all of our April updates & hoping for a thread full of BFP's!!!

mela615  - so sorry to hear about your husband. Hopefully he'll make it there soon!

AFM- I started Lupron last Tuesday and I have an appointment this morning to make sure everything looks good to start the Estrace tomorrow. While the stims were certainly harder on my body, I feel more anxious as we get closer hoping that everything continues on time and my body now does what it's supposed to in order to get ready for a baby. Up until now, we have been doing this b/c of male infertility so now I feel more pressure to have it work.lol

  • @derrian welcome! My fingers are crossed for you that this frozen cycle works!!

@mela685 that must be so hard having your husband away for this. My husband was in the Army and have everything from 18mth long stretches being away to 8 wks. I am so glad we are not juggling IVF with that life! you are a strong woman to be doing this with the distance! My BFF sent me a pic of her backe yard yesterday (she lives in a Denver suburb), 16" of snow!!

@griffen5413 I get my Lupron Depot next week, time is creeping by. I hear you on the anxiety with the transfer process - we also have been mainly dealing with MFI. So now I am going through the second guessing of what if there is something wrong with me that we have not discovered? What if it does not work and we won't know why. What if it just does not work and I have all these close ladies who are preggers around me... I just want May to get here so that the anxiety can relax!!!

  • @vssbrm @Griffin5413  I am with both of you on the anxiety. We thought the issues were with just egg quantity until the retrieval when we only had 2/11 make it to day 3 (and the clinic opted to freeze rather than take the chance of having nothing on day 5). Now I feel all the extra stress and pressure about what if something else poops up that we didn't know about.

Well ladies, one more week down... Hopefully the holiday weekend flies by! I have been rather impatient this week, hopefully next week is better.

What is everyone up to this weekend? We have family dinner on Easter Sunday. Tomorrow we will probably just relax around the house, maybe a bit more spring cleaning.

  • My FET will be April 12th. I will likely start medication on Monday after my bloodtest and ultrasound.
  • Phew! I've been staring at my phone for the last five hours, but I finally heard from my clinic, and my transfer is a go for next Friday. Yay!

My lining was 10.3 and multi-layered, and my E2 was 2676, so I'm supposed to keep doing what I've been doing with the daily Lupron and estradiol, and trigger tomorrow. PIO starts Sunday morning. Medrol (pills, thank goodness!) starts Monday through Thursday.

It's really going to happen. I was getting nervous when it took them so long to call me, since my last bad news call came at 4:30 p.m. and my two good news calls came before 1:00 p.m.

My clinic has a space for acupuncturists, and I'll have one meet us for before and after the transfer.  More needles! I'm glad I don't have a phobia.

And now I can enjoy the weekend. I play bells at my church, and since our Wednesday night practice was canceled with the snow, we're going to practice at 4:00 tomorrow, and then play at two services Sunday morning. Hopefully being around other people will help me be not so lonely this weekend!

  • I thought I would jump on this group. I went through IVF in Jan. (after 4 failed IUI's and Laparoscopic Surgery to treat my Endometriosis). During my ER cycle, I ended up with OHSS so we went straight to frozen and skipped implanting any fresh. We started with 8 eggs and only three fertilized (the three we did ICSI on) We had not anticipated that (was a huge bummer and I wish we would have done ICSI on all of them) because we assumed my endo was the issue, but somehow all THREE ended up making it to 5 day embryos which is nothing short of a miracle. I have been on Estrace for 4 days now with a tentative transfer date set for April 12th. I will be transferring 2 five day embryos. We did not do PGS which I am now kind of wishing I would have done after all of this but we are going to just pray both little frozen embies are healthy.

  • Welcome, @cmmxv8! I'll add my prayers for healthy embies for you!

@LeanneB82I haven't done acupuncture at all since high school. I wish I'd done it during my retrieval cycle, (especially because that amazing insurance would have covered it, too!) but I didn't follow through on it. I'm certainly desperate enough to do anything that might help at this point. :)

  • @mela615 I started seeing an acupuncturist in October. I don't know that it helped my retrieval since we only had four mature eggs out of eleven that fertilized and only two that made it to day 3. But it did make me feel better throughout the process!

  • Hi All! Time is flying by, April will be here on Friday!!

@mela615 How are you feeling? I have my Fx for an easy transfer Friday and then a BFP!

My transfer is a week from today. The last 6 weeks have flown by, but I'm sure this week will drag. My apt this morning showed my lining was just about 9, so it will probably be btwn 9-10 for transfer. RE said that's perfect. My numbers all look good too. I'm trying not to be too neurotic, but with a failed FET already, I'm doing everything I can to help this one stick. I also have acupuncture scheduled right before and after transfer and took both Monday and Tuesday off work so I can just rest and relax.
