I didn't realize this but you submit it once and it's in the system for all months!  So, yes!

  • Just curious...have any Canadian moms here been offered a tdap in the third tri? It has literally not once even been mentioned to me in this pregnancy or my last, so I'm sort of surprised to see that apparently it seems totally standard in the US.

I know I'm not Canadian, but it wasn't ever mentioned to me until I got there yesterday and they were like, "and you'll be getting your rhogam and TDap today!" Ohhhhhhhkay!

Haha interesting. Well, I'm pretty certain my midwife doesn't administer vaccines (pretty sure my doctor doesn't either) and getting my rhogam is this whole ordeal where I had to sign all these consent forms about it at my appointment this week and then I need to go into a specialty clinic to go get it, so I don't think they're sneaking in any other shots. They did ask me at the public health clinic when my daughter got her 2 month vaccines (including tdap) if I was up to date on it and got me to schedule a booster then, but no mention of ever getting it while pregnant, or getting any boosters other than every 10 years.
  • @Emztron500- weird! I see a MW, who practices at the hospital we'll deliver at, but they do vaxes and all that jazz. Who knows!

I definitely don't recall being asked about it during my last pregnancy. But my memory isn't the most reliable. However, my MW doesn't offer vaccines and I don't recall taking a special trip to get a shot.

My OB hasn't mentioned it to me at all yet. I meant to bring it up this morning at my appt but I completely forgot.

So, on Health Canada's web site:

Immunization with Tdap to date has been shown to be safe in pregnant women and allows high levels of antibody to be transferred to newborns during the first two months of life when the morbidity and mortality from pertussis infection is the highest. All pregnant women at 26 weeks of pregnancy or later, who have not received a dose of pertussis-containing vaccine in adulthood, should be encouraged to receive Tdap vaccination. Immunization should not be delayed until close to delivery since this may provide insufficient time for optimal transfer of antibodies and direct protection of the infant against pertussis.   In special circumstances, such as a pertussis outbreak, all pregnant women who are 26 weeks gestation or greater may be offered Tdap vaccination, irrespective of their immunization history based on the advice of local public health officials.  Refer to Tetanus Toxoid, Diphtheria Toxoid and Pertussis Vaccine in Part 4 for additional information.

Seems it's only recommended if the tdap hasn't yet been administered in adulthood or if there's a pertussis outbreak.

In the June facebook group today a woman shared that her friend who has my due date (june 24th) went into labor & had the baby this morning (she is in the NICU).

My friends sister also went into labor & gave birth this morning - 2 weeks early.

This is all starting to get really real...
    holy shit!
  • Someone on my Instagram feed just posted a picture of a booger. Immediate unfollow. Do not need this in my life.
  • I'm in a blissful denial keeping busy with other stuff but every once in a while I'm like...what? A double digit countdown?

VOMITING. I have an unusually violent aversion to mucus anyway (I know....I'll have to get used to it somehow), so my brain just imploded at the thought of someone taking a photo of that horror and posting it on purpose
  • We have everything we need. We just need to switch the kids' rooms around, which means H needs to paint and we need to declutter DDs stuff.

Honestly I'm surprised she didn't include one right out of the gate.

On a related note, I haven't opened that "Hemorrhoids Anyone?" thread because of an irrational (I hope) fear that it's going to include a picture of someone's butthole asking for a diagnosis.
Don't worry, I had the same fear.... But there are no butthole pictures. So you're safe!

ps I got a good laugh out of your post.... Apparently I'm back in middle school today, giggling like an idiot over the word butthole.
No worries guys, @SMLmom wouldn't post pics of that ;)

I have to admit, butthole is a funny word. *snicker*
  • But how was the massage?
  • gray51015 said:

Got my prenatal massage yesterday, the one from the man that H bought for my birthday. I got there and got checked in and the girl at the front said she wanted to go over a few things with me since I've never had a massage while pregnant, "for the best experience possible". So we sit down and she is asking about tension and where I would like the masseuse to focus, blah blah... then she asks how much pressure I'm comfortable with, I say medium and she says ..... (dramatic drumroll).... "ok well if Trevor goes too hard or too deep just let him know and he will ease up on you. "

This is said with an absolute straight face and I had to bite the insides of my cheeks to keep from laughing or giggling.

Turns out I'm a teenage boy.

I just bought the cutest onesie -  Happy  First Father's Day.  I'm due on the 11th so hopefully he will be here by the 19th.  He's measuring a week early so I think there is a good chance.

    But seriously, the onesie....
Will not cry.  Will not cry.

H is just tickled to death that he'll likely get to celebrate his first Father's Day before I celebrate my first Mother's Day - although I told H if he doesn't do something special for me this year, even if it's super small, I'll kill him. I'm *technically* due the 12th but LO has been consistently measuring as if I was due the 6th since 12 weeks so he'll probably win this one.

    What's the onesie look like!?
