  • My boss took the lab out for lunch for my coworker's last day. Just ate baby's weight in crab fried rice and now I need a nap. How does he expect me to science after so much food?

  • Holy moley 48 new posts!  Mostly about that foo' Trump but still!  I'm really scared of republicans who don't actually like Trump going out and voting for him anyway in the presidential election and that making him win.

I will move to Canada with all of you and the hot Prime Minister.  Actually my husband suggested Portugal yesterday, so either way I will need your help @thaisac1!  Will it be help with my Canadian visa or help with my Portuguese? We shall see....

@knottie9983816 @elasticheart13   I'm not a huge fan of metal, but I did go to Warped tour in 1998, does that count? I can't even remember if that was metal or what.....it was with my HS boyfriend.

@fbanke42  glad you're ok! Scary to faint at the show but I'm glad you had some good neighbors looking out for you!

Just found out BIL has influenza A, nephew has strep and neice has some combo of the two. MIL is watching the kiddos while SIL is at work. Plus SIL has to have surgery on her ear April 8th. I swear that family is sick more than healthy. Poor kids :(
So yeah, looks like we won't be headed to the ILs this weekend. Glad I saw SIL's FB post so I can be the one to cancel (they're right there with your ILs on the germ sharing @fbanke42 ). I hate to say, I'm not exactly disappointed. I love them dearly, but their normal volume is like double a normal person and my patience level has plummeted the last few weeks - I doubt I would be as kind as I should.

  • @emgee27 If I had fallen to the floor and security come to my aid, I don't think DH would have wanted to stay. Luckily I only blacked out for a really short period of time and the people who caught me came with us to the show, so they immidiately called DH and told him that I was ok, but he needed to get his butt out of the bathroom. We moved over to the wall after DH came back and I was able to sit for two seconds before security barked at me and told me no sitting. Really? I just fainted and it's between sets! I'm worried this means more BP issues in my near future, especially since I fainted with DS and later ended up with pre-e.

@mrstrax Run away from the germs! Seriously, why do ILs always get other people sick?!

  • I'm thinking of moving to France instead of Canada, although once my husband becomes a doctor it will be hard to move to another country due to the different laws. :( I'm probably going to be stuck in the US for life.

DH works for an international company based in Germany, so that's probably our best bet. Not that either of us speak any German. A16 European Exodus, here we come!

  • @fbanke42  seriously with security??? What TWs!  I am glad you are ok but yeah, keep an eye on all that and I'll send you good vibes for no pre-e!

@mrstrax  I work in international higher ed, so feasibly I could also move to Europe, not that it would be easy. Maybe we should all just crash at @elasticheart13 's place until we figure out our permanent solutions.

What is this!!?!?!?! Where?? I have never had Crab fried rice.

  • @emgee27 I haven't really thoroughly complained about it on here, because it's one of those things where it is what it is, but I'm not getting to see Coheed and Cambria on the 11th because they are performing in Orlando, and that's within two weeks of my EDD. That's my all time favorite band since I was 14, and the album they just released is my favorite so far.

I also am not going to be able to go to Earthday Birthday this year because of breastfeeding. It'll be way too close to the baby being born, and even if I was planning on pumping for it, LO shouldn't have to go the almost twelve hours away from me that soon. But Bush, Breaking Benjamin, Trivium, and a whole mess of other awesome rock bands are playing this year...

A guy my fiancé works with is begging him to go see Coheed with him, and making a huge deal about it. I'm glad my fiancé knows how completely uncool that would be, and has repeatedly told him no over it. He is more than likely going to EDBD though... I can't blame him, Trivium is still his favorite band, and he will record Bush and Breaking Benjamin's sets for me.

I literally just had the discussion about how badly I want to move to France with my fiancé last night. Germany would be an amazing choice as well... I do speak very very small bits of German, but not enough to have a conversation lol. My issue is everywhere I would want to live socially and economically is FREEZING! And tbh, I don't have the credentials to teach dance overseas because they require so much more training for it than the US does. (We require none, just as an FYI) I couks probably get away with becoming RAD and Checetti certified, and attempting to teach, but most teaching roles are given to former professional dancers who retire from performing...
  • @fbanke42 I've never been to a concert where you couldn't sit... Was it like considered a trampling hazard or something?

Totally OT, but had to share. A facebook page I follow posted a link to an article about how moms are apparently now making jewelry out of their breastmilk. Said article also referenced "umbilical cord dreamcatchers". Coworker and I had never heard of those and googled them. Don't do that. They're real and I'm going to have nightmares based on the google image results. :s

Oh yeah, this is totally a thing.  I discovered it accidentally a month or two ago and it's just.....not for me, to put it mildly.  I saw breastmilk jewelry, placenta jewelry, placenta prints, umbilical cord prints, dried umbilical cord art.....

  • @Knottie9983816 That probably was their issue, since that area is where the security people kept walking past the entire show. I also don't think the guy knew I fainted or that he was paying attention to the fact that I'm seriously pregnant. Funny thing is, some else fainted after me and security ran over to them... Yet I was closer to all of the security people when I fainted. I see how it is.

Coheed and Cambria was great live when I saw them YEARS ago at Warped Tour. I know Breaking Benjamin is at the same venue I was at last night later this month, too.

No more concerts for me until LO is born. Way too close to baby time. Going into labor at a concert would suck.

  • Just want to whine: I'm sitting here, forcing myself to eat this beautiful, leftover salmon my husband lovingly cooked for me.  I know it's really good for me and the baby, but I'd rather be having a whopper.
  • @fbanke42 We saw Breaking Benjamin at Welcome to Rockville last year. Funny story... I almost passed out and DID have an anxiety attack during their set. It was one of their first shows since getting back together (I know, not the same band, but yeah) and everyone was SWARMING the stage area. My fiancé was pretty drunk at the time and didn't realize how freaked out I was getting from being over crowded, and I got kicked in the face from a crown surfer. Cue hyperventilating and sobbing... He carried me back to the edge of the field and we sat for the rest of that set. I was still too shaky to see Slash next and he was disappointed about that, but obviously I was a higher priority.

Coheed really is AMAZING live. My fiancé had no idea how talented Claudio Sanchez actually is until we saw them two years ago and he realized that he plays so many different instruments, and is just amazing. When he played Welcome Home (which was the only song fiancé knows) he played the solo with his teeth. Like wha???

That is funny! I have some friends in Germany and it seems like they have it pretty good there. I personally would rather live in France though (not Paris) because I just thought it seemed a lot nicer and more chill. I went to this quaint little town called Thionville and people just were sitting around in the middle of a week day drinking wine. I don't know French or German but I'm sure I could learn. I used to want to move to Iceland because it seriously sounds like the best country, but after going there I think I would go crazy from the lack of trees and the strange food.
  • @RoseShadow873 France probably wins the food game hands down... Just for curiosity's sake, have you read Bringing up Bebe, or French Kids Eat Everything?

Oh man I loooooove Iceland!!! I don't think I could live there though, I'd be one of a handful of brown people and that would be so weird coming from California haha!

I think my Euro top 3 are Portugal, Italy or the Netherlands.....

I trained as a doctor in Brazil (medschool) and USA (residency and fellowship), and now practice in Canada. So it is doable. :) Europe is different though.
  • It's always nice to hear when your coworkers, your supervisor's boss, and the person who is in charge of everyone is on the same page as you are about a fellow employee. Pretty sure the terrible new person is getting moved to a different area sometime in the near future.

My coworkers are also now freaking out because I officially go on maternity leave next month. They're still in the mentality that it's Febrary and not March, so they keep thinking that I have two months left.

I can't wait for the temp to be set up fully on her computer so that she'll stop interupting my breakfast/bump time every morning. I can't really complain because shitty temp would just sit in her office waiting for instruction and this one actually takes initiative but it would be nice if IT could get her fully functional.

  • I cracked off 1/2 a molar while eating a salad with croutons on Monday afternoon. It took part of a existing filling AND part of my real tooth !
I JUST had my teeth cleaned 2 weeks ago and everything looked good :(
i have been unable to eat hardly anything due to the tooth being so sharp it makes my tongue swell and bleed. Plus the tooth is sensitive.
    Thank god for dental wax!
The dentest couldn't get me in until tomorrow so here's to another day of drinking through straws and eating yogurt and applesauce

  • My ex is supposed to drop my kids off at 730 and then I take them to school, pick them up, etc because he's at work. It's 750 and I haven't heard anything from him. School starts at 800 so I sure hope he's planning on taking them or already has at this point, but now I'm worried something happened. Ughhhhh.

One of my favorite things is pouring the perfect ratio of milk to cereal. It's rare, but it just happened and I feel at peace.

I did that with the coffee/creamer ratio on Tuesday. Magic. I hadn't had creamer in forever, but by the 2nd re-heat (thanks toddler) it's just necessary.
