I have my 1-hr tomorrow morning and dr. told me to fast. So my question is- Do they do a blood draw when you first get there to get your fasting numbers? Or just the one blood draw at the end?

The 1 hour should just be a single draw. The 3 hour includes a fasting level, though.
I passed my 3 hour glucose test! I was really nervous, I had a c section with my daughter and heard GD babies are a little bigger and would increase the chances of a c section, I am leaning towards attempting a VBAC, but haven't set my mind 100%.
Failed my 1 hour and now have to do the 3 hour next Tuesday. Trying not to freak out, but I'm currently with a midwife at a birthing center and if any of my 3 hour draws are over then I am automatically considered 'high risk' and am risked out of being treated there anymore. I would have to find another doctor at almost 31 weeks. Not to mention I just finished paying for labor and delivery there.
Trying not to freak out and I know nothing ever goes according to plan but I was really looking forward to my natural birth at the birthing center and am kinda upset that it's now threatened...

I failed mine as well and have been monitoring my sugars since the middle of February. At my midwife appt yesterday I was told that the Diabetic Nurse believes there's a high chance I will be placed on insulin. With that said, I will be placed in care of an OB (also at 31 weeks now) because I am considered "high risk" at that point. But my midwife assured me that she will be there for my delivery and she will be the first person I call when I believe I am in labour. Ask your midwife if she can do or will be able to do the same for you? That really helped put my mind at ease @dsmith211.

I will be sure to ask when I go in the the 3 hour. If not, DH and I have started talking to a doula that we really like... So even if the midwife isn't able to come along then at least we'll have that. Just trying to stay positive about it for the time being and keeping my fingers crossed.

I wish i could afford a doula...Goodluck @dsmith211!! I hope you pass your 3 hour test!
I just got my results. 161, and my doctor's cut off is 135. So I have to go in for my three hour, hopefully I don't have the same phlebotomist that commented on not being able to pronounce both my first and last name.
Taking mine tomorrow they told me I don't need to fast before hand, but I should probably eat light! Have had problems with blood sugar dropping so anxious to see what my results are!
I passed my 1-hr fine but the other blood tests are pretty bad. High white blood cell count, low red cells and out of the range on everything else they tested for..great.
How long did it take you ladies to get your results back? I took mine on Saturday and it's Thursday here and I haven't heard anything yet. Wondering if I have to wait till my next OB appointment to get results...

When I failed my first test, a nurse called me after two days. When i passed the 3 hr, no body contacted me to tell me I passed. My midwife has the "no news is good news" policy.

I called at a week and recieved the results from the nurse. I still got the auto reply thing at 1 week 5 days. Honestly I'd call tomorrow if I was you. The worst they can say is that the results aren't in yet.

I took mine Monday and they called me Wednesday afternoon. Usually they put them online first, but I assume they literally just got them back and called right away.

I had my one hour today and was told it would take about two business days to get the results. Since today is Thursday, they said to expect a call on Monday.

I did not get my results until a week and a half later...from the diabetes clinic...if you are anxious i suggest calling your OB and getting your results..i wish i had done that because i thought "no news was good news".

@Kurranti did my test on monday and got a call from the docs wed morning... but i had bad news.. so maybe no news is good news!!!
Failed my one hour so going to try and do the three hour tomorrow... I'm worried though. When I have an empty stomach, I throw up. I throw up every morning when I get up, then eat and feel better. I'm afraid of the not being able to eat and then drinking the stuff and throwing it up because there's no food on my stomach...
So DH is a little upset, as am I. He did some research and apparently getting the rhogam shot can affect glucose screening results and cause false results. They insisted on giving me mine during the 1 hour while I was waiting for my blood draw and we really didn't think anything of it.
He said he's calling to ask why they did that essentially... bc it probably skewed my results enough for me to fail...
Just an FYI to anyone else who still has to do both... I would ask to have the shot AFTER your blood draw.

Wow - I just did my glucose test this morning and got my TDAP shot before hand. I asked the nurse if it would affect my test, and he exact response was, "No. If you were getting the rhogam shot it would, but this won't." I'd be mad, too!

Yeah... I didn't even think of it till I mentioned my results to someone at work and they mentioned they had been told that in the past and that I should probably call my midwife. Then we did our own research and everything says they should be done on separate days or the shot afterwards. I'm stuck doing the 3 hour test anyway (which I whined about, but bc they can't definitively say the shot affected the results I have to), but we did bring it up to them and they were apologetic. They don't have a very large client base so I assume the amount with negative blood types comes up only rarely. Still I don't think that should be an excuse. Lets just say I will definitely be researching everything even more than I do now (which is pretty obnoxious). If I end up passing the 3 hour with flying colors I'm going to do a big 'I told you so'...
@pooputtette did you talk to your doctor about your out of range results or did you just look at the reference ranges on the forms? The reason I ask is that the reference ranges listed are often for non pregnant adults. So it can be normal to have some of the values be out of range. For example, our hemoglobin is expected to be lower and our neutrophils are often high. If you spoke to your doctor, that's a different story but just wanted to put that out there.
@seasalt123 Thanks! I just read the results and ranges from the lab report. My Dr hasn't called to discuss it so maybe it is in the normal range for pregnancy. I did compare my results from a previous blood draw and my numbers have gotten better.
I took my HD test yesterday morning, and got my results online this morning. Thankfully passed, but I had a couple results from the other blood test that were on the low side... the person who wrote a note said they were within standard ranges (even though they were lower than the comparison range shown), but I might still get some additional information at my next appointment.
