To add to the annoying sleep commentary, I really hated the "sleep while baby sleeps" advise. Great idea, but I'm not a napper so I can't fall asleep during the day. Wish I could, truly. I think I took 1 or 2 naps during the day when DS was a newborn.
This is the WORST. I'll also do the dishes when the baby does the dishes. I'll pay the bills when the baby pays the bills. etc., etc.. Andplusalso. What is the alternative? That you'll sleep while the baby lays around awake?
I'll pile on and add "The housework can wait!" as a least favorite piece of trite advice. It can wait until you run out of clean clothes, dishes, and empty space in the trash can, but after that it really can't!
@AnnaS930 Oh my, yeah I definitely wouldn't risk it at this point. I'm going to Florida with work in a couple of weeks and I'm nervous for that even though there's no known risk there yet!! All I know is that DH and I went to Mexico last December, and stayed at a really nice resort. Guess what? There were a couple of nights there where I got eaten alive by Mosquitos, especially if we were out walking around right at dusk. Mosquitos always love me for whatever reason, there is no way I would go anywhere with a high risk right now!
I broke down an bought men's deodorant today. The struggle is real ladies.
Axe Island scent is the best thing in the world. Just monitor the aluminum content and make sure you use a soap strong enough to remove it all each shower.

I got Old Spice Amber with black current. It does not smell manly at all
@COmama87 Woah, I didn't know those existed! My life has changed forever. I have been thinking about floating in a pool during 3rd tri ever since my BFP.
@COmama87 You don't have to be too jealous. I'm in the Midwest and there will be no pool time here until late May. But that makes the pregnancy raft all the more needed since I'll clearly be much bigger then.
@TheTamedShrew Had not thought about a pool or how awesome it will be until I found this post. Goal between now and June (pool season here) become best friends with someone with a pool!
I went down to the cafeteria in my building today. Out of the corner of my eye, saw the cashier and the person that she was with (no idea who this person was) staring at me. The cashier leaned over and then I heard it..."Yeah, she's pregnant....with her second set of twins..." I didn't hear anything after that because the way it was said and the way that they were looking at me were purely insulting. What the hell? Am I a walking freak-show now or something? Yes, this is our second set of twins. Yes, we're thrilled. No, you don't need to give me that look of pity. And yes, I'm letting it all hang out. No, I'm not sucking anything in and I'm looking less like a pregnant woman and more like a whale. But what the actual hell?!?!
And now I'm just annoyed. Some people are ass-hats. The end.
@Unwritten524 Did you say anything to them? Or were you just in shock? I would probably be in shock but I so wish you would have said "Excuse me, did you say something? It sounded like you felt it appropriate to stare at me and comment on my body and I am just wondering what you would say to yourselves if you were in my shoes?" Or just saying "Excuse me, did you say something?" if you weren't quite sure what someone said about you is enough. I don't intend to let people get away with that crap (at least right now in my head)! I am so sorry that happened! WTF
My random for the day is that we are getting hit with a snow storm in the mitten so I was told I could leave work early. Yahoo! So after the white-knuckling it home, I decided to forego the salad I had brought to work and enjoyed Kraft mac & cheese instead (right out of the pot). I have work to do at some point but am thrilled to have my feet up and bumping right now.

Unfortunately I was too shocked to say anything. Of course though, I'm sitting at my desk playing out the various scenarios where I did say something. Arg.
@pilotswifey --the worst! The closest I can come to that is when I sat on a swing with my LO in my lap and when I pushed off, somehow I launched us both out of the swing and we rolled on the ground in front of everyone at the park. I was almost 8 weeks pregnant and so I wonder if my balance was already shifting, but it was no fun. I hope you're ok!
@blondie080300 yay for the mitten snow storm! So glad your work released you early! My kids were released early from school and now we're snuggled up watching Nicholas Sparks movies! Sucks though because my husband does snow removal so i won't see him until Late Thursday.
@mamajen10414God bless your husband! We need him in Michigan and I know they put in long hours trying to make the roads, businesses and sidewalks more safe. Enjoy your snuggle day!

TMI warning! (Although I feel we are way past that in this Randoms thread ) Just want to sing the praises of Activia real quick! The constipation has been real the last couple weeks and I just started eating one strawberry yogurt with honey nut granola on top once a day in the morning. Oh my gosh y'all I never appreciated being so regular. Much more yum than taking Metamucil.
Turns out that if I ask my DH to do things to help me out (or just to treat me because I am pregnant), rather than waiting for him to offer/read my mind, he does them gladly! Lesson learned.
one nice bowl of ice cream with chocolate sauce is headed my way.
Ok ya'll I have got to tell you about my experience last night, especially for all you ladies who have stated you had bad gas and have literally gassed out your husbands. Let me tell you - nothing any of you have done could have compared to what came out of my husband last night. It was this unholy stench combination of rotten eggs, mixed with dead flesh, bad fish, and the worst sweat stench you've ever known. This thing permeated the air until you could taste it, then it got worse (yes) and simply lingered. To top it off, this wasn't one blast, oh no, the man managed to blast again in the middle of the night with the most heinous of unholy stenches ever, that the shear smell of it woke me up. I kid you not, it lingered and permeated the air, my nostrils, and my tastebuds for over an hour. And the man had the gall to sleep through the whole thing (trust me I did try to wake him up)!!!
It's a darn good thing I'm not prone to nausea right now, because if I was, the way that thing woke me up, I would've not made it to the bathroom and for sheer retribution would have aimed towards DH. I never want to experience that in my life again.
I probably should have saved this for UO, but talks of prunes on another thread made me think of this. I LOVE prunes! I'd eat a ton of them at my grandma's house when I was little, but hadn't had them as an adult until I was pregnant with DD. I'd have to limit my intake of them or I could eat the whole package in one sitting.
My husband did bath time and bed time last night, and it was his offer. I didn't even ask for it. So nice to lie on the couch right after dinner. Too bad we had crazy thunderstorms that kept waking her up.
Uh-oh. I had a donut at home this morning (leftover from the ones I brought to work.. yes, I brought the leftovers home. Obviously!) then had some coffee when I got to work. I am also hungry again now, and I brought Raisin Bran for breakfast. Problem is.. the coffee is already doing its job and I have to poop. Guess I should do that pre-Raisin Bran and hope this doesn't turn into a multi-trip kind of day.
Though, as I've said.. I'll take too much poo over not enough.
My Tuesday headache lasted into most of yesterday but by night time I felt better. I only missed a day but I feel like I missed so much!
I love dates too but I rarely seem to eat them. One restaurant I used to live by had bacon wrapped and blue cheese stuffed dates that were amazing!
I'm going to tell my 5 person department today. I've had too many comments of you seem off and I look like I have bump which is really a blump but eh. I feel like I should tell my boss alone but his humor can be a little odd so group setting is best.
I usually use them to make date bars.. which is a really good chewy bar with a buttery/sugary/cinammon oat crumble on top and bottom a layer of dates that you boil with some sugar. SO GOOOOD. I end up snacking on the dates while baking every time, they're like candy
Ya'll I'm dying for a wedge Salad from a local place - it's delish. It comes with bacon, tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese and the most amazing balsamic dressing. How absolutely horrible is it to have blue cheese?
